After our prior plumbing company said we did not have a sewer gas leak and no leaky pipes, these guys came prepared and proved otherwise. I'm so glad I stayed the course of finding out where the sewer gas was coming from. They did a smoke bomb and found many issues with our 20-year-old pipes. If you are looking for a plumber, that will do a terrible job, price gouge you, talk you into products that you don't need or want...then this is the company for you! The handheld in my master shower was not working. Ray came to my house from Reliant Plumbing and told me that he needed to cut a hole in the drywall or in the tile of the shower in order to fix my problem. Ray did zero troubleshooting to find the cause of my plumbing problem. All he wanted to do was cut a hole in my wall. Then Ray proceeded to tell me that I needed a water softener system on my entire house. He also told me that I needed two of those systems and gave me a price of $21,000. After this terrible experience, I called a smaller plumbing company. The plumber came out, looked at my handheld in my primary bathroom shower. He realized that the hose going to the handheld was clogged. He unclogged the hose and solved my problem and charged me $75 . Reliant's poor workmanship last year failed under my garage this year. They tried to blame everyone but themselves and ghosted us on solutions beyond their temporary fix. Then we found out they never closed the plumbing permit from last year. We found out the 2024 permit was never closed and that parts listed in our invoice were never installed. It has been about 6 weeks since this ordeal began and we still have a giant hole under the house and a pile of dirt in our driveway. I only get updates when I call and hear some excuse. I have asked for better communication and to speak with someone from operations who can explain why they won't refund their crappy work, why they wouldn't honor their warranty even though they never fully completed their contract, why two other plumbers questioned the lack of hangers to help stabilize the Reliant repair, and why I have to keep contacting them to ensure progress. I referred a client to Reliant Plumbing as one of three options for a sewer inspection, and they ultimately chose Reliant. Based on their experience this morning, I will be removing Reliant from my list of recommended service providers. When I refer clients, I expect them to receive excellent service, and unfortunately, that was not the case. When my client called to schedule a sewer scope inspection for a home purchase, they were not given a quote or even a price range--only a service fee. It wasn't until the plumber arrived on-site that they were informed the inspection would cost $535. To put this into perspective, the licensed TREC home inspector, who was already on-site conducting the whole home inspection, would have charged around $280 for the same sewer scope. There is no clear reason why Reliant's price was almost double the standard rate. The first person to arrive was friendly enough, but it was unclear what their actual role was compared to the plumber who eventually did the work. They may have been a salesperson or foreman, but their purpose on-site wasn't made clear. The actual plumber who performed the sewer scope arrived with a device that did not have a charged battery, forcing them to wait for one. As a result, what should have been a straightforward inspection at 8:00 AM dragged on until 11:30 AM--a completely unnecessary delay. When it came time to locate the exterior and interior clean-outs, the effort was minimal at best. The second exterior clean-out was found by my partner in seconds, yet the plumber barely searched for it. Inside the home, they made an even more half-hearted attempt to locate the clean-outs under the bathroom sinks. They were ready to leave after only scoping from the street to the house, ignoring the majority of the plumbing under the home. I had to push them to complete a more thorough inspection. The final straw was the report. For $535, my client received a two-page PDF with pictures of the clean-out entrance--but no images or videos of the pipes themselves. There is no real documentation of the sewer condition, meaning my client has no actual evidence of what they paid for. This experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and overpriced. The lack of transparency, delays, incomplete inspection, and inadequate reporting do not align with the level of service I expect when referring professionals. As a result, Reliant Plumbing will no longer be on my list of recommended service providers. Update 1: It has now been over 48 hours, and despite multiple attempts to follow up through their hotline, we have not received any additional photos, videos, or a credit. The manager continues to call at different times but is never available when we return the call. He also does not provide a direct number, so we're forced to go through the answering service again and again, repeating the same process with no resolution. Update 2: They finally promised to give our client a credit, but as of today, it has still not been received. I was quoted $670 to replace water heater drain valve which I declined and ultimately did myself for the cost of the valve, which was $11 In the same visit I received quotes for a new water heater ranging from $3400 to $6800. Beware of Reliant Plumbing. I had a serious water leak that tripled my bill. I received an initial estimate from Reliant who only did a walk around - no testing- and absolutely assured me I had a slab leak requiring a $20,000 reroute for my entire plumbing to the attic. So I scheduled with another company that quickly figured out the location of the leak was not under my slab, but was being caused by a huge root pushing up on the connection between my pipe from the house and the pipe leading to the City connection. The other company dug down and found the leak, then made the repair in a day for $2000 instead of $20,000. And the repairs proposed by Reliant would not even have fixed the leak!! read more

Almost 2 weeks later they claim the city needs to inspect repair which they never mentioned at the time and still hole is not filled. Unfortunately, I have had a terrible experience with Reliant, despite the favorable review I had from a friend. I contracted them to replace a main water line; the work was done at night (!!!), covered before I could review, and did not pass City inspection due to the omitted tracer wire, which was identified in a photo of the line. In doing the work, the main sprinkler valve was broken, the area of trenching left a terrible mess with trip hazards, rocks, and roots spread everywhere. The sales person continually assured me they would "make it right". I was promised a reimbursement for contracting with other companies to make the repairs for their damages, totalling $1000. Reliant's work started December 3, tracer wire was added in late December, and the request for reimbursement was made starting 1/2/2026. The polite replies say "they understand my concerns" - but this company never provides a manager-level person to contact, nor are they responsive or customer-oriented. It looks like l will be filing a small claims case in court to obtain the reimbursement. Countless hours of messaging, calls and texting, hiring other tradespeople AND still not resolved. Do you need time for such a hassle and untidy work? On 6/24/2025, I was at their mercy to accept a $495.29 quote to install a brand-new Moen shower cartridge I provided, due to a water shutoff leaving me no choice. It started with aggressive upselling--they pushed a $1,800 valve body replacement I didn't need. The installation was a disaster: the technician hammered it in, admitting he shouldn't, used spit as lubricant, refused my proper lubricant, and borrowed my needle-nose pliers. He ruined my new cartridge, which failed after two showers, leaving me with no water. I stopped the leak myself, but the shower remains unusable. Another plumber is fixing it for $150.00, and I later found out I was way overcharged--Reliant's $495.29 ($661/hour) dwarfs the $80-$180 industry standard. They came out to fix a leaking angle stop for me in our downstairs bathroom. It was an after hours call and the junior technician arrived between 5 and 6 PM. Finally an experienced guy showed up and we started making progress. They didn't leave until almost midnight trying to fix this simple job. It wasted a ton of my time and the new parts they installed continued to leak after they left. I tried to get them to come back to fix it again, but they stood me up and gave me the runaround for almost a week. I was finally able to get them to come back a month later and they told me that my water pressure was too high so there is no warranty. They then quoted me for a water pressure valve and gave me a service call fee for looking at the work they did that was leaking. Run the other way. read more

Do not use Reliant!!! Read the bad reviews. Two years ago our hot water heater failed. Reliant sold us a top of the line Reem heater with a long term warranty. The heater failed during a recent power outage. Now we learn that the warranty only covers the tank, the electronic controls and the heating element are not covered. The tech ordered the parts on June 17th for a June 20 installation. It's now June 24th, they discovered that they ordered the wrong parts and have no idea when or if the correct parts will be available. I have cancelled the service and requested a refund. They are trying to charge me a 15% restocking fee to return the incorrectly ordered part. WTF?? If you live in the Lakeway or Bee Cave area, please find anyone else to hire for your plumbing. Never call Reliant - do not trust this business, even if you believe it is an emergency and they seem responsive. 3 days and $16k of charges later after a septic backup in our new home, we asked Alan and team to leave when he asked about $4k more to do completely unnecessary work (confirmed this later with much better plumbers who offered to remove the same blockages for $600 without ripping up our sealed pavers on the patio). The outcome of Reliant's 3 days of work: we have a river of human waste on our patio, landscaping and into the backyard - and the warning light and alarm were also going off on our septic monitoring - indicating the reservoir was completely full and backed up, despite Reliant "taking care of this" by installing a brand new grinder pump the previous day before. Plus two stoppages still left uncleared by Alan and team. We asked the team for a itemized invoice 4 times throughout the course of the work before we finally received one as they left. On a Saturday night, i booked a next day appointment to have my kitchen sink re-plumbed. Lara from the office called me first thing Sunday morning to get details on my repair. Alan called me 5 minutes later to let me know that he was about 45 minutes out. Super personable and professional, Alan looked at the job, discussed the history of my issue, and came up with 4 different options for my repair. He explained the benefits of each option and answered all of my questions. When I mentioned a couple of plumbing projects we wanted to complete in the future, he asked to look at one (an issue with our washing machine drain that we've been "working around" since 2007.) Alan offered to send a camera to check that issue while they were fixing my kitchen sink. Alan then scheduled a crew to come out to complete the job on the SAME DAY! Before calling these people read my review, and then keep on reading because my experience is not unique. These people are crooks. We called them because a bathtub on our second floor was leaking and coming through a light fixture in ceiling below. It was a weekend and our usual plumbers were not available. Not knowing exactly what the problem was we wanted to get someone out that day. They came and cut a giant hole in our ceiling and told us we needed repairs to copper piping. They also tried to sell us a water heater at a discount if we decided right then to do it and assured us it would fail any day. We declined the water heater but felt stuck with them because we paid $150 just for them to come out, so we didn't listen to the icky feeling the slimy salesman was giving us. He quoted $1600 to make progressive cuts into the drywall and make copper pipe repairs as needed, and said he'd need an $800 deposit. We paid the deposit and he left. Two other guys came shortly after, looked into the hole in the ceiling and asked if there was a tub just above. They went and looked at the tub and discovered that the only problem was missing sealant on a joint in the drain. They fixed it in 5 minutes. When asked about whether there would be a price adjustment because this was a very different job than was quoted to us they said someone would call us the following day to discuss. No one called. On Monday my husband received an invoice/agreement for $1135, and they charged our credit card for the difference without our permission. We did not give them permission to hold our credit card number, but on the "agreement" they emailed they had forged my husband's signature, and that agreement with the forged signature gave them permission. I called no less than 10 times and no one was ever available to talk to me and they would not return my calls. I started an email chain for a paper trail, filed a police report for the forged signatures and protested the charges with my credit card company. I also consulted an attorney because it was free through my legal plan at work. So far my credit card company has given my money back, and if Reliant somehow gets them to reverse that I have the attorney on standby to help. These people are infuriating. I cannot stress enough that you would be better off dealing with whatever plumbing issue you have yourself rather than calling them. read more

I called relaint because the water spigot feeding my refrigerator stopped working. The technician estimated it would cost $1163 to repair because something was stopped up and the entire line would need to be replaced. I called another local Georgetown plumber for an estimate and he told me over the phone that a line connecting the cold water feed to the refrigerator feed had been removed by the construction company. I fixed the problem for $9.55 with tax using parts from home depot. read more

When you are an average consumer and have an serious issue at your house that needs immediate attention and you don't have the expertise or capability to fix, lets face it, you are at the mercy of the company coming out to address it. Well my worse nightmare about that came true with Reliant - I had a cartridge water system go out at my house on a Friday late afternoon and had out of state guests coming in the next morning. After looking at it for 5 min - their solution was "we can replace it for another water softener ranging from $6-8K" or I can bypass it for $1,000. I know plumbing but dont have the expertise to bypass it but even I know that $1,000 is extreme and I'm not buying a $6-8K replacement. So what do I do? Go without water until Monday with visitors coming in (when I could get someone else out there to give another opinion" or bit the bullet and pay the $1K. So I bit the bullet reluctantly and 7 min later I have the most simplistic bypass with clamped joints (not even soldered) and he's on his way. What a bitter taste in my mouth. So if you find yourself in this predicament - word to the weary - DONT use these guys. The epitome of taking advantage of a bad situation. BTW - Got the water softener replace by another company for half the price and a superior system to their offering AND the installer said that their standard "bypass" would have been $300 regardless of the time of day and day of the week. read more

Not only did your company try to charge a fee just to come out and provide a quote, but Reliant wanted to charge more than the price of a new tankless water heater for a $9 pvc elbow that required no tools to replace. Oh and by the way, I was deployed at the time and Facetimeed the technician who wanted to rip us off with my wife's assistance. Thanks to Ferguson Plumbing for ordering the part for me. During a freeze, we called reliant for an emergency visit as a pipe burst. They told me on the phone that the after hours fee was $150, which I agreed to. When the technician arrived, he tried to pull a bait and switch and said it would be $250 for the visit. Additionally, for a 7 min task of screwing on a cap for the leak, he charged $350. When we called the main office to complain about the price not matching the service, they said their services are a minimum of $350. I strongly feel like that sort of information should have been disclosed, and they were extremely rude when we professionally tried to negotiate / push back on that. I'm only leaving this review to let people know there will be a minimum $350 charge no matter how small the task. read more

I applied for their zero interest loan and now they've gotten their money and I am terrified that they will not finish their work. The mound of dirt is piled in my driveway. I am only asking for simple honest communication. Their secretary says that the office is not open to the public. Wow! She says she cannot forward a phone call to the person that handles their permits. Caution tape blocks the side walk on our busy pedestrian walkway where my sewer lateral reaches the City's pipe. One of our neighbors fell as they tried to make it into the road from the sidewalk. The City of Austin is responsible and those settlements and they are in the millions that we, tax payers, have to pay. Called them in an emergency after reading reviews here, so feel like it's best to post here and warn people not to make the same mistake we did. We woke up Thanksgiving morning with a wet floor and warped floorboards. We had no idea where the leak was coming from, and knew we needed someone to take a look ASAP. I called Reliant the next morning who said they could come out that day (Friday). They pushed back our appointment twice, but did end up coming out Saturday afternoon. After the technician, Timothy, arrived, he immediately charged us their large holiday call fee, which we were told about in advance and were okay with because we were assured a thorough diagnosis. The problem was- he didn't actually examine anything in our house. No fixtures, no water heaters, nothing. Didn't step foot inside a bathroom. I know sometimes people exaggerate on these reviews, but I promise you folks: he actually looked at nothing, did no examination of any sort of any of our plumbing equipment. Baffling, He sort of looked at the floor, told us it was a slab leak, gave us a quote for 11k (their "standard flat rate to find the source and repair a slab leak"), and left. All within 15 minutes. Spoiler alert: Timothy completely misdiagnosed our issue. Our regular plumber was able to make it out Monday, and after doing a thorough examination, found the source of the leak (our hot water heater). He fixed it the next day for under 500 dollars. Side note: their management has said they'll refund us the service fee, but doesn't seem in a hurry to actually submit a refund. TLDR: Reliant misdiagnosed our issue in a bafflingly bad house call where their technician didn't actually look at anything in the house. Had we gone with Reliant, we'd have overpaid by over $10,000 to repair our issue. That's crazy to think about. read more

This company blatantly tries to overcharge. Yesterday a plumber from their company wanted to charge me $3550 plus tax for a job to replace an easily accessible water pressure tank and then tried to upsell me a new type of system for $4,200 before tax that didn't interest me at all. (That's a whole other story) When I looked up the price of the part it was around $400. I thought his price was ridiculous and told him so and then he tried to tell me the going rate for plumbers was around $1,000/hour, which also seemed ridiculous. I selected Reliant for a major plumbing project (replumbing the house with pex piping) and I regret the decision. The TLDL review is that they will say anything to get you to sign and after the contract is executed they will say anything to defend their sup-par work. They do not sell or negotiate in good faith. If you do choose them here's some quick advice: When negotiating with them (and you will have to negotiate every aspect of the work (quality, materials, etc) , even after you've agreed upon a price) just know that they will take every short-cut possible and incur maximum damage to your home to which they will take no responsibility. Read your service agreement with them carefully before you sign. Whatever you do, do not sign with them on the spot. After work begins, they will make major decisions without consulting you that will cost thousands of dollars to to repair. In short, what they deliver will be very different than what they sell. In particular, note that they will send out very inexperienced plumbers to do work they are not qualified to do. It's up to you to review the work and make sure that it's done up to standards. read more

The past 6 months have been a complete disaster as I've dealt with a leak Reliant has NOT solved and continued to send different people with zero context every time, checking for the same things, asking the same questions, and coming unprepared for how to solve for problem at hand. I'm ashamed there is an Austin business this terrible with equally bad customer service. I have to say a couple of the guys that came did try their best with the information they had. This message is for the owner/ manager who by now should've reached out given my constant complaints. They cut through the drywall behind my oven and left a mess, never clean up after they leave, and there is little to no communication on when they're showing up. They even had one person show up for a two man job so I volunteered to step in and take video while he tested the neighbors faucet. We then had to wait an hour and a half for someone else to come to climb the ladder and take more video of the ceiling. James who was just here has been one of the most helpful. Unfortunately I'm stuck with them as my leak is being handled by my HOA, otherwise I would've gone with Radiant as they seem way more prepared to handle something like this. read more
