Grilled pork loin with sautéed Granny Smith apples
    Zoe L.

Had a very nice sit down lunch at the culinaire room with my husband. Got a awesome entree with grilled rainbow trout with tasty purple potatoes and grilled veggies, husband got grilled pork loin with sautéed apples. Both are cooked well and taste great! Came with a very generous green salad or soup and butter and roll, for just $8.99 an entree (tax included and tips not accepted)! Got raspberry flan as dessert which was also very tasty. The food are cooked by the culinary arts students at RTC and served by them too. Very quaint dinning experience, so relaxing with a cup of coffee after the food. Highly recommended, come and support the local college and students! Also checked out the RTC bakery and the items look great and priced very reasonably. Only negative: only open during Monday to Friday, and probably closed during school breaks.

It's family-owned and operated, and you can truly feel that sense of legacy and love the moment you walk in. The food is absolutely amazing. My husband and I were visiting Washington for the weekend and ended up eating here twice--that's how good it is. The first time, we had the catfish nuggets, fried shrimp, and fried pork chops with collard greens, mac & cheese, and candied yams. Every single bite was on point. The second time, we made it just in time for the oxtail stew--and it was fire. You can genuinely taste the soul in the food. This place is something special. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!

We were craving some southern cooking and they were able to help us fairly quickly upon coming in. We ordered a meal with the two main and two side. In our order, we had the fried chicken and catfish. For the sides we had their macaroni and cheese and collard greens. With the meal it did come with a cornbread. We added n extra cornbread for $4. All this was a bit pricey for a meal. We ordered our food to go, so once our food is ready, they'll bring it out to our car. Which is a very nice service! But it did take a long time to get our food, I'm glad that it was fresh though. As for the food itself, I thought the chicken could've had a little bit more salt. But we did have the hot sauce on the side to dip, which made it good. The catfish was delicious, lots of flavor there. Nana's special sauce that was offered, made it even better! The sides were good, but for the cornbread. I would've liked it more moist. The place is very relaxed and chill, with many customers enjoying their food inside or waiting outside for the nice lady to drop off their order.

Please don't start a fight with your amor over an armoire, head to the IKEA cafeteria for some meatballs and princess cake before things escalate! Whoever the Chief Lunch Officer (CLO) at IKEA is made the bright decision to only have 5 options for meals. They knew that their patrons would be suffering from decision fatigue by the time they made it to the mess hall. At this point in the day, IKEA has put you through enough mental gymnastics, and you don't want too much variety in which Scandinavian plate to order. So grab whichever meatball derivative product that speaks to you, and take a window seat so that you can vibe out to the sights and sounds of beautiful Renton. If you're coming from Seattle, you've most likely never been here! Why would you need to? It's a gem, folks. You're bound to see hilarious views of shoppers losing control of their carts from above while you rest up for your final push through the store. I was pleasantly surprised by both the traditional meatballs, and the veg balls, which are fairly similar in texture and taste to the standard issue (did they make a mistake?) the lingonberry jam (I'm pretty sure that's what I was eating) adds a nice balance to the balls that is necessary to cut through the fat. The mashed potatoes were just ok, but if you screw those up then you are just a lost cause. A nice gravy blanket then re-invigorates the body, bringing back the calories lost from the 15k steps that you just took through a warehouse that makes Costco look like a dollhouse. Let's be clear that I'm not rating ikea itself as a 3 star establishment here, it's higher. They are doing us all a service by supplying easy to build (well, maybe not easy) furniture at a decent cost. And the store itself is actually fun. But I can't in good faith rate the food higher than 3 stars. It did the job well, but there are certainly no frills. Also, make sure you get yourself a Varmblixt for some warm, ambient light in your household. It will change your life.

The place really needs an overhaul and honestly I think the bathroom is in violation of major health codes. The decor is a mix mash of a variety of things, there's no rhyme or reason to it but I think it's actually ok. There's a few tv's that you can watch which I was thankful for as the Seahawks game was on. We were told to sit wherever we wanted and did just that. We were brought coffee and experienced refills during the entire meal. The waiter came to take our order and was prompt about that also. We didn't wait very long for our order. I had eggs benedict and hash browns, my husband had pancakes and hash browns. I asked for the hash browns to be extra crispy and they were just that. The eggs benedict sauce was good but needed a bit more flavor, the eggs were cooked perfectly. The portion was great. My husband, who loves pancakes said they were really good and the portion was also big. I ended taking leftovers because my portion was so big. We experience a long wait to getting a box and our check for the meal. I don't know why but it was a big irritating. The people working were very friendly. So here's the thing, this place is rundown, bigtime, it's been in place for a long time and I believe switched owners. It appears that no one has updated this place and I think that people might be more apt to come in if repairs and improvements were made. Would I go out of my way to come back, no, but if I was in the area, I would stop in and eat again. You just have to know what to experience when you come in. I gave this a 4 star simply because the food was good, it was deserving.

Shortly after, a very kind gentleman brought us waters along with chips and salsa, which was appreciated. The chips were pretty standard Mexican restaurant chips--not my favorite. They tasted slightly greasy, even though they didn't appear to be. The salsa had good flavor but was quite thin. Our waitress greeted us within a reasonable amount of time, took our drink order, and returned with our drinks to take our food order. Since it was our first visit, we tried a few different items. I ordered the steak fajitas, which were flavorful and came with a generous amount of onions and peppers, many with a nice char (which I loved). The steak was tender and well seasoned. I do wish they offered the option to mix multiple proteins. I also ordered a ground beef hard-shell taco on the side, and it was great--the shell didn't taste stale like you often find at many Mexican restaurants. My dining partner enjoyed his meal as well. The only downside was the manager or owner standing near the computer station by the entrance for much of our visit, frequently watching the dining room. Since we were one of the first few tables, it felt a bit uncomfortable at times, even though I'm sure it wasn't intentional. Overall, this has quickly earned a top-two spot for Mexican restaurants in Renton for us. We'll definitely be back.

She has been going on and on about this "Fire Breather" burger for a bit. First things first, exceptionally clean and friendly place. Seated quickly and very attentive to us and the rest of the patrons there. Broad selection of food and adult beverages. Breakfast till 1:00 pm on Sat/Sun so it was hard for me to decide what I wanted as I had my mind set on the "Pub Club" but noticed that they had Chicken Fried Steak, oh the choices.... Not disappointed on the "Pub Club" it was Yumi! It was full of all the things that make a "Club Sandwich", the kicker was it had "pepper bacon" on it! My sandwich was piled with meat cheese, tomato, and lettuce. Now this is where it gets interesting, I added some of the aforementioned "Fire Breather Sauce" to it, just a bit. It is freakin Habanero Pepper Mayo(ish) sauce, WOW or should I say YEOW! Not just hot but exploding with flavor. As stated, my lunch partner had the "Fire Breather" burger w/ added Pepper Bacon and Avocado. It was more than a mouth full of dripping yum. Meat done perfectly, nice fresh avocado, thick pieces of pepper bacon done to perfection. After seeing and eating the pepper bacon I decided to take home a BLTA with cheddar cheese. The onion rings were some of the best I have had in a while. Beer was cold and wet! Overall, a great meal and you will too. The words of the day today are "Pepper Bacon"
