I can't believe it took me so long to give Renzo's a try. For some reason I pictured it as a stuffy steak house, but I couldn't have been more wrong. We went on a Friday for lunch, and there were only three or four other tables in the place. Atmosphere was a little dim, I guess to provide a more intimate dining experience, but there was a television turned on at the far end of the dining room, which struck me as odd. I ordered a mojito, but the waitress wasn't sure if the bar was serving yet (??) so I switched to a diet coke. I absolutely loved my Capresara salad, to which I added chicken breast. The large was enough for two meals. The avocado, mozzarella, and tomatoes were very fresh and delicious tasting; the chicken was a generous amount and seasoned very well. We split tostones - I love when they are served crunchy and flat. And we also split an order of yuka fries, which I ended up with a blurry picture of because I was in such a hurry to eat them. Our waitress was friendly and efficient; she brought me a new soda without even asking. Food arrived in a surprising little amount of time. Plenty of free parking was provided in the strip mall parking lot outside. Renzo's will definitely be on my regular rotation now. read more

We ordered paella and braised short ribs to go online in the early evening on a weekday. They cancelled the short ribs with a text message. We didn't see it until it was too late to cancel. They should have called. The paella was hot and presented nicely, but it seems like the seafood mixed into the paella was previously frozen and there was barely any flavor. The seafood and peppers on top had no flavor. No love in this food. The tres leches cup was soggy cake with nice whipped cream on top. Tasted good, but texture was a miss. This place is located in a little strip of shops off a very busy street. When going for lunch around 11:30am, it is not very busy and easy to get a table for any sized group. As for the parking lot; it is small and a little busy. Right as we got there, the staff was very friendly and attentive. We had a large group, around 10, and overall experienced great service. We started the meal with empanadas. I had a chicken empanada which was about the size of my hand. It was not small, but also "big" would not be the right word to describe the size. The crust was flaky and the inside was warm and flavorful; full of spice. I would eat multiple of these and was even tempted to go back during my stay in Tampa. As for the entrees, some of the people got lunch dishes while the rest split 2 of the Renzo's table-side grills. The Renzo's Parrilla and Parrilla Solo Carne. Both came out on a small black grill placed in the center of the tables. The meats in the dishes were tender, still warm and had nice flavor. I wouldn't say they were show stoppers though where I feel the need to go back and eat them again. For the sides, we ordered basically one of each. I only had the chance to try Yucca fries though. Went to the st Pete location before a rowdies game and got the garlic shrimp and yucca fries which were delicious so tried this location for takeout during the week. The pics are $62 worth of food. The shrimp was about half the amount we got dining in, the yucca they clearly gave me what was left in the last batch out and the steak seems small but it was skirt so i won't dock that. I had to ask for the sauce with the yucca fries which the lady said i didn't ask for, but the menu said it came with it. Very disappointed and will not be back. Amazing evening! We had an 8:30 reservation for 5 and it took a few minutes to get seated, but to be fair they were short staffed. The owner Renzo was serving and seating. It's always nice to see an owner willing to roll up their sleeves with the staff. We started with a bottle of wine and the charcuterie board that was decorated with 4 types of meats, 3 types of cheese, and scattered accompaniments such as olives and honey. It was absolutely scrumptious! However, the night had just started and the steak took us all by surprise. It was simply put "some of the best steaks we had ever had" as quoted by our party. The Gorgonzola filet was cooked perfectly and melted away with each chew. The "All Beef" for two was amazing. It was a warmed plate that came with 2 sides of your choice, a New York strip, an order of short ribs, a flank steak, a sirloin, and a skirt steak! Each piece of meat was medium rare and cooked to perfection. Renzo himself stopped by our table on numerous occasions to check if we needed anything and was very grateful for our business even though it was packed. You could tell this a man who takes pride in his establishment. This review is for delivery via UberEats. I've eaten at Renzo's, but that was several years ago. Renzo's is an Argentinean steakhouse. When I last ate there, it was a fairly casual setting, but the quality of the meat was excellent. I ordered food to be delivered between 8-8:30. The original estimated delivery time was 8:05, but around 7:45, I got a text from the Uber driver that the restaurant was running late. Ultimately, we received the food at 8:20, which was within the original delivery period, but the restaurant did cause the poor driver to sit and wait for 15 minutes, which wasn't cool on the part of the driver. Being on a diet, we had salad as our sides. The side salad is nothing more than roughly shredded lettuce and chopped tomato. It was fine, but if you aren't on a low carb diet, I'd stick to one of the other sides. We had the Uruguay-style short ribs and the full-sized (12 oz) picanha. The short ribs were tender and flavorful. They were cooked more rare (we were not given the choice of temperature for the short ribs). I don't mind rare meat, but my husband does, so he gave me all of his center cuts. The picanha was quite good, although pretty fatty even for picanha. I liked their chimichurri, which was oily but well-seasoned. If I were to order again, I think I'd go with the 6oz picanha, unless I was aiming for leftovers. First time coming here because my friends wanted to do their happy hour. Turns out, we get there at 430pm on a Tuesday and are told off the 2-sided happy hour menu, the kitchen only has 6 items available. Honestly, that was extremely disappointing since we had already looked online at the menu and had ideas of what we wanted only to be told not available. Not to mention, the entire time we are the ONLY people there as customers but instead of coming over and clearing the empty dishes from the appetizers off. The staff just stood and talked at the counter for a majority of the time. I kept trying to stack the plates and push to the edge of table to make space for us since we had 2 appetizers, the bread and our drinks on the table with little room. It wasn't until the meals were brought out that they finally removed the finished plates. I do not recommend coming here for happy hour nor will I be coming back again at all. The churrasco was hard and rubbery, very hard to chew, felt like i was chewing gum. The charcuterie board is $25 for 5 pieces of salami and 2 others jams and 2 pieces of each cheese which there were like 5 different ones. Maybe it's cause the cuts of meat were so thin...I will say this though, the hostess was my best friend; she kept my iced tea filled and brought us whatever else we needed, but the actual server or order takers was never seen the rest of the evening after the food was dropped off. 2/5 Renzo's Parrilla $36.00 was a combination of Flank Steak, Short Rib, Top Sirloin, Chicken Breast, Pork Chop, Sausage, and 2 sides. Take a look at my photo and tell me if you think this was worth $36.00; the meats were over cooked and a little tough especially after ordering it medium rare. The short ribs were good but that's cause they were fatty, but other than that, the value for this dish is on the low end. 3/5 Parrilla Solo Carne $45.00 was more of the same but included skirt steak, flap meat, top sirloin and short ribs; the slices of meat were so thin that there were all overcooked and dried out. If I was buying dinner, best believe I would have sent the meats back and have them redo a new one at the right temperature, but being that I was a guest, I didn't want to make a scene and act like a boludo, but you're a steakhouse and the grill person should know that each meat requires a different cook time due to thickness and cut of beef. In this case, it's certain that the person placed all the meats on the grill at one time and just left them sitting there until the last one was ready and then sent them all out to table. It takes a real parrillero to do the right job and unfortunately, the person this afternoon dropped the ball. Tampa's options when it comes to parrillada restaurants may be far and few between, so this place passes as being authentic and true, but without sweetbreads and chinchulín, it's lacking the real authentic grilled meats that should also come with their mixed parrillada plates, and that's coming from someone who knows a great deal about Argentine restaurants. Maybe even throw in a grilled red pepper for good measure or at least offer that as a side since the sides were so unforgettable. We received dried white rice, yuca fries and mashed potatoes. Even the bread we were given was a mixed bag; some of it was warm and soft, and the other basket was from other tables that were hard and cold. How do I know this? The warm ones were still stuck together and you needed to pull them apart; it comes like this frozen from the manufacturer and then heated in an over and then served to the customer. However, the servers or bussers will collect the leftover uneaten bread from the other tables after they've left where they go into a recycling area that are then put together for the next table; although it's certainly an unhygienic practice...most all small restaurants do this, including this one. If only they can get their cook temps right, and offer a bit of a better value, I would definitely return when back in Tampa... read more

We were a group of 6 adults with a confirmed reservation on Saturday 11/9/2024 @ 7:00pm. Location: South Tampa - Kennedy Blvd. We promptly arrived for our reservation. Greeted by a gentleman at the front check-in area. He confirmed our reservation and stated it would be about 10 mins for our table to be available. He suggested we have a seat at the bar behind him. Only 4 seats available together. We made the best of the situation and prepared to order a cocktail. Only wine and beer sold. We decided on 5 sangrias and 1 soda. Servers behind bar (only two females and one was elderly) did not approach us for our order. We waited about 15 mins and managed to get the attention of one of the bar servers. When we began to place our order, she told us that she only prepared drinks for the tables. After 25 mins of waiting (restaurant was very busy, but a few 4 top tables available), we noticed others who arrived after us were being seated. We asked the same gentleman how much longer we would be waiting for our table. He pointed to the back corner & stated as soon as that table became available. One group member who was speaking to another group member made a comment regarding the wait and empty tables. The gentleman overheard the conversation and rudely asked our group member what did she want him to do, that he was doing the best he could and couldn't help if the table had not become available. Another group member told the gentleman to calm down and that there was no need to be so rude. Also that we couldn't even order a drink from the bar. The gentleman offered to personally get our drinks. This gentleman, was observed as working as the host, clearing tables, bringing supplies to the bar such as ice and was likely the manager. Eventually we received the 5 sangrias without the "frozen looking" fruits and a soda. Sangria was not very good. 50 minutes later still no table, people at table still lingering and socializing. We decided to leave without a word. As we were driving away we noticed the gentleman coming out the door and looking around (it appeared that he was looking for us}. We just kept driving. What a waste of our time. Not enough staff. Walkins being seated ahead of those of us with a reservation because the manager couldn't be bothered to join two 4 top tables. After she brought our drinks I immediately ordered an appetizer of bread baskets and my husband ordered some empanadas. Our empanadas were delicious and came out quick. However, the server never asked if anyone wanted to order any appetizers and the bread basket - never came until our dinner and it was because I asked another server why the status was. We had 3 kids, one is a 1 year old and we needed something for him to snack on, so not having the bread out when we asked caused a bit of a problem. The delivery on the entrees was horrible. Half of the table got their food while the other side had nothing. Never ever in a restaurant with a big party do you bring only some of the people's food out. Meanwhile, we ordered a kids meal - which they only option they have is chicken fingers and fries and it was not good at all. Finally after ten minutes of the first group of entrees being brought out the rest of us got our food. Mind you 2 of us ordered a salad with our dinner and asked for it to come out first and it didn't. When it came time to check out - our checks were all mixed up. At this point we were all so frustrated, we just paid and left and they also automatically put a 18% tip on parties of 6 or more even if everyone is separate checks.
