I had an adequate experience at Republik Coffee (Monrovia). I ordered the Pistachio Latte ($7 - Iced). It's espresso with roasted pistachio syrup and pistachio crumbles. Its caffeine is weak like a Starbucks' mocha. This coffee did not wake me up. I arrived at Republik Coffee (Monrovia) on Tuesday (around 12:40PM). This afternoon, parking felt challenging despite the many options. Lines of cars were competing to take spots for the lunch rush. There's a rear public parking lot that's fairly huge, but it took several minutes of scanning until finding an available parking space. Staff is very professional, friendly, and hardworking. Staff (receipt says Claudia) answered all of my questions with a smile. Claudia even provided concern when she spotted me counting electrical outlets for this review. "Did you lose something, Ian?" she'd inquired. It's even more impressive that she remembered my name despite the nonstop flow of guests. My drink took two minutes and 17 seconds. Good pace! As mentioned, the Pistachio Latte ($7 - Iced) left me sleepy and literally yawning. It's more comparable to pistachio milk tea than coffee. It felt very casual and commercialized for customers that dislike coffee. The pistachio latte is a little too milky, but I appreciated the real bits of pistachio. The ambiance at Republik Coffee (Monrovia) is horrible for study and work. It's loud like a nightclub!! The loud sound system made everything vibrate; the location's acoustics were echoey, so chatter was amplified; and the cramped interior forced customers to hear the clanking from the counter. In addition, I counted only three accessible electrical outlets in Republik Coffee (Monrovia). Fortunately, there's customer internet with password; the details are on the printed receipt, and they're displayed by the counter. There's also a gender neutral restroom and a self-service water station. This location has numerous tables despite the limited space. There's nine interior tables, ten patio tables, and a few tables in front. It's also fairly clean, but its floors appeared unswept. At the very least, the tables sparkled. However, if visiting, the most aesthetically pleasing location will be the rear patio. The green lush wall will make a pretty photo. Overall, I left Republik Coffee (Monrovia) underwhelmed. It felt like a brunch nightclub posing as a coffee spot. The ambiance and staff are the true heroes of this establishment... 3.4 out of 5 read more

It's so exciting to get a new trendy craft coffee shop past the Pasadena area, they usually all stop over there and republik even has a location there. The coffee was nice and strong, I was surprised with my hazelnut latte having actual nut shavings in it. I had heard great things about their Pasadena location and was excited when they opened one in Monrovia since it's so much closer to me and had to go try. There is street parking or parking in one of the lots. We tried some pastries - the ham and cheese croissant and blueberry loaf along with cortado and the purple caramel latte (it was recommended iced). The pastries were OK. It was odd for me that the croissant was sweet for ham and cheese. The hubby did enjoy the blueberry loaf. I did enjoy my iced purple caramel latte. Just a hint of ube for a nice flavor and not too sweet or overpowering. I also tried the ube rice pudding but didn't taste the ube. Fun Fact: Coffee is the second most traded commodity after oil. For some of us, coffee is a sacred daily ritual. Myself included. I love Republik's coffee lounge in Pasadena, so I was excited to check out their new café in Monrovia. I met everyone's favorite Yelp coffee connoisseur here on a Sunday morning. Good thing we arrived when they opened because the place was packed 20 mins later. The shop is smaller than the Pasadena location. It's cozy with seating areas along the wall. There is also a picturesque back patio. The darling girl at the register was genuinely nice, and the barista (I think her name was Bella) was also sweet. I ordered a cortado with almond milk and the Yelp Rockstar got a London Fog & Turmeric the Ginger Latte. My Cortado was perfect. My coffee date liked the Turmeric Ginger Latte over the London Fog. We both had other engagements to attend, so we didn't order food. They do serve breakfast items, sandwiches, & pastries. I've had the pastries before, and they are tasty. #176 in my Coffeeshop Chronicles. I've been saying for years that Monrovia needs more artisan coffeeshops. It used to just be Grey & Cash and the franchises like Starbucks. Then San Fernando Coffee Company moved in last year, and now we have Republik! (I say "we" even though I don't actually live here. But I'm here often enough! Lol). Republik's newest location in Monrovia isn't as large as the OG Pasadena location, but there are still plenty of small tables inside. And fortunately, their menu is the same as the other locations. I ordered the Purple caramel latte, which is made with brown sugar, condensed milk, and ube. The ube was very subtle, just enough to turn the drink purple really. The drink was still pretty good, as long as you're not expecting it to taste like actual ube drinks at Asian coffeeshops, where the flavors are more prominent. The Republik Coffee is new to Myrtle Street in Monrovia. It has a warm atmosphere and they make the most out of this narrow coffee shop. The food is delicious with many choices for savory or sweet options. The drip coffee is very good and my husband had tea and he said it was good. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They are weak on service but most of the staff are just learning their jobs. Thus the ordering process is slow and getting your order feels kind of random as it comes out in bits and pieces. There's loads of street or lot parking to get here. They have some indoor and outdoor seating but somewhat limited. It's causal and chill inside. If there's a line, it moves fairly quick. The staff are nice and helpful. They have loads of pastries! I'd like to try some next time! I got the pumpkin cheesecake latte. It was pretty good. Not too sweet. So excited Republik Coffee is finally open in Old Town Monrovia!! Today is the day they start their soft opening. We loved the coffees and pastries we tried and everyone was so friendly! I arrived right at opening and when I left the line was already almost out the door lol. For my drink, I tried the seasonal Purple Caramel Latte (iced) and loved it! A wonderful balance between the ube and caramel flavors and their coffee is very smooth. It's also beautiful! Hubby tried the Turmeric Ginger Latte (hot) - perfectly spiced and cozy - we would get both of these again. I really love that all of their syrups are made in-house. For our breakfast we sampled the ham and cheese croissant, raspberry danish, and orange polenta. The flavors are fantastic and their pastries all had flawless texture! Their croissants are light and flaky and not greasy at all. The ham they used was quality for sure. The orange polenta was my favorite- plenty of strong orange flavor which is sometimes missing in these cakes. The sweetness levels in the Tumeric Ginger Latte and their sweet pastries is pretty sweet - but I don't regularly eat much sugar so definitely a preference of my palate. I still thought they were excellent and would get all these items again. The sweetness level in the Purple Caramel Latte was very muted and perfect for me so if you're looking for something not as intensely sweet - go for that one. The vibes are sleek and modern, Mediterranean style with lovely tiled walls and accents. There was already quite a crowd forming at opening - very lively vibes with general excited chatter and upbeat music in the background. A great place to catch up with friends - but if you're looking for a quiet spot to get some work done, they have a very cozy and quiet back patio as well. Service is friendly and enthusiastic - prices are moderate but definitely consistent with the area and the quality. Republik is a small locally owned coffee shop chain with cafes in Pasadena and Burbank and now Old Town Monrovia! You'll find them in the spot where the Sunday's Old Town Bistro used to be. It's an excellent location - Old Town is very walkable and they're in a prime spot on the main drag - great for grabbing a coffee before walking around or relaxing inside with some pastries to do some people watching or catch up on emails. Plenty of free parking on the streets or in the public lots scattered around nearby. Given that their other locations have such high ratings, we've been eagerly awaiting their arrival - totally lived up to the hype and we're happy they're finally open! Really solid location for my morning fix of food and coffee! Everything was well made and flavorful plus excellent, attentive service. I was here for the soft opening weekend but the line was pretty quick. The sea salt cold brew had a nice caramel-like hint of flavor. I also loved the salmon cucumber toast, which has a nice mix of capers and pickled cucumber to make it a very tasty yet well balanced toast. Republik Coffee (est 2025) is a brand new coffee shop location in Old Town Monrovia; they're popular coffee brand known for its quality coffee, house-made syrups, and pastries, celebrating its soft opening in December 2025. I have been to one of their other locations in Pasadena. This bldg suite that RC currently occupies was a French Bistro but sadly went out of business. I am ebullient that they opened a location in my favorite old town. I came on their soft opening for a late breakfast. As I cross the street, there was a small crowd buzzing at this coffee shop. I quickly perused at their compendious menu. While I was waiting on line at the counter there were two white women from a far end table who appeared to be waving toward my direction, then a lady behind me who said they're definitely not waving at me. She stated they must be for you because you're good looking (she made quick glance). And then she realized it was his son's h.s. teacher. Lol. Anyways, back to this review. :D I ordered a Chicken Pesto Panini (with side of salad) and a hot Latte. Sandwich was bloody fresh, warm and delicious as well as the salad. Moreover, the hobbit size Latte was adorable and perfectly made to my liking. Moreover, I was able to meet and chat with the owner at their rear outdoor patio. He is such a wonderful person. Interior was neat and organized with a relaxing vibe. Seats were comfortable. Staff were affable and professional. Prices were economically competitive. Public parking was abundant. All the food was delicious, the pamplano chorizo in the breakfast burrito is divine. Coming in this warm intimate environment only makes you want to smile. I wanted to try this place because it's close to my job and I figured I'd grab some food before work. Unfortunately, it was a pretty frustrating experience. I placed my order and waited over 35minutes for food that never came out. Meanwhile, people who ordered after me were already getting their food. After waiting and waiting, I finally checked on my order and it seemed like it had been forgotten or never put in correctly. At that point, I had to cancel my order because I was running out of time and needed to get to work. I ended up wasting about 40 minutes and left without eating anything. I understand mistakes happen, but it would have been nice if someone had acknowledged the mistake or offered something for the inconvenience. They definitely need a better system because customers shouldn't be getting skipped like that. This is a brand new place and it is right in the center of downtown Monrovia. Plenty of parking especially during the week. It's really cute and tight inside, there's enough sitting for a slower day, weekends might be a little tight. I got the lavender oat over ice and it was so good! I love republik in Pasadena so I had to try the new Monrovia location. I definitely think it's slightly different but it's still ok. Staff is definitely over worked because I do get attitude. Republix Coffee has a cool atmosphere and the coffee itself is definitely the highlight. I ordered the iced Black Vanilla Latte with almond milk, and it was honestly excellent. The espresso was smooth, the vanilla flavor was subtle but noticeable, and the almond milk worked really well with it. If you come here just for coffee, you'll probably leave happy. for the Coffee Where things went downhill for me was the food. I tried the premade carne asada burrito, which cost about $20. Flavor-wise it was actually pretty good, but the portion was shockingly small for the price and the tortilla was very dry. It felt more like a snack than a burrito, especially at that price point. The carrot almond cake was unfortunately one of the driest pieces of cake I've ever had. It was so dry it was almost hard to swallow. I even gave my dog a tiny piece and it was so dry he started choking on it too. Then there was the berry matcha muffin, which was so hard it honestly could have doubled as a hockey puck. Between the latte, burrito, cake, and muffin, the bill came out to over $53 with a 15% tip, which felt pretty outrageous considering the quality of the food. Bottom line: Come here for the coffee, because it's very good. But skip the overpriced food, especially the baked goods. read more
