Restaurant 45 - Beet salad with salmon - Italian Near Me - Medway, Massachusetts

Oof. This was our first visit. It started out strong. The prosciutto and mozzarella appetizer was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was so friendly and pleasant. I ordered the veal saltimboca with angel hair pasta. My husband ordered the Filet Malcomb and asked to sub the green beans for asparagus. He also ordered a second beer since he had finished his first. This is where it went down hill. I don't know if the problem was the waitress or the back of house, but my husband was given the wrong beer. All good, we pointed it out, and he was eventually given the correct beer. Not the biggest deal. The food came out and I immediately noticed that my husband's meal was missing the brandy mustard cream sauce. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said she'd go ask the kitchen. I don't know if the order was entered wrong initially or changed after the mistake was pointed out, but we were charged for the simple filet instead of the filet malcomb, but that's not what we ordered. He said the quality of the meat was poor and it was chewy. The potatoes were a little too roasted and tasted charred. He didn't really enjoy it. The sauce and mushrooms didn't come out until he was half way done with his meal. My veal saltimboca was cooked well and tasted pretty good, but there were no sage leaves in the meal. I think maybe there was sage powder in the sauce, but it left a lot to be desired. Saltimboca should have sage leaves. The sauce was just too oily. Look, I need to be fair - it was still tasty and I still enjoyed the meal despite the flaws, but I think it's unfair to call this saltimboca, even though it had most of the components. The one thing I couldn't at all understand it that my pasta was served with red sauce. It didn't say it was served with red sauce on the menu, so... why? Who made that decision? Why on earth would you serve pasta with red sauce with a meal that did not have red sauce? I didn't bother eating it. It was not a cheap meal - $89 for two entrees, three beers and an app. It absolutely didn't feel worth what we paid. The staff at Restaurant 45 was aces. From the friendly people that we met at the door to our waitress, everyone had a sunny disposition that added to the afternoon. I met some cousins for lunch and the first thing that surprised me was the reasonable prices. What I would be paying $26 for in MetroWest, was only $10.95. Wow. The chicken piccata was a different, with pieces of white meat chicken, instead of the tradition large chicken breast. There was a bit too much oil in the dish, but it was quite edible. The risotto, asparagus and mushroom - was WONDERFUL. Creamy, rich and plenty of it for about $6.00. The pizza was quite nice - a basic, tasty pepperoni and mushroom. I would definitely go back. Ordered chicken broccoli and ziti for takeout. It was awful. No flavor. I was on the fence about calling to complain. I waited a few days and was told by the manager on duty Danielle that there was nothing she could do. I couldn't believe that she had no empathy and offered no option to correct the bad experience. It was my fault for waiting 5 days she stated in not so many words. I advised Danielle that my only recourse was to write a review on the bad experience. She didn't respond nor care. She just hung up the phone without ending the conversation. I called back to confirm her name. I was told by the hostess that I was yelling at Danielle. The hostess on duty herself hung up on me. Danielle should not be in a management position. I have been a customer at this restaurant for 9 years. I am disappointed in how I was treated. I was on the call inside of my car, I did not yell at either employee. Perhaps they both need a little more customer service training. Or maybe it's because about 2% of their customers are people of color. Which explains why they thought it was okay to Hangul on a customer two times. It's nice to know that a place I frequented 9+ years thinks it's okay to treat customers that are different than them like they are less than human. Came here over the weekend for a friend's baby shower and had a blast! The food and drinks were delicious and staff was super friendly. If this place wasn't so far from where I live, I'd be a regular here! Highly recommend the penne primavera if they serve it at non-function events/on the regular menu. read more

We stopped for lunch. Ordered mussels and calamari as apps. Mussels were good, squid was out of a bag and not cooked long enough,and sauces were pretty poor. Bloody Mary was very weak, just a mix and not high quality. Salads we had for lunch were ok, but not high quality. We arrived and were immediately seated. We started off with the stuffed mushrooms which were amazing and ordered a pepperoni pizza for my son to come with the app because he was so hungry. The waitress said she would wait to put in our meals until the app came. Much appreciated as I hate when my app comes and the food quickly follows behind. We waited over 30 minutes after the stuffed mushrooms to come for our meal. When we asked where the meals were she said she would check... at this point we were past even eating as tables that were sat after us were leaving. Very disappointed. Something has happened to this restaurant since pre COVID. Used to et therre all the time and it was delicious. I don't know who they have as a chef now but it's not longer good inf fact just plain awfule. While food may have nice presentation it's awful to taste and eat. Quality of food is lacking and bizarre combinatins. I know prices have increased but double! And for such poor quality. I swear my dish had canned gravy on it, a side of Gnocci with pesto was downing it this awful pest and gnocci were like mush. Also be very careful when reading the menue. Everything you want is an upcharge and be prepared for this tricker: pasta OR two sides. So if you want pasta you side will be billed as an a la carte not as a side, $6 for a tiny dish of plain spinach and $9 for a side of Caesar Salad which I could not find listed on the menue anywhere. When I asked the server how much a side of Caesar would be she said she didn't know & I said never mind I'll have it. When I questeioned her about it when I got the bill she just kept repeating the same thing over & over not adressing my question. I have been here 4 times recently and 2 of my meals were just about inedible, 1 was a surprise (I never expected a dish to be prepared as it was) and the other was OK. I think I will passo n going here in the future. I did try calling and asking for the manager, but the person that came on the line did not want to identify herself nor confirm that she was the manager and was just plain rude, yelling at me while telling me I was yelling at her!, talking over me and then hanging up on me. My boyfriend and I LOVE this place! Staff is friendly, food is great, one of the only places I force dessert down after a big delicious meal because it's SO good!! Food is quite average for the price. Seems that the cooks there love salt, and think you should too. (There's a reason why there is salt at a table, so one can add their own, if they so choose.) My husband and I think most of the wait staff are super unfriendly, the only nice one there is the blonde younger guy. He's probably the most attentive there. The other older ladies could seemingly care less if your drinks are filled, if you need something else etc. There's far too many other restaurants around that have much better food at the same prices, and have servers with better attitudes. read more

I am going to give 3 stars because the food is good. The portions are now smaller then they use to be. Take out does not taste the same as dine in, it's as if they toss whatever together and put it into a container. You expect a decent meal for the price and thats not what you get. read more

We ordered in from this restaurant. I got The Mediterranean salad with beets and artichokes added. Was delicious. The Cajun waffle fries were Great. We had 5 people eating. We had a 6 year old who got the chicken nuggets. They were soft and not cooker appropriately. Def wouldn't recommend. My bf got the chicken parm. He really liked. Another friend got the serloin burger and that was good. A bit pricey I thought. Could do a better job in packing the to go boxes. We had sauce leaking out. No to go cups for the drinks. read more

We ordered curbside takeout during the "stay at home" time of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a very easy online ordering process on their website. I experienced fast and conscientious service when picking up the order. I felt relatively safe interacting with their employee, especially after the restaurant shared on Facebook the certificates of special training their employees received to handle food service during this pandemic. The food was excellent - everyone had burgers, chicken tenders, and fries. All food was cooked to order and packaged nicely. It was a nice way to get a meal "out" during a difficult time. Well this place is definitely not what it seems! The renovations are a nice touch, but not glamorous enough to put a shine to the bad taste of food unfortunately. I ordered the jambalaya on a bed of rice pilaf that was soggy with watered down sauce. And very low quality chicken that had a bit of a irony taste that was accompanied by a slimy rubbery texture. The presentation of the meal was horrible and unappetizing. The lava cake which I'm sure a 12 year old could put together was delicious. And my waitress was delightful and polite but for some reason the chef was yelling in the back so every time the kitchen door swung open it was very unpleasant. This is ABSOLUTE IMMATURE behavior that is 100% distasteful for customers trying to enjoy their shitty over priced meal. read more

Just average with nothing exceptional about the meal. Caesar salad was super cold to the bite with little flavor....and no parm cheese....clearly made well in advance and kept in a cold fridge. Steak tips were nicely flavored but when combined with a sub-par salad the meal fell well short of good. At any wedding event the caterers have asked the bride and groom how they would like ALL their food prepared for the drive home so it would be properly taken care of. Although the food is always great, my wife hosted a bridal shower for my daughter at 45 today and I have to give their event staff a very low grade. Despite being one of the happiest moments for my daughter, one of the rude and inattentive staff at 45 made my wife feel stressed and beguiled. Someone brought a nip in as a joke and one of the waitresses threatened to "shut the event down" if it happened again. But they were sure quick to make sure they added their 18% gratuity without question of how good the service was (or wasn't in this case). Had we had a choice it would have been less than 10%! For them to try and ruin my daughter's day with trivial issues is a shame. If someone is that unhappy with their job that they take it out in the mother of the bride is a disgrace. To add insult to injury, the staff wouldn't even let us take the the large amounts of leftovers home, stating it was against the board of health rules. But you can take leftovers home after a dinner? I checked and couldn't find any such statute. I'm sure the staff enjoyed taking home our overpriced leftovers to their families at our expense. We're locals to Medway and never had such a bad experience at 45 until today. But it left such a bad taste in our mouth I doubt we'll return. December 2016 I hosted a party in the large function room for over 60 people at Restaurant 45. In one word - AWESOME! Planning was easy - I met with Lisa, one of the managers and she helped me with the menu details and how to best organize the beverage service. I selected the deluxe buffet. Entrees were chicken ziti and broccoli, baked Haddock and their delicious sirloin tips. The food was absolutely delicious and I have received so many compliments from my guests!! Today, I learned one of the guests had a gluten allergy ( I was not aware in advance) and was made a special meal from the kitchen-- what service! So the food was awesome and the venue decorated beautiful for the holidays - but the evening would not have been the huge success that it was if not for the terrific servers. Mary and Katie were so professional, personable and hard working. It is Not easy working a big crowd with lots of drink orders as well as organizing the buffet and desert service. In addition, the manager on duty was Lisa who checked in several times throughout the night to make sure everything was running smoothly. A 5 star event! JUNE 2019 Update I was flabbergasted by the ridiculous reviews from June and Christina-- I have hosted 4 function events in the past year and dine here on a regular basis.
