This spot is alright! It's not going to wow you but a decent place to hold a gathering. Cozy in the front and spacious in the back where you can have a DJ and dance vibes. My friends rented the place out for a private birthday event which did the job. The one thing that caused concern for me was a few people in our party having some issues with their bill and being over charged. One of my friends only ordered two drinks but got charged for four and was told that someone bought drinks on their tab which they were completely unaware about. Pretty perfect spot for a party! Megan and Troy (management) are awesome and easy to work with when planning an event. No menu, so just ask for what you like and the drinks are very reasonable with $10 well cocktails. They have a good selection of Liquor with some pretty interesting bottles I haven't seen before. The space is such a cool vibe with the car couches, and the bar made from old shredded money. Comedy scene is fun too with open mic and heckle twice a week. Not always open so check their events before you show up, or better yet plan a Christmas party like I did! read more

Revision Lounge is an amazing and unique spot! I always love the atmosphere here. From the upside-down neon Bud Lite sign in the window, to the artwork, to the recycled Cadillac DJ booth in the back, you can just tell that so much thought has been put into every inch of this place. The sound has always been solid when I've seen bands in the back area, and the separation of the bar area means that you can still stop in for a drink even if an event in going on. Fantastico! Dipped in for a drink, and...WOW...my kind of bar. Being an old head from back in the day I've seen and been to a lot. Finally, a place with charm, warmth and some personality. There was original art on the wall(not some cheap $1.50 reproduction crap). Music was diverse, sometimes bordering on obscure which of course forced me to find out who the artist was more than a few times (always a big plus in my book)...big kudos for the music, solid throughout and no crap. Found it easy getting drinks at the bar (they even have a giant pineapple water cooler so u can get a glass of water with some good luck without any bar drama). And to top it all off, a legend Vic Thrill in my book comes on and blows my old used up, crusted, mind...sounded f'n great!!! I gushed all over myself...repeatedly. There should be a band playing every night...yeah it sounded that good...highly recommend hearing anything there...hell Tom Hanks could even sing "This land is your land" and it would sound good in that space. The lights are nice and low (a must for anyone with half a brain) making my grey hair "distinguished" and suddenly my wife is also "in the mood"....MAY GOD (or space aliens) BLESS THIS PLACE...and all who enter it!!! The bartender here is extremely rude. I went to a comedy show with 4 people and we left early because of the way he was acting. He seems at odds with his colleagues because he yelled at the other bartender too. It was super awkward because there were maybe 15-20 people at the comedy show. The comedy show was funny, so I feel bad that a quarter of their audience left midway, but you can blame the bartender. read more

i've lived in the East Village for 3 years and didn't know this bar existed until this year! This place is something else. I had a comedy show where I paid a venue. The top comic I had, decided to work with Revision Lounge by hosting a comedy show at the same time and date as the one I scheduled her for. And used my event against me. I brought this to attention to Revision Lounge and rather than take my complaint seriously or show any attempt to make it up to me. They decided to double down to promote the event. Basically, if you host an event in Lower East Side, make sure whoever you book doesn't try to work with Revision Lounge to take away attendance from your own event. read more

Great experience. My friends and I take over the dance floor every time we go. So always keep an eye out for the guy with the curly hair . The bar is quick and easy to serve. The DJ keeps you on your toes with every song. Bringing you back all the way to your young days. Yet keeping you in the present with some modern hits that will keep your feet blazing. Some days more than others the playlist selection is great. So weekends are a must. I would definitely recommend to go after 10 or so when the fun is just beginning. Anything before that is a good time to chit-chat with some friends and let the mood from the bar settle in. Super HIP dance floor!!! Woot!! P.S. The shtick: Supposedly all their furniture is repurposed; hence, "revision" (and I guess "gallery"). But it's too dark once you're inside to tell or care. The space is clean and inoffensive, with neither the charming grunge of a dive nor the pulsing energy of a club. Bar in front, dance-if-you-wanna room with a DJ and couches in the back. A door at the further end leads to a small outdoor area for smokers, and happily, none of that business blew inside. The music was fun, danceable R&B (old-school, plus... Macklemore). Drinks were not too pricey; a Weihenstephaner was less than a pint but only $6. At 11:30pm on a Saturday it was awkwardly empty, but grew more crowded as the night wore on. The crowd was polite and non-notable, which is better than the alternative. But the bathroom situation by 2am sucks thoroughly - a haphazard line begins forming outside the 3 available restrooms and quickly crowds into the bar, cluttering up any room to move around. If I were already in the area, I might come back for the music. The bouncer and the bartender were both mildly douchey but I'll close my eyes and assume it's a one-time thing. read more

The bar stools are made of skis, the chairs are made of tires, the back bar is lit by lampshades on a tuba and a flute, some of the couches in the back room are made of claw foot bathtubs. It's full of cool little details and you'll notice a new one every time you visit. This place is only open Wednesdays through Saturdays, and they close earlier than normal bar closing time. This is not always apparent, however, because the staff (and/or their friends?) may sometimes linger at the bar well after the bartenders have (at least mentally) shut down for the night. The vibe can change quickly on a Saturday night from perfunctory cordiality to aloofness, even though your money is still as green at 3AM as it was an hour before, when the crowd was composed of paying customers and not just people that work there. Of all the bars and lounges that I've been to over the years, that are old, overpriced, way too packed for no reason, and have glacier speed service from bartenders....this one is probably one of the worst. Went on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday - I don't love places that are schizo and have a bar upfront and loungey/dancing area in the back, but I can live with it. Except, it all just melts together, we have ppl in the lounge trying to get drinks, but they can't, unless they go all the way to the bar. And the bar is packed, with ppl who aren't really buying anything, they're just dancing there, because they can't get to the lounge in the back. And so, here's the worst part, 2 bartenders, I'm nice to them, been buying drinks for 1-2 hrs already, card on tab - and then, they decide to serve every girl by the bar. Which is still fine, ladies first, I get it, I don't mind - but when 10 ladies, 5 of whom came over after me get served first? That's just a little ridiculous. Waited 20 min, no drinks, no attention, I just left. Went across the street to the dive, grabbed a guinness for a few bucks, in less than 1 minute. I was so done with the ridiculousness in revision that I didn't even bother to go back and get my credit card, until 1 month later. And when I did go back, these guys do not open when at their listed opening time. 7:30 pm, lights are on, no one running the place, door's locked - wait, waiting, waiting, just like that night at the bar again. 8 pm, finally someone shows up, turns on the music, looks at me out the door, ignores me as I wave, and he goes behind the bar to look at papers. 8:15 pm, finally gives enough shit to open the door, takes 10-15 min to get my credit card. So many better places in nyc, this place just feels kinda unnecessary. read more

Found this amazing bar for my boyfriend's 25th birthday party. Booking a reservation was so easy via email. Bottle service is required to reserve a table. We decided to reserve the popular DJ booth / coffin seating in the middle of the back room. I received clear instructions on the no real fur dress code and request for guests to arrive by midnight. We arrived at 9:30pm to an empty warm bar, safe from the bitter cold wind. The empty bar allowed us to observe the recycled furniture and sit on each chair like Goldie Locks. There is free coat check by the entrance (basically an unattended coat rack. No belongings went missing). It was hard to predict how crowded the bar will get on a Saturday following Thanksgiving. By 10pm, our guests started to trickle in. 10:30pm, the other tables filled up. 11pm, suddenly the bar was filled. I think we had the resident DJ for the night and he gave us a great hiphop throwback experience. We ended up ordering two handles of Kettle One ($250 ea + $50 tip). Our waitress (argh I'm kicking myself trying to remember her name... Brittany?? no? I should've written my review sooner) was SUPER friendly. She was awesome. She worked the bar but also visited our table often. She took care of us so well and I couldn't have asked for anyone better. We left sooner than I would have liked. The birthday boy had too many back-to-back shots of whiskey within a short time frame. His younger brother was drinking at a bar for the first time and kept down just about the same amount of liquor as his brother. Eventually the birthday boy fell asleep on our couch (as he does after any night of heavy drinking) and got kindly kicked out of his own party (as he does every year). The bouncer was very nice about it though and did not give us a hard time. I'm sad to have left so soon but I know that my unforgettable experience at Revision will bring me back again and again. I will be sad when word gets out about this amazing bar and it gets too packed. I would love to have my birthday celebration here next year. read more

Nothing says romance like bringing a date to a backroom with dim lights and a couch made out of a coffin. Revision Lounge & Gallery has a really cool concept. They have it's decor and furnishing made out of old reused objects turned into pieces of art. A bar top of compressed shredded dollar bills. Bar stools with backs made out of skies. Front of a old Chevy turned into a D.J. booth and of course coffins couches. C'mon, it's technically someone's final resting place so you know it has to be pretty comfortable. My date was concerned whether or not they were previously used. I asked, and was disappointed to find out they were not. I was here first for a party and had a great time. During the warmer months they have a small back area which is outside. Since then I've come several times, the crowd is either hit or just non existent. When people are in there it's a fun place. Other times, it's virtually empty. Not a bad if you're just showing someone something different in the East Village, because this isn't like most places in the East Village. read more

On a Thursday night there probably 7 people hanging out, and that included the DJ, bartender and resident Bar Dog wandering around. If you're looking for a place steeped in kitch, this is it. Their schtick is Recycled and Repurposed. (get it? Revision Lounge?? Ehhh??) The DJ booth is the front of an old car, the booths are coffins and the bar stools are made from skis. Why don't bartenders like talking to me? Am I scary? Overwhelming? Hideously deformed? Who knows, but this guy was not friendly. The drink he made was fine, but it was gin and tonic, I mean not incredibly complicated. My drinking buddy's was equally simple. Bleh, I don't like talking to sad-faced brick walls. After one drink and watching a drunk couple awkwardly dance and make out to 80s music in an empty room, my drinking buddy and I decided to hightail it outta there. Friday night's birthday celebration continued at Revision, which to me was just a run-of-the-mill bar with a few tables to reserve for larger groups. The drinks were pretty standard. Also, there is a $20 card minimum, which means that in order to use one, you have to order at least three drinks. And when I paid in cash for two that totaled $16 with a $20 bill and was given $2 in change, I wondered why they don't just make life easier for everyone and lower the minimum. I was the first of three patrons at the bar waiting to order a drink, but the last one to be served. When it was my turn to order, I asked for a seltzer. He put ice in a cup. I then asked for no ice and apologized, and then he said "you should have told me that beforehand", and theatrically threw it across to the furthest ice tray. I'm normally not a confrontational person, but given his attitude, I felt it was warranted to point out that I was skipped twice among the three people waiting to be served, which provoked him to kick me out of the bar. This was after I paid to see a comedy show there, which I did enjoy at the time. Three of my friends left with me, and the four of us agreed that we will not patronize this place again, given the awful service. Also worth mentioning, this bartender was incredibly slow at his job. Had my birthday here and the decoration is cool. They turned the back of a car into a sofa and chairs made out of skis. But drinks are so bad here. Plus really expensive, even for a beer. AMAZING spot! Threw a surprise birthday party for my boyfriend here and the staff was incredible. So accommodating and reliable, placed my balloons I had delivered in such a nice way, made sure the curtains were closed upon our arrival, and just from the music to the drinks to the environment, this place is a hidden gem for sure. Between the music (Pixies, Billy Idol, the Smiths, to Britney) and the service AND the ambience (the coffin area is SO much cooler & less scary than it sounds), Revision is a home run. It's because they have a backroom that is full of couches made out of cars, the dj booth has headlights, AND last Friday they played 50s rock n roll music the whole night. if you can get past the smell of drying polyurethane, this place is a cool place to relax and have a drink. They've done some amazing stuff with repurposed materials. Design Recycling in a cool lounge atmosphere, I really dig the shredded money bartop and the Lincoln Continental front end that they turned into the DJ booth. I think the real sacrilege in the place isn't the couches made out of coffins but the love seat in the back end of a 60's Chevy Bel Air (that car should still be rolling down the street somewhere). Owner designer was really cool dude and very proud of his creation. As an added bonus the amped up Scottsman they have bartending can swear in 9.5 languages. I was looking for a bar for my friend's Bachelorette party. When I visited Revision a few weeks ago, I knew this would be the perfect spot. I emailed Megan, the event coordinator, and she immediately responded to me and offered two options: either reserve a specific table and get bottle service OR reserve a table (that she would assign us) for free. No bottle service required. We went with the 2nd option and it worked out so well. We arrived around 11pm on Saturday night and Megan had reserved us a corner table/sofas with plenty of room for our group of about 12. We were right by the DJ who played fun music the whole night. It was full but never too crowded or uncomfortable. Revision is an ideal spot to hold a gathering given that it is spacious, fun, laid back, and hassle-free. Plus being able to reserve a table/sofa for free is huge!! And Megan is a pleasure to work with - always responsive and she took care of everything. I reserved a space for a farewell party, the coffin lounge which I think is the best area, right in the middle in front of the car dj booth under the chandelier. The place is a little tricky to spot being unmarked and seemingly no bouncer outside but once inside, walking past the main bar into the lounge area you'll find all the "reVisioned" items. It was easy to reserve, the whole night went off without a hitch. I would definitely organise something here again. read more
