The food here delicious. There is no mistaking that, HOWEVER as of today and the writing of this review (10/30/2024) the prices (listed on their Google menu site) are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. Chicken and waffles is $28 A half chicken is $22 Half rack of ribs is $39 WHICH EXCLUDES THE SIDES!!!! Go down the street to a Southern BBQ place known as C &G's Smoking Barbecue and you'll see: Whole slab of ribs $28.50 Whole chicken $20 And sides are also additional but only $2-3 each. Revival's food is very good, but there are other MUCH more affordable and just as good options out there. I was going to end on a play-on-words... but what's the opposite of the word Revival??? It's too scary to type...
Revival is such a solid restaurant. I can't believe I've lived here for as long as I have without trying it. FOOD: I got the chicken plate with white meat. It comes with coleslaw and cornbread. It was very good, although I envied the choice of the brisket or pulled pork plate/platter. I overlooked these other options because sometimes the meat isn't that great, but here it looked incredible. AMBIANCE: it's a small, cozy, comfortable restaurant. Good for time with friends, a date, or a work meal. There was one table in the sun all evening and of course that was ours (so steer clear of that around sunset) but otherwise was great. PARKING: they have a small lot and there's street parking nearby SERVICE: a little slow but friendly and helpful.
The food was SO GOOD! I'm from Alabama and just moved here and been LOOKING for a place to get some soul food. Everything was 5 stars except maybe the collard greens. But everyone else on the table loved their chicken and waffles and sides. The Mac and cheese was perfect! The drink was refreshing and chicken was seasoned . Will definitely be coming back!
Brisket GAS. Such wonderful flavors. We tried a little of everything. The biscuits were moist. The chicken was slap yo momma tender. The drinks were unmatched. The service was amazing and the vibes were beaming.
My friends described our brunch with words like these: "some of the best fried chicken I've had in the cities," "I would make a meal of just those biscuits," and "my bbq pulled pork sandwich had bones or cartilage or something in it." Personally, I had the chicken and waffles, and fair enough, the chicken was on the bone. I didn't expect that but it was tasty (even at $21). We also had cocktails which were very yummy. The server was really cool and very kind with recommendations. We were shocked to find the place mostly empty on a Sunday morning- could have been the snow. I should warn you about the music, in case you're someone who cares, it was filled with profanity. Some folks might not want to hear songs about pu**y while eating breakfast. /shrug/ All this to say I'll def be back. The food and atmosphere were bomb.
Southern cooking is the reason to check out Revival. The weather didn't allow outdoor seating yet so we cozied up in the dining area. Liked the welcoming vibe. Good mixture of date night and groups of friends at the tables. Since this was my first time here, I had to choose the chicken dinner, southern fried, white meat. It came with slaw and a corn bread muffin. Loved the batter on the chicken. The chicken was so moist and juicy. Great meal. Husband had the pork shoulder sandwich. It was also excellent. Great flavor on the pork and he loved the KC sweet BBQ sauce. It did not come with sides so he ordered a shareable side of Mac n cheese. It had a nice crispy crust on top and lots of cheese and cork screw noodles. Since it was happy hour, we started with some $5 cheese curds. They had a sprinkle of honey on them. Had not had them served like that before and it was a fun option. I would love to give a 5 rating but I knocked down one because my wine pour was a bit ridiculous. I would be surprised if there was even 5oz of wine in the glass for a happy hour price of $11. I also had a blood orange margarita and that was not only beautiful but also very tasty. Parking was on street. There is a lot that currently fits 4 cars. Service was good. Note there is a service fee of 6% that is not part of tip.
Wow wow wow. As to be expected, Revival has done it yet again with their newest addition Revival Smoked Meats. A beautiful, open and bright space with a gorgeous outdoor patio. Lots of wood and plants make the space feel like home. The food is absolutely INCREDIBLE. We started with the Drop Biscuits. The order comes with 2 huge biscuits and come out warm and fresh with a flaky, buttery exteriors and soft, melt in your mouth interior. Soooo good. For my entree I went with the Chopped Brisket Sammie. This sandwich came stacked to the moon with a mountain of tender brisket. I absolutely cannot wait to get back and enjoy more of their smoked meats. Do not hesitate. You are not going to be disappointed. Well done, Revival!
Emma our server was fantastic! She answered all of my questions and gave me recommendations, which were spot on! The cheese curds with honey were to die for, but the best item that we had was by far the waffle... It was light fluffy, and the most delicious waffle I've ever had ! we will definitely be back.
I usually don't have high expectations for fried chicken but wow I was impressed. The chicken was juicy and crispy and the half chicken definitely gets you the best bang for your buck. I got the Nashville hot flavor; while it wasn't overtly spicy, it definitely had some kick to it. The pickles were a nice addition to the dish. The pickle is a sweet pickle with a slight tang and was very complimentary to the chicken. Everything is a la carte so you'll have to order sides but I highly recommend the Mac and cheese and the biscuits. The mac was a little too runny than I prefer but it was still very good. The biscuits were soft and flakey; the butter that came with the biscuits was a honey butter that was absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend Revival to anyone that's looking for a delicious chicken experience. Our waitress was also awesome when it came to recommending food and sides. I don't remember her name but she was an absolute delight.
The Mac and Cheese was a little too runny and thus lacking flavor. The burger was good but the bun was way too sweet. Even the Cajun fries had too much sweetness in it in my opinion because why should they have sweetness? At any rate I would give every item a 8.75/10
Visited Revival for National Fried Chicken day. The chicken came out quick. It was good, not heavy seasoned but good, wry moist and was brined. The collards were good also, a little vinegary but good. I would have liked a little more grits with my cheese, but they were good also. I wanted to complain about the seasoning, or the vinegar, or the grits, but I found myself eating everything and enjoying it. They cooked the food in their style and I liked it. I'll be back in the future and I'll probably order the same stuff.
Food was delicious if you are craving southern cooking. Everything was piping hot and fresh. The brussel sprouts are a must - they have so much depth of flavor - sweet, salty, crunchy, tart! Chicken was perfectly crispy and tender inside. The cheddar biscuits are also a must holy cow! Service was very attentive, kind and helpful. The place is small but doesn't feel crowded. Cute and funky decor.
Southern fried chicken -although the chicken came warm, it's still tasty and tender. Crunchy on the outside and lightly flavored. The half bird is enough to feed 2. Will try the Nashville hot if the mood strikes again. The front seemed vague on some things I asked. If the chicken were hot , man it would be soo good. There is a 20% service charge added to the bill.

My first stop on my recent trip to Minneapolis. Excellent choice, great service, cute minimalist decor, and great food. I really enjoyed my experience here. Tennessee hot chicken is HOT, nose runner but it's so good if you're up for the challenge. Mac and cheese good not great, I did enjoy it though. I had a great beer as well which was recommended by my server. Slightly pricey $9 for a 2pc but overall worth it and if you love pickles like me the sweet house pickles were great!! read more

As a Southern transplant, finding good 'ole Southern food in Minneapolis/St.Paul is like finding a paper plate in a snow storm, it isn't happening often, if at all. Once I stumbled upon this spot, I had to try it. My friend had flown in from Chicago to visit me, so we met at the restaurant for lunch. Clearly, this is a hot spot because our wait was 25 minutes and we were the next to be seated. We took our time with the menu figuring out where to begin over a Riesling. I love a good dessert wine any time of day. For lunch, we started with the Fried Green Tomatoes (FGT) and I was pleasantly surprised. FGT are easy to turn into mush but these were tender and crisp. The crust definitely had some character. For the main course, we split a half bird (Nashville hot) so we could both get what we liked. He likes the white meat and I like the dark meat (love me a good 'ole thick thigh). We also split an order of shrimp and grits (so good but why the mushrooms?), mac-n-cheese, white cheddar grits (best grits above the Mason Dixon line), and sorghum glazed carrots with pecans (wanted to bring home in bulk). It was a great amount of food for two people and it was phenomenal. Service: they definitely did their best to remain true to the notion of "Southern Hospitality" with a bit of a Midwestern Twist. The host was pleasant and made small talk during our wait and our server was incredibly kind and made spot on recommendations. Environment/Vibe: Revival on Nicolette is much smaller compared to their counterpart in St. Paul which gives it a more intimate feel. Tables were literally no more than a foot and a half away from one another tops. So, if you have no filter just be aware. The white table cloths give you a bit of a more upper class feel but the dress code is anywhere from casual to "dolled up" so you create the vibe. We went during the day so with the large windows, there was a lot of natural light coming through which it made it feel bright on that winter's day. There was definitely a Southern feel to it but modern Southern. Accessibility: I normally do not think about accessibility; however, after seeing a very tall and stocky individual trying to navigate between the tables, I would like to mention that this location is accessible but it's not always the easiest. My Final Take: This place is perfect for a business lunch or dinner, a romantic date, or just to catch up. It's a place where you can go casual or dress up. The vibe is perfect and the waitstaff are attentive. This is one of my favorite spots in Minneapolis (and St. Paul). read more

If there is any one flaw to traveling solo it is being forced to limit ordering to just "highlights," but benefited by a blog with over 400 unique visitors daily it was with good fortunate that a group of five was gathered on Saturday to experience Revival, every belly needed to work through ten plates of Food from the deep South. Opened in 2015 by Chef Thomas Boemer and since spawning a Saint Paul outpost plus a new spot for smoked Meats, accolades arriving fast from both local and national press, Revival is found at 4257 Nicollet Avenue and opening daily at 11am daily it still remains pertinent to arrive early on weekends, the space nearly full by noon and eventually growing a waitlist that is likely unpleasant during Winter thanks to the Restaurant's limited floor-space. Focused on Boemer's Southern childhood and authentic by way of the Chef's attention to detail, old family recipes scaled to Restaurant service by way of modern technique but never at the expense of process, it was immediately on arrival at 11:30pm that a "complete party" was confirmed before seats were offered, old floors creaking beneath feet white bright yellow wallpaper covered in flowers smiled less than twenty feet to either side. Casual in terms of service and attire, a come-as-you-are vibe bolstered by overhead music and paper menus, it was after some discussion of hunger and preferences that an order was composed, the opening duo of Pork Rinds dusted in spicy Cheese Powder an all-ages hit while fluffy Cornmeal Flapjacks were mostly savory but nicely balanced by a Pan Reduction of what seemed to be Molasses and Hot Sauce. Moving next to entrees and sides, the table nearly overwhelmed as three adults and two children had been deemed safe for two four-tops pushed together, it was with Hot Chicken spicy but a bit too greasy that attention turned instead to Boemer's traditional Southern recipe, a lengthy Buttermilk brine turning both Dark and White Meat tender while seasoned Breading cooked in Lard adheres tightly to the Flesh with hints of Paprika and Black Pepper. Not just a spot for fried Food, though Hush Puppies with tangy Aioli most certainly justify their $5 price tag, it was here that attention turned to baked Catfish carefully crusted in Herbs and served atop Beans and Rice, the house-pickled green ones adding vibrancy while additional sides including Cheddar Biscuits and crusty Macaroni and Cheese good but not especially memorable. Rounding out the afternoon with Dessert, one young lady's birthday prompting a candle and song, it is unfortunate that Revival's Banana Cream Pie recipe calls for 5x more topping than Fruit or Crust though the seasonal "Peach Snickerdoodle" topped in Mascarpone made up for it by being dense but delightful, at times like a Cobbler and in other bites more like Bread Pudding. read more

I'm so glad our friend recommended this place to us. We were greeted as soon as we walked in & they took our name & phone number for contact tracing which I think is very responsible of them. They had a pretty simple menu which made it easy to order. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, which was a first for us and it was yummy. Kinda reminded me of an eggplant Parmesan. We ordered the chicken & waffles which had three pieces of chicken and I will have to say it was better than Roscoe's! Also tried the Tennessee hot chicken served with pickles on toast. My hubby said it wasn't too spicy and had great flavor. He really liked it. We had Mac n cheese as a side and that was spot on. We were surprised with complimentary biscuits because they thought that we waited long but honestly we were busy chatting but we were glad they gave it to us. The biscuits came with honey butter and to make it even sweeter, I asked for extra maple syrup and dipped em. Our server was awesome & he even gave us another surprise of sending us home with a banana cream pie. Just an FYI apparently here in Minneapolis they have a 20% service fee which is supposed to include the gratuity. Our server was so great that we left him a little extra on top of that. Oh yum. I'm from the south originally so I know food fried chicken and fixins'. This place seriously had the best chicken and waffles. My partner had the fried chicken sandwich. Both were so amazing. Chicken was juicy and not at all dry. The grits, collards and fried green tomatoes were delicious. Some of the best collard greens I've ever had! The place is tiny and we didn't have to wait because we ate at 5p! read more
Finally got here last night with some friends for the first time. We had an hour wait at 6:30 on a Friday night- not bad at all! Once our table was ready we promptly had waters and were treated by our knowledgeable server. Having a server who really knows the menu makes a big difference at any dining establishment! He even gave us a run down on the different sauces on our table. We order a whole bird, the burger with hush puppies, Mac and cheese, grits, and slaw. The food was all delivered at once and it was amazing. The four of us polished the food and had loosened a notch in our belts. I have never had fried chicken (beyond KFC ) nor grits. I can't give an honest comparison. But, I can tell you I ate 3 pieces of chicken and all my grits! In short, the food was amazing and the server was great. I never asked for a refill on anything! We left full and happy. The one downside is that it is a small restaurant and pretty packed. But it looks like they are going to expand. Hooray! I have to update this review: This review is dropping two starts after my most recent encounter on Friday night. We went for dinner and the service was rather non existant. Our server was trying to get us out the door, didn't check on us, didn't know the menu, didn't offer dessert, and didn't say thank you. I thought maybe it was just an off night but then I spoke with two other people (separate) who shared a similar experience. One person even said "maybe that's what they're going for? Is being known to try to turn over tables and not be a full dining experience." Needless to say I won't be going back unless the person I am with is really wanting to go. read more

If you haven't been, you are missing out! This place is a must go-to and by must, I mean now! Their chicken is one of the best in MN! Great options like 2 pieces, half-bird, or a whole bird. And the prices are so low for how much food you get! They have southern fried, tennessee hot, and poultrygeist. I always get the tennessee hot because I love spicy food. Then we get so many sides. Just to list a few: mac and cheese, collard greens, white cheddar grits, mashed potatoes and gravy, cheddar drop biscuits, house pickles, and more! I can say I've had them all! I have talked to people who go there for their sandwiches and entrees, like chicken and waffles, the revival burger, or catfish. But my experience has been with their chicken only and I'm super happy about that! :3 In addition, they are very gluten-friendly! Lots of options :) Just a note - this location is super small. And by super small, I mean they seat only 40 people. So expect to wait. The St. Paul location is larger if that helps - the food there is spectacular as well. read more

I finally got a chance to stop into revival! So, coming from the south, I LOVE soul food and I LOVE spice. The atmosphere was nice, I liked the smallness of it, cozy. I also enjoyed the decor. The food however, I dunno. The best thing we had was the mashed potatoes! They were incredible. The Tennessee hot chicken was my least favorite, which made me really sad! I could see where they were going for the heat level, but the flavor just lacked. The chicken was bland I did enjoy the regular fried chicken and waffle sandwich. The waffle was very soft & the syrup was tasty. read more
This place makes you want to go to a tent revival and pray to the food gods! Let it be known that I grew up in the rural South and have lived in Memphis for about seven years now. I also have spent a good amount of time eating all over the southeast. Needless to say, I have had my fair share of outstanding and bad southern cooking. This was some of the best fried chicken I have had ever and it was "TN Hot". The spice was perfect, not overwhelming and the heat complimented the juicy chicken. The fried green tomatoes were flavorful and crispy, not soggy and sad like many places. The biscuits were amazing for soaking up the flavored butter. The only thing I didn't go crazy over were the greens. I felt they were a little one-note--mainly just sweet. They could have used a bit more vinegar or red pepper to give them a bit of a bite, but they were still delicious. I was told this is one of a few if not the only southern cooking joint in the Twin Cities. I will visit this place every time in in Minneapolis! If this place was in Memphis, it would be packed at all times. As a side note, this is a place for a great lunch or dinner, but it is a bit loud and close quartered, so it isn't that intimate or romantic to be honest, but do not let that keep you from taking the one you love; you will score major points on the food alone! read more

Let me start with that I really enjoy Revival and turn to them for my hot chicken sandwiches. With that, any place has its up and downs. I got two sandwiches (mine was great), one was woefully undercooked and after my girlfriend took two bites from it, realized it was uncooked/drastically undercooked. I only post because of the recourse. We returned to inform the establishment of the uncooked food, and what followed was a quick grab of the food we returned and quick hand back of our receipt. No explanation or apology of the dangerous situation of having been served potentially dangerous food. Better PR or Rep would go a long way when mistakes are made with food and peoples health. read more

Definitely worth stopping to eat here. My wife wanted to check it out after seeing the owner competing against Bobby Flay and reading about their fried chicken. The chicken was really good (the full-wing appetizers as well as the Chicken and Waffles). Even though the hush puppies appeared over-done, they tasted very good, as did the cheddar drop biscuits. However, the thing that stood out to me the most was the cheesy grits side dish - which were the best grits I've ever had. We topped it off with a piece of lemon cream pie. As much of a dessert-lover as I am, I was less than impressed with it. It had very little flavor and although I like desserts that aren't really sweet, I swear they somehow found a way to make this without any sugar in it at all. read more

THE BEST CHICKEN I'VE EVER EATEN. We got the cheese curds and a whole bird. Cheese curds: There was a perfect balance between the honey and Cajun. Tennessee hot chicken: perfect battered chicken pieces. It was very crispy yet juicy on the inside, even the breast pieces. Tennessee hot was not as spicy as I imagined, the chicken was seasoned well. Overall: the wait for the table was not bad on the Sunday I went and the food didn't too long to come neither. YOU GUYS!! THE CHEESE CURDS here changed my life, I'm not even over exaggerating. The breading is light and fluffy and the cheese is the right amount of firm and gooeyness, I don't even know wtf I'm saying but just ORDER THE DAMN THING. It comes with this aioli dip that I would baptize my first born in. Now to the main course, the &*(^*%&%$&%^FRIED CHICKEN *breathes heavily* the skin was the PERFECT amount of crispiness and airiness. The inside was tender and juicy, like juicy juicy...I don't know if it was from the happy tears trickling down my face, but I'm like 93% sure it's the chicken. Greens, phenomenal. Mac & Cheese, I would not share. Mashed Potatoes, heaven. If I could only eat at one place in Minneapolis, I would choose Revival every time. I hear the lines get crazy but rightfully so and definitely worth the wait. The service was tremendous, the interior is beyond cute, and prices were more than fair. read more
Finally!!! Fried Chicken!!! I have been searching for almost a year to find somewhere, anywhere that makes Fried Chicken and does it well. Revival... We had the Nashville Hot and the Mac and Cheese with a couple of biscuits. Fantastic. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the "hot" was just right. I will try the southern fried next time. Or maybe the huge burger I saw the guy next to me eating. But the chicken! By the way, the beer and cider were on point too! C'mon Minneapolis, where are the rest of the good fried chicken places???? read more

After the amount of times I've heard my cousins rave about this place, on god, I could swear Revival was a cult brainwashing others with their food. Unfortunately, I was absolutely right. The Tennessee Hot Chicken will scorch your tastebuds but you will not be able to stop stuffing your face with its greasy goodness. It's sweat so good, I thought I developed hyperhydrosis good. The poultrygeist is just another hellish creation that you should NEVER try unless your tastebuds are non-existent. The housemade pickles sprinkled over the chicken is my favorite part of the whole meal though, they are irresistible if you already love pickles. I recommend getting chicken & waffles if you cannot handle spicy well since the sweet syrup can help undercut on the Tennessee heat. The porkbelly is thiccccccccccccc--glistening and fatty such smoky, flavorful notes. I want the recipe...the hidden secrets. As for some of the sides, the fried green tomatoes could still be refined, the batter was pretty light, scratch that, it was too light to the point that the batter and the tomato couldn't stick together. They all fell apart. The mac n cheese was fantastic, soft and cheesy as we made it down to the toasted bottom, I wanted more. Also, i'm a fan of their cornbread, they mold them into muffins and serve them with butter--yum! The fried livers were also a surprise, I wasn't expecting to be fried the way they were--real generous with the batter. The Tennessee Hot Chicken and waffles along with the porkbelly are enough for me to be their devoted follower of Revival. Cult classic. I don't know what we are trying to revive, but i'll stay for the food. read more

Food was good. I've had better chicken sandwiches though. Not over the top amazing but not bad at all. If looking for a decent chicken/bbq spot, worth the trip. Service was still great with a chill vibe! read more

My girl friends and I came here for brunch the other day. We must be lucky because we came here on a Sunday with no wait time! We ordered the chicken and waffles (southern fried "the non-spicy version"): very good chicken and good waffles, probably the best in the cities like everyone says, but honestly, I have ordered too many chicken and waffles in my life, so I probably wouldn't be the best judge for whether this is the "best", but it's very decent! Also ordered Tennessee Hot half bird: very yummy and just moderately spicy, the chicken was fried and seasoned well (very juicy). Mac and cheese: it was very good Mac and cheese, we split it between the 3 of us and was surprised how good it was! I like that it's not very heavy so you don't feel terrible after eating it. The glazed carrots with pecans: hands down my favorite dish of the day. I normally don't like carrots very much, but I love this dish!! Will definitely come back again for this. read more
We went here for dinner on a Friday night and it was pretty busy. We waited for 15 minutes so it wasn't too bad. We ordered the chicken liver, southern style half bird with Mac and cheese and homemade pickles. We were so hungry that we ate like pigs and forgot to take pictures, lol. In term of food, the liver a bit over cooked but it was really good. They were deep fried so it was crunchy outside and soft gammy liver tasting inside and the serving was huge! The fried chicken was definitely really good. It was crunchy outside and juicy inside, all you can wish that KFC fried chicken would taste like. However, I thought it could be seasoned a bit better because the chicken itself was a bit plain. For sides, the mac and cheese was excellent!!! It was cheesy, creamy and warm. The pickles were good but I would prefer them to be a bit more sour and spicy; they were pretty sweet and didn't really cleanse your palates as you would expected. I don't even know where to begin. I have had soooooo many great things about Revival. It was basically everywhere, from my friends talking about it non-stop, to Facebook videos, and even seeing it on the tv. So, you know I had to give this place a try. Located in South Minneapolis on a corner, it can be hard to find. It is on a main road and offers street parking. This restaurant is small and cozy. You must get there to beat the rush or else you will be waiting awhile for a table. I did notice a lot of people ordered for pick up and through Bite Squad. Its nice to know that is an option as well. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a young man. He was all smiles and it felt welcoming. The MN nice feel, if you know what I mean. I had a party of 6, celebrating my brother's birthday. It was a 45-minute wait. We came on a Sunday around 4pm. This place was already full but totally worth the 45-minute wait. They offered us a menu to look at and said the bar is open for beer and wine if we wanted. Let's get to the good stuff, the FOOD!!! Here is a list of what was ordered and how I felt about it. FRIED CHICKEN LIVERWS, PEA TENDRILS, & TEXAS TOAST $9: I am not a liver fan at all, but hey why not try new things right? When the dish came out, it looked amazing! Anything deep fried will win me over. I am sorry to say, I didn't like it. I don't like liver. The flavor of the batter was delicious, but the liver itself was not for me. I thought it was dry and chalky. Overall flavor was good on the batter it was dipped in. DRY RUBBED WINTS $12: These wings were AMAZING! The dry rub was sooooooo good. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Nice and juicy. It came with a side of ranch. It got me excited for the meal I ordered. If the wings were this amazing I knew the Southern Fried Tennessee Hot was going to be out of this world. SOUTHERN FRIED TENNESSE HOT CHICKEN 2PC $9: Hands down one of the BEST fried chicken I have ever had. It is in competition with Roscoe's Chicken. The spice level on this chicken was just right. Tons of flavor, the batter on the chicken was nice and crispy. The chicken itself was super juicy. My mouth is watering as I am typing. It came with a thigh and a drum. I ate all of it down to the bone. Every bite I took left my mouth jumping with joy. I would recommend ordering the whole bird in the Tennessee hot just, so you can have left overs. Trust me, you will want more as soon as you get home. Onto the sides, they are single serve. I would recommend each person order their own. I ordered a few to try. MAC + CHEESE $6: I will have to say this was OK. It was very cheesy and creamy which I liked, but I have had better mac. Now if it were a baked Mac it would have made it to the top of the list for me. This mac was not salty at all which I liked. To me there nothing exciting about it. I will say besides the liver, this was the other entrée I had to box up to take home. WHITE CHEDDAR GRITS $6: There was nothing too exciting or special to the grits. I like how they added cheddar. I did find myself adding more salt to it. It was kind of bland for my palette. COLLARD GREENS $5: This was my FAVORITE side dish. It was cooked just right, and the flavor was on point. I like how there was a touch of sweetness to each bite. It went well with the fried chicken. CHEDDAR DROP BISCUITS $6: MOVE OVER Red Lobster biscuits! These are number 1 on my list of biscuits. It was buttery, soft, cheddary (I don't think that's a real word) and burst of flavor. It was super moist. I could seriously eat these biscuits as a snack and with every meal. Revival served me some of the best fried chicken I have ever tasted in my life. The service was great, the menu had lots of options, and they had a good variety of sauce and flavor options to choice from. When I first walked into Revival I was impressed by the atmosphere, but after sitting down I noticed that I could hear all the people around me because of how close the tables where to one another. They are known for the fried chicken and the fired chicken does not disappoint in the slightest so that's great. The appetizers and sides both tasted amazing. But the one thing at Revival I would not recommend is the dessert. The dessert tasted very bland and that is such a shame because southern cookings has some of the best dessert. I am going to be coming back to Revival often, and if you are a fan of southern cooking go and give Revival a shot. Finally, FINALLY got to try this "famous" fried chicken spot! I'd only had it on my to-eat list for, gosh, 6 months now? (Note: I moved to the Twin Cities 6 months ago.) My friends and I came here a quarter after 5 on a Saturday, thinking there'd be a 2 hour wait. I was surprised when they told us only 45 min to 1 hour - regardless, expect SOME wait, as the place isn't very spacious and it seems perpetually bustling. The good thing is that there's a bar right across the street where you can grab a drink while you wait in agony for that text. Once seated, we decided on a whole bird (among three people) - you can either choose southern fried or Texas hot (and we wimps decided to stay away from burning our mouths that day). We also got the mac and cheese and glazed carrots with pecans as sides. The food came out LIGHTNING FAST!!! No joke, it had to have been 7 minutes tops before they set out piping hot, fresh fried chicken and our side dishes in front of us! The breading on the chicken was excellent, and the mac and cheese was very creamy with a slightly baked top (could have used a crumble in my opinion, as I like more texture to my mac). The carrots were good, complemented very well by the pecans. It was the perfect amount of food for three people! While this admittedly isn't the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life, it was a great experience that I'd love to repeat! Oh, and their music selection is on point (think indie rock).
