I will definitely be updating this review soon as I wasn't here long enough to get the full experience, but as far as first impressions go, I wasn't very impressed. The two stars go to the overall layout and design of the bar. Very spacious and pleasant to the eye but the place seemed a little off for Sacramento. As it is a bar separate from hotel (meaning anyone can pretty much get in), there was a variety of people. Also note that me and my date were well aware of the strict dress code so we were not confronted about that and got in right away. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by two men who asked if me and my date were looking for the sawyer. One road up with us in the elevator and showed us to the entrance. My date and I walked right up to the door and were asked, "Are you VIP?". *Now let me just say that there was NO ONE in line.* We replied no we are not and were told to go to the other line for regular entry and this "line" was a bunch of zig-zaggy ropes that we had to walk through just to end up in the same exact spot as the "VIP" line. Needless to say, I was annoyed. Any other night this would have been appropriate but it was very unnecessary when I went as there was no wait at 11pm. Anyways, we walked in (no charge for us at this time) and the bar was nice. Definitely a place for the 30+ crowd (got the sugar daddy/baby feel from this place). I went on a Friday and the music was not befitting for the crowd (fast EDM/House music) and the crowd was way too chill for that. I didn't stay long or order anything but I used the restroom before I left and was very surprised that there was bathroom attendant. Very unusual (from my experience) for Sacramento and very unnecessary but I suppose for this crowd (or the crowd they're trying to attract) it would be? Overall, I was impressed by the layout but not so much by the bougie atmosphere but I would come back in order to give a more thorough review (drinks, food, etc...) read more

Things started off a little rocky here but they changed for the best. We came to the Revival since we were staying at the Hotel. It was a little busy in the beginning and I wasn't sure if I was ever going to eat. The food was well worth the wait. The staff was amazing. We stayed at the revival all night. Finally a rooftop lounge! Just what Sacramento needed. Summers here are long so why be stuck indoors! The view is pretty nice, it makes Sacramento a little more enjoyable and you kinda feel like you're in a bigger city. Happy hour menu is affordable and drinks are strong and tasty. They do have a small dinner menu as well but I think they're just ok. If you come during happy hour time the crowd is a bit older since most people are getting off work and stopping in for a drink. If you come a little later after 10pm that's when you'll get the younger crowd. Either way, great place to hang. read more

WOW wish I read the reviews before I came here! My boyfriend and I also felt discriminated against like other reviews have mentioned. We came without a reservation and we were seated right away. But no one ever came to us to take our order. We noticed that another group that was seated after us ended up being helped first. It's like we were being ignored! Met friends here for a midweek date. Very nice ambiance outside at the pool in a cabana watching the sun set beyond the tower bridge. Service was excellent. I felt as if I was a queen for that whole week! The employees feel like family and their extremely caring people. Duck. Bone. Taco. I could just stop there, that in of itself would warrant this well-deserved one-star review, but to stop there wouldn't give full breadth to the experience. The night started out great, the bartender was friendly and recommended a couple of drinks that we ordered along with some food. "Great choice", he said as we placed our orders and when asked about seating arrangements he replied, "Any table without a 'reserved' sign". Easy enough. We looked around and found a few tables that fit the description on a bench looking out towards the pool and blistering city skyline. What a view. Our waitress quickly came over and set us up with a couple glasses of water and table settings. The place started filling up with young couples and aspiring Instagram influencers as the sun was setting and families retreating to their rooms from a perfect day at the pool. Pretty people with a pretty view. "This place sure is nice", I thought to myself, potentially looking at this venue as a future lodging destination as this was my first time in the area. While soaking in the views and our cocktails, we were suddenly approached by a young woman in black who asked if we had a "reservation". When we replied "no", referencing what the bartender had previously told us and glancing at the obvious lack of sign on our table, we were met with commands to "move" in a tone that was a mix of "corporate polite" and "get the f*&% outta of these seats". A little chaffed, we gathered our drinks, utensils, and ourselves and compiled. It appeared the message didn't quite make it to our server who I had to flag down after she was struggling to locate us in our new seating arrangement. Then we got our food. We ordered the "Duck Carnitas" tacos and decided to share. Since these were twenty bucks I was expecting it to be more than two street tacos slapped onto a plate from the Z gallerie. I guess this is what I should expect from a solid 3-star yelp "restaurant". Also, for ten bucks a taco, they definitely weren't worth it despite what you'll soon find out. Super oily, literally oozing oil like the face of a 13-year-old fortnite-flossin' Cheetos addict with the consistency of blended baby food. These tacos were in desperate need of texture, literally anything, until we found it...in the form of a bone. Not a bone fragment or chip or even a wishbone, like something small that could easily fall through the cracks of stressed out, overworked line cooks trying to meet the demands of mounting tickets, that I could forgive, that I could understand, no, not that, a WHOLE ASS DUCK FEMUR IN A TINY ASS STREET TACO. HOW?????? THE LENGTH OF THE BONE WAS ALMOST THE DIAMETER OF THE TORTILLA. When we brought this to the attention of the server, she looked at it equally as stunned as we, that brown glistening bone on a plate covered in oil reflecting the light of golden hour as she said she "would notify the kitchen". Okay, good. I mean, how many broken processes does it take for that to happen at a restaurant that has the audacity to charge 20 dollars for two below average street tacos? SMH. Anyways, we got the bill from the bartender who was so welcoming, but apparently word never made it to him. The drinks were good, and we did eat the tacos despite the quality so I wasn't looking for a comp, but some acknowledgement would have sufficed. Nothing. So, we left, disappointed but at least with a good laugh, a story, and a vow to never return. Therefore, if you're looking for disjointed service with a kitchen to match and a killer view, this is the place for you. Just stick to the drinks. read more

(10/21/17) Very nice place and huge space. We came here to start off my bday celebration to check out the patio view, and it didn't disappoint. The patio had a nice big pool, cabanas, regular seating, and of course an area to overlook the Golden 1 Center. The bar/lounge area is really nice as well. The drinks here are made well but I did prefer my whiskey sour at B&B better than here. I did try their duck wings and they were delicious as well as their house made tater tots. Revival was overall very nice and a real swanky feel but don't let the dress code thing get you. They're not too picky with your clothing but they're kinda strict with shoes. Although a lot of places do that when they want a certain vibe or look. Anyways I'd come here again maybe even during a Kings game so I can people watch. read more

Had my girlfriends birthday at the VIP area of Sawyer last night, and it was one of the best service experiences of my life. The VIP host was responsive and quick leading up to the party. Everything was completely set up upon my arrival. The space is gorgeous and perfectly suited for groups. Our server Bridgett was attentive, professional, knowledgeable and fast. Especially considering she got swamped later in the evening and still made it by continuously. The live music when we arrived was fantastic. The super friendly server with the awesome leather jacket was great and mad e me feel like he was legitimately happy to help me move a couch closer. I can't say enough about the casual excellence of the service. The drinks were fantastic, I never thought I'd be singing the praises of a cocktail with fernet vodka and condensed milk. But it was amazing, they all were. The shareable food was all fantastic as well, mignonette for the oysters was flavorful but subtle, potato chips were great and the smoked chicken tacos were fantastic. I made a reservation over a month in advance for a friend's birthday, and I confirmed yes when I received the confirmation text the day before our reservation. When we arrived we were told there were no tables for us because a wedding had reserved half of the bar. This was SO disappointing. A courtesy call to let me know that they would not be able to accommodate us would have been appreciated. Revival requires a credit card to hold your reservation, so when I asked them if we cancel the reservation (as I'm standing in front of the host desk at our reservation time) would they still charge my card and they DIDN'T KNOW. They then proceeded to find us a table. The seating was fine but the bar was super backed up and it took a long time to get our drinks. The server was very nice and apologetic. She brought our friend a beautiful birthday dessert and eventually our drinks. The ambiance is cool inside. The pool deck had a million lounge style chairs to navigate through. And there were two fire pits, clearly reserved for the wedding party. We were disappointed by the evening and probably won't go back due to our initial greeting and disorganization at the host stand, which put a damper on our expectations of this "high-end" cocktail bar. read more

It was my first time at the Revival. It was my best friend's birthday and we decided to have her birthday at Revival instead of another place in town purely for the atmosphere, view, and ambience. We were not disappointed! It was an amazing wide open space complete with excellent service and a great time. I'll admit I wish the music was a bit better so I say that to say: base your deciding to go to Revival without the expectation of amazing music. If you're looking to dance and have awesome music, go elsewhere. But Revival is great for when you want to be able to mingle, have food and drink available, and be able to talk, with some tunes in the back (provided by DJ). We had a positive experience! We'll def be back esp with concert season ahead of us. The VIP reservation booth was pretty easy via the website and e-mail. We had a group of 10 and a minimum was $400 plus gratuity. Our group grew to about 15-20 and the minimum was a little difficult to meet but only because we were ordering cocktails instead of bottles. The food was amazing! read more

I had a good time there out with some friends. Service is pretty alright out at the patio... although we waited for a pretty good long time to get asked to order drinks at the bar when it wasn't even busy and there was like 5 worker.. I just thought that was pretty rude or do I have to wave someone down which one isnt?? it classy aND so Bartender shouldn't be snobby, there no fame. Its your job. Wanted to stay at this hotel over the weekend while attending a concert at Golden 1, but was super expensive so will have to try another time. We decided to hit the lounge before the concert however and it was fantastic! Large bar but most of the area seems reserved for bottle service, so we went outside. Found a spot next to a fire pit. Had great cocktails and bites and a lovely hour spent relaxing rather than waiting in a security line for the concert. Service was okay- it's busy and there's a lot of area to cover. Came here on a Saturday before the gatsby party around 5:30pm. The staff were nice as it appears if you just say you're going to the pool they will let you wear flip flops and shorts. But the bar you must have shoes and pants on? Either way we got in and checked out the new place. So it is definitely like a vegas style bar/pool. Everything is done really nice and aesthetically pleasing. There weren't many people in the place yet but the service was a little slow at the bar. I ordered some tater tots which were okay as the inside of the tater tots were like mashed potatoes. The triple chocolate tartar or whatever was good. Everything else was a little too high priced for me and didn't sound that amazing. From reading the other reviews I can see how the service could be really slow if there were a lot of people waiting at the bar. There is also a poolside bar but I'm not sure if that stays open later into the night or not. It was a busy night pre-game time - and the place was a buzz with all types - large and small - bourgeois and beautiful - sipping a cocktail or throwing back a shot to get ready! The monitors all were at the ready - In anticipation for tip-off! The venue was sleek and sophisticated with a pool and cabanas - adding a south beach kind of feel in the newly constructed Kimpton. The service was hectic yet - corrective and apologetic - when things took too long! As I sipped on my Bombay and Tonic - I found it interesting that most of the servers were under 5' 6" - but each had their own unique compacted beauty! Not one presented with a black heart! Like so many others, my review is regarding my experience with their management/staff. I would choose carefully when it comes to planning an important event here. I reached out in February to book my grad party there. Was told I would have a definitive answer March 1 by Christian. Never heard back so I sent an email. He didn't contact me until may 11, a week before my grad. I was put in contact with Juli the event coordinator who told me they were booked up for that day. I can't imagine they were completely booked back in Feb when I inquired. I heard other stories and reviews regarding problems trying to plan an event here but I chose to ignore them and give them a shot. Unfortunately I was left extremely disappointed. Amazon experience at revival on the terrace for igloo dining! To book an igloo you must have spent a min of $100. The money goes towards food and drinks. We booked our igloo 3 weeks in advance & were very excited to go since traveling is pretty much cancelled (COVID.) Dining in the glammed up igloo felt like we were somewhere else! It was stunning and magical. We chose to spend our $100 on food. Everything was delicious. I loved the oysters, tempura mushroom, and fried shrimp the most. My fiancé loved the lamb lollipops and duck! So there is definitely something for everyone. Each item is $5 a la carte. We received complimentary champagne upon arrival as well. Each igloo is decorated with its own touch. Ours was #3, it had pink and gray lounge furniture. There is no heater inside, but once you zip up the windows it is quite warm. We chose the 5pm slot to watch the sunset. Very happy with that. Inside each igloo there is a Bluetooth speaker to play whatever you want. We enjoyed our time and highly recommend! If I could give this place 0 stars I promise you I would. The club bartenders are the worst that I've ever encountered in my life. My friend and I have been waiting for a drink for over 20 minutes. Yes we have been standing at the front of the bar for over 20 minutes and no one has helped us. The bartender has yet to ask me for my order and we've been at the bar for a solid 20 minutes. I finally mustered up the courage to ask another bartender if I could order for him and he seemed irritated and said "I'll get to you when I can"!??? Which I completely understand. I was not asking him to drop what he was doing and take my drink order. I get it. You're busy but please don't leave someone hanging for over 20 minutes. Like okay great. Thank you for the horrible customer service. I would never recommend any of my friends to come here. In my personal opinion I would rather go to the Park and pay for the drinks there. You know why? Bc at least the bartenders will make sure you get your drink and they play good music. Rude employees and horrible customer service is what Revival should be known for. read more

This place doesn't feel like it's in Sacramento at all. It's a rooftop bar with a lovely pool surrounded with outdoor seating. It's cool vibe and I'm all about it. We went for happy hour which was much cheaper then regular pricing. We went for a mix of different eats and some drinks. We got the chicken wings, ricotta meatballs, chicharrones and chicken fried shrimp. I got a tequila mule to drink. Drinks were delicious. I loved the refreshing mule. I've never had a tequila one but I'm totally sold now. Food was more hit or miss. The chicken wings were awful. They tasted like they were drenched in mustard. The chicharrones tasted like the bag you get at the store for like two dollars. The ricotta meatballs were good, but not anything special. The fried shrimp was okay, but the breading fell off before we could even eat them. While the food was not great, the drinks and vibe make the place worth visiting again. Let me preface this review with i am three months pregnant and was sober for this entire outing. We go to revival for my birthday with a group of 8 other people this past Saturday. We get there around 5:30 and we chose a booth corner near where the restrooms are. My party ordered multiple rounds from the bar and closed out the tab. While sitting they order another round of drinks and pay the tab. My friend ordered one more drink and the tab was placed on the table. 10 minutes later the server (I forget her name. Started with a S I think), comes by and says "your friend keeps running from the tab" with a bunch of attitude. My friend is in a conversation with me with his back turned and doesn't hear the server. My husband then pays the bill to get her off our backs. I tell my friend what happens and he calls the server over to apologize and tell her he wasn't running from the bill, he didn't know it was there. Mind you, we've already paid atleast $400 in tabs. Why would he run from $20? The server then says "I never said that". I'm thinking she just thinks this whole table is drunk or something. So I told her she did say that, I heard the whole thing. She said "I'm sorry I guess" and I said "you should be, you don't talk to people like that". She then runs to security and we are kicked out. I can't believe that a seemingly nice place like this would A) talk to you like can't afford $20 and your "running from checks" B) kick you out for telling the server what she said was not appropriate. I was not rude. I was not drunk. If she can talk to my group so rudely, why can I not tell her we deserve an apology. Spoke to the owner, Rene and he said he would address the issue and follow up with a phone call on Monday. It's now Wednesday and no phone call so here I am. Men and women come here to flirt and stare at one another from far away and up close and spend money on raw fish and crisp pita and corn with nothing special about it but its cost. There is a pool in the center of the courtyard. It is full and clean and its temperature is the temperature it should be, but the water stays still and it will always be still. I drank whiskey and held a cigarette which I did not smoke and watched the men and women with their drinks and their gaze at the pool while they did not gaze at themselves. I watched as men at the door were turned away for their footwear - a shameful display of nobility. We had a room yesterday at the Kimpton in celebration of a bachelorette party; we were wanting to start our night at the Revival. The only person of dark complexion in either line for entrance was part of our party and while everyone else was given the go ahead by the doorman, she was singled out as being "too intoxicated" slurring her words & stumbling (which she wasn't), later the manager added that she was falling (which she also wasn't). Meanwhile, sloppy girls with lighter complexion were leaning on the doorman & stumbling and still being allowed entrance. Later, when returning to talk to Renee (the manager) we also noticed two African-American gentlemen being told they had to wait & waiving other people past them, while also questioning their wardrobe. Unfortunately, this set a really sour start for our night. Although other parts of our stay were wonderful, I will no longer be supporting this business and will be sure to spread the word. The gentrification of our city is clear & I will not be contributing any money to their blatant discriminatory practices. read more

Very unfortunate heard so many great things about this location and decided to visit as I was visiting from Scottsdale, AZ. Very unfortunate as downtown Sacramento is very dressy casual we where denied access due to my brother in law dress casual Tommy Hilfiger shoes. The young girl at the door insisted these where sneaker, as we tried to explain these are fashion sense shoes, although having a collar button down with pants. She continued to insist these where sneaker you wear every day. I found this situation not only unfortunate but put a damper on my last evening here visiting. 1) You have a young adult in her early 20's making decisions for grown adults after a nice dinner and drinks at the Echo & Rig. 2) There was not one person in line, this young lady should have asked for a second opinion from management if she was uncertain. 3) My brother in law explained to this young lady he just visited this location with these same shoes 2weeks prior. As the gal stated they enforced this 1 month prior. As it is nice to see downtown Sacramento trying to revitalize the area, it is unfortunate to see these places turning away professional who contribute to this growth.
