The lady that runs the page is always posting about this place so my boyfriend and I went to get breakfast one morning. The place is kinda small and where it's at is kinda hidden and random so we missed it the first time. We had to drive back cause we passed it. The place itself is not too small but not too big. I got the chillaquiles plate and my boyfriend got the omelette. I liked my chillaquiles but they weren't anything special. They were average. My boyfriend didn't like his omelette. The food looks much better than it tastes!!! The prices are so cheap!!!!!! I give them that. And the service is good as well. I think you really get what you pay for. Will I come back again? Went there for an impromptu lunch the other day, Thursday to be exact. I had bookmarked this little place a while back and wanted to try it. I noticed the reviews were wonderful and it was fairly close to my son's house in Whittier. So we suggested it to our son and turns out, HE had also bookmarked it. So it was FATE. First of all, the place is sparkling clean and has lots of seating. The owner/waitstaff were attentive and friendly and very helpful in getting us the meals we wanted. In fact, she even brought out a small serving of the chile verde when I asked if it was "very spicy." (It wasn't.) The flavor in everything we tried was delicious, you could taste all the spices but nothing overpowered the dishes. My son tried the enchilada plate and when he RAVED about the taste of the rice, we had to try it. The rice (homemade of course!) tasted just like what my mother in law used to make. Hubby ordered a side because it was so darn good! To round out our lunches, I tried the chile verde burrito (wet) and hubs tried the carnitas burrito (wet as well.) Everything tastes homemade; and IS homemade. The flavors are wonderful and deep and rich, truly authentic style without being overpowering or too hot as some restaurants do. The salsa and chips that came out before our meal were delicious as well; before I forget. The chips are made fresh to order (we had to wait for a second basket because they were being made) and believe me when I say you will want to devour these wonderful chips. They are light, crispy, slightly salty...and will disappear from your basket so quick you won't believe it! We really wanted to try Rey's Little Kitchen out for breakfast but haven't yet been back. My son and daughter in law were supposed to go today so I will see what they wrote. Bonus: This place is right next door to the giant Antique mall, go there after you eat for a walkabout, there are tons of cool things to see in there. Went here after going to the antique spot next door and it was about lunch time. My friend ordered chilaquiles and I got floutas. My friend loved her meal and I tried it and it was also good. I liked my floutas but I thought I ordered chicken and I swear it tasted like it was pork. Nonetheless it was still really good. The only reason I gave this 3 stars instead of 4 stars is the service. It was kinda slow and we waited about 30-40 min for our food and we were getting full of chips and salsa. If they worked on quicker service I would definitely give it another star because the food was delicious. read more

A gold mine found in Whittier!!! Rey's was recommended, so my husband and I visited for breakfast. He had Pork Chops and Eggs, I had scrambled Eggs with Red Sauce, Onions and Tomatoes. Both were served with Beans. We also shared a side of Pancakes! The BEST pancake I've ever had! Our server, Rey's brother, said it was a secret recipe. Fine with me as long as they don't change it! Pork Chops were done to perfection. Delicious coffee flowing. Not one thing we can find fault. Parking was not bad, we were there early, but can see it being a problem later in the day. I've been to this place 3 times, it is really good. The atmosphere is chill. They always have the AC on so its nice and cool, it's also very clean and tidy with lots of space. The food is delicious, always hot and fresh! I love that they use real (fresh) potatoes for the hash browns. I could definitely tell... The only gripe I have is that they might be understaffed. It's a nice little place looks bigger from the outside but the staff was nice and homey if you drive to fast you might miss the place but once your there u can't help but look around at all the wall decorations and all the ppl talking to the staff and feeling like your around family and friends I can't say I loved the food just it was like coming to a family friend to cook for you I wouldn't come back to often for the food but the ppl and the place I would it's also a nice story to hear if a hard working mother come and work her way up and end up owning a little place of her own I give that a few returns and get to know the menu just for that reason alone read more

Stopped by to have breakfast. Was out first time here, servers were nice, but they forgot our coffee and refill of waters. Food was decent.

Again great food but too small the portions. Also, the cleaning of the tables doesn't look very clean. I watched them carefully, and they use the same towels over and over. I can only imagine the amount of disgusting germs that are on that towel. As a nurse I just kept thinking of the risk of infection to many folks who come in with compromised immune systems. They need a better strategy for cleaning. I sure do hope those aren't the practices when washing dishes we are served on or utensils for cooking. read more

Another report from the breakfast crew. We decided to take a look at this Mexican restaurant because they serve breakfast, our favorite meal of the day. My wife had the chilaquiles stirred with chorizo-eggs and beans and potatoes. I had the huevos rancheros with carne asada and beans with potatoes. To say we thought that we were being served from little Rey's house is an understatement. The service was very courteous, warm, and friendly. The place is a large open area with multiple rooms to dine in. The food was spectacular. Easily best Mexican breakfast we had ever tasted. All the items were homemade from scratch and you can taste it. Really reminded me of the kind of favors my friends mom who cook for when I was in high school. I am so impressed with this little restaurant! The moment my family and I walked in, they treated us as if we'd been going there for years! I was watching the staff in the back area zooming back and forth without skipping a beat. The service was amazingly fast, very attentive, and super friendly.  What won me over was the food. I ordered the nopales breakfast burrito and LOVED it.
