The end result is a flavorful pile of goodness that's not sickening in texture. Portabellos retain a lot of water and with its size, this end result could be hard to achieve...until now. Who would have thought to cut it down so that it doesn't even look like a 'shroom anymore, duh! The sun dried tomatoes and feta cheese complimented the sandwich very well. A sweet little place that's great for brunch in downtown Fullerton. We came here for my birthday brunch and ordered something from each of the categories - stuffed French toast, a vegetable omelette, , Lorraine ham and swiss omelette, pancakes, breakfast panini, and eggs benedict. Each were satisfying in their own way... but at their prices just "satisfying" wasn't quite enough. They have these adorable mirrors and lamps against the wall and a screen that plays black and white films behind the bar. The waiter here with the handlebar mustache was super friendly, and nice which made the experience more enjoyable. My girlfriend and I ordered the smoked salmon crostini, the traditional eggs Benedict, and their infamous french toast made from a baguette. Smoked Salmon Crostini - Rating 3.5/5 - The smoked salmon crostini was average in my opinion. The put capers, cream cheese, smoked salmon, a tomato, and a nice crunchy bread. The salmon was good, had an overpowering fishy taste in my opinion but was balanced out with the tomato and cream cheese. However they put way too many capers on each piece, the 4-5 capers overpower everything else and give it that strong caper taste. Eggs Benedict - Rating 4.5/5 - The eggs benedict came with poached eggs, ham, and a hollandaise sauce on a toasted baguette slice. This is the first time i've tried an eggs benedict on a baguette instead of an english muffin. I was skeptical at first, but to my surprise, it worked well. The hollandaise sauce here is really yummy, and so is their ham! The eggs were poached perfectly and the yolk just came oozing out when you broke the egg. I was really pleased with the eggs benedict here, i would definitely recommend this if you like eggs benedict. French Toast - Rating 3/5 - I ordered the french toast because everyone was posting pictures of it on their yelp, so i figured it must be good. The french toast is served on a french baguette with mascarpone cheese and topped with berry, creme anglaise, and whipped cream. I personally didn't like the baguette being used as the bread, it was too hard/crispy and wasn't that soft and fluffy french toast bread that i am used to. The french toast is really sweet, despite them giving you no syrup. The fruit/whip cream/and creme anglaise make it surprisingly sweet, so just be prepared. What i didn't like was that the bread under the first slice had pretty much nothing on it, so i was pretty much just eating a baguette with some butter on it. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is a fan of traditional french toast, as you might leave disappointed like i was. All in all this a nice small breakfast joint in Downtown Fullerton. Their prices range from $8-12 depending on what breakfast dish you want. If you end up choosing this place, I would recommend getting their eggs Benedict, and skip out on their french toast. Came for Sunday lunch at exactly 12. Was told the wait would be 15-20 minutes but it was really 30 minutes. Opted for sitting at the bar since it was just Porky & I. They used 4 pieces of thin chicken instead of one thick juicy piece and was slobbered in BBQ sauce.. so the sandwich fell apart and was VERY messy to eat. 5 napkins for him messy. Got the Eggs Benedict with Hash Browns. The Hash Browns here are gluten-free. The Eggs Benedict normally come with bread but the server asked the kitchen to make mine on spinach and tomato instead. The food here is 4 stars, but that 5th star is for the service from two people: 1) our server who went out of his way to find out the quiche of he day, accommodate my gluten-free dietary needs, and was super cheery 2) the hostess who was also super cheery and stood in the street to get nice store-front photos of us sitting at a table on the sidewalk. If you want a hipster place to eat, come here! True to all other reviews this place is tiny and there's definitely a wait! It has indoor and outdoor seating, which is great for sunny CA days, my friends an I ate outside so I wouldn't be able to describe the decor but I'm sure it was like outside, simple and cute. They had about 4-5 tables out on the sidewalk with a host manning the front. We waited about 30 minutes on a Sunday and as more people showed up we heard the wait was nearing 60n mins, honestly I wouldn't wait longer than 30 mins for this place. The menu had some different items such as crepes or a salmon scramble but for the most part, basic breakfast food. Amongst our party we had the Wilshire (a loaded omelet with cheese, meat and vegetables) the veggie omelet (just like its name all veggies and no cheese), the huevos rancheros and the eggs Benedict. Out of all 4 the best item was the eggs Benedict, only because the egg was perfectly poached and they were on top of a grilled baguette instead of the usual English muffin. Service was meh, when we first got there our waiter was attentive but then after our order he never checked on us, our coffees got low and so did our waters. I caught him a few times indoors wandering around aimlessly and if he came outside he kind of ignored our table. I love little cafes in general. Friends and I went here on a playdate, very random and just wanted to try it. I had the half&half combo: portobello sandwich and mixed greens - a light meal. They used burger buns for the bread, whole wheat with sesame seeds - it was good, but very bready considering it was a sandwich? The mixed greens were good, the typical salad that's why. Check came out to be $9 something. It's fairly okay in price range. We were seated outside near the curb; it was accompanied by a nice fall weather, breezy. I have so much love for this place!! My boyfriend and I goes to Tranquil Tea Lounge a lot (next door) and one day decided to just try this place. We came in for breakfast He ordered a panini I ordered their Eggs Benedict. I think the most memorable thing about that day was their potatoes. TIP: get potatoes instead of the hashbrown their breakfast potatoes are amazing!!!! The second time we went I ordered the All Veggies Omelette and my boyfriend got the Ham n Swiss and of course the potatoes. This was the day i realized how amazing their coffee was!! As we progress through our roaring twenties and skim through our busy schedules, my girlfriends and I have slowly began to exchange cocktails and happy hour for coffee and brunch as our cement for girl time. I had ordered the Quiche of the Day while my friends ordered the Breakfast Crostini and the Smoked Salmon scramble. Our plates came out after an average wait, arranged in a fashionable plating. My quiche was delicious! An array of spinach, ham, red bell peppers, and cheeses melted to a perfect texture - fluffy on the inside with a light golden crisp crust on the outside. What gave the quiche the extra kick was the spicy tangy sauce that was drizzled on the plate. It was an excellent compliment to the quiche! Even though we each thoroughly enjoyed our dishes, we couldn't help but eye a nearby patron's stuffed French toast. The colorful seasoned fruits that sat upon the golden powdered French toast was just captivating to the eye. I'm hoping to try that out the next time we meet again for brunch! This is a small joint , but they have out door setting. So its nice place to have breakfast / lunch outside. My boyfriend got the egg Benedict and I got the berries french toast . I really like the presentation of the food. It look like high end restaurant presentation. My boyfriend didn't like the egg Benedict much. They use baguette as the bread. He didn't like how hard the baguette was. It made it difficult to eat the baguette with the egg. The sauce tasted very light and too healthy for him. Usually he would get full from egg Benedict, but he still left very hungry. It also came with a side. The hash brown was good. For myself. The toast was actually good. Amazing. The food, the service, my time there. I loved it all. I went to Rialto Cafe at about 11am for a nice little brunch with my boyfriend. It was fairly crowded, all the tables inside were taken, and there was only one free table (out of three) outside. Our entire time there, there was only one or two tables free at any given moment. And I can see why!! I got orange juice (~$3), which was honestly the worst part of the entire meal (and it wasn't even bad). It just didn't taste all that fresh, and strangely reminded me of Tang... but whatever. We ordered the Egg in the Nest ($9.95) and the Smoked Salmon Scramble ($10.95). Both were great, but oh my god the Smoked Salmon was soooo good. The salmon with the flavorful goat cheese, holy moly. The goat cheese was so creamy and delicious, and the dill just totally made the dish; making the lovely salmon flavor pop. The Egg in the Nest was good as well. Not quite as good as the Salmon, but good enough, zero complaints, only compliments. The salmon came with a piece of toast + butter/jam, and both orders comes with an order of potatoes or hash browns. We got one of each, and I was surprised to prefer the hash browns to the potatoes. The hash browns were normal hash browns, nothing particularly special about them. But I wasn't a huge fan of the potatoes. They were more like soggy, spicy french fries. Just meh. I don't think I've ever been treated so rudely by a server in my life. 4 of us, all women in our 30s, gathered for breakfast on 5/11. We started as a 2- top table and when the other 2 arrived, we politely asked the people sitting next to us if we could slide the 2 top near them closer to us. They happily agreed. Our server came over and said that they typically don't allow tables to be moved, and we said OH, we didn't realize that....Given that everyone was happily seated, she allowed it given that the other customers had agreed and the table wasn't being used (the restaurant was not at capacity). THEN some other very rude, grouchy woman (manager??) came over to again inform us, in a severe "disciplinary" tone as if she were a mother speaking to a misbehaving child, that it was absolutely against their rules to move a table, and that in addition, they "didn't allow" my friend's young 3 year old daughter to sit on her lap. Excuse me?! What restaurant would EVER prohibit a child from sitting on her mother's lap? And say it so rudely as if we were terrible, rude hooligan customers....we are all conscientious, polite adult women who were not taking up our share of restaurant space in any form whatsoever. This woman was so rude that it has turned me off from returning to Rialto again....ever. My family lives in Fullerton and we like contributing to the DTF businesses but I will never return unless management issues an apology for her behavior. Cute, little brunch place in downtown Fullerton. I've been here a couple of times with colleagues and never had a bad experience. The food is tasty and the service is great. The only downside is that it's pretty small so expect a wait even in the middle of the week. Typically no more than 15-20 minutes though. Things I've tried include their famous french toast ($11), the chilaquiles ($12), and the huevos rancheros ($10.95). I definitely recommend the french toast for those looking for something sweet, but I feel like it's almost like a dessert versus an actual meal lol. Between the chilaquiles and the huevos rancheros, definitely go for the chilaquiles. While the huevos rancheros was good, it's honestly just salsa, black beans, 3 corn tortillas, and 2 fried eggs. Nothing to really write home about. Both dishes come with your choice of breakfast potatoes or hashbrowns. Street parking only, but I've never had a problem finding any. The Rialto Cafe is good place to enjoy a fresh breakfast and I was happy I finally got a chance to try this LITTLE place. As others have mentioned, if you are coming on a Sat or especially a Sunday, get here early and hopefully beat the rush. You who doesn't rush though, the servers. It took us about 25mins to get a table and were there only about 20mins after opening. They set up a stand (that nobody maned for half an hour, to take down names later.) The food had some great highs and lows. A big positive for all of us dinning were the breakfast potatoes. They were well seasoned and had a nice subtle kick to them. They are french fry cut, seems like all their potatoes come out that way. I had the breakfast burrito as I was hungry and it was a solid filling choice. The black beens were a nice touch and I enjoyed it. Now the side of bacon I got was awesome, perfection. My wife had the eggs, which had a good color, but were very tasteless and her plate was overly simple and didn't have much in the way of presentation. She had substituted her bread for a side of potato salad. (more french fry cut styling here) These by far were the weakest item we had. Almost no flavor except for what I believer was perhaps sage...it was so overpowering and you did not taste much of anything else. I really enjoyed the food and would venture back, but the service was poor. It was small and not too many people were working, but it Sunday brunch you should be staffed. This cafe is in downtown Fullerton not far from the university. We were sat right a way. I ordered the Wilshire omelet and Mark ordered the over easy eggs and bacon. My omelet with hashbrowns was good. Mark said they did his over easy eggs perfectly. The service was exceptional and they were very nice. I gave it a three because its a very tiny place and you most definitely will be hearing a loud conversation from the parties next to you and so it is rather hard to have a conversation yourself with your party. All in all..good food and service are a four but the entire package a three. If you like tiny, this is the place to go. For me? Well..cozy is great but tiny just isn't for me. read more

Rialto Cafe - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Fullerton, California

I had high expectations of Rialto after reading the reviews, checking the menu, and viewing the pictures. Unfortunately, my experience went from one disappointment after another. First off, the cafe is really small and seating is tight. Second, service was terrible. I had to flag the server twice to get him to come to our table and take our order. Then when I got my food, it was missing the side. Third, the food was like something you can get from a deli. Very ordinary. Fourth, the prices are high enough to piss me off.
