Dipped in on a random Tuesday while in the area. Greeted & seated immediately, beverages offered (they had a special drink offer as well - summer spritzer). Piping hot bread & butter dropped off & they didn't skimp on the offering! We gobbled that up & wow, tasty. I love a good seafood combo with white sauce & these folks didn't disappoint! Soft & tender pieces of calamari, flavorful chunks of fish, clams, shrimp, scallops. The sauce was on point, linguine perfect. My family had ravioli and spaghetti with homemade meatballs - they whacked their plates clean. Cannoli for dessert with a tiramisu to go. Delish! Can I just say tho... yes a step up on food but even more, the awesome service. Great looking staff, all smiling (part of what makes them good looking is the smiles!!), pleasant, friendly & upbeat. And once, we saw my hubby's cousin having dinner with friends there. Little did we know that it was a popular place for those living westside. Ricado's has been opened since 1993, serving delicious pastas and Italian cuisine. It offers: * Appetizer. Calamari, cheeses, shrimp piccata, salami, veggies, garlic bread. * Salad. House, Italian, Caesar, chicken, antipasto. * Soup. Minestrone. * Pasta. Bolognese, linguine, penne, carbonara, ravioli, tortellini, lasagna, fettuccine, chicken, eggplant. * Poultry. Chicken piccata, parmagiana, marsala, saltimbocca. * Veal. Marsala, piccata, saltimbocca, New York steak.= * Seafood. Shrimp, calamari, fish. * Dessert. Gelato, sorbet, cheesecake, tiramisu, mud pie. As we live in East Honolulu, let's see what we've been missing out. On a recent dinner visit, we ordered the following: * Shrimp Sorrentino. House specialty of mushrooms, eggplant, mozzarella cheese, marsala-wine butter sauce served over linguine. A very filling meal with a delicious generous portion of breaded eggplant and large shrimps over cheesy linguine and toppings! A new favorite for me! * Lasagna. Meat with ricotta cheese, Mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce. Creamy and cheesy lasagna that meits in your mouth in delicious generous portions! Hubby's choice, and he loved it! Complimentary hot baked bread with generous slices of butter was served. The bread was crispy on the outside and fluffy soft on the inside. A serving dish of fresh Parmesean cheese was provided to allow use of the Parmesean cheese as toppings and as much as we wanted! Staff was friendly and attentive, refilling water glasses, taking timely orders, assuring that requests are taken care of, and that boxes are provided for leftovers. They all had smiles and were willing to please. They allowed you to take your time in ordering. And once you're done, they will thank you for coming as they appreciate your patronage. Hours of operation are Tues to Thurs 5:00p to 8:00p, Fri to Sun 4:30p to 9:00p, Mon closed. Long gone are those lunches, as only dinner is served. We elected to have an early dinner on a Sunday instead of fighting traffic on a weekday. No reservations were necessary for an early Sunday dinner, as we noticed large family dinners had special occasion celebrations, and that we were early enough before the dining rooms got crowded. The dining rooms appear outdated, but the lights are dimmed to create a date-night ambiance. With delicious pasta, large portions, good value, a pleasant ambiance, and excellent customer service, the dining experience is one to remember! Been a patron of this place for many years. Food is mostly always on point. My go to fave is to start with a Caesar salad followed by chicken saltimbocca with linguine. Portion size is smaller than similar types of Italian restaurants on the island, but Ricardo's flavor is better. Service is always excellent even on busy days. Remind me again why whenever I want Italian, I go to Olive Garden when there are perfectly great gems like this place that are much closer and much better than a chain restaurant?I've been here twice: once for dinner service and the second for a private graduation party. Both times the food has delivered! I love the size and decor of this restaurant. The lowlight and smaller space allows for a more intimate setting. Again, much better than a brightly lit chain restaurant. The overall location is pretty convenient too. Great parking, even when busy which is saying a lot because 85% of the stores here at restaurants which means parking can get filled during peak dinner times. I also appreciate the portion sizes. When I was here for a graduation party, the options were limited which made sense, and you would also thing since they're cooking for a big party the portions would be okay. Boy was I surprised when a log of lasagna showed up on my plate. Another option offered for the private party was shrimp scampi and to see the amount of pasta on my husband's plate was astounding! In total, there were four dishes available to choose from for the party, and all of them were a generous size. I'm pretty sure everyone had to take leftovers home. Also, service was spot-on! I used to work in restaurants and parties are either your absolute favorite or anxiety inducing. The servers did great and have no doubt even in regular service they can go a great job. read more

I took my wife out to dinner celebrate her birthday. She picked Ricado's. We haven't been here in a while. The restaurant was lit a little brighter than I remembered. This is a plus, you can actually see what you are eating. For starters we shared the antipasto salad for two. She had the Chicken Picatta and I ordered the Veal Saltimbocca. we both enjoyed our dinner. Although there was a few minor things which took away a higher food rating. The service was excellent. We came to celebrate a birthday! When you enter, they have some tables for dining and also have another room to the right with more tables. The lighting was a little dim and more of an older Italian restaurant feeling. Our party was seated near the entrance. Our server was awesome and came around to assure we had all that we needed and filled our drinks quite often. We ordered: 1. Scallop & Shrimp Pomodoro 2. Polo Ala Spinach 3. Chicken Saltimboca 4. New York Steak 5. Caesar Salad Everyone was happy with their meals. The flavors were delicious and with the addition of some parmesan cheese, our entrees were even better. My steak was cooked perfectly as requested and the steak sauce was delicious. We were able to make a reservation as we had a party of 6. Smaller parties as we were told would need to walk in. I don't come here very often because I like to always explore new restaurants, but this is a nice restaraunt I like to revisit with my partner for the occasional weeknight dinner. Today, all the other Italian places in the Pearlridge area I wanted to try were closed early for no reason, so we decided to come here. When I come here, the decorations remind me of visiting my grandma's home. The atmosphere is quaint and comforting to a local rando like me. A little on the smaller side so it's not as busy and loud as other places if that's what you like. The service and staff is great. Our waiter and host were very attentive and service oriented. I enjoy the complimentary bread and butter here a lot. This place has one of my favorite breads. It's not like the bitter or hard breads, it's soft, savory, and warm fresh out of the oven (perfect for spreading the butter on in my opinion). They give a lot of butter too. The bread is also a good size and they give you more as soon as they run out, and foil to take it home in if you can finish it. My usual is the tortellini dish, with an add on of chicken. Today I was given the option of the breaded chicken. I liked the breaded chicken a lot. The dish comes out very fresh and hot. I'm gonna say that the sauces here are a little more runny than thick for those who like that, but the taste is very good. This place is comfort food to me. My parents wanted to eat Italian, and since there's not that many restaurants on the KBay side, I searched here for some other choices. I was going to go to this other one, but I read Sach T's review and she said she had a favorite in the Pearl Kai center, so that's how I found Ricado's. We got there right when they opened. The host was not friendly or inviting. I'm not sure if he was the manager or the owner, but first impressions make a difference. However, I was really glad that Brandon was our server. He brought the warm hospitality that most restaurants should have. He also had a new server helping him, who was also very nice. I started with the Italian salad which was great! For dinner, I had the pollo alpesto. I'm not a fan of cream sauces but this one was delicious! My parents shared the linguine with clams in a white sauce with added mushroom (extra$), and so glad they did! The portions are pretty big. They also serve warm crusty bread with room temp butter, ready to spread! I also had a glass of chianti which was good. If it wasn't for the wonderful service, I would've given four stars, maybe less, but I would definitely bring my parents back here again! read more

Don't get the ceasar salad as the appetizer unless you really like fish paste. It's officially Gemini Season... The best part of it all...dinner with besties! Thank you to Nadine as a simple dinner is never quite that simple as it seems but I know her well enough lol! Every year as we say you get wiser...one thing I know is what makes me happy is that food does tastes better with friends and along with Cece and fellow Gemini Donna it was a lovely night of Italian food at Ricado's in Aiea. Conveniently located in Pearl Kai Shopping Center which does share ample free parking with other biz, Ricado's simple storefront almost had me drive right by them. Walking in the decor is quite basic and a bit dated but is nice and clean, I love the back part of the restaurant which is where Donna grabbed our seats for the evening as it has a long divider from the front part of the restaurant giving it a slight more private vibe. Menu is quite massive though very easy to understand as it lists in detail of what it consists of including the choice of sauces you're able to choose from does make it quite overwhelming decision. As Nadine and Cece went with the server recommendation I decided on Linguine Primavera which I love as it comes with veggies (broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms and spinach) with a choice of butter white wine or tomato sauce. You know it's a party cause Mr. Grumpy Bear is here as well and oh my sweet happy heart as moments like this is what truly makes me smile but having a huge plate of pasta does made it very comforting...yum! Loaded with fresh veggies cooked just to the right bite and yummy hearty sauce along with their complimentary bread what a wonderful dinner! Not leaving much room for dessert here comes the cake...cheesecake! As this smooth and rich sweetness literally blew us away as we made our wish and I hope it does come true though these moments are precious to me and am so thankful for the thoughtfulness that I truly appreciate. Dinner in Aiea, O'ahu, Hawaii... Finding a restaurant that none of us visited before is a challenging feat. Fortunately, the Yelp app is a great tool. I saw my friends' reviews and found Ricado's Italian Restaurant at Pearl Kai... it was fantastic! Parking in the shared, free parking lot was a bit tight, but much appreciated. The interior of the restaurant was dim, nicely air-conditioned, and had a calm atmosphere. It had a slightly old-school feel. We found out that it has been around for over 14 years! Colette was our friendly, energetic, and fun server! She checked up on us often, refilled our glasses of water frequently, and brought takeout boxes before we had to ask! Colette made a great suggestion: Shrimp Sorrentino... a house specialty. It had mushrooms, eggplant, mozzarella cheese, and a marsala-wine butter sauce. Instead of pasta, we could have Sautéed veggies or both. I chose both! It was perfect! I actually had to take home most of my meal because I ate too much of the complimentary bread and butter... it was so yummy! Warm, soft bread with a crisp crust... mmm! For dessert, the two birthday girls received hefty slices of cheesecake! That's so thoughtful and generous! We all had a wonderful meal together! P.S. I guess I shouldn't expect great quality Italian food in Hawaii, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Not my best decision. The server was really nice and the place was empty and we got in and out pretty fast. The crispy bread and butter was good. The salad was just lettuce a couple tomatoes and some dressing. It would've been so easy to add croutons or maybe some carrots, onions, anything to make a salad out of the lettuce that we got on a plate. Shared the chicken piccata with my sister. The pasta was not cooked. I'm an Italian foodie and good cook. It makes my standards high. Lol. I understand al dente but this pasta was not cooked enough. It was almost hard. The sauce looked thin. It was more buttery than wine and lemony. I asked for extra lemon just to give the dish the "tang" that it was lacking. It was also expensive. It was around $20 but Ala cart. There was no side salad or soup with it. That was extra. Good news is you can't go wrong with dessert. The Kona coffee gelato that I split was really good. Also got two cannoli to go. They were teeny tiny but they were only eight bucks and tasty. Sadly, If you are looking for a great Italian restaurant this isn't it. Keep looking. read more

Been coming to this restaurant as a kid and they are still one of my favorite Italian restaurants. And it's super close by so convenience is 10/10. We went this past Valentine's Day as a family and we all enjoyed the food so much. I wanted to try something new but as always I got the chicken Marsala. It's so good. I could eat it every day! My husband had the seafood medley and my daughter had the kids spaghetti and meatball. Seriously you can't go wrong with this place. Everyone is always so friendly when we walk in. There was a little bit of a wait but it what Valentine's Day so that was expected. We barely waited 10 minutes though so still quick. This is a local favorite because everytime I go I always see families or couples on a date. It's not super fancy but sometimes we do dress up but a regular shirt and shorts works too. I guess I didn't review them because I went before I became a yelper. Lol. My husband took me here for my birthday dinner. Since I'm a chicken piccata eater well I ordered the piccata they don't have small plate they just have 1 size. No choice of pasta just linguine or sautéed vegetables. I took the vegetables. Well when it came out and I tasted the piccata was a little was different. It had Good taste in butter wine, capers, sauce but the way they prepared the chicken I really thought it was different. It was sautéed with flour instead of lightly brown with a little of bread crumbs. The vegetables were sautéed with I think olive oil and seasoned with thyme or oregano didn't care for the taste But the antipasto salad was good. And of course the free bread hot and soft. Maybe the next time I'll try something different. My husband had veal salitmbocca he said was good big piece of veal, eggplant. He's dinner was a winner. Have leftover for days. Lol read more

This restaurant is located in Pearl Kai Shopping Center. There's ample parking and on a Thursday evening my husband & I were seated right away. From the outside looking in, it looks really tiny but once you go inside it opens to a larger dining area. Service was excellent. The decor and lighting was giving old school Italian vibes. They serve complimentary bread & butter upon seating so we skipped the appetizers and just ordered entrees. My husband ordered the lasagna and I ordered the veal piccata. We both enjoyed our food. It was tasty and the prices were reasonable. For dessert, we shared a tiramisu. It was not our favorite but it was okay. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit so next time you're in the area, skip Bravos and give this place a try. read more

Met a friend for dinner at Ricado's last night and we really enjoyed ourselves! This place was a tad bit too quiet for this guest of mines (lol), but our server was such a good sport in making us feel comfortable - and I'm very thankful for that since we were celebrating her birthday. 4 thumbs up on the service :) As for the food: We chose the Shrimp Piccata appetizer which went perfectly with the warm bread. The Chicken Piccata at Ricado's was actually the only dish I would order back 18-20 years ago, before I got hooked on the Saltimbocca. Anyways, the piccata sauce is still AMAZING! The Shrimp Piccata was the perfect appetizer, though fairly small to share. For my entree, I was debating between the Chicken Marsala or Chicken Saltimbocca (since I always order the Saltimbocca), but our server confidently steered me back to the Saltimbocca. He also added that the Marsala dish uses the same sauce, so that was the deciding factor for me as I was only planning to try the Marsala for a different flavor. Happy to say I was 100% pleased with my decision because the Saltimbocca was SO FLAVORFUL and tender.. the pasta was also cooked to perfection and that sauce was plentiful throughout. Friend selected the Linguine Meatballs with Pink Sauce for her entree. Definitely not something I'd order due to its simplicity, but it was delicious and she enjoyed the blend of marinara and alfredo sauce (?). Again, our server assisted with this order because my friend only had a picture of what looked good from her sifting thru Yelp and asked about it. It has been a long while since I last dined here at Ricado's, and I'm glad to see they are still doing well. We love going to this tried and true eatery and have been coming back for years. Just about everything on their menu is great, I especially like the Pollo Alpesto, a creamy pesto. It's so flavorful and the pesto is cooked perfectly. Their salads are really good too and so refreshing. The added bonus is their WARM loaf of bread. Yum! And if you would like more bread they are more than happy to accommodate! One thing I do wish they went back to was the "dim" atmosphere. It was a chill type of vibe with the lights not as bright and for some reason it seemed that folks didn't really talk as loud... And I loved the candles. My husband and I used to come here a few times a year to celebrate our anniversary, birthday's and Valentine's Day pre-Covid but never continued when the numbers declined. Haven't been here for a while so decided to treat our kids to a nice dinner. Here's what we ordered: Drink: A few ordered their Plantation Ice Tea. It's on their chalkboard as you walk in so it's not listed on the menu. I tried a sip and thought it was good...reminded me of Coffee, Bean & Tea Leaf's. Appetizers: I always order the Sauteed Mushrooms and Sauteed Broccoli for our appetizers. My daughter wanted to order the Calamari Fritti. Never tried it before from here...it was delicious! The calamari was soooo soft and the batter crispy. The creamy home-made dressing was awesome! This will be my new favorite appetizer! All was so tasty...everyone enjoyed them! Entree: We ordered the "Chicken Marsala" with chicken breast, mushrooms and Marsala-wine butter sauce, "Fettuccine Chicken Alfredo" with sliced chicken breast, garlic and cream sauce, "Linguine and Clams" chopped with garlic in butter white-wine sauce and "Chicken Saltimbocca" with chicken breast, a thin slice of eggplant and prosciutto, cheese, mushrooms and Marsala-wine butter sauce...my favorite! I don't think we put a dent in our entree because we were kind of full from the appetizers and second helping of bread. Mentioned to everyone to leave room for dessert so they took home leftovers enough for lunch and then some. Dessert: We got the Mud Pie, Tiramisu, Mango Sorbet and Lychee Sorbet. Again, all was good! Our server Brandon, was very nice and attentive! He and the other servers served our food in a timely manner, refilled the water, cleared away the dishes, brought takeout containers and the bill without us asking for it. For 5 adults, we were out the door in less than an hour and a half...awesome! Can't wait for our next visit! FYI: The tip shown on the Merchant's receipt states the amount for 15, 18 and 20% for your convenience BUT it's based on your "Total" bill which should be based on your "Subtotal" (pre-tax) so you might want to figure it out yourself. read more

Back again to our favorite italian restaurant on the West side of Oahu. Always count on getting a hot baked loaf of bread with butter as part of your meal. Portions are very generous and everything is reasonably priced. I tend to stick with my known favorites and got the chicken picatta. It was like seeing an old friend again and the old friend looked even better than the last time. Hello chicken picatta! Come here into my mouth! Spaghetti bolognese- my daughter's pick and she finished her entire plate Cheese tortellini with cream sauce Chicken saltimboca Calamari House bread with butter (an absolute must!!!) The food is as good as I remember and the portions are huge! It was nice that we could order the house bread for takeout. It's so crusty and soft.
