Attended a Yelp event and got to try some of the delectable dishes at the Hmart Food Hall recently. Had to come back for more. Staff at Rice Boy were friendly and helpful at the counter when placing order and your number will be called when item is ready. Saw two other customers and what they ordered looked delicious and I wanted the fried soy chicken. Ordered a C1 for $11 bucks. Enough food to share with someone. Several pieces of fried soy chicken on the top and layer of salad, clear noodles, and rice at the bottom. Lots of tables and chairs where you can dine. Nice music playing in the background. Will be back again for more soy garlic chicken. read more

This stall is located right outside the Hmart's registers. There are many tables for seating. They were just opening when my daughter and I walked up. They took our order and we waited at a table nearby. They called our number relatively quickly. It didn't look like much but the beef was flavorful. I liked the mix of coleslaw, Japchae, rice, beef, onions, and scallions. It was quick, delicious, and hearty. read more

Rice Boy is next to Kimganae in the food court inside Hmart LIC. By and large, they complement each other pretty well in terms of covering Korean street food, with just a few overlaps. Rice Boy is a bit more casual and at slightly lower price points. Grand-opened in May'24 with 30% discount throught Aug'24 -- as of the date of this review (they've already extended 3 times and I hope they continue to do that!) Their signature offerings are the Cupbops, with many spins and mixes of (non-soup) Korean cuisines placed inside a paper bowl: boneless chicken, glass noodles, kimchi, bulgogi, fried dumplings, etc. Another main offerings are the mini pots/stews: tofu based and soy bean paste based soup dishes. These pretty much occupy 2/3 of its menu space. - Sweet & Spicy Chicken Cupbop $10. Very safe and balanced dish. Good mix of glass noodle, rice and garden salad in addition to the boneless chicken. - Soy Garlic Chicken Cupbop $11. Ditto the above, except the price just gone up between our visits! Can't go wrong with either one, except this one is saltier and missing the kick that the other one has. - Jajiang Noodle $13. Dry udon with onion and jajiang sauce and noodled cucumber. This was the first time I have jajiang on udon. It's OK but I prefer thinner type of noodle with this dish. - Soft Tofu Soup with Seafood $13. This is the classic Sundubu that I love. Hot, spicy with heavy seafood flavor and tantalizing texture of soft tofu. - Beef Denjang $ 13. This is the soy bean paste version of sundubu. This was the first time I tried it and definitely my last. Essentially miso soup base which is too lame for me. 3.5 but round down to 3 to differentiate my rating on Kimganae (4). read more

The H Mart on Northern Boulevard is having a cool deal where you can buy food at there food court for 30% off until the end of August! That sounded like such a great deal. I decided to go and check out what they had to offer. I'm a sucker for soy garlic chicken so that was the first thing I jumped for. Overall, a pretty decent bowl. There was a good amount of meat in there, and in my opinion, a whole lot of rice, but that's pretty standard. The H Mart food court itself is a bit weird because all of the food stands are right after the cash registers so it's a bit clustered in that area, but the food is good so no complaints here. A really smart business move on behalf of H-Mart! All the foods I've tried thus far are delicious but the standouts are definitely the squid, soy garlic chicken and jajangmyeon! My only gripe is that they don't offer appetizers over the deliver apps, so you have to order full size plates to get a taste of what you want. read more

We tried this Rice boy place in the food court of the H Mart in Long Island city. The food is super cooked to order and the soup was bubbling when it came out.! It was definitely a little spicy so you should ask for a medium. I also got the rice cakes, which were sweet and spicy a little too much sauce for me.. the food court is new and still super clean. I'll have to come back and try some other dishes to make a better decision if I like it or not. read more

We went during the grand opening of Hmart's food court (LIC location) on Friday and it was super packed. I guess I wasn't the only one that was excited about their grand opening. Most of the food court is located next to the cash registers and there are a couple of stalls (Oh K Dog and Gong Cha) located by the elevators. After walking around the food court, I decided to try out the Rice Boy food stall and got the Miso Ramen ($13.99) and the Beef Boy Rice Bowl ($12.99) to go. I honestly think they were overwhelmed by the number of visitors and weren't prepared for the volume that day. We waited about forty-five minutes for our food and probably would have waited more if I hadn't decided to go up to the counter to inquire about my order. The Beef Boy Rice Bowl had thin marinated slices of beef (bulgogi) on top of white rice, lettuce and plain japchae noodles. While the meat was nicely marinated and thin, the bowl itself was somewhat underwhelming. It could have used more grilled onions or something to amp the taste. The Miso Ramen was actually pretty good. The broth was packed separately which I appreciated. And the broth was nice and savory. Also, the ramen egg had a perfectly jammy yolk. The only thing it needed was more thinly sliced pork. The few tiny pieces (scraps really) were not enough for this size ramen bowl. I think the prices on the menu are pretty reasonable and with the additional grand opening discount it was even better. The discount is going on until June 6th (one month) for 30% off discount in the food court. Plenty of time to try out one of their food stalls. Just be prepared to bring some patience with you as they work out the kinks. I am most likely going to be trying out their food court again but will try to time it during non-peak times. read more

...maybe I just ordered the wrong thing? I came here after grabbing a few items at H-Mart and was starving, so I figured, why not give the food court a try? They're offering 30% off all items from now until the first week of July to celebrate their grand opening, so it seemed a good a time as any to eat here. Ambiance wise it's just a few kiosks and tables in the corner of HMart, which would be totally fine if the food were solid. After looking at the offerings at Rice Boy and its neighboring kiosk, I decided to get a bowl of ramen since I've been feeling under the weather (yes, even in this heat wave). There were definitely more compelling options on this menu including a variety of rice and noodle dishes, but the heart wants what it wants. After around 20 or so minutes of waiting for my Tonkotsu ramen, it came out and I quickly realized I'd been catfished. The menu photo showed ramen with a jammy ramen egg on top and think slices of meat. What came out was a watery mess with frozen corn topped with a hard boiled egg and two slices of rubbery meat. The broth was tasteless, so much so that I asked the counter if they had any hot sauce or chili flakes I could add. Their only sauces were $2 a pop, which I would've purchased if any of them had been a flavor that would've gone along with this ramen, but they were all sweet and spicy types of sauces which would've been weird in this bowl of soup. Even the noodles tasted microwaved. I took a few more bites but it just wasn't good, and ended up leaving the mostly full dish at the counter. I get that it's just a food court, but I've had better ramen out of a packet that I've purchased in this very store than whatever the heck this was. Total let down. read more

Ate here today for dinner after work and helping out the book fair at P.S. 152 Q as a substitute paraprofessional. I had brought and ordered the spicy rice cake. It was absolutely great, super spicy and delicious. The service there was also really good and friendly that I didn't feel rushed about what to choose, buy and eat. I couldn't agree more. Solid but unspectacular. Minimal ambience at a food court. Service is a bit slower but the food is fresh. Army stew is ok, small but varied bits including hot dogs, pork belly, tofu, beans and cheese. If you're craving it, it'll hit the spot. For me, the Galbi tang was better. Good amounts of beef in a tasty broth. It's an easy value play with the grand opening discount but the normal prices seemed acceptable for a Manhattanite. We order the black bean noodles, seafood pancake and the chicken bowl. The chicken was salty and I personally wasn't a fan. The noodles were not traditional due to them using an udon like noodle so I was not a huge fan. The seafood pancake was ok but the squid was too chewy for me and hurt my jaw since I was chewing so much. Overall I think it was okay but i wouldn't come again. read more

Newly opened inside the HMart LIC new food court. The cupbop bowls are pretty good. It comes with japchae noodles, some salad, rice and a protein of choice. You can ask to taste. I got the soy garlic chicken. It's small pieces of fried chicken bites. It's tasty. My fav though is the japchae. It's so good. I could do a bowl of just that. I also had the spicy squid skillet. It comes with rice. It's not too spicy. That has good flavors. You order and then wait for your number to be called. The cupbob ingredients are cooked and out already, so that is probably really quick. They have seats in the food court for eating in. read more

As much as I wanted to write a positive review, I cannot bring myself to think of any positives other than the food is actually pretty good. The service on the other hand is pretty awful. I understand it's still new and adjusting to the lunch rush but I have been here 4 times and today was the worst of it. The person taking orders in extremely inexperienced and doesn't know the menu at all. I have ordered extra things on the side from this same cashier and today she said it's not possible. I also ordered a rice bowl but instead of the rice I asked for extra noodles, what I received is a bed a lettuce with a few noodles and the chicken I ordered (picture included). I was charged extra for the noodles as well. My coworker also ordered after me and after 15 minutes my food was ready but she said my coworkers would take another 20 minutes. In total, I waiting 45 minutes for the food. We were on our lunch break at work and spent the whole time waiting for our lunch rather than enjoying it. Another team from my office also ordered and was told it would be a 30-40 minute wait. Other coworkers were there before me and they received their whole order incorrect after waiting for half an hour. Unfortunately, my coworkers and I agreed we would rather wait for a delivery to the office rather than come back to wait at the HMart food court. If you do go, be prepared to wait a very long time and to possibly have your order wrong. read more

The cashier has no customer service skills at all, she needs to be in a position where she is good at. First, she punched in all the orders and when she was asked if she already applied the discount, she said with confidence YES!!when the receipt was doubled checked, she didn't applied it at all, when called her attention, she corrected it without apology. After serving all the orders with other customers, who ordered behind us, she turned to us and said that there's no more glass noodles and that's the caused of delay in giving us our food, she asked if we want additional rice instead, she could have said tha earlier and NOT after more than 30 MINUTES of waiting in front of her! I was very excited about the food court at the H mart but honestly the energy in there is very negative the employees seem overwhelmed everywhere. My family and I decided to order from RICE BOY just to be a complete disappointment the soups were bland and the beef too salty, the employees are very friendly and offer salt on the side but come on if I have to add salt to my own food what are we paying for?! The worst experience was witnessing the manger tall Korean guy screaming and talking down on the employees. The food court was packed with families trying to enjoy a nice lunch/dinner. If the manager has no respect for the employees how is the business going to be successful. It was a terrible experience for me and my family and for that reason we will not be going back and I'm making sure to let all of our friends know. I decided to visit rice boy since I heard good things about it! Was so disappointed! The food took a very long time once I Finally got my food they didn't have the clear noodles so They told me to wait another 15 min but I Was not waiting anymore I was very upset I just took what they had and left! Food to spicy blend needs more love. The costumer service was very nice but very slow! I also saw someone who I think it's probably the manager screaming!! Yelling at the employees to hurry up to pay attention but not in a very nice way he was being very rude about which is why I decided to write the review. I think there are ways to treat your employees and that is not one of them. Maybe hire someone who can actually communicate whith the employees in a better nicer manner! Who knows it might better the food. It's a good location would be sad to let it go to waste! I would definitely be going again giving it another try hopefully I can a different experience! read more
