I ate at Chicken Hut a few years ago, and I really liked it. I decided to visit again on my most recent trip to LA, and sadly, I was extremely disappointed this time around. Both the service and the food were pretty lacking. I should have known when I looked around and saw that everyone else in the restaurant was eating the Korean BBQ and I was the only one who ordered chicken. I remember the old chicken wings being much larger, with better breading, and a better sauce. The wings I got this time around were no better than the ones I would could at 25¢ wing night at a cheap bar; they were tiny, barely breaded, and the sauce tasted like cheap canned sweet chili, not true Korean BBQ flavor. All in all, the wings were extremely disappointing this time around. What made matters worse was the service was really bad too. The server seemed like he didn't want to be there; he barely said much more to me than asking what I wanted to eat, I had to ask separately for water, chop sticks, and napkins, all things that should be automatic, and he never checked in on me or thanked me for coming. In the end, I was really disappointed that I traveled all the way to K-Town from DT LA for such a bad dining experience. read more

Juicy, mouthwatering, and crunchy Korean Fried Chicken! And wait, I can also order a bento box of Bulgogi at the same time? Say less! I had the sweet chili fried chicken and the soy garlic fried chicken. Both flavors were so flavorful, and the chicken had a good bite to it, and smothered with sauce! I don't know about you guys, but I love dunking my Korean fried chicken in even more sauce, so I LOVE that they have a bunch of different flavors of dipping sauce to choose from. We also got an order of fries to share, which was thin cut and crispy. I really wanted to try their Bulgogi so I went ahead and got the bento box. The Bulgogi was well marinated and delicious. I freakin loved the mac/potato salad that came in the bento box. Sooo good. I also got to try Yoju here!!! It's yogurt soju in a can and it is definitely worth the try! We tried both the mango and white peach, but I'd say that white peach was my favorite. If you're looking for a good time with yummy food, I highly recommend Chicken Hut. This place was interesting because it was part of Bulgogi Hut so I was a bit confused when trying to look for the place inside. I had been craving authentic KFC and came across Chicken hut on yelp during a drive through Ktown. Overall I really liked it -- the portions could be better, the banchan could also be also be better (please see pictures below) and the fried rice was a bit on the oilier side but nonetheless still a solid meal. I just didn't feel too great afterwards. However, if you are looking for solid KFC in ktown, I think this is a great place to try! read more

Since I was already dining at Bulgogi Hut, I figured I would try some Chicken Hut, which debuted during the pandemic-enforced dining shutdown and turned out to be very popular! I ordered wings with original and sweet chili...well, what I THOUGHT was original turned out to be soy garlic. Anyways, both were really good. Of the two flavors, I liked the sweet chili a little more than the soy garlic. Batter was great for both. The sweetness of sweet chili complemented the batter really well. Soy garlic had a very unique flavor to it, I'm not mad that I got this instead of original. Since our Bulgogi Hut server Sandra basically just added this Chicken Hut order on top of my meal, I just paid for it as part of my lunch. My sister and I got the whole chicken combo. The food was 10/10. The chicken falls off the bone easily. The fried chicken is crunchy. The spicy radish is good, not too spicy or bland. I was surprised to receive a bigger portion of fries. The fries are crispy and lightly salted. I like the Soy Garlic Chicken the most. Customer service was great. Our server checked on us a couple of times while we were there and made sure we had everything we needed. When ordering you have to say that you're there for the chicken because they'll assume you're there for the kbbq. read more

Good place in Koreatown, located on the ground floor of an office block. It was a bit confusing to us because the sign we saw most prominently read "Bulgogi Hut." Luckily we asked and were assured that it was also the Chicken Hut. I tried the wings because I love chicken wings and while they were quite good, my companion's bento box cost roughly the same and he got much more food. Will be back to sample the soy sauce-garlic wings. Also, this place stays open relatively late (10 p.m.?), which was a plus for us. I would also be curious to try their AYCE barbecue but you have to be with the right company for that, and not for less than an hour prior to the official closing time. I actually would give this 3.75 stars but I can't seem to adjust my personal rating up above. I take off a quarter of a point because it's a bit difficult to find and because the vents were on--understandably, to keep the scents of grilling meats and garlic and kimchee moving along (there are barbecue grills at each table). Thanks for ruining my perfectly fine Sunday afternoon, Chicken Hut. I ordered half & half - sweet chili & soy garlic. The meager amount was already a minus when I opened it - I ended up only having 3 pieces of the sweet chili, because there were more bone and marrow than actual meat. The chili paste used is actually not bad. Not great, but passable, a bit too sour, and not enough spice and sweetness. The meat, whatever little amount that is present, had very little juice to it. Made me feel like they were too cheap to use the actually tasty parts, not leftover scrap. The pickup process was 30 minutes longer than it needed to be. We were pleasantly surprised with a price tag of $28 and some change, when the menu that is on Yelp read $21.99. "Sorry, price recently went up," the hostess said, as she showed us the updated menu, with a price of $24. We explained to the hostess that $24 + tax does not come out to $29. "Oh sorry, I charged you for the wrong items!" Ok, that's fine, except she disappeared to the back for 10 minutes (while the line for Bulgogi Hut kept growing, lol). When she didn't come back, we went in to look for her, and our chicken. She informed us that the new total would be $26.xx, and we handed her $40. She handed back $11, and went on to insist that her math was correct. All right, different people have different challenges, I get it. Here's where service actually became a problem for a to-go pick up order. The manager also came out, and insisted that the transaction was correct. To quote her, word for word, "What is the problem?" The problem is that Chicken Hut apparently can't be bothered to have a cash register, which would do the math for mathematically challenged employees. We ultimately got our money, and our long delayed chicken, and I got to leave a nice review for a respectable establishment, so I guess we can call it even. read more

This is an overdue review - I'm a huge fan of Bulgogi Hut, been going there with my family since forever. They've got great quality meats and you really couldn't beat their price for AYCE. And their corn cheese is soooooo good. I came to try this place because I saw their post on SAT about how they were struggling during covid and they started doing korean fried chicken. We went for a late lunch last August of 2020. Upon arrival, they checked your temperature and seated you out in front of their restaurant (every table was sanitized prior to our arrival, all tables separated by 6ft and via plexiglass as well). We ordered their korean fried chicken (soy garlic and I think a spicy flavor as well), some korean street tacos, and a bulgogi bibimbap. Their korean fried chicken was surprisingly really good. It was crunchy, it was sweet, juicy, the batter wasn't too thick and overall great wings in general. Their korean street tacos (although they didn't look like much) they were pretty bomb as well! The bulgogi bibimbap was where it was at! For about $13, this thing was HUGE! And it was still very hot and steaming when they brought it out! I had high hopes for this place as the reviews were stellar. I don't know if they just had an off day with my order or what, but I didn't have the best experience. Here are the pros and cons if you don't have the patience to read long reviews. Pros: -the sauces on the chicken were delicious -they give you A LOT OF DIPPING SAUCES Cons: -the actual wait time was a lot longer than what they said over the phone -the chicken is not the best quality (there's a lot of fat and weird stuff that's not meat) -they forgot things in my order -the radish isn't the delicious Korean white radish -the bacon wrapped rice cakes were disgusting. They were not only cold and hard, they used poor quality bacon and even when heated it tasted nasty Long version is below. First, I placed the order over the phone at around 12:10. I ordered: half sweet chili, half garlic chicken, bacon wrapped rice cakes, and the macaroni salad. The person on the phone recommended the bacon wrapped rice cakes and told me they were delicious so I was excited. She told me it'll take about 20 minutes, so I headed over there by exactly 12:30 (I don't like to be late and I don't like to wait). When I got there, the server told me that my order wasn't ready yet. I paid in advance and I just waited there, since I thought it would only be a short wait. Suddenly, a bunch of people started showing up to pick up their orders, but pretty much none of their orders were ready yet, and a huge line formed. After about 12:45, I asked the server how much longer mine would be, and she said that it shouldn't take much longer. Finally at 12:50ish, a whole 20 minutes extra (40 minutes total), my order was finally out. Normally I'd be more angry about the extra wait since I HATE WAITING, but whatever...I just left because I was excited about my food. When I got home.... Disappointment. They forgot to pack my macaroni and the bacon wrapped rice cakes were COLD and HARD. The server over the phone also told me that I would get 4 sides of radish (2 for each type of chicken) but I only got 2. :/ Side note about the radish too--it's not the delicious square white radish that they have on the website and that comes with most Korean fried chicken. It's spicy radish that's chopped into thin slices (like cucumbers in sushi hand rolls. Diced? Idk I'm not a cook). I ignored the rice cakes for now since I wanted to try the chicken. The sweet chili was a little sickeningly sweet and drippy, but whatever, I think they were supposed to be that way. The garlic was actually the best. They need to patent that garlic seasoning cuz it's really savory and delicious. The bad thing though, was that there was a lot of fat and weird spots in the chicken. I had to spit out a lot of what I was chewing because of the weird fatty/other mouth feel. I finally tried the bacon wrapped rice cakes... And I wish I hadn't. I tried them 2x: once as they were and once heated. The first time I tried it I had to spit it out. The bacon smelled old and the rice cakes were hard and disgusting. I heated it up, hoping maybe it would be better once they were heated. It wasn't better. If anything it was worse- the rice cakes literally turned into glue and it was mixed in with the grease from the bacon, making it taste like chewy, stinky lard. Anyway, I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager regarding my experience. They apologized and refunded my money for the rice cakes and the macaroni. All in all....idk if I'd return again. :/ I'm not like... Angry... But I'm just disappointed that I chose this place instead of waiting for GolTong chicken. :( read more

AMAZING chicken! We did have a little trouble finding this place. It is the same as Bulgogi Hut! Overall the experience was very enjoyable. Great portions and lots of flavors to choose from. The food was made very fresh and came with a generous side of picked radish. I tried the garlic and sweet and spicy sauce and both were very good (I preferred the garlic a bit more). I ordered all 3 flavors (original, sweet chili and soy garlic) in only wings, fries and macaroni. For 8 pieces they're each $12.99. I thought they might be a bit small because of the price but they were pretty decent size so we ended up having a lot left over. All 3 flavors were great. The breading on the wings were perfection! I would describe it as a modernized version of the traditional fried chicken. My favorite was the original, my sister's was the sweet chili and my brother in law's was the soy garlic so you can't go wrong with any of the selections in my opinion. They were having a promotion where they were offering all 9 dipping sauces with your order. It seems like they were all made in store and it was fun working through and comparing all of the sauces. You can't go wrong with that honey bbq by the way. Get a side of fries if you end up getting a bunch of sauces. I ordered over the phone and they had my order ready in 15 minutes. Came here to pick up an order this week and the food did not disappoint. I heard the original business (bulgogi hut) was struggling, as many restaurants are during Covid, so I thought I'd give it a shot and support. I'm glad I did. The fried chicken was probably the best Korean fried chicken I've ever had. While getting back in the car I told my wife I had to eat one piece to experience maximum crispness (a downside to getting fried anything to go) and we both ended up eating half the chicken while our kids I patiently sat in the backseat. We got half original and half soy garlic. We also got a squid ssambap meal which came with ssam (fresh lettuce), squid (can choose from various proteins), rice, and a bunch of small sides to put inside the lettuce wrap.
