Owner JJ and May both were very welcoming and super nice. Their curries are very tasty, Caribbean rice was delicious and the dumplings were excellent. Favorite local sushi place right here! I've been multiple times but the pic below is from earlier this week during the pandemic, their carry out was super quick everything was packaged up super nicely and came with soy sauce ginger and wasabi. The quality was definitely the same for takeout comparing it to times I have eaten at the restaurant. I always get at least one piece of the sake nigiri because their salmon is such great quality! I would definitely recommend the double tap roll and the Boston roll, I tried the spicy crab roll and am not really a fan when the seaweed is on the outside so I wouldn't order that again. read more

Virgin rolls: they got the flavors of a fresh roll right, but I think the star here is their sauce!! Perfect combo of sweet/savory peanut sauce.. Tasty. Lake front roll: delicious fish/avo combo, and a hint of horseradish in the sauce. Yum. Drunken noodles: these are delicious and spicy!! Lots of crunchy veg, chewy noodles, and egg. Awesome selection of rolls, at good pricing! Tbh, I would recommend this place over Screaming Tuna any day. The sushi quality was good, I love that they had inventive and fun rolls, and that everything was clearly labeled as being gluten free (or not). Will definitely order again! Was able to get three rolls, delivered, for right around $30 bucks- and one was even a specialty roll. Delivery came faster than I expected, and everything was packaged and labeled beautifully. First time coming here and it was great!! The service was awesome and the food was even better. It's a smaller sushi restaurant but I liked that aspect of it. It's very intimate but also chill. You're able to see where the kitchen is and see the chefs make the sushi while enjoying the relaxing ambiance. Our waiter was patient when we didn't know what we wanted to order right away and came back every so often to make sure we were good with our drinks. I really enjoyed their sushi! It was fresh tasting and they had so many different rolls to choose from that were all unique! They also had your normal rolls you can find elsewhere, but I always love trying new rolls. They had so many different combinations for their sushi rolls it was hard to narrow it down to a couple rolls. I'll definitely have to come back here to try all their others. My friend ordered their beef and that tasted fresh as well and very flavorful. Fabulous sushi. Huge variety of rolls, both cooked and uncooked. The Milwaukee and Alaska rolls were my favorites, but the awesome maki is similar to a Mexican roll with cilantro. The environment is very chill with music and a small dining room. There were a ton of takeout orders going out while we ate. The cooks take their time making a great display out of the sushi as well. Allright y'all sit tight. I've had my fair share of Pad Thai through the years. Heck I've been to Thailand and hunted down the best Pad Thai. Thailand! My amateur study of pad Thai has led me to believe that the best of the best are well balanced between sweet, savory, spicy, and sour as well as having a toothsome bite. Most importantly, it MUST have "wok hei" or "breath of the wok". This requires a chef to have an intimate understanding of the equipment that they are cooking with; flame can impart a smokiness to the food quite akin to how wood chips are used for smoking barbecue. Rice n Roll consistently serves pad Thai that meets the mark! This restaurant is indeed a gem in MKE. We've only ordered takeout but in the three months we've lived nearby I think we've ordered from here about 4 or 5 times. The chicken wings are my favorite but the crab Rangoon is right there, and the sushi is solid. Good pad Thai as well - I'm sure everything is good but we just keep ordering the same thing! They have a good beer and wine list. The menu is only online, which is great to stay COVID-friendly. Beware that all items are fried in the same frier, so do not order anything friend if you have food allergies. I got a veggie roll which was very delicious; better than most sushi in the city! If you want sushi, this is exactly where to go. My boyfriend and I rate sushi places based on what they provide on their deal sushi menus. Rice and Roll has 100% won. Their half off rolls are on Tuesdays from 4:30pm-5:30pm. Their sushi selection for that time frame is still one of the best I have seen in Milwaukee. Many of their rolls are Thai-food themed so basically the rolls have hints and undercurrents of popular Thai flavors and it's amazing. Every dish is an explosion of deliciousness in your mouth. Their East Town Monster is one of the greatest sushi rolls I have ever eaten in my life. It's warm surrounded by a sour, sweet, and spicy sauce that gets sucked up into the roll. I actually think about it a fair amount. I only tried their Thai food once and it was very good (I got the Khoa Soi). My main thing was going for their sushi and I am NEVER disappointed. I would try to schedule myself to not work on Tuesdays (I worked second shift) and my boyfriend would hurry home from class so that we could get to R&R before the deal ended. I'm like Usher. I have a confession. I've always been neutral on sushi. Don't love it. Also don't hate it. Tonight, everything changed between me and sushi. My dinner at Rice And Roll Bistro was a complete game changer and my relationship with sushi will never be the same. Ever. For whatever reason I was craving sushi and searched Yelp for nearby yummy sushi bites. I found that Rice N Roll was near me AND they have a super awesome happy hour special for food. A list of about 20 different sushi rolls are only $4 a roll. A few other dishes too. Happy hour drink specials? Probably. But I don't know really at all. I was here to eat. I sat at the counter and watched the sushi rolls get rolled and whatever else sushi rolls do. A few negatives...if it's really important to your sushi satisfaction.... Both of my rolls (one cold and one cooked) had bits of avocado fall out during transit from plate to soy sauce to mouth. This may have been my ill advised and perhaps embarrassing attempt at using chopsticks, maybe. Dunno. And my Boston roll had some issues with slight unraveling and pieces sticking to each other not wanting to give up rice to rice contact. But whatevs. Once it was in my belly it was tasty! Returned to give this place another try after a less than thrilling visit two days ago. We received much better customer service. The server returned to check how the meal was, brought water refills, and confirmed our order was correct. Still, somehow he forgot our crab rangoon until we mentioned it when he brought the meal... he was apologetic and provided it on the house. As with last time, our sushi tasted great. I also tried a more traditional entree (steak teriyaki). The sauce was great, though I'd suggest ordering it without the veggies it's stacked on as they're steamed or boiled and make the teriyaki runny. Also, I ordered my meat medium rare but would recommend medium as it had a chewy (almost fatty) texture. I took it to-go and will be recooking it at home. My partner ordered the Philly and miso soup lunch special. He said the salmon didn't taste as fresh, but that it was still good and the miso soup was "bomb". We had a good experience at Rice N Roll this past weekend. While visiting Milwaukee for the day, I yelped and found this place. As is the norm, I found the yelp reviews to be in-line with our actual experience, which was good. The service was OK and the ambiance was fine. There were quite a few times where we were waiting for a waitress or trying to wave someone down. It also seemed like they were using a pooled approach, because we had different people coming to our table each time. They could use some improvements there. In terms of the food, it was our first time here, so we tried a BUNCH of different things, and overall the food was good. Appetiziers Spicy Edamame - was fine, although the sauce they came dipped in was more sweet than spicy Tom Kha Soup - was good Veggie Sushi: Next we tried a couple of the veggie sushi rolls. The mango/avocado roll was OK. I liked the vegetable tempura rolls more. Thai Entrees: The red curry was decent The drunken noodles were good So I'm looking back through the above and seeing that although nothing was amazingly out of this world, pretty much everything we had was good. One of the best asian food restaurants in the city. We have gone multiple times, and have yet to try something we don't like. The service is also top notch. The Pad Thai my personal favorite because it's perfectly spice, enough to taste the spicy and feel it in our mouth, but not enough where your mouth burns afterwards. The only downside/FYI is the restaurant is small, so if you're looking to have 10+ people, I would call ahead and see if they have the space. If possible, try to Uber, otherwise there is no parking lot and street parking can become hard at night. Otherwise I high recommend this restaurant! read more

Rice N Roll is the best place ever. Best best BEST! You've gotta try their Indian Iced Coffee. I don't usually use cream or sweetener in my coffee but this was absolutely delicious and not cloyingly sweet. They also have awesome smoothies and bubble teas. The rolls are fantastic, obviously, my personal favorite being the Raising Sun Roll with a trio of spicy sauces drizzled on top. If you're feeling daring try it made with black rice! It's similar to a whole grain rice but has dynamic flavor and a pleasant crunch to it! It adds great texture to any roll. And if you're going to start with apps you should definitely have the spicy stuffed avocado or the Crab Rangoon. I get crab Rangoon EVERYWHERE I CAN because I like to compare and contrast and Rice N Roll has the BEST Crab Rangoon I've tried yet. This review is only for the sushi. We ordered several rolls including negihama, tuna avocado, salmon with cucumber, and some nigiri. Every single piece tasted the same, and the flavor was as incredibly bland. I could not tell you if I was having tuna or yellowtail. I was so disappointed given the high ratings and proximity, but I cannot imagine ordering sushi from here again. Maybe the more complex rolls have more flavor, but I strongly believe the best strength of a sushi restaurant is the quality of fish itself, and this place didn't hit the mark. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Milwaukee. I personally enjoy the panang curry with beef or chicken or the drunken noodle with mild spice. The service has been great in all of the times I've been there. I also think that they have the best thai tea I've ever had in Milwaukee to the point that I just get it to-go sometimes when I need a little pick-me-up. Thai food has been a staple favorite of mine for the past 20 years. I discovered it by being engaged to a man from Thailand who was an excellent cook at a Thai restaurant here in America. I am very picky about Thai food because I often find the places are Americanized and it is hard to find an authentically good place. Rice N Roll Bistro has definitely exceeded my expectations and I have been returning often. The Thai food , specifically the curries, are excellent. They use high quality coconut milk and authentic curry paste. The Panang Curry actually has ground peanuts in the dish and it is on point. It is sweet and although I WOULD recommend this for a person relatively new to curry, it runs a bit spicy and a person uninitiated to spice would probably want to order it mild because the base of it is already spicy.the mussamun curry is extremely delicious and savory. It is perfect for a beginner. If you go with a common staple and order the Pad Thai, that is unfortunately the one dish I have ordered from here that I was disappointed with. The noodles are extremely thin rice noodles, almost like woon sen noodles . They also offer pad Thai made with woon sen (tiny clear glass thread looking noodles), but I can't imagine how bad it would stick together, because the noodles they use literally were stuck together in a gelatinous lump. The sauce ratio to the noodles was terrible- there was hardly any sauce and that may have been why they were so dry and stuck together in a huge clump. The amount of sauce was so little that they were not wet really at all they were dryish and sticky and they also did not put ground peanuts in the dish, or on the side. I didn't see any egg pieces. I ordered fried tofu as the protein in it, which was wonderful. I ended taking the pad Thai and recooking it the next day by putting it in my wok and I added a spoon on maesri pad Thai sauce base and it made it really good /edible, so it wasn't wasted but I will never order that again from there and would not recommend it. For an out of this world pad Thai I would definitely try the "Thai A Kitchen" off Oakland by Oakland gyros and order the original pad Thai. The mussamun curry is my favorite curry from here. It has a lot of large chunks of potatoes that are so soft and well cooked, the beef is very tender and not stringy, and they cook the accompanying rice perfectly The crab rangoon are going to be a favorite for anyone who likes those. The Sushi rolls are also very good and they are fresh and high quality. I've had the spicy tuna crispy rice one, and it is fried, crunchy, and to die for. I've also had the awesome maki and the bomber man maki. I would recommend the awesome but not the Bomberman, because it was just wayyyyy too many things and the texture of the caviar just isn't my thing. But the quality and presentation is top notch. Obviously I recommend this place. Try it out you won't regret it. read more

I've been to Rice N Roll twice while in Milwaukee for work. A coworker recommended this place and I'm so glad she did!! On both visits combined I've had the Smoky Crunch, the Stuffed (Fried) Avocado, the Clumsy Bueno and steamed Potstickers and I've loved it all. The Smoky Crunch is clean and tasty. The Stuffed Avocado with tuna is rich and delicious and the Clumsy Bueno with all its textures and flavors was sooo good. Potstickers were solid. Definitely check this quant place out. Don't expect fancy frills though. It's a small and simple place. And to top it off, I arrived a little early the second time there and rolls were get one and the second is 1/2 off. Happy Hour.
