Well, my daughter requests take out for her and her friends twice. Delivery - both times. I am not going here. What she orders is her business, I guess. I just pay. Once last week, that being the rainy weekend and then this last Saturday. I think I gave $40 to my daughter each of the times. In both instances, the food comes. Not real timely. The fried rice and fortune cookies are eaten. The sesame chicken last time was so fried and greasy, that only about 25% of it was eaten. The dogs got the rest. For whatever reason, they will eat anything. As long as they get outsides within the hour, it is all good. The other concoction I remember was tempura shrimp that looked like it might have been dug up. I do recall a couple vegetable deals that did not look too bad. With the exception of the broccoli, I kind of wondered if it the material was canned and then dumped into Wok or whether it was MSG and put back into the Wok. Frankly, they ought to outlaw delivery service and has some kind of guarantee to take back what is not fresh or eaten. Chinese food and delivery in McKinney has not been working for us. I like this place for 3 reasons: 1) If you eat in, they give you real plates, bowls, utensils, etc. even though it is basically fast food. 2) The combination lo mein is great and the portion is big enough for 2. The egg drop soup is great basic egg drop. yum. 3) You can make up stuff not on the menu (at least the other location in Anna let me). I asked, where is the chicken and mushrooms? She said, we can make it for you! PERFECT! thank you! I cannot tell you about the rest of the menu, but what i order makes me happy. I dont think I would enjoy this place as much getting it to go. Love this spot. I come to this store every Tuesday. Great customer service and the food is good. Good lunch specials, and the food comes out quick and hot. When I come here, I usually order the sesame chicken or the orange chicken. They are served with good portions of rice and a spring roll. For the quantity and the price can't really get much better. Even in comparison to Panda Express down the road, I think this place gives you more bang for your buck. read more

Tried this for the first time. Walnut prawns has very little sauce. Egg rolls and crab rangoon did not come with any sweet and sour sauce. Beef broccoli and pepper beef has very little beef on it. Over all just okay but lots of other better chinese restaurant take out in the area. read more

First, normally in the past the combo fried rice had an odd after taste and weird tasting stringy brownish meat in it. This evening it was a+ fried rice was about as perfect as it gets. In all the food this evening was awesome and really tasty. Delivery Chinese did not taste like Chinese delivery it was 1000% better than it has been in the past. The new menu is also awesome, easy to read easy to understand and more simplified. Great work rice pot. read more

It is really difficult to find fresh decent Chinese food anywhere in Texas. I decided on a whim to get take out here on my way home from school one day. I got the Dragon and Phoenix (sweet and sour chicken and sesame chicken) with fried rice and spring rolls. I was extremely impressed. The sauces were flavorful and fresh and the spring roll was one of the best I've ever had. I've been going back every week since then! The fried rice that comes with the combos isn't great but if you actually order Chicken Fried Rice its very good! Employees are very nice and the portions are huge! Ordered walnut shrimp, sauce is supposed to be sweet, it's not, broccoli had brown spots on it, shrimp was extra extra soggy and instead of walnuts it was pecans..I would have preferred no nuts to pecans..and there were a lot of them. The little old lady at the front counter seems to be forcing a smile but she didn't make anything unpleasant. Was kind of short but just did her job. Prices are okay for Chinese food. Food was okay, nothing incredibly superb but good (I'm not a fan of Chinese food in the first place though). Seemed like everything was drowned in sauce, which I don't like. I ordered shrimp fried rice which was good but you can tell the vegetables were previously frozen. You shouldn't be able to tell. The shrimp was yummy however. For 2 adult meals and 2 childs meals including our drinks ended up being 36 dollars. read more

The restaurant is very yummy and reasonably priced. It is very convenient to drive to and is extremely fast, even if you don't call ahead. Ok. At first I just gave it 1 star. But I wanted to be fair. The food was OK. Freezer section at the grocery store Ok. (I am not trying to be mean) my family owns an Italian restaurant I have worked in restaurants for years and the food at the Rice Pot comes frozen. Not a lot of cooking in this kitchen, mostly just warming food up. Frozen is not always bad if you pay frozen tasting prices. You do not. Over priced at $10 a plate (over priced based on the taste and portion sizes) now I have eaten bad food if the environment of the establishment is killer. It is Not. And the service is not good at all. OK, so maybe they are from China and it is normal to be annoyed by your customers but this is not China. This is America and in the south to boot. A little southern hospitality would do good things for your business. They were not as bad as The Soup Nazi from Sinefield but they were not happy to see me either. Go to Imperial Garden on Eldorado. My husband and I always get sesame chicken and fried rice. On the menu we saw "Honey Sesame Chicken" which (obviously) was assumed to be different than our regular main dish. We ordered it anyway, and shared it with my daughter, too. It was probably the best sesame chicken I've ever had, and my three-year-old had no problems eating all of the chicken that I cut up for her. Kids that age usually fight the food you put on the table, but I didn't even have to ask her to finish her bites. We just moved to this area, and now we know our go-to chinese food take-out. read more

I like this place. Food quality is good, price reasonable and consistent with quality. One of the first things I judge a Chinese restaurant by is the quality of its chicken and shrimp - if the chicken smells, I know they are cutting corners. If the shrimp are de-veined, I know that they are promising as far as quality goes. Rice Pot Express at the corner of Lakeforest and 380 passed both these tests with flying colors. I love the Kung Pao, the lo-meins are very tasty as well. The portion quantity is excellent. I would have loved if their lunch special menu had more items on it. Four star because they charge delivery fee for delivery - I know that with the gas prices and all now a days, that makes sense, but I still feel that they should not charge delivery fee for such short drives. read more

Ordered the basic meal orange chicken and I couldn't finish it. The chicken tasted like it has been sitting out for long periods of time. his was my first time at this location and WOW. Let me tell you, I am as picky as it gets when it comes to Chinese food, tasted everything from good to bad, even though this may be a little out of my way and dozen other Chinese restaurants between my house and Rice Pot, this is it. No longer do I have to look for another good Chinese restaurant. My wife always gets General Tso's no matter where we go, and she thought this was the best General Tso's. After trying a few bites myself I had to agree with her statement. The egg-drop soup was also done right. Not too dense like some places overdo it, just right. I had the Happy Family and in my opinion it's something that can taste awful real quick if not done right. So to put this place to a test that's exactly what i ordered. WOW made me think of that Sonic commercial (when dudes mind was blown and he had to write it down in his notebook) Either way, just like the previous person wrote it's great food, portions are large and staff seems to be very kind. From the little conversation that we had, they told me it's under new management, so take it for what it's worth. I am going to make this my weekly Chinese food fix !!! read more

I just realized that i accidentally gave the other RicePot a bad review. The one i meant to review was this one. 10/2013 Yesterday our family of four (including teens) ordered three dishes from Rice Pot Express for a total cost of $25.00 (plus tip). After waiting almost an hour for food to be delivered, we opened the brown bag only to discover that one of the dishes was missing, the food was cold and the portions were smaller than what we are used to seeing at other Chinese restaurants. What surprised us the most was the rude customer service we received from the manager when we called to explain this. The cashier was nice and trying to be accommodating but she explained that the manager did not have time to send the driver our way with the missing dish or deal with food the arrived cold with small portions. I then suggested that i would go pick up the missing dish and was met with hostility on the part of the manager (i could hear her in the background telling the cashier what to tell us). The manager refused to give us the missing dish or reimburse us for the cost of the dish. All the cashier could say is that she is new (cashier) and that the manager does this a lot to other customers. She doesn't like dealing with customer complaints so she just brushes the customers off. In my 30 years of eating Asian food, i have never encountered such rudeness, poor quality service and poor Chinese food such as the one i have at this restaurant., I would definitely not recommend Rice Pot Express to anyone. There are much better quality Asian food at other restaurants that are in close proximity to Rice Pot. read more

Just ordered the Mongolian Beef. It had beef, lots of onion, and four black peppers. Also some type of small (I think) rice noodle. Ladled up with a very greasy sauce. The rice was supposed to be fried but was a dark rice that was stall. Very salty and there was no other taste. 10.00 dollars in the trash. I won't be going back. read more

I tried this restaurant for the first time and was very pleased with the quality and freshness of the food. I ordered the cashew nuts entree with chicken.
