Excellent food and good service in a scenic location. They've made some attempts to be accessibly, but the ramp isn't usable without help (a bit of a ledge at the bottom, otherwise good) but they've installed high tables and high stools in the only accessible part of the restaurant making it unusable for us wheelchair users. Accessibility issues aside, its the only place on PEI for reliably delicious fish and chips. read more

Oh my foodie mind just exploded......there is a group of 6 of us so we had the opportunity to try the lobster roll, lobster club, lobster burger and fish and chips. IMO - skip the club and burger and just go straight for the roll or fish and chips. Lots of lobster in the roll and the fish and chips were amazing. read more

I've never had a lobster roll before so it's hard to compare but the roll was warm and it had a ton of lobster. I thought it was pretty tasty. Richard's came highly recommended by both the locals and TripAdvisor, so we had to check it out as we are all lobster roll buffs. We heard the wait times are typically long, up to two hours, but we only had to wait about 20 minutes. Perhaps that is because we arrived around 4:50pm on Canada Day and things were quieter. I ordered the lobster "burger" which pretty much means it was served warm in a light butter sauce on a burger bun instead of cold with mayo and the works. It was good, but nothing to write home about. It was a bit tough and rubbery, not tender and juicy. And the fries were extremely soggy and limp, not the crispy goodness I've come to expect. Overall, a cute local haunt worth checking out if you're in the national park. But I've had better rolls in the states, in New Hampshire and Mass. Pro tip: rent bikes from Shaw's and bike the 20 minutes on the hike trail to earn your meal and work off some calories. read more

This place was by far my favorite thing about PEI when I lived there. Best Fish n Chips I've ever had and Lobster Rolls to die for. And their tartar sauce is amazing. I will really miss it and is a MUST if on the island in the summer. Get there early as there's usually a line. read more

Excellent! Great sea shack atmosphere and excellent food with generous portions. The fish and chips is far less greasy than just about anywhere. Lobster rolls are great and made with large chunks of lobster. Richard's also sells fresh seafood to go at reasonable prices. At peak times expect wait times of up to 25min. At the end of a long day, the waiting may contribute to the abundance of child and parent temper meltdowns going on around you in the dining area. Consider taking your meal down to the pier or beach to avoid the chaos. read more

This place is worth the drive-as was evident by the large line I found when I arrived. You place your order at the window and grab a vibrating coaster that indicates when your order is ready. I partook in the fish and chips and some mussels. Both were as fine an example as I've probably ever had. The fish is lightly coated and served with their signature tartar sauce. So flaky and light that it was devoured in short order. The mussels were plump and sweet with a side of butter for dipping. I was in heaven! The "Lobster Burgers" here are incredible. Huge chunks of claw and other meat are piled up loose on a buttered and toasted bun. The lobster is fresh and delicious and they offer a great side of fries to boot. The atmosphere suits the wharf perfectly, and though there is sometimes a bit of wait due to so many people knowing about the great food here, it is always worth the wait. This place is rapidly becoming the worst kept secret on the Island and its "lobsterling" reputation (lobster-sterling... see what I did there?) is well deserved. A little shack that makes some great food! Don't go here if you're looking for something super healthy...its fried food! The batter on the fish was crunchy and delicious. I let the scallops sit a little too long in their basket but they were perfect size and good once I peeled off the greasy outside. We had dinner here on Sunday evening..it was still busy and there was a long line. You order meal at the window and then find a spot to sit while they cook your food (30-40 minutes tonight). We grabbed a few beers from the market next door and found a spot at a table on the top deck and enjoyed the nice view. The buzzer eventually went off and we grabbed our dinner - a lobster roll, fish hamburger, and steamed mussels (they were out of clams). The portions were generous and fresh. There were plenty of fries to be shared, glad we didn't have two orders. The lobster roll had plenty of large-chunk meat and the mussels were tasty. The fish was breaded but lite and crispy - it was a nice big piece of haddock. Overall, a good meal worth the wait. Prices were average for the island. read more

Went for lunch with my two daughters, well worth the wait. The lobster roll was delicious and packed full the good stuff. my daughters had fish and chips and ate every bite, they are 8 and 10. with a view of Brackley Beach and a full belly we enjoyed every minute..next time im on the island..im going..respect. read more

The food is very good but the wait time is horrendous and they are always running out of things. Lots of flies in the eating area. Wish they had some sort of call ahead order. Also wish that they would just stock up more. They've been doing it for a while they should know how much of what they sell by now. read more

Made it a point to stop by here for lunch since I researched reviews for this area. From what I read Richard's is delicious and affordable. This was half accurate as it most mostly delicious but pricey. First of all, we drove to this quaint little area and noticed there aren't many nearby places to eat (if there were any at all). When I stepped up to restaurant, I was surprised at their prices as they were notably higher than what I expected. (I had looked up their menu before our trip and noticed no prices were listed. I had seen other travelers' images of their prices and based my preparation on this. I understand that prices change due to many factors so my preconceived notion was not based on information from the restaurant itself.) Overall, my family enjoyed the fish and chips. The fish was obviously fresh, and cooked well. I thought my lobster roll was just ok. Definitely not the best compared to others I had during our trip through Maine and PEI. If I knew all of this I would have completely skipped the lobster roll for something else. We could have eaten just as well for less somewhere else. If I am lucky enough to visit PEI again, I would skip this place. read more

Today was one of those beautiful sunny summer days on Prince Edward Island that everyone looks forward to, so we thought we'd head to the wharf for lunch before the beach. We'd heard about Richard's and now after tasting a few things from their menu - we look forward to making a point of coming back! My father-in-law ordered a lobster roll that came loaded, on a garlic bun. He's had 4 sandwiches in 5 days and this was the best one yet. My wife ordered a fish burger that also arrived on a garlic bun and she was so surprised that it wasn't a mash but a huge piece of cod (lightly breaded) that she was beside herself....... and then the lady who gave us our order reappeared at the table to tell us that they felt bad about sending her off with such a small piece of fish (which was ridiculous really) and dropped off another huge fillet. This was impressive! Myself, I had the basic "fish and chips" and really enjoyed the tar-tar sauce that is served up with the fish, so much so I went back to grab some to bring back to the RV. Richard's is now a regular pitstop for us whenever we head to Brackley Beach (which is truly one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever experience in the summer here in Canada (and we are from BC). Everything anyone has written about Richards is absolutely true, including the wait. At least they warn you at the order window. Second best lobster role since Eventides in Portland, Maine. For a take out place the food is top shelf and the atmosphere at the wharf what you would expect. I will be back again while in PEI. read more
