Hours later: Upon entering the place, the interior totally had that vintage diner vibe and the way they play up the Betty Boop, Strawberries, and glass Coke bottle vibe couldn't be more spot on. The young lady that sat us was very sweet and the young lady who served us (who was part of the family who's owned it since 1938) was also very sweet. I couldn't help but spill my guts as to how much I LOVED the vibe! The applewood smoked bacon melted in my mouth ... the link sausage had a great savory flavor ... and, the glazed strawberries for desert were TO DIE FOR!!! We read the yelp reviews and decided to give Richmaid Restaurant a shot. It was brightly lit and interestingly decorated. There was a small group celebrating a 93rd b'day. Cool! We were told that it would be a few minutes for a table so we looked around at the decor while we waited. Once a table was cleared, we were invited to go have a seat. A server came over with menus and took our drink orders. Apparently Broasted Chicken is something that they're proud to serve but we both wanted beef so we asked our server to check with the kitchen to see if they had rare Prime Rib available. She came back and said yes so we both ordered it along with the House Salad and Clam Chowder. I wanted a loaded baked potato but they were out so we got mashed potatoes and gravy instead. Our salads were served first. The salad had iceberg lettuce, beets, kidney beans and croutons. Blue Cheese Dressing served on the side. The ingredients of the salad were pretty good. The dressing, not so much. Fairly bland and flavorless. And the salads were served on recently washed plates as they were warm rather than chilled. The Prime Rib came next. The outer parts of the meat (ribeye cap) were tender and flavorful. The center cut (ribeye) was tough. We had to ask for horse radish. The mashed potatoes needed more cream and butter as they were gluey. The gravy was so-so. The cole slaw was okay. We also had to ask for our Clam Chowder. It was very thick and not very clammy. For dessert, we had ask for the Spumoni that came with dinner. It was good but apparently without nuts. read more

First time here while taking in the experience of old-vine zins and other wines of Lodi. We were immediately greeted by such friendly staff who continued to be such wonderful hosts throughout our dining. I believe it was Chrissy who served us, however any one of the staff while passing by our table asked if we needed anything. Loved the old nostalgic setting with 45 Elvis records, etc. on the wall. Most especially it's been a while since I've had such a fresh and tender authentic turkey club sandwich including fresh avocado and toasted to perfection. Reviewing for to-go orders only so far. We have now ordered three times for breakfast to go and have been happy with the food all three times. The first time I ordered a two-two-and two. Still on a quest for biscuits and gravy in Lodi. The eggs and bacon were great and the bacon was actually crispy! The potatoes were amazing. The biscuits were yummy and the gravy was close. Still a little bland for my tastes and not enough sausage, but I'm admittedly overly picky and on a quest for a very specific taste that I have not found yet. My main complaint from our first order was we paid for two coffees and didn't get them, but that was as much hubby's fault for not checking when he picked up. I have also tried the eggs Benedict with shaved ham. I was envisioning SUPER thin slices of ham and these were BIG pieces of ham. Next time I might try bacon instead. I have also tried the same thing my Hubby has gotten all three times which is the waffles special with strawberries and cream. For to go orders, you can request the strawberries and cream on the side. The waffle is huge and fluffy and wonderful and with the fruit and cream on the side in separate containers it is wonderful!! The strawberries were REAL strawberries and not strawberry goo like some of the others in town. Hubby LOVES this breakfast. I have to say though... the coffee was not my favorite but we have been happy with everything else. Finally, the people who have taken more order have been friendly and helpful and hubby says the staff are friendly when he picks up the food. We are definitely going to be regulars! They skimp on the onions, and one piece of bacon isn't enough. What a SHAME! Let me explain what i saw today and experienced from this restaurant. My wife and i have been going to this restaurant 2 years before covid 19 happened. From the moment i stepped foot in the restaurant i was impressed by the décor and the all around atmosphere. The food was super delicious and was cooked to perfection. Lastly the senior management was outstanding and customer service was at an all time high! Now i am not sure what happened over the past 3 years to this staff and the restaurant but this is what i have experienced today. Lets start with the customer service. 1) The same senior manager Toni that i was use to having delightful conversations with would not even give me the time of day. i asked her how her morning was and she said good with a false smile then rushed around. When in the past with the exact same amount of business before she would at least ask me and my wife how our day was and work on that beautiful customer service. 2) I ordered a cup of coffee and only had one cup and was offered more coffee once at the end of my meal. Before covid they would walk around and not even ask but fill up my cup knowing that i was wanting more. Not only me but other customers as well, as it was free refills. That was a let down. Now lets talk about the food. 1) I ordered the 4 stack of pancakes and a side of sausage. My wife ordered the delicious chicken fried steak and eggs hash browns well done. My pancakes were dry and hard like they were in a warmer and not fresh made ( I am sure they were fresh) however it did not taste that way. and i will Never order the sausage again. it was mush in the middle and was gross. i am sure that is not the cooks fault as i will mention my opinion in the final section. 2) Before covid getting the same exact meals we walked out of the restaurant satisfied and waiting to come back for more next week. However now our stomachs hurt and we will not be returning. Lastly lets discuss the staff! VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ THIS! 1) As i mentioned pre covid senior management RAN the business and was in charge! they had maybe 3 or 4 younger workers that were being trained to lead with success and customer service with quality food. The kitchen staff and the waitresses had a very good communication and the staff spoke to each other in a professional calm manner. Senior management was calm, collected and not rushing with still providing amazing service. 2) Today i witness the SAME senior management being talk down to by younger workers. Eye rolls, grunting and talking behind the backs of the senior management. Whispering and pointing, arguing back being super unprofessional. Now i worked management for 6 years and customer service for 10. NEVER have i EVER been talked down to by a subordinate like they were today. PLEASE! if you are the staff from Richmaids and read this it is IMPARATIVE that you trust my review and have a team meeting and figure this out. I am so ashamed at what this restaurant has become. Hands down best mom and pop restaurant!! The decor is like a 50s diner. the staff is great!! Our waitress was an older women. She stated she's been there for (I think 20 plus years). She was on top of everything. She memorized our food and drink orders, without missing anything. I ordered the breasted chicken breakfast. The broasted chicken tasted like every bite was seasoned. The chicken was so moist and delicious. I also order the chicken family meals to go . The mashed potatoes are so delicious . I'm so happy that I FINALLY gave this restaurant a try. I have no idea what took me so long because it's been around forever and it's obviously a favorite amongst locals. I've been here 2 times this week. My 1st visit I ordered the broasted/fried chicken dinner. I was amazed with the flavor this chicken had. It's seriously good chicken! The mashed potatoes are very good as well. I asked for brown gravy instead of country gravy though because I'm not a fan of the country gravy. My 2nd visit I ordered the pot roast. This again tasted amazing. It was tender and tasted like it was something cooked in my kitchen for hours. I had the mashed potatoes again which again was great and my veggie today was Italian green beans. I love these kind of green beans so that made me happy too! Another plate ordered today in my to go order was the pork chops. He really liked his plate as well. He was surprised to see stuffing was included. The stuffing was really good too. In fact his plate looked so good I may order that next time. I will obviously be returning to this restaurant! We had no clue whether the portion size would be generous enough for us (we were very hungry) but there turned out to be a lot of food and we were happy :-) The chicken was simply awesome! It came with some really yummy gravy, and some really good mashed potatoes as well. They also included buttermilk biscuits and housemade coleslaw with our order. This restaurant has very reasonable prices, but the food was mediocre and bland. The food tasted like it was processed food that you buy at the grocery store in the frozen section, almost like the food they serve in nursing homes. Another thing that I noticed when attending the restaurant is that they don't offer enough napkins. When eating diner food I would assume that there should always be a plentiful quantity of napkins on the table. Reviews were good so, we gave it a try! We ordered their 3 pc chicken meal which came with mashed potatoes and veggies, a side of waffle, a bacon cheeseburger, a bowl of clam chowder and a strawberry shake to wash it all down with. The chicken was dry and under seasoned. The waffle, although decent was just average. The bacon cheeseburger was bland. Clam chowder was nothing special and the strawberry shake was just ok. The complimentary Spumoni Ice Cream however, was a nice treat. Service on the other hand was attentive without overbearing. A diner that pride themselves for their "Broasted" chicken- I expected more but, it was quite a disappointment and I don't think coming back would prove otherwise. I occasionally visit this spot for a nice breakfast with my family. I had a visit this morning that really changed my perspective on this place. My two children typically order the Mac & cheese, and for some reason manger Michelle wouldn't allow them to today. The reason being that they are not under 10 years old. I understand they may have a children's menu they abide by, but I insisted that we would pay additional being that they are over the age limit. The chicken was moist and tender lacking essential flavor-luckily we had hot sauce and honey. The sides were also mediocre at best. The gravy for the mashed potatoes was a white flavorless one and the coleslaw was crispy but lacking flavor. I would try again for the chicken but not sure about anything else. read more
