I used to come here as a kid every single weekend with my family. Over the years, the food has stayed consistently the same as I remembered. The service was a bit slow since it was busy on a Saturday morning, but our server was friendly and as fast as she could be. Lumberjack still looks the same with a cottage/cabin vibe when you walk in with all the wood. I recommend trying their breakfast platters as they taste really good. They also offer early bird dinners. We got the special of the day which was a breakfast steak with hash browns and eggs. My nephew got a biscuit and gravy dish and added sausage. I do recommend trying this place because it is something different every day with their specials.

Friday, December 19, 2025 Approx. 6:16 PM QUICK SUMMARY: Great restaurant, food & service. Will come here again. So, I had been going to Denny's in Lodi & Stockton for years, but that restaurant chain has gone totally down the tubes... sad but true. Therefore, I thought I'd give Lumberjacks a shot. PROS - - Within 45 seconds of entering the restaurant, this young dude named Mike guided us to our table, with menus and silverware in hand, served us water and informed us that our waitress would be with us soon. (If this were Denny's, we'd be waiting forever, and when we finally got our table, it would take 10 minutes just to get menus and then another 10 minutes to order.) Our waitress Rachel was very pleasant, energetic and took our orders right away. When the folks from the booth next to us cleared, Mike was cleaning up the table within one minute of its vacancy. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: Give Mike & Rachel raises ASAP. - While we were waiting for our meals, I was reading some of the other Yelp reviews on this venue, and was surprised to see all the negative comments. Was worried that my order might be unsatisfactory. I ordered Ribeye Steak & Eggs and it was DELICIOUS, and the food volume was large, as advertised. What was also impressive was that once the steak was done, the kitchen staff brought the piping hot plate to our table immediately. (If this were Denny's, the steak would have languished on the pick up counter for several minutes until someone had the time to bring the dish to our table.) - The restroom was clean, which also means a clean kitchen and food storage & preparation. CONS - Like Denny's, the interior temperature was cold, meaning that management is trying to cut electricity costs. If the temperature in this restaurant was warm, I'd give my review 5 stars. CONCLUSION: One of the best remaining old-school family restaurants in Stockton.

If you like big portions of food, this is the right place for you. The price fits for each meal. Love their seasoned fries and sweat potatoes wedges. We ordered 3 for party of four. The first server who took our order for our drinks kind of took a long time for him to serve our drinks. The second server who got our food order has to check on it and direct order him to bring it to our table. Which the lady apologize for the delay of service. The interior is the same old mountain style of interior. Now check out my pics and reviews.

Went here on a roadtrip with my family. We arrived just a little before close, we didn't check the time so I know that's frustrating and we probably wouldn't be getting the freshest they had to offer. That being said, the food was cold, everything had a very strange flavor, like cleaning product, and nothing was appetizing. Even my prime rib was very fatty, cold, and lacking flavor despite looking delicious. My niece's soda tested like straight Ajax bleach, we both agreed not to drink it. I assume since they were closing they probably had been cleaning up and we were tasting some of that. Not sure. Best thing by far was their bread and honey butter. Waitress was EXTREMELY kind though and very very sweet. Service was fine. But for the price, go somewhere else. We barely touched our food.

Came to Lumberjacks for some breakfast! It has an old school diner vibe. You could picture a group of older men coming here as ritual on the weekends - classic diner! My biscuit with honey butter was the highlight - absolutely delightful- moist and a bit sweet.Eggs were good. I ordered 2. Presentation could use some work as they served it on a huge plate but no big deal for a diner. Service was okay.

Very good.. service is exceptional.. always checking coffee and water. Very quick breakfast. 10-12 minute wait after order and piping hot! Coffee is very good 4.75 stars for a breakfast stop while traveling

Love that the Arnold Palmer was with pink lemonade !!! Yummy

Went Friday for late lunch/early dinner Food was so good and seated right away ...big portions and nice staff and one day I'll not order food and try the big chocolate cake lol I like that they have a dry erase board with specials and the soups for the day helps with the decisions making.

Service was 10/10. Extremely fast service and food was delicious! Our server checked in on us after we received our food which is always a must. Portions are large enough to even share if that's your thing! Bathrooms were clean and they do offer a changing station. I enjoyed watching the owner jump in and support in all areas of the business especially on a busy Sunday. Appreciate your hard work and employees Lumberjack Stockton! I would highly recommend!

Our server was very nice and patient with us, but food lacked flavor. The ambiance of the place was comforting and nostalgic.

It's been a while since we visited so we decided to stop in for a bite. The ambiance was nice and clean, they updated the seating since our last visit. We split the appetizer sampler, I had the fish and chips, and my wife went with the French dip. The food was good as always and came out hot but the service was slower than usual unfortunately we didn't see much of our server after the food and drinks were brought out... seemed like they might have been short staffed. Besides that it's still a good diner to get a good meal from.

I recommend making a reservation ahead of time, especially on weekends, as wait times can get long or they may not have any availability at all. I don't like how dark it is inside, so I prefer sitting near the front by the bar, where there's more lighting. They offer some special and seasonal items, but I've mostly enjoyed their wood-fired pizzas, espcially the Prosciutto and Arugula. I've also enjoyed their braised short ribs, skirt steak, and buttermilk chicken sandwich. For brunch, I usually get the Short Rib Poutine and house-made doughnuts, but I noticed the poutine was no longer on the menu during my most recent visit. Their furikake fries and deviled eggs are also good. Overall, a decent restaurant for brunch, lunch, and dinner.

And I love it! Garlic Bro's is a not so hidden local favorite that has become much more popular through the years. It sits right on the Delta for a perfect water-front view for outside dining and those lucky enough to get the huge bay window seating on the inside. I can order a full meal just on the appetizers alone. Ive tried them all. The fried raviolis and the grilled duck wraps (in bacon) are among my favorites. Garlic Bro's has a unique selection of oven baked pizza's but when I come to Garlic Bro's, it's all about the entree's for me. My all-time favorite is the grilled garlic steak. It is the best rib eye steak in Stockton. I order mine blackened (crispy outside) with the brown mushroom gravy that comes in a side dish. For sides, I order the garlic mashed potatoes. They taste creamy good by itself but remember the mushroom brown gravy I ordered for the steak? It's really for my garlic mashed potato's. A perfect combo. Consider this a Pro Tip. My other side is the green death pasta. You have to request it (another Pro Tip). I've tried pesto pasta everywhere and it's only this delicious at Garlic Bro's. The honorable mention is the grilled pork steak. The best pork steak in Stockton. The grilled lamb chops are good - just not as great as the other two entrees....but I'm a very tough critic when it comes to lamb chops. One thing to know at Garlic Bro's is they don't water down the mixed drinks. You definitely get what you pay for. And the price tag is actually pretty reasonable. Garlic Bro's can get very busy so come early for good seats and parking - because they don't take reservations.

My husband called in the order and I advised him to get there early as things have a tendency to sell out. 15 minutes later he arrived in the small strip mall off Don & Hammer, happy to find a disabled spot almost right in front. The area itself is a bit sketchy but okay during the abbreviated hours, mostly 11AM-4PM.. Closed Saturdays and most Sundays. The two big bags of wonderful smelling food cost $70, and I will describe and show photos of just what you will receive. A special note for the owner's son, Big D. The fact you noticed my guy was both elderly and disabled and offering help with the bags was beyond and above. He doesn't mention it but he's still a bit unsteady after hip surgery. My food rating is 4.5 but genuine kindness bumps it to a full 5! We started in splitting the chicken sandwich. I loved the fresh, lightly toasted bread and the fact this small business father and son team source locally. The roll was dressed with shredded lettuce and a couple ripe tomato slices. Two meaty slices of bacon added to the enjoyment, but what really knocked me out and made this such a fine value, 2 huge, (about the size of your palm and fingers), slices of breast with another half thrown in for good measure. The chicken benefitted from marinating then grilling just right. Missing in action? Any and all ranch dressing-I even looked for to-go containers but none to be found. Comparing notes with DH he said his bread was dripping with sauce to the point of being soggy...I guessed when the sandwich was upright on the drive home everything wet rushed to one side! Stuff happens. The size of these sandwiches is huge but we moved on to the Cowboy for dinner. Cut in two, I took the smaller side, closer to 5". I've deconstructed down to the point of separating out onions, mushroom and tri tip. We opted for Provolone for more of a cheesesteak vibe. Generous slabs of mild cheese helped hold the whole thing together. DH grilled tri tip and ribs for the Stockton Ports game for several years and knew what to look for. The consensus, fair amount of meat, cooked medium well, tender with good flavor. I specified BBQ sauce on the side, which was no problem. That way I could deconstruct my half Cowboy, could be a nurse thing! DH thought too many onions while I thought the ratio to meat was spot on. Sadly the mushrooms turned out to be 3/4ths of one button mushroom thinly sliced for my share. Both grilled onions and mushrooms add additional moisture and flavor. Adding the sauce, a molasses tomato blend with a small peppery kick made for a very enjoyable meal. The onion rings were about 1/2" thick and plentiful. Crispy on the outside while still being moist on the inside with sweet onion. The coconut pie was creamy with toasted coconut sprinkled over the whipped topping. The crust was of interest, buttery cookie instead of graham cracker or standard pie crust. Our chocolate cream pie was a chocolate lover's dream. A light mousse touch to the filling with heavier ganache brownie crust. We're still working on that one. So 4 meals, 2 happy campers and even our dogs give 4 paws up.
