So, I dropped off my car for an oil change at the Kia dealership and decided to eat at Denny's. Seeing Rick's Burgers down the street, I felt nostalgic and decided to eat there. Boy, was that the wrong move on my part! Where do I begin? Well, for starters, the place is run-down. Unless you're into early '70s décor, it's an eyesore, not to mention there's no air conditioning. So, if you dine here, drink plenty of fluids. I ordered the chorizo and egg plate that came with potatoes. If I can describe it in one word: horrible. The chorizo tasted old and chewy, and the potatoes were sliced thin and underwhelming. The only decent item was the beans; they were okay. This is definitely not the Rick's I used to go to back in the day. Don't make the mistake I made and avoid this place at all costs. I felt like I just threw away $16.49.

Ortega Breakfast is potatoes with an awesome salsa and egg with cheese, Chile and I add spinach to it and coffee .

Have been coming to Rick's since highschool always bring so much memories just to ate burger and fries with my coupon after school . Has changed so much through the years misses the Latino vibe there and the Latino music on the weekends. I'm glad food still the same.. Customer Service is awesome I know the girls and cooks for years they're always so nice .

Hard pass on this place folks

Just witnessed a shorter tan woman with dark hair all but chase what would have been a customer out the door by very aggressively calling them a hispanic curse word due to them asking if there was a restroom they could use before they ordered their meal. Us and the only other table sat just looked on in shock. We only came here because the Popping Yolk up the street (a five start spot) was slammed. First time here and urge you not to visit. Zero customer service, and slow, all while completely empty on Sunday brunch rush. The food was simply..... bad! Am by no means a coffee snob, and rarely drink it, but this coffee MUST be the powdered insta coffee because have had better coffee at a low budget hotel. Or anywhere else. Not many breakfast options around downtown Alhambra, but would suggest going, again, anywhere else.

This place is a SCAM they will tow your car even if they are closed down. Food sucks and very rude to customers they think don't have money.

Best breakfast ever! Come here every now and then and each time I leave feeling better. Cindy helped us out today and was the sweetest to us. Really made my friend and I have a good start to our day.

Friend, now I know what food is like in prison. The gravy was a bland, featureless runny liquid (no, even runnier than you're thinking), devoid of any seasoning whatsoever. I legitimately believe they dug a pan that used to have gravy in it out of the dirty dishes, swished some water around in it and poured it on my plate. The "biscuits" were hardly any better, lacking any hint of butter or flake, instead seeming like someone stirred up some Bisquick and threw it on the flattop grill. This meal was an insult and a punishment, and as part of a $70 check it felt like I was being personally invited to a fistfight by the dumpster. Alas, I had somewhere else to be. And somewhere else, anywhere else, is what I'll choose next time when breakfast is due. For reference, biscuits and gravy should include round, buttery, flaky biscuits using dough that was rolled out, cut, and baked. Gravy in this context is a richer, creamier milk gravy with substance, at minimum seasoned with fresh cracked pepper and perhaps some paprika. Offering a sausage gravy wouldn't hurt either. Or don't offer biscuits and gravy at all if you don't know what the f**k you're doing.

Despite its popularity, I find the food to be fairly average. Much of it tastes like it's made from standard commercial food-service ingredients rather than prepared fresh. On the positive side, the prices are reasonable, the dining room has a pleasant atmosphere, and the staff is generally attentive. Overall, it's a decent neighborhood breakfast restaurant - nothing particularly memorable, but nothing especially disappointing either. The Reyn Special - 3/5. A classic breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, hash browns, and banana bread. The eggs and bacon are fairly average, although the bacon tends to be overcooked and dry. The standout is the hash browns. They're cooked with a nicely browned, crispy crust while still remaining fairly moist inside. The real highlight, however, is the banana bread. It tastes homemade and is easily the best item on the plate. Crepes - 1/5. This dish comes as two separate plates: one with the ricotta-filled crepes and another with eggs, sausage, bacon, and your choice of fries or tater tots. Unfortunately, the crepes are the weakest part of the meal. The ricotta-filled crepes don't taste freshly made and instead resemble a pre-made food-service product that's simply reheated before serving. Both the crepe and ricotta filling have a generic flavor with noticeable artificial notes. You can choose either banana or strawberry topping, but both sauces taste overly processed and artificial. The accompanying breakfast plate is noticeably better. I chose the tater tots, which were well prepared - crispy on the outside while remaining soft inside. The bacon, however, was again overcooked and dry, making it tough to chew. The sausage was acceptable but unremarkable. Scrambled Supreme - 2.5/5. Despite the name, this is essentially an omelet. The eggs have a mild, neutral flavor, and the fillings are okay but don't stand out. Coffee - 2/5. The coffee is classic diner coffee in every sense. It's somewhat watery, heavily roasted, and finishes with a flat, slightly bitter aftertaste. It's neither particularly good nor particularly bad - just standard coffee that does the job. Overall, The Reyn succeeds as a comfortable, affordable breakfast spot with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. While the food is average, and several dishes rely on ingredients that taste commercially prepared rather than freshly made.

I'm so glad we did because we had a wonderful time. Right off the bat, however, I want to point out that this is a cash only establishment. Yes, they do have an ATM inside, but if you want to avoid what I'm assuming is a crazy service fee, bring plenty of cash with you because this place isn't the cheapest meal in town. It's not expensive, but it's not cheap. Also, there is very limited parking so just be ready to park on the street a bit away and walking in. The location itself is small. Narrow and deep. They squeeze in as many tables as they can around the walls while having a long countertop that runs the length of the kitchen. But, with all that said, and with them trying to cram in as many people as possible, it didn't feel too cramped. Only time we really felt the high density was when one of my kids needed to use the restroom and we had to find somewhere to stand and wait for it to become available. Outside of the front of the restaurant, there really is no space to just stand around. The food itself is wonderful. The burgers are no nonsense. They're not trying to be anything other than just a classic diner burger and fries. And that's exactly what I want from a place like this. Nothing is made for Instagram or to chase a trend. This place knows what they're good at because they've been doing it for decades and they don't stray from that. It's a total 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' mentality here and it's better off for it. My son got the chili and demolished it. I was worried he wouldn't like it, but it was anything but the case. I haven't seen him eat chili that fast in a long time. The dessert was good, but probably my least favorite part of the whole meal. I think I just wanted something different than what I ordered. I got the peach crumble and, while tasty, it just didn't scratch the pie itch I wanted. It was the perfect blend of soft and crispy. The crumble was good, but I think I wanted more of it. I'm being picky here, but I think it just slightly missed the mark. I really enjoyed my brunch at Pie N Burger. It was a wonderful outing. From the friendly staff to the classic food. It was just nice. And I absolutely look forward to coming back. Again and again.

However, the restaurant was still only half full the entire time we were there. Food came out very slow but the service staff was very apologetic and provided above and beyond service to make up for the slow service! It was greatly appreciated! Kitchen staff dropped the ball on multiple fronts tonight but I still have them 4 stars, here's why. I ordered a double smokey burger. This took the longest to arrive, probably 20-25 mins after ordering. It's suppose to come with BBQ ranch sauce but when I bit into the burger, I didn't taste any sweetness as expected of BBQ sauce. Took a second and confirmed, yup no sauce was included. I got in line and waited patiently for the cashier to ask for the sauce. She was very apologetic again and quickly brought a helping of the BBQ ranch sauce to our table. With the sauce this burger is perfection!!! The bacon was perfectly crispy! I mean like crispy chips without being hard. The patty was still piping hot even after we ate half way thru!! Buns were nicely toasted. The rocket, well according to the receipt we ordered the original although we had asked for the rocket. Guess we'll just have to go back another day to try that secret sauce! The original burger comes with mustard, relish, and pickles. Overall I loved it but I think there was too much mustard that made the burger eat very acidic, too acidic for me. Still a banger! Tots were delicious!! With grilled onions added really elevated the dish!!! The kitchen originally forgot the grilled onions (which was an extra $1.19) service staff again was very apologetic and brought the grilled onions on a separate plate after. We got a chocolate chip cookie on the house too make up for the inconveniences tonight. If I wasn't going to Handel's right after I would've opted for a complimentary shake instead. The cookie is more under baked, tasted like cookie dough but had an unpleasant taste. I took two nibbles and left the rest. I love the ambience! This place is nostalgic for us adults who grew up in the 90's!! No more chicken strips, instead they now offer chicken wings and chicken sandwiches! Fountain drinks self service with Pepsi products. There's also brewed tea available. I ran into a kitchen staff when I went to the restroom and found out that the other kitchen cook had actually burned her face somehow today. I don't know if it was earlier or while we were there but that could explain why the heavy delays with our food. They just weren't prepared to accommodate the higher foot traffic with Handel's grand opening. I'm rooting for them!! Excellent front of house service and excellent quality food!!
