    1/4 Hamburger

We drive by this place all the time and the drive-thru is always full so we decided to try it out for a late night dinner. It was a minute or two before 10:30 PM and the open lights were still blinking so we pulled into the drive thru. After a moment, we got an automated message the restaurant was closed so we began to leave when a different voice spoke out asking what we wanted to order. We thought maybe they close at 1030 but didn't turn off the sign yet, so we were happy to place our order. But checking the hours now (listed here and on their official website), it's weird that the automatic recording would say they're closed 90 minutes before they actually close. It seems like a small mom and pop type shop but they should get that fixed. Anyway, we got to the menu and quickly scanned it. Because, at the time we felt like they were staying open just for us, we felt pressured to order quickly so we got the 1/4 burger combo without giving the rest of the menu much of a glance. The 1/4 burger combo was the biggest thing on the menu so it jumped out at us first and we went with it. The ordering interface may need help because we had to repeat ourselves a few times. When asked if we wanted cheese, we said yes--should have asked if that was extra because it was. Each slice of cheese ended up being like $1+ and I totally regret it from a wallet standpoint. The drive thru did feel pretty tight and I have a small car so if you're not a good driver, maybe go inside instead. When we got to the window, the overall wait was just few minutes and soon we had our door and were driving home. Anyway, we enjoyed the fries in the combo during our drive home. Nothing special here but fries are always good when they're fresh and hot. Not much salt on them but that's fine. When we got home, we ate our burgers which were tightly and neatly packed. 1/4 patty, sesame seed bun, shredded lettuce, and sauce. I was satisfied but this burger does not stand out compared to all the other burgers I've eaten over the course of my life. I would say it's a small step above the Big Mac--the meat is better quality but it's also without the extra bun and patty (though 2 Big Mac patties is likely equivalent to a 1/4 patty). Not really sure if it had pickles or onions. Would recommend for a quick, no frills meal. Couldn't say much about their extended menu though as our first visit, it seems, was likely the culmination of misunderstandings.

Always worth a stop on the way back to the Bay Area. Massive size and clean tasting pastrami. Bread can get soggy on the drive, so eat it quick!

Steak breakfast with scrambled eggs and wheat toast. Yum! Perfect breakfast to start my day.

The seasoned potato's are very tasty. Nice relaxing ambiance. Perfect spot to eat and catch up on the latest news on the monitor. The service was great as well.

It was a Sunday afternoon and the place was hopping! I was getting their famous onion rings. The servers were all smiling, the wait was minimal, you basically order through one person standing at a computer. She was very pleasant, I opted to also order a pastrami sandwich. As I waited, I noticed the smoothness of service I like to call "a well oiled machine"! People were sitting at their tables and as their order came up, a name was called to be handed delivered to the customer, again always with a smile! When I got to my friend's house the onion rings were still perfectly hot and still crispy, dipped in a sour cream sauce that cooled them down enough to not burn your mouth! When I came home I dug into my pastrami sandwich (I miss that sandwich from the old Greenblat's on the Sunset plaza) it was ginormous! It had a perfect balance with single slices of pickles, yellow mustard and cheese on a soft bun. I was in heaven, I saved the other half, deconstructed it, pan fried it and added an egg to it the next morning. What amazed me was that it was not greasy, it was all meat! I loved everything about this place, the feeling of an all American Diner is truly heartwarming! Great job for keeping Rick's open all these years, they even have a drive through window!

Rick's is such a LA staple, many people frequent this restaurant before and after the Dodgers games! When arriving the parking lot is a small lot in front of the restaurant, but they do have additional parking to the side of the restaurant! When you walk in you are greeted by a very very strong presence of Dodgers gear! The restaurant offers plenty of seating as well as TVs. You place your order at the counter first and then you grab a seat anywhere in the place, no one to assign seats! We ordered the cheeseburger combo one with fries and one upgraded to onion rings. We also upgraded one drink to a vanilla milkshake. Our order came out very fast! The burger was definitely not lacking any toppings. There was the perfect amount of each ingredient on the burger! The first bite, I was hooked, it was so juicy and flavorful. The flavor reminded me of if a Big Mac and a whopper had a baby, it would be a Rick's cheeseburger! The fries are SO delicious, they are crispy and HOT. The onion rings were out of this world. They were big in size and very flavorful especially with the ranch! The milkshake was a hand scooped one, and you could definitely taste the authentic vanilla flavor! The only reason we give it a 4 star is the price. It was $40 for two meals, which is pretty steep, but overall it was a delicious meal that left us full! Go check out Rick's if you're in the area or if you're going to a game, make it a tradition!

A nice spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner, when you're in the silver lake area. It's near Griffith Park Glendale dodger stadium echo Park and the silver lake reservoir.

I went with three other friends for lunch. Had turkey burger it and fries and order a slice of pie to go. Service was ok. It has an old diner feel; with booth seating. You place you order and sit down and someone brings it to you. My only complaint was that my pie wasn't ready when it was time to leave. I have to wait for someone to slice and package it, so I had three people waiting in the car for me. It wasn't an efficient process. Parking is limited because this is a small lot.

    Nasty, undercooked eggs

We were looking for pastrami sandwiches while in SoCal since no one in NorCal makes them the same way. Husband ordered his pastrami sandwich & at first look, it looked delicious! I began to unwrap it and realized its super greasy. First bite in & the salt hits yo, hard. Its way too salty AND greasy. We've had many pastrami sandwiches and this is by far, the greasing, most salty one ever & that's not a good thing. I ordered the 2 eggs, hotcakes & sausage plate. The pancakes were undercooked & tasted like raw batter. The eggs, which I ordered over easy, were almost completely raw. Took one bit and was grossed out. Couldn't finish my meal. Almost went to ask for a refund but Im not comfortable making a fuss so I just left the plate. My daughter ordered the sausage breakfast burrito & liked it. It was huge & she couldn't finish it.

My order for tonight's ricks super buy
    Manuel R.

Tonight we stopped by our place ricks we have been coming here since I can't remember that long:) so I ordered 2 ricks super buy and 2 club sandwiches and a bacon burger thru the drive thru got to the window they took our payment got our drinks and waited for food when he came to the window with food he asked if we wanted condiments so I asked for 5 ranch 5 thousand islands 1 for each of us .he proceeded to tell me that we would have to charge me extra cause it's over 3 sauces.and I asked him how much he said .25cents each I was like since when do you guys charge for condiments I've had this seperate issue 2 years ago when the lady wanted to charge me .75 cents each for them. Funny thing is I spoke to the owner angelo one day when I saw him coming to his restaurant he said there is no sauce policy and they shouldn't have asked to charge you for it .now I'm getting to think that maybe these employees that are charging for this extra sauces are doing so to make a little side money for themselves without the owner knowing well that's my observation.but all in all I would like if they going to charge you for extra sauces atleast do it upfront and not after you have made your payment.i have more details that i wont mention because all in all i still love supporting mom and pops business like ricks

    Bland chicken taco

The kids and I needed something quick and easy when we made a quick stop off on our way to Disneyland. I love these kinds of drive through because they always have one of my favorite fast foods, fried zucchini. I have a large pick up truck with a long truck bed (it's about 6.5 feet) and that drive thru was tight. Folks with longer cars, make sure you check your mirrors as you make your way around to avoid any issues. We got a grilled cheese (my daughter enjoyed it but for $6 there was a sad amount of cheese. No cheese made it to the crust), fried zucchini (it was thick, breaded and seasoned well, and made fresh) , a chicken taco (this was bland with what seemed like boiled chicken maybe? I won't get that again), fries (just your average fries, nothing special.), a veggie burger (unfortunately this got really soggy and the bread fell apart which made it too hard for my son to eat) and a Jamaica tea (this tea was DELICIOUS! It was tart, not overly sweet and tasted authentic I'll go again, it not only got more of that Jamaica tea and the zucchini.

Good food. But what I enjoyed the most is the customer service. I shared this meal with my partner because we just needed a little something to hold us over until our next stop. The waitresses were nice and friendly. 5 stars because I had a big cheesy pull with the chili cheese fries!!

    Mark M.

came thought the drive thru because we were hungry. i've always seen people lined up at the drive thru so we decided to give it a try. i got the 1/4lb Hamburger with Cheese. The hamburger was huge. Probably because it was packed with lettuce. The cheese was an extra $1.50. the place looked like any burger diner. the burger was just okay. i was expecting some sort of special sauce with it but it was just a regular burger. i loved the fries. if you're craving to get your burger fix this place is it.

We stopped in on a Sunday around 11:30, no line and very quick service! Finished eating and left around 12:05 so we must've lucked out with no line. We got two double cheese burgers and the loaded fries. The burger had impressively thin patties with a really nice char on the meat skirt, well seasoned, and perfectly crispy. The buns were quite small and a bit smooshed, but they were soft. It came with some fry sauce and pickles as well, overall a good burger. The fries had a good amount of toppings (cheese onions, fry sauce) and were nice and crispy. Kinda wish the onions were slightly more grilled for some extra flavor! Would probably go for plain next time as the loaded fries and burger together had similar flavors The interior has a few benches for seating and single bar type seating around the perimeter - I could see it filling up if there's a big line of people. After all, when you click this joint on Google Maps, a fancy review pops up. Nice! However, when the smash burger entered my cave and caressed my buds, my mind instantly recognized it as a Big Mac. Therefore, my brain could hardly differentiate between a McDonalds burger, and the "best" burger in LA. I haven't eaten at McDonalds in 14 years, but my mind still knew what a gentle and warm face looks like. So overall, it was alright! As the reverend Shane Gillis says "Not Bad". The service was good tho. And the ambiance was a bit weird because the music was off. Haha bye!!!

Parking: Street parking was super easy on a Sunday afternoon, I was able to pull up right in front and park on the street. There is a Super A across the street and ample parking around for free. Ambiance & Food: This reminds me of an old school burger stand. Those were the best burgers and this one did not stop that trend. As I walked up, we were warmly greeted and given a quick rundown of what which burger. They did have specials (I will get to that in a second) which we were intrigued, but for the sake of perspective, I ordered the Goldburger and both regular fries and curly fries with a bottle coke. The Goldburger is naturally a double, but my gymrat protein brain added that extra patty. They use a 70% to 30% mixture for their burger which makes the burger oh so decadent. The picture I took doesn't do it justice. The moment you bite into the burger the combination of burger juice, aioli, burnt skirt, all come together in such a harmonious fashion. It was remarkable. Though fries are not one of my strong points, both fries were crispy and I haven't had any other experience with Curly fries other than Jack in the Box, but these were so much better. I went ahead and dipped the fries in some homemade Aioli and dang, what a combo! Back to those specials, the current special is CHILI, I was intrigued so they gave me a small container of it to try. Man, if I wasn't watching my caloric intake, that would have been the move. It was rich and chunky and not to soggy which some always comes. Give it a try as they said it will be around for sometime. I happened to be in the area, and even though I'd already eaten, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to finally drop in. Irv's originally opened in 1946 as Queen's Burgers, located right on Route 66 on Santa Monica Boulevard in WeHo, and was deeply ingrained in LA's historic car culture. In 1970, Irv Genis bought the stand and renamed it Irv's Burgers, and it quickly became a legendary late-night spot for rock icons like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison. By 2000, Sonia Hong took over, famously hand-drawing doodles on the paper plates alongside her signature slogan, "Just for you." After closing in 2013 and again in 2018, Lawrence Longo partnered with Sonia in 2021 to bring the brand back to life. They've since expanded quite a bit, even opening locations in Malibu and Las Vegas. On a staff recommendation, I ordered Irv's Original Roadside Burger Double ($11.25). Honestly, it was just okay. While a certain amount of grease and salt is expected with a burger, this one crossed the line into being a bit too salty and oily. On the bright side, the sesame bun was excellent, and I loved that they kept Sonia's legacy alive by printing her classic doodles on the tray placemats. While I'm glad Irv's was saved from history and is expanding, the food itself felt pretty so-so. The outdoor tables were also a bit dirty during my visit. I still love that classic roadside burger stand aesthetic with the outdoor stools, but unfortunately, I won't be in a rush to head back.

To say I'm super bummed is an understatement. I am so thankful that I happen to stop by for lunch and visit this location one last time. The same manager was there on the last day as when I went the first time two years ago. The staff there was always amazing, friendly, and the food was incredible. I think it was the Chinatown location that didn't work for them. However, the good news is that they do have three other locations and if you have never been, I suggest you check Kroft out if you love burgers, especially smashed. The other locations are in Long Beach, Anaheim, and Rancho Cucamonga. I wish them luck and I will definitely be stopping in their other locations if I am ever in the area.

Waited another 10min, while I saw other people picking up orders, so I checked in again. Same response, not ready yet. Another 10min passed by, now I'm seeeing people who came after me get their orders before me. Asked the staff again for my order status. The order pick up window person shouted my name to the kitchen each time I checked in. Finally the 3rd time they responded, they start arguing, apparently my order was done a long time ago, and it was given to someone else. It took 30min to figure out that my order had already been done and given to someone else because there was no communication between the kitchen, order staff or pick up staff. no apology, just got my food after the argument 3minutes later...Food was average, definitely not worth a 30min wait.
