I was going to a show at the Echoplex when my friends and I wanted to grab some food before hand. Broken up into the Rodeo and the Rodeo Express, one seems to be a full sit down restaurant while the other is the fast version, and since we were short on time and needed to eat quickly, the Rodeo Express seemed like the place to be on this night. When you walk in, you are standing right in front of the order counter where you can build whatever kind of burrito or bowl you want and I had a hankering for a burrito. I packed mine with lettuce, beans, rice, cheese, and barbacoa to round it out. The burrito ended up being much bigger than I anticipated which of course is a good thing, and that didn't stop me from eating the entire thing. All the ingredients mixed together and wrapped up in that flour tortilla tasted so good and was exactly what I was craving. Overall, Rodeo Express is the perfect place to stop and grab a quick burrito or bowl and be on the move. The pricing here was very reasonable for the amount of food you get, the ingredients are fresh, and the burrito itself was fantastic. read more

This is a great place, which unlike Chipotle, prepares it how you would really get a burrito if your Mexican mother was preparing it for you in East LA. They have a very adequate selection of fresh ingredients for a great tasting burrito or burrito bowl. They have ingredients you don't see at most places like nopales. It would be nice if they had their own parking lot as at certain times of the day, parking is not so easy. You don't even pay EXTRA for guacamole... yeah you heard right. No extra charge. They have shrimp/ceviche tostadas if you aren't interested in any of the above. Pick a drink. I've been a rodeo patron since 2007 back when happy Tom's was opened. I would alter between restaurants. Then the pandemic happened and this rodeo express opened. Love it continued coming like always supporting them. Till today! I encountered most rudest employee. First of all they tried charging me extra for asking for a bit more of nopales. I told this rude employee I wasn't getting any of the toppings but she rudely told me well that's your choice but I have to charge extra what? Like isn't this an anything you want on your burrito or bowls tacos kind of place ? I'm so disappointed in this place. Kinda hurts I didn't tip this lady when I always tip the employees here. To be honest this place makes an incredible burrito, but it's disappointing that they've been raising the price a dollar every couple months for a while now. When I started going here a couple years ago it was $5.99 for a burrito (which was a steal to be fair), but now they've consistently raised the price to where it's $15 now for a chicken burrito, so chipotle which is a couple blocks away has now become considerably cheaper...you can get a chicken burrito there for $10. So this spot is an extension of their actual Restaurant. It's an express slot where you can only order to go food.. I got their asada bowl and it was they have burritos (wet/or not). The Service was great and quick kinda like a Chipotle but the Flavors taste more authentic Mexican. If you're ever in the area and looking for a great quick meal to go check them out. read more

I personally love their carne asada as is the same one they use in the main restaurant plates. I love this place and I hope it stays how it is forever! The ladies behind the counter are super attentive and offer you to taste anything you want. They have plenty of seating inside and outside. There are also two TVs where they play mostly sports. Haha how is this Rodeo Express so much higher rated than the Rodeo Mexican Grill? I'm not even sure if they're the same management, but THIS place WAS amazing and totally deserves the 4.5 average rating. This is a Chipotle style restaurant, in that you line up, tell them what you'd like, watch them make it in front of you, pay, then take out or eat in. But with even MORE topping selections! I got the three tacos ($8.99) as opposed to burritos, bowls, salad, or tostada. You could choose flour or corn tortillas, I did flour. Each taco only had one layer of flour tortilla - I liked the tortilla but put SO much stuff in my taco that I had to eat one with a fork and knife. I chose 2 barbacoa, 1 "soup of the day" for my taco fillings. They have a ton of choices and they all looked really good. The window in front of the food is well labeled so you can see what you're getting. Everything tasted really fresh, the service was SUPER nice and took time to clarify that they heard your order correctly. Inside and the outdoor patio felt really clean. There was just a few small tabletops in the outdoor patio. They served on paper plates, and if you had leftovers, they had plastic tops that could easily snap on for you to take home. I came here after watching a show at The Echo and it was a perfect choice. Super close in walking distance, really fast, convenient and just delicious.
