Absolutely unacceptable experience with Jayco and Rick's RV. I bought my Jayco camper brand new just a year ago, and it has now been sitting in Rick's RV's service department for over a month for warranty repairs I was told would take two weeks. During this entire time, I have received zero updates unless I call them myself. Meanwhile, I am still making payments on this camper and paying for storage I can't even use because my camper is stuck in their shop. This has completely ruined my family's summer camping plans, and it is beyond frustrating that a brand-new camper should need to be in service for over a month without clear updates. To make matters worse, Rick's RV told me I could come pick up the camper without a working stove (which is under warranty) so I could use it. How ridiculous is it to pay $27,000 for a camper only to be told I can take it without a fully functioning kitchen because Jayco and Rick's RV can't figure out whether to replace the stove? The lack of transparency, accountability, and customer service from both Jayco and Rick's RV is outrageous and should be a serious warning to anyone thinking about buying from either company. They have my money, but I don't have the working camper I paid for, and they don't seem to care how this impacts their customers. If you are considering purchasing a Jayco or working with Rick's RV, think twice. Their customer service ends the moment they get your money, and you will be stuck chasing them for updates while your plans and wallet suffer. I am posting this publicly because I want others to know exactly what kind of service they can expect. read more

I can not say enough positives about the entire staff at Ricks. My first experience with Ricks was back in the 90s,I bought a well used Palomino pop up Jeff was my salesman they stood behind this pop up when it experienced a mechanical failure this happened twice and both times Ricks stood behind it. I have moved on from pop up campers and now own a 2013 Elite Suites built by DRV. I took it to Ricks to have my front clearance lights replaced and the roof caulked, During the time it was at their shop my wife passed away and i was unable to get it and put in a storage space,Ricks stored it for me on their lot all winter long,when i recently went to retrieve it they refused payment for storage and members of the service department came out and jumped my batteries so that i could run the landing gear front jacks they made sure i was connected safely to go down the road.TO ME 5 STARS IS NOT HIGH ENOUGH TO RATE THE STAFF AT RICKS RV 100 STARS WOULD BE MY RATEING.THANK YOU JEFF AND STAFF YOU ARE WONDERFUL!!!!!!! read more

I bought my first RV here in Dec2020. Paul was amazing at making sure that I was prepared for what I was getting into. I never felt like he was just selling me. Jim really helped me with the purchasing process as well. I really appreciated that they schedule time to go over everything in my new RV so that I would know how to take care it. I went back in Oct 2021. I needed an oil change for my chaisse and for my generator. I was really impressed that everyone remembered me. I mentioned an issue with my hot water heater and they made sure to look at it and repair it. read more

Rick's is the best. We bought our 1st travel trailer in 2020 and had a great experience with the entire team. I had it back a couple of times for various items and again, the service team was great each time. Our camper ended up getting totaled because of some tornadoes last year so we are in the market to purchase again. Jayco is at the top of the list because of the great ownership experience and because of Rick's RV being a dealer that is not too far away. read more

I figured I'd throw a five star review here after reading the reviews posted. Our experience was so good we traded in the 1st travel trailer we bought from Brian in 2013 to upgrade in 2019 to a large travel trailer. Brian has always been fair and helpful as well as everyone at Ricks Rv. I still reach out to Brian with questions to this day and he's called me a few times as well. Both delivery days when we went to pick up the camper went very smooth and the guy showing us around our new camper were very knowledgeable. I did have a few problems with some warranty stuff and with the two year bumper-to-bumper with Jayco everything got fixed with no problem. We bought our 35' fifth wheel in December of 2020. Since then it's been in the shop 3 times for the same problem and each time it's been out of commission for several months. After picking it up this week, the problem is still not fixed and we'll either need to write to the manufacturer or take it to another dealer. I do not recommend Rick's for any RV servicing - even the most basic issues either never get fixed or take months to resolve while you're without your vacation home. read more

I will start by saying the sales team and managers are amazing. With that said, the service side is the absolute worst I have ever seen. I had hail damage and wanted to give them the business, the insurance paid out just under 19k for the repairs. I get the trailer back and I can tell you the repairs looks worse than what it did before they touched it. They agreed to come an pick it up as I live 60 miles away, 3 weeks later I was told it's ready to pick it up. The exterior looked better than it was before. The interior I didn't check till I got home. And again I was completely shocked at the lack of professionalism that this so call service team has. Cushions were thrown around that are normally held on with Velcro. A screen was on the floor, a old gasket was hidden under my pull out couch. When I sent pictures of how the interior looked I was met with silence. My family brought this company a lot of customers and a lot of money. We drove completely out of our way to do business with them. And in the end this is how they showed their true colors. read more

I live 10 miles from a camping world and have to pass it and drive another 30 minutes to get to ricks and I'll be happy to pass that place every time! I had to jump on here and give huge kudos to the parts department! I'm a newbie to the RV world and this can be intimidating at times, but these guys are so very accommodating and knowledgeable. Good customer service is a rarity these days, great customer service gone - but not here. They answered all my questions and I learned so much. Ricks installed a 7 pin for me and I needed a ball hitch. I purchased one over the phone and had them hold it, but after the guy (sorry didn't get name) walked out to my car to make sure it was the right one, determined that he has something that would work better, and sure enough that second one was perfect. I'm blown away by how so very helpful everyone has been there. Hard to find. I'm sure they have no idea how they made this gal feel, but that parts staff....give them a raise! read more

I am writing this post to warn others about what Rick's RV did to me. They sold me a lemon RV, you need to adhere to the old saying of "buyer be aware". This place sold me a used $16000.00 RV, I drove it to Sturgis last year, and slowly but surely there was a stink that turned out to be Mold And Mildew. I didn't find out about the mold until I went to trade it in at Camping World in Katie Tx. for a new one. They did a test on the RV and found that 3/4 of the class C motor home I bought was water logged throughout. I could only get $1500.00 for the Class C that I paid $16000.00 for. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM RICK'S RV in Joliet. THEY'RE A RIPOFF, OVERPRICED ON EVERYTHING, INCLUDING ACCESSORIES!!!! Steer clear of Rick's RV in Joliet, they will burn you if they can. read more

No pressure to buy, and when we visited the brick and mortar store we got more of the laid back, give the customer all the information they request, and no sales pitch. The level of customer service is a rare experience these days. The Parts Department is wonderful. They definitely go that extra mile for you to make sure you have what you are looking for. If they don't have it, they will try and locate it for you. Due to purchasing two campers privately, I have no experience with their Sales or Service departments; however, if they're like their Parts employees, I'm sure you'll have no complaints. My sister bought an RV here and had it delivered about a month ago. While it was delivered one of windows ripped off. A very poor design to mount windows on the outside of a trailer in my opinion. Well, Ricks RV said they would order another one. WELL, when??? and from WHERE AUSTRALIA? It has been a MONTH and STILL no window. How long does my sister have to wait with cardboard taped up for her window to arrive?? How long Ricks RV?? If you sell RVs with windows mounted on the outside why don't YOU STOCK THEM???? Brian's a low pressure sales guy that was very thorough and patient in educating us on our first rv purchase. The service guys are great too from the initial demo when we picked up the popup to getting the wiring redone on the truck. Overall, the entire experience with Ricks RV was positive. We did not in the end buy an RV from Rick's but we did visit on multiple occasions and also negotiated on a model we nearly purchased. The salesperson we worked with, Kevin, was actually a former RV repair guy, so from the beginning we benefited both from his expertise and a good feeling that the company supported its employees with the ability to stay long term and have flexibility around their job and ways to use their expertise. We also noticed that Rick's does appear to preference working with solid brands like Jayco for the right reasons. After visiting about a half dozen local RV dealerships, Rick's was one of our favorites. I would continue to consider them for future purchases. read more

The only reason I chose 1 star is because I can't select zero stars. I wouldn't purchase a coach (or anything for that matter) from Rick's RV if they paid me to. They REFUSED to perform Jayco covered Factory Warranty Work on our brand new coach because we didn't purchase it from them. We purchased the coach in Alabama and experienced issues in Illinois (5 miles down the road from Rick's). The issues we were experiencing were serious enough to prevent us from safely using the coach or traveling. After making us jump through several hoops and providing detailed coach information including VIN #, Rick's said "You aren't a priority customer, drive it back to the dealer in Alabama and have them deal with it!" read more

We recently bought a Jayco travel trailer from Rick's RV and had nothing but a great experience. Our salesperson, Paul, was patient and allowed my wife and I to wander around on our own before meeting back up to discuss details. Upon pickup of our new trailer we had nothing but another great experience. Our orientation went smoothly and was on-time. Financing was easy and quick to get through. Unlike any other experience I have had with RV or car dealers. They even went above and beyond with adjusting and setting up our weight distribution hitch from our old trailer or our new one. Called the parts department looking for a new wheel bearing seal. The woman on the phone in the parts department seemed extremely annoyed that I was looking for the part that was not made for a Jayco trailer and she didn't seem to want to assist in finding the correct part. Granted I was looking for a seal for an older model Palomino trailer, but a little courtesy would have been appreciated, especially since I did buy the trailer from them only a couple months prior. Also for the fact I needed new tires for the trailer and would've most likely just bought everything from them in stop. Oh well, there loss. Will never shop here again. Also, buyer be ware of buying a used camper.. When they mean as is, it truly is as is. It is nothing like buying a used car from a dealer, where they do a multi-point inspection. Purchased a new 2021 Jayco travel trailer. I trusted them to install the recommended brake controller and weight distribution hitch. They installed while we completed paperwork and a tour of our trailer. After we were done with paperwork that's when the problems started. 1st they installed the wrong ball on the hitch and couldn't get it on, an hour later that problem was fixed. 2nd the brake controller fell clean off the dash while they showed us how it works, another 30 minutes to fix that. Now 2 months later I'm getting ready to go on a trip and look over the vehicle. I can't change/check my air filter because they installed the wiring right over the access panel. I called to talk to service about it and they DENIED doing that! After a small discussion about it Mike told me to bring it in. 2 hours of my time again and they finally fixed it. There was no sense of empathy during any of this until I wrote a negative review. I know my experience is one negative of many positive that others have had but there needs to be someone checking on these issues. Currently I would not recommend Rick's RV to anyone. Bought a new Starcraft RV in FL on our way home from vacation. Happy to find out Ricks RV was an authorized dealer and warranty repair shop for Starcraft. we made an appointment with Ricks to repair a few minor warranty issues with our rv. Two weeks out from our appointment we get a call from Ricks RV that they were canceling our appointment and not taking on any new customers. We I asked why (in shock) they said since I did not purchase from them they would not do the warranty work. I asked never? they answered never. WOW I reported this to Starcraft and they called Ricks but they wouldnt budge. This is the third RV I have purchased and Im sure not the last but I will NEVER deal wiyh Ricks RV ever! read more

Had an absolutely terrible experience with one of their salespeople. I was recently at the Chicago Boat and RV Show at McCormick Place checking out some of the RV's that Rick's RV Center had brought out on display. I stepped into one of the higher end model RV's for not even 3 minutes and was examining the features available onboard, when someone came in and told me that I needed to leave because I was "going to break something" and "I wasn't going to buy anything anyway." This was disgusting customer service that left a poor taste in my mouth the rest of my time at the show. Goes to show their salespeople really have no clue what they're doing as I took my business elsewhere and ended up purchasing an RV from a competitor. These guy's are the absolute best in the business.I've been an avid camping guy for 25years plus, I've owned everything from $50.00 tents to 3 different travel trailers and now I'm on my 3rd fifth wheel that sells for over $85,000 that's just amazing and likely one of if not the best 5th wheel Ive ever looked at. I bought a used travel trailer from Ricks RV in the past and it was an awesome experience and in my opinion these guys are the best, Dave, Paul, Jim and even Rick himself have dealt with me every single step of the way from looking at the huge used trailer inventory to making the deals from start to finish. When it comes to parts and accessories, their parts department is second to none, they have tons of cool stuff to look at to repair your existing trailer or just add some fun stuff just because you want to. If your unable to find what your looking for, the parts staff is very knowledgeable and willing to help. Now onto the service area, professional all the way, the staff that works that area from the counter help to the repair area, knowledge is key to any service and these folks seem own the key ring, Ive had service done there from the simplest of repairs to removing and replacing central air conditioning units and removing and replacing the fireplace in my new 5th wheel because of a manufacturing fault at the factory where the fireplace was built, these guys did my central air unit in 1 day while they were in the super busy camping season, I dropped it off in the morning, they checked the problem and had it fixed the same day because I was taking my family out of town that day, customer satisfaction is paramount to Rick's so they got us done, Now that's GREAT SERVICE! Bottom line is this, If your is looking for a great deal on a good used trailer or just want to get something cool and shiny new, Ricks is the only place I'm ever going to do business with bar none!!!! read more

If there were a minus rating that is what I would give this business. My husband and I flew from Ma to Joliet to purchase a "brand new" 2018 Jayco Seneca after speaking with Brian the owners nephew several times on the phone regarding this purchase. We wanted to make sure that this "brand new" RV was everything that we wanted and expected from a "brand new" RV. Brian assured us that it was. We decided to go through with the purchase and put down the required down payment. When we arrived at the airport we were greeted by the sales manager Jim who drove us to the dealership. When we finally got to see what we purchased we were a little less then pleased. The interior was very cheap. The door to the bathroom was chipped along the bottom, there was a huge scratch along the outside of the RV. We had a washer/dryer combo installed in the bedroom closet; the doors don't close all the way. That's minor compared to what happened next. We finalized the paperwork, purchased additional insurance, (thank goodness!). On our way back home about 100 miles in our engine light came on. So we called the roadside assistance as instructed. The RV tech said to continue on didn't seem serious if another light comes on call back, another orange engine light came on and then a red engine light came on and we started to lose power. So we had to pull over. We called roadside assistance again and needed to be towed to the nearest freightliner service center which was 16 miles away. We waited about 6 hours stranded in a parking lot. We froze, we were told that we could use the gas as a main source of heat, well it isn't, we found out later that it is a secondary source. When the tow truck driver arrived hours later he hooked up our brand new RV to the tow truck incorrectly; as this is a Allison Diesel transmission and in order to tow it correctly the driveshaft must be disconnected first. The next day we contacted the Allison headquarters and district manager who confirmed that towing our brand new RV this way could cause serious transmission damage. We contacted Ricks RV and spoke to Brian several times throughout the coarse of the two days we were stuck in Ohio and voiced our concerns regarding the engine lights, the transmission and our conversation with the Allison headquarters district manager. In addition to the engines lights going on, the RV being towed incorrectly, the inside started falling apart. The bedroom door hook broke and the door came flying opened and smashing the wall. The drawers all flew open, some of the drawers are on crooked. The back window came flying open, the metal filters under the microwave came flying off. There were bugs in the folds of the curtain above the cab. The linoleum looks as though it has water stains on it. Metal fragments were everywhere! We relayed all this to Brian and told him this was unacceptable and he apologized and was willing to take the RV back. The engine problem was faulty wiring.Then he said he wouldn't. He told my husband as far as the transmission goes why worry, we have a warrantee anyways. We preceded on our way home and the shifting light (illuminated wrench) came on, my husband again called Brian who said not to worry. My husband was finally able to get it to shift and we made it home. My husband has since checked the engine/transmission fluids and has noticed metallic fragments in that now. My husband has consulted with a locale Freightliner dealer who told us most likely because of the way our RV was towed that this could void our Allison Transmission warrantee. We purchased a new RV so that we wouldn't have any problems and feel safe driving a brand new RV, now we have to worry about engine and transmission failure and putting our family in danger. I feel Rick's RV was well aware of all these problems. We paid over 170,000 for a lemon! read more

Bought a new 2015 Jayco pinnacle in 2015. Extremely poor service after the sale! Started with #1 a cut up windscreen that was damaged by the recliners that had razor sharp edge. Followed by the microwave which just didn't work at all. Took years to get those 2 items replaced which the chairs were never corrected & after 4 microwave ovens & talking to the manufacturer of the microwave it finally was functional after more than a year after the purchase. #2. Every time my 5th wheel was in for any repair it always took months for the completed job other problems always developed wit each service visit. like when I took it to be cleaned and winterized and it turned in to my roof needing to be replaced. Of course it had been in their lot for weeks but it was explained it was my fault and I believed them. I was gullible at that time and trusted their opinion. #3. My leaf spring broke & replaced 2 times because my axel was the wrong size for my 5 th wheel. Jeff the manager always double talked and explained & pretended not knowing their were any problems with the axels. Which brings me to currently. I received a recall letter for the axels which are to be replaced by Jayco at their cost. When the manager at Rick's RV was notified of course he wasn't available so I spoke to his brother which was completely unconcerned & pushed to the service person Marty witch wanted me to crawl under my camper to check on the axels size. Guess you can't trust a recall letter from the company you work for! I was given their usual run around. So in my opinion they are horrible business to deal with and I have no idea how they're still in business. The only thing I can think of is that they sale so much volume they don't need a service teem because they are big time BS'ers and have gotten away with it. When I did talk to Jayco Corporate in Middle Berry Indian they mirrored my statement and said it's not the first time they have had complaints about Rick's RV in Joliet!! We have had a very satisfactory experience with Rick's RV in Joliet. Our salesman, Nick, was knowledgeable and answered our questions truthfully with no high pressure sales tactics. The service department has responded to our requests promptly and reasonably to the few warranty issues that arose. They have quite an on hand inventory and we were able to see several models that fit our need. We had good experience with the sales guy, but that's about it. The finance guy was rushing so fast through everything as there was another couple after us to wait on...when we were done he didn't even shake our hands just went to the other people apologising for the wait as if we were a burden.(we spent a huge chunk of change in this place buying brand new Class C) We have used the service department three times since then, they suck. Not friendly, need to keep the RV for weeks and weeks for simple 15 min to 1 hr repairs. One time decided to wait for the latch on a storage door repair and sat there for 3 hrs!! one time after service the inside was a wreck, cabinets and drawers open and dinette cushions were strewn around etc... Recently called for an estimate on getting our vehicle and RV rigged up for towing. Service gal said she would send me an E-mail with info....never got E-mail, or a call back. There are plenty of places to buy RVs, if you want the whole package RICKS IS NOT the place. The service department sucks, especially the service front desk staff. (also never received any continued correspondence from sales, as I still get follow ups from Campland inquiring on how our RVing experience is going and we didn't even buy from them) read more

We purchased a travel trailer from Ricks in 2016. Jim Freeland helped us with the purchase. Since then we had a few issues with the trailer, but Jim went above and beyond to help us get the problems fixed. It's not like some of those other places where you buy a trailer and then you are on your own after you pull out of the lot. Most recently he totally went to bat for us when our trailer was in the shop due to a wheel problem. He thought we were getting taken advantage of by an auto shop and called them directly to question some of the charges!!! I mean come on who else would do that?! He helped us with our insurance questions and even helped us file the claim. I cannot say enough good things about Jim and Ricks RV. We've had friends buy from Ricks RV recently and they are receiving outstanding customer service as well. They really take care of their customers throughout the life of the trailer. read more

It breaks my heart to have to write a review like this but i feel that i have to. I lost a close friend of mine back in March, he and his wife bought a beautiful motorhome from Ricks RV. I sent them to Ricks to see if they could get a good deal. They purchased a Jayco 36T Precept in April of 2017. My friend passed away in March of 2018. The motorhome only has 2,500 miles on it so i told her to go talk to Rick RV and see if they would help sell the unit for you. She has got nothing but the run around and i got a phone call from her today saying that they wont even return her call. She wasnt asking for them to sell it without a commision, she just wanted some help. I guess thats what big business does. read more
