Best breaded steak sandwich is Chicago hands down. Don't be a fool like me and order the big boy sandwich your first go around, the original sandwich size is plenty (yes even for eaters like you...). The fries are good too. Can't comment on anything else as I have never strayed from the steak sandwich, but if your looking for ambiance or mood setting this place ain't for you. I was very disappointed!! We order all the time from Ricobene's and usually the food is wonderful It arrives hot. Yesterday the food was cold. It was delivered in about 15 mins. Usually it takes about 45 mins. It seemed as though the food was from the day before and possibly heated up with cheese added to it, which was not melted. My online order was #6109823. It is worth the drive and is open late. Very good breaded steak with red sauce and mozz. Peppers too if you like them. This place used to also be a small shack. Has since expanded and plenty of locals and city workers are eating here. To me that always tells you it's good food and not some trendy fly by night place. A+ read more

The breaded steak sandwich is outstanding and like nothing else I've ever had. I usually order the king size with extra red gravy. I'd definitely recommend the extra red gravy if you are planning to save any of it for later and reheat it. I've never ordered anything else, but the pizza usually doesn't look bad. My order came with a side of cole slaw, but when I bit into it, it tasted like soap or detergent was in it! I called the restaurant to let them know, but the deep voiced "female" manager or supervisor that was on duty that night told me that nothing was wrong with it! She didn't apologize for my experience or offer me anything! I was a faithful customer and ordered from them about 4 nights a week. Since this incident I haven't ordered from them at all. Have been going to Ricobene's since it was a one room shack back in the '60s. The pizza is excellent but they don't get the publicity other pizzeria's like Connie's or Uno's or others. In addition to the pizza though, Ricobene's sandwiches are better than any you will find at other pizza places. The breaded steak is a traditional must try. But the beef and sausage combo is even better and comes with fries and can feed at least two people. The pasta and meatball or sausage family dinners are inexpensive, come with garlic bread and will feed a small platoon. Do not miss this iconic Chicago Italian restaurant. Ricobenes is officially my favorite south side joint. I am a huge White Sox fan, and the general environment is beyond amazing with all the fellow fans. My dad and I go here every time we are in the area, as a matter of fact, I biked all the way from my northwest side home here just for a breaded steak sandwich and a bacon and cheddar hot dog. They are extremely generous when it comes to portions of food. I recommend ordering the "breaded steak sandwich", a Ricobenes classic. If you like hot dogs, order a bacon and cheddar dog, I'm a Chicagoan, and I can honestly say this is the best hot dog I've had in the hot dog Capitol of the world. Enjoy! read more

They''re known for the breaded steak sandwich, which is good, but used to be sooo much better back in the day, still good though. Only problem with the breaded steak is sometimes it can be tough. So, i like to get the chicken parm sandwich instead. A breaded chicken breast covered in red sauce, which is a little sweeter than the meat sauce on the breaded steak sandwich, and i add mozzarella cheese. The fries are great, i always order my fries "well done" and they come out nice and crunchy. My favorite thing to get from here is hands down thee deep dish cheese pizza. It's excellent, and i don"t really like deep dish, but this one is good. Great cornmeal crust, good seasoned tomatoes on top of a layer of cheese, and make sure you have them heat it up in the oven! Wings are just ok. Hot dog is just ok. Bacon cheeseburger is really good. read more

This my second time ordering pizza to be delivered ! the first time, everything was ok. the pizza was very good as well as the soup ! this time pizza was delivered and the second we opened the box,a roach was inside running arround !!! we called ricobene's, and to be fair to them, they didn't argue and gave us a choise between refunding the money or exchange the pizza. we opted for refund ! read more

I have been going to RIcobenes since the early 1980's. It was always my first choice of places to take out of towners to have the best food Chicago offers. My last two visits, the food quality seemed to be lacking. Even my wife, who eats like a bird noticed that the breaded steak sandwich was much smaller. The sandwiches were at room temp and the Pepperoni pizza slice my daughter ordered did not come from under the heat lamps but from a bin on top of the pizza oven. Food is good but service is crap! I ordered online delivery and was told it'd be at my house in roughly 30 mins. I didnt think much of it at the time but when 30 mins came and went I called and asked where my food was. I was told it'd be there shortly, that they were having some sort of event or something. So I waited another 30 mins and still no food. When I called again the lady informed me that it was for pick up (I know I put delivery, my confirmation email said so) and when I asked why then did the previous lady tell me my food would be here she got real snotty and told me to come to the restaurant and look for myself. Um. Excuse me. I don't think so. So I told her to cancel my order which she also had a snotty remark for and preceded to cut me off when I tried to talk and damn near hung up on me. Ive noticed recently the type of people they hire and I assume if your a local druggie/teen idiot you fit the bill. Despite the fact that I LOVE their Chicken Vesuvio and pizza I wont be going back. Worse customer service ever. Ordered for delivery on a Monday night, the employee said it would be there within the hour. 1hr 20mins later, called to find out the food was the next up for delivery - no apologies. Finally after waiting a total of 1hr 45 mins, call to find out it still wasn't on it way. Excuse was "we're busy." When I said we wanted to cancel, and they should have called to let us know it was going to be a 2hr wait - a simple ok response. Don't know how these guys stay in business. read more

After reading the reviews and having no good options around the South Loop Hotel we we're excited to try Ricobenes. It was very busy when we got there so we thought we had hit it Right. Wrong!! My husband got the Eggplant Parmesan sandwich. He said it was awful...overcooked and impossible to eat as a sandwich. Trying to cut it meant cutting trough the wrapping. I got the mosticcoli and meatballs and it was no better. No real flavor to the sauce or the meatballs at all and the pasta was overcooked. Will not go back. read more

Terrible customer service. Ordered delivery at 1:16pm was delivered at 2:38pm on a Thursday. When I called to ask about our delivery the manager Gina was non apologetic instead said "that's how long delivery usually takes" . I'm so glad we have "Freddies" in the neighborhood they're customer service is great. Never had to post anything negative about a business before in fact this is my first post ever on Yelp ! I've been a customer of both Freddies and Ricobenes for twenty something years customer service are polar opposites. read more

the person below me doesn't know what she is talking about. so..when you order from work are you dieing of hunger and have you already eaten your fingers? and if it ALWAYS takes more than 20 minutes, then why do you dumbasses come in after twenty minutes. here's an idea...wait an extra 10 minutes. or will your fingers not tide you over long enough? if the food wasn't ready when you arrived that probably meant it wasn't cooked yet. so...how in the world could it be room temperature? and it isn't a supposed spicy red sauce, it's a marinara sauce. and if you ask me, ragu isn't bad. seriously, if the prices are way too high for the quality why do you and your co-workers keep ordering from there? take your whiney ass somewhere else. ricobene's has great food, and like every other restaurant there is human error. the food can't always be ready on time or piping hot. and if you don't like it, don't eat there! read more

The food was okay. The service was subpar at best. I am very easy to please. I asked for a third ice tea, and was told by the old lady that I was only allowed one free refill. On ice tea. Really. I've ordered from Ricobenes before but never online. We ordered our food through their website around 4pm and the estimated arrival time was 5:15. Well the time came and went and the food hadn't arrived yet. I called the location and they told me the driver would be here any minute. Well when the driver did show up around 5:35 the food was on the verge of being cold... fries, burger and all.... plus no condiments in the bag... horrible service and dissapointment delivery quality. read more

It was the worst food I have ever tried in my entire life. Ravioli were soggy and bland. Raviolis where boxed, not fresh made, the meat ones where disgusting and the cheese ones... Well they don't even know the cheeses in it. The crust of the pizza was awful, and don't even mention the toppings in it. Service was a 3 of 10. If you come to Chicago don't try this place. Ricobnes is not the same as it used to be although the same GM has been running this facility for 22 years. Debbie, one of the employees who has worked for Ricobene's off and on for 19 years is the rudest and most ignorant person I've ever encountered when dealing with Bridgeport fast food joints. She is rude and liar. I've complained to the GM so we will see if anyone gives a hoot about the way they treat there customers. When my food order arrived after 1 and 1/2 hours delivery the bag was DUNKED in grease. Literally the bag was filled with grease and this old little guy hands me the bag thinking it was okay. What a joke. I would not give any stars but had to choose one in order to post this. DO NOT GO THERE!! DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!!! Go to Manja Frescas on Archer, Punky's, Connnies, or Freddies BUT NOT RICOBENES. THe breaded sandwich is far more better at Manja Frescas anyway. read more
