Even on a busy day, there are plenty of tables to choose from. They also have a well ventilated indoor area. In terms of menu variety, the kitchen serves up a good mix of high-quality bar food along with a few unexpected additions such as the Ribeye Gyro which was honestly phenomenal. Drink-wise, there is a large selection of beers to choose from as well as a few non-beer options such as cider. The bar is also well-equipped for some cocktails. Overall, I'd be here all the time if it were more conveniently located. The staff are all very welcoming / friendly and it's a great space to hang with friends, have some drinks, enjoy (unexpectedly amazing) food, and play some games.

My expectations for the food at a place like this are usually pretty low, but what we had here was very good! You can rarely go wrong with a big soft pretzel, and the one here was very good. We also had the chicken nachos. I'm generally not a big nachos fan, but these were better than most because it didn't have the thick caked on down cheese like a lot of places do. We also had the buffalo chicken hoagie, which was quite tasty!

And fortunately, I found one that was perfectly right and proper! Before entering, Right and Proper had me won over with their outdoor mural paying homage to Duke Ellington and a who's who of local DC jazz heroes. Upon entering, I was even more blown away by their elaborate and wild indoor murals, especially the dog & cat bathroom art, and the EPIC animal battle centerpiece! Since I came towards the end of their night after the Brewers pizza party at Andy's Pizza, I wasn't particularly hungry. But I did make note of their cheese counter, where you could purchase offerings like Midnight Moon, Willoughby, and Morbier by the plate or to go by the pound. They also had a good selection of handhelds, appetizers, dinner, and brunch offerings. However, the best thing might be that, during the unpredictable government shutdown, they had the option to pay a meal or a beer forward to a neighbor in need. I also managed to enjoy their Brussel sprouts that delivered a pleasant umami bomb with its sweet Thai chili sauce and crushed peanuts. For beers, they had a right and proper mix that went beyond the IPA overload, while also having good ones like their Big Tomorrow west coast IPA. Their flights came at a reasonable price and allowed me to enjoy offerings like their Haxan robust porter, Senate Maerzen Marzen Oktoberfest style ale, and Super Carina Italian Pilsner. Factor in all of the above and a good selection of brewery games and table spaces, and they had everything I look for in a solid brewery!

I went with the Thai Chicken Wings and my friend had the Burger. Both were perfectly fine "pub grub"--solid options if you're hungry while grabbing a drink, even if they didn't necessarily steal the show. They're reliable, standard bites that pair well with their tap list. The Service: This is where Right Proper really shines. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, which is exactly what you want in a local haunt. You never feel rushed, and the service keeps the good vibes going. While the food was a bit middle-of-the-road for us this time, the excellent service and neighborhood feel make it a place I'll keep coming back to. It's a great spot to catch up with friends, enjoy a unique house beer, and soak in the local energy.

The occasion then was happy hour and I recall having a great time, but I never actually wrote a review. While out celebrating for my birthday, I walked by and I saw that they have all night happy hour on Mondays. And much to my joy, it was Monday, so after dinner my girlfriend and I came back and stopped in. A lot of places tend to be closed on Mondays, and don't even think about looking for a happy hour late at night! As I said earlier, the place is divy, but the staff are really nice and they know how to make their drinks. I lost track of how many tequila shots I had, but we had a great time and I couldn't have thought of him or chill way to bring in my birthday. I am not sure exactly when I'm coming back, but it is definitely going to stay in my rotation of bars when the time seems appropriate. By the way, happy hour specials include both drinks and food.

Service was good from this eclectic bunch of waitstaff, but it was pleasant and efficient. The fried pickle spears were not breaded enough, but the remoulade dipping sauce was a nice change from the typical ranch dressing. Our "standard" burgers were char-grilled, greasy and perfectly seasoned. The double fried fries were crispy and tasty. I keep coming here each weekend, hoping the experience changes but it's always terrible…read more I keep getting the same waiter, a gentleman with glasses, and he's so dismissive and snotty it makes it hard to enjoy treating myself. I genuinely believe that because there is an automatic 20% gratuity added that he does the absolute least in being helpful. He served me cold Irish coffee today and I asked why it was cold and he disappeared to the back without a word and when he came back I asked again why, thinking he didn't hear me, and he dismissively said he was brewing more and it was cold because of thermal dynamics. He never once said "I'm so sorry it was cold--I am happy to brew more" it was just silence and then dismissiveness, for no good reason. Also he was at the table up front folding napkins and a customer came in asking for a to-go order and he told them to look in the red box for it (I guess that's a heating station?) so weird and rude when he himself should have gotten up to assist the gentleman and look in the box himself for him. Finally I was disappointed recently when I asked for my app and pizza to come out separately (shouldn't even have to be said of course) and when they came out at the same time he dismissively said "Oh so the kitchen was too efficient?" Very difficult and very not okay to have to deal with this as a paying customer who is just looking for a nice night/brunch out.

And, this salad was not listed under the 'sides' but under the salad section. I added the roasted chicken so the salad was $16.50 and hardly came close to filling me up. Do better--its not gonna break the bank to add more of the ingredients. Ya just gotta try harder. No reason to go back to this place. Maybe the pizza is better. PLUS, after looking at my bill I see that 20% tip was automatically added but no paper bill was presented for me to see this and the server mentioned nothing. The little 'Toast' machine presented to me had the option to specify a tip which many would believe implies that no tip was automatically added, and again the server said nothing. People are getting sick of this. LAST TIME HERE!!!!
