I ended up getting the Chicken Empanada Salad and the Hongos empanada after deciding that I probably should be a little healthy. The Hongos empanada is a great vegan option with a delicious filling of wild mushrooms. However, the dough itself was undercooked, and the chimichurri sauce I picked to go with the empanada was an extra 50 cents and didn't really enhance the flavor of the empanada. The chicken empanada salad was pretty yummy and had good flavors. I only wish that the lady at the counter told me that the salad dressing is pretty much diluted chimichurri, so that I didn't have to buy another sauce on the side. Rincón Argentino is a must for anyone living in or passing through Boulder. Consistently the best empanadas I've had (though I haven't been to South America), and they have soooo many varieties! If you live nearby, try as many of them as you can! Be sure to try the different sauces too! Also, there are plenty of options for vegetarians: The mushroom (hongos), spinach (espinaca), corn (choclos) are all amazing, and they recently included a vegan option with beyond meat! They also apparently have gluten-free options, because they're nice people. Their prices are super reasonable, the staff is very friendly, and it's also a nice location. I recommend getting three empanadas, which is a hearty meal for me. Though my work regularly gets catering from Rincón and one week not as many people were in town so I think I ate seven! Great empanadas! Just don't be in a hurry. I went here with some coworkers on a Friday for lunch. We got there around 11:05, right after they opened, and ordered a few minutes later. I got three, the spicy ground beef, chicken chorizo, and spicy chicken. The empanadas were great, with spicy ground beef being my favorite of the three. The chimichurri salsa was wonderfully garlicky and one of the more authentic versions I've tried. The roja salsa was spicy in all the right ways. It was a wonderful experience! The only reason I'm voting 4 stars instead of 5 is the wait was quite long. It took over twenty minutes to get our food, and there was only five of us (one of whom ordered a sandwich). Ground beef empanada: very good. Just a hint of sweetness but not too much. Excellent crust. Spicy ground beef empanada: very good with a hint of spiciness. Did I say that the crust is excellent? Spicy chicken choclo: no idea what this was but best to stay away from this. The chicken was dry and unseasoned. The ingredients just didn't mesh together. Sweet trio: caramel and chocolate were good. The passion fruit, not so much. Just a note. This place has indoor and outdoor seating. We shared four empanadas. One was ham and cheese (love the cheese), one was Parmesan garlic tomatoes (the Parmesan was so good), one was ground beef (pretty tasty but reminded me of a taco), and the last one was spicy steak (flavorful). The best part about the empanadas was the actual breading. It was flaky and the perfect texture. Normally I find empanadas have too much bread and the bread is hard. The negative part is they are tiny!!! Especially for $5 each! I'd have to eat like 5 to be at minimum full, and I'm 98 lbs. The dulce de Leche ice cream tasted different than what I've tried before. They even have authentic Yerba ;) Each type has their own special fold for identification purposes. Honestly, I could eat them all. ;) My favorites are the spicy steak and the Patagonia. I was excited to try this place after looking at the reviews. I was pretty disappointed. So, I have never had Argentinian empanadas. So maybe I didn't know what to expect. I thought it was going to be a crust stuffed with fillings and folded in half and sealed-like a calzone It was not. It was more like an open crust with the stuffing Inserted from the top. They were about the size of a cupcake. I'm not one of those big ones, just like a normal cupcake. We had a mushroom empanada, a corn empanada, and a side salad. The corn empanada was really good. It was order out to support our community night (we've had several of those lately), and once again we were not disappointed in the empanadas. Our favorite is the Choclo Empanada with Chimichurri Sauce. So fresh and even getting takeout, they were hot when we got home. The mushroom was good, just seemed like it needed something else? It was all mushroom, so a great vegetarian choice as well as the Choclo - the Choclo just had more going on and you got a great explosion of flavors when biting into it. I also had the Pollo Empanada which I did not have to share as my family doesn't like olives, but I thought the green olives in this empanada made the whole thing "pop" when taking a bite. Great place to try really good empanadas. My husband and I ordered steak, cheese, chicken and cheese/ham empanadas. All of them were really good. That recent visit was on Sunday April 6th 2014. Time was about 13:17hrs. Man, at that hour, this TINY establishment is jam packed with other patrons alike. YES, they have like a "Pizza-Like" Oven in this establishment. Yes, you can order at the Counter, and they will send your order to where you are seating. There are also OUTSIDE Seating Areas aka something like a Patio. They offer Gluten Free and Vegetarian items on certain Empanadas and Sandwiches. After I ordered the Empanadas TO GO, I overheard the conversation from the staffs to another patron that You CAN ORDER The FROZEN Empanadas, and baked/fried at home. *SIGH* I should have known those details before I order the Empanadas. *Double SIGH*.. My Bad. I waited for abit, say between 5 to 10 minutes for my Empanadas TO GO to be ready. When I reached home, I shared the Empanadas with Hubs. In conclusion it was JUST OK Empanadas. Maybe SLIGHLTY PRICEY for some since this establishment is located in BOULDER, CO. Each Empanadas Piece was $3.20. Great outdoor seating and a nice view. It seems silly but the tree out front on their patio is gorgeous in the fall and spring, shade in the summer and has nice lights in the winter. We order from them almost weekly and they are rather large orders. I sometimes have a bad habit of waiting until the last minute and the ALWAYS accommodate me no matter how much we order. They are friendly, the empanadas (every type) are fresh, well made, and hot when they arrive.
