This is a ghost kitchen type of set up where it's take out only (unless you want to sit outdoors). The service was super fast and the online ordering process was very easy. They do have deals available through their loyalty program and app. Unfortunately the biscuits were really dry for my taste. I found myself choking them down. The experience was a big better with a biscuit sandwich with plenty of sauce on it. The righteous chicken biscuit is just good. It's just really good consistently. I love the pickles and the boom boom sauce. The rewards program is a really nice bonus. My kids love these sandwiches. We got take out and it was all great. Ready on time for easy pick up, everything from the grits to the biscuits and eggs we delicious and cooked to order. For take out it's five stars. This place is absolutely wonderful. There was basically nothing I could complain about except for lack of seating. The store offers an ordering tablet at the front of the store, as well as these heated containers for mobile orders that can be picked up at a later time. The prices here are incredibly competitive compared to other biscuit places. For the amount of food that you are getting at the price point rise offers, it is very worth it. Disappointing and greasy. You order using an app or a terminal, and have essentially no direct interaction with the staff. We got two breakfast biscuits: bacon, fried egg, and cheddar, and sausage, scrambled egg and cheddar. Both were large enough that a single biscuit is a full breakfast. The bacon had formerly been crispy, but had obviously been sitting for a while and been reheated. The texture was decidedly chewy. The sausage was like a hamburger, perfectly round and without great flavor, cooked but not browned (sausage really should have a crispy outside). The eggs were fine in both biscuits. The biscuits themselves were large, flat and very greasy, clearly made in a mold. I won't be going back. I wish there were more indoor seating (there's ~ 4 stools and two small countertops). I had a great experience here! Granted, we walked ~20 min in sweltering heat plus a short but stressful/confusing bus commute, so at that point we just wanted to eat. They have an ice/water dispenser on the side where they put orders, which was a lifesaver after our trek. However, the indoor area feels quite warm for an indoor area, which is especially strange when you consider that they work with biscuit dough. The biscuits were flaky and not dry or gummy. I got the cheddar biscuit with righteous chicken. Though the hard chunks of cheddar surprised me a bit, I loved the flavor it added to a simple dish. They had my order out within a few minutes, which great. For a donut and biscuit sandwich, I made it just under $10. read more

Decided to try this for breakfast when in town. Walked in and was immediately hit with a wonderful food smell. They have many options for breakfast. Decided on The Build. One was on a blueberry biscuit with sausage and a scrambled egg. The other was a buttermilk biscuit with sausage and a scrambled egg also. The wait was not long . I purchased a cup of coffee to go with my breakfast- self serve. The biscuit looked divine and the egg was not runny ( I usually order it scrambled dry) . It was warm and flaky with great flavor and a glaze on it like a donut and just a few blueberries in it . The coffee was a let down , it was not great . The buttermilk biscuit also had great flavor and texture, no glaze on it though. Also ordered was a chocolate glazed donut ; perfect texture, wonderful flavor and the chocolate was tasty. The food was delicious and everything was hot and fresh! Service was fast. It was nice, quiet, added relaxing. I really enjoyed the food!

I was running errands with friends and we decided we were starving but we also had a big dinner planned so this was the perfect lunch spot. I think ordering via an app would make more sense then me and my friends standing around figuring out what we wanted for our biscuit lunch, then punching it into their screen and then picking it up from the little delivery cubby. Two of us got the avocado toast biscuit which was very tasty. And my other friend got just a biscuit with a side of jelly. Plus we ordered cheddar tots (ok) and the fried okra (delicious). Good food, friendly service, and easy ordering. As you walk in, they have a big board of all the different options. You order and pay on a touchscreen TV which is actually really easy to use it's got pictures and the name of what you want you can add or subtract your sauces, toppings, etc. (Pay by card, they don't take cash). I usually get a sandwich and alternate between a biscuit sandwich and a potato bun sandwich. My favorites are their chicken sandwiches. The Nashville Hot is very good as well as their signature "Righteous Chicken". I also really like their fried green tomato and pimento cheese. Parents were in town so we went here at 10:30AM since we were too hungry to wait until 11AM which is the time most restaurants open. We ordered the spicy chickaboom and bacon and pimento cheese chicken biscuit. The Spicy chickaboom has a lot more pickled jalapeños than expected which sort of overpowered the taste of the fried chicken. I ended up taking out half of the jalapeños. The bacon and pimento cheese biscuit was pretty good but the bacon was a bit too crunchy and there were only two pieces. I definitely would not mind just trying a plain fried chicken biscuit since the chicken was just fried and was hot to taste. We also ordered a glaze donut and we were all disappointed with the size. I drive past pretty much every day and I finally decided to give Rise a shot. It turns out I've been missing out! This place is pure greatness. I've been twice in the past 3 days. It's a cute little spot. You can easily park in the shopping center lot. They have a handful of patio tables, which is where most people sit. But I do wish there was more seating inside. I'm in love with their Avocado Toast*. It isn't really toast at all, but rather a biscuit with guac on both halves, tomato, crispy onions, a fried egg, and Boom Boom sauce. Please hold while we take a moment to appreciate the Boom: this sauce is like Big Mac Special Sauce meets chipotle mayo with an extra kick, sprinkled with fairy dust (because there's definitely something magical happening here). I mean, can a girl get a bottle?? Also, I've never been a biscuit lover (I know, I know, Bless my Northeastern heart.) I've always found them to be too bready and overwhelming when made into a sandwich. HOWEVER, Rise has managed to master the bready:buttery ratio that makes their biscuits perfect bookends for a breakfast sandwich. My mom has had their Southern chicken biscuit and sausage biscuits and has thoroughly enjoyed both. But she RAVES about the coffee. Popped into Rise after a morning walk - got the classic Southern chicken biscuit and cheer wine donut ( when in Carolina!). Their ordering process was through a tablet...the UI was a bit confusing, but after a bit, I figured out. Great: the biscuit was really good - fresh, warm, and buttery and the fried chicken was juicy and hot! Okay: Cheerwine donut did not have that cherry flavoring known from Cheerwine. Vegan alert - vegan sausage doesn't have dairy although the vegan chicken has dairy because of butter. French fries are an option. The seasoning is similar to Bojangles with Cajun style toppings. Attention those with dairy allergies - anything battered or the biscuits all have milk. You can most certainly get options for drinks such as juice or coffee. Parking is not location in front of the building. You might have to risk slipping in the ice. Service is OUTSTANDING. I was relieved that Kenita was the one who helped me during my visit. read more

A great selection of donuts, ok coffee, update: biscuits are on par with Hardee's now, see attached picture. Easily, without question, the best apple fritter I've ever had anywhere. No comparison. Update: Service has slipped significantly since opening, often having one person intermittently operating one of the two terminals during busy hours. Self-serve kiosk is often off. May be poor division of labor or an attempt to not make the kitchen feel overwhelmed, but it's an obvious downturn in speed and attitude of service. Staff seems more concerned with convincing the customers holding the door open to close it than, than taking and serving orders. Layout off the coffee service makes no sense. Too common to have to try to convince others to move so you can add coffee and cream. Ah well, it was good while it lasted. Update: Just go to Hardee's as this point. I ordered the egg and cheese biscuit, which surprisingly is not featured on the menu but has to be customized because the featured items all include meat, which was a bit of a let down and inconvenience. The prices are moderately reasonable. Ordering is done via a kiosk and food is delivered to a shelf in effort to minimize human to human contact and enforce social distancing, which was great. I have been going to Rise since the one at Southpoint in Durham opened. They were really great, creative and worth the effort. I just went to the one in Carrboro and ordered my old standby--Apple fritters. I was SO disappointed because the ones I got were, at best, just fritters. There were no deferrable apples! What a loss franchisement has wrought! They should not have standardized the apples right out! The mixture of doughnuts and cinnamon bisCuit was good but everything was expensive. Delicious biscuit breakfast sandwiches that are fluffy and flavorful. The avocado toast is a solid veggie option. The crunch and spice on top really add something to it. It's a limited seating location and seems more like a fast food to go type place. Their donuts were average and I wouldn't go out of my way to have one again.
