Unfortunately the overall experience was Meh!!! This past weekend my family and I decided to give this spot a chance. We had a taste for their street corn and had heard good things about the place, unfortunately to our surprise they didn't have corn and because of it being a weekend could not service a party with children. It would have been nice if this was posted on their site or on google but we decided to order carry out nonetheless. The portion were lacking and you don't get what you are paying for and it would have been worth it if the taste were authentic but another disappointment. What an awesome spot! Came in for a quick bite to eat for lunch and I loved it! I wouldn't come with too many people at lunch because there isn't a lot of seating but at 5pm they have a rooftop with more seating and a full bar. I definitely want to come back to check it out! Big shout out to the really nice server. He answered all my questions with a smile and made the experience great. Shrimp bowl - 5/5. I practically inhaled my food it was so good! The shrimp were large and marinated to perfection. I loved the rice and beans that came on the bowl. It was a great combination with the shrimp and cabbage on top. I had the regular salsa and it had a lovely roasted flavor. Not spicy to my taste buds so I may try the spicy salsa next time. My friends had the barría tacos and really enjoyed them. Ordered some tacos to go, waited at the restaurant to pick them up. Asked for some water as there was a water dispenser which was empty, was informed that there's no free water, I would have to buy a bottle of water or soda. What is the point of having a water dispenser sitting there if you aren't going to refill it for customers? The birria tacos were lacking flavor and the meat was very chewy, very over cooked. The food here is pretty good but the service is awful. I walked there for a late dinner because there posted hours at they're open till 10:30-11pm. It was 8:45pm and they told me they were closed. This is the 3rd time I've tried to go and they're just conveniently closed. I would say don't bother with them. They are not reliable. Nom. Delicious Nom. Streamlined menu, but plenty of tasty taco options. Fast-casual eat-in option downstairs, or you can hit the rooftop, El Techo, for more formal seated dining, including a more extensive brunch menu. Downstairs, you pick pick a bowl or flour or corn tortillas, pick from eight different protein options, and then pick a sauce from four different options with varying heat. Corn tortillas are how I roll. See what I did there? Anyway, for fillings, I've tried the OG, which is a slightly spicy beef, and the rib, which is seasoned pulled pork. Big thumbs up for both. They're topped with crisp shredded cabbage and onions, and tomatoes. I got the verde sauce, which comes on the side, so you can amp up the flavor to your liking. It's not an assembly line like Chipotle, and the flavors seem a lot more authentic than any of the chains. A side of chips and guac is $2. I wish the guac portion was bigger as it's definitely a small single serve, but it's fresh and tasty. No salsa bar here, and no salsa side option--which speaks to the authenticity of the place instead of pandering to American perceptions of Mexican food. You can order sour cream as a side item, but there's no gringo sprinkle of cheese on top of the tacos, and that's a good thing. There is a curious mac and cheese bites option on the menu...not sure what's going on there. There are also some rib and pupusa options, but I always go for the tacos. It's hard to branch out to try something new when you always enjoy the same thing so much. Aside from water, the drink options are sodas, including a Coke fountain and some Jarritos options. Beautiful rooftop restaurant that isn't made for rain and has pretty lackluster vegan options. I got the avocado taco, veggie taco, and mango mocktail. The avocado taco tasted like it was made with overly ripe avocado and didn't have much flavor. The veggie taco was soggy and bland. The handmade tortillas were too thick. And the mango mocktail was too sweet and not worth $8. At one point, it started pouring and rain was dropping through the makeshift roof. I stopped by on a beautiful Friday night to check out El Techo. By 900 they were so busy that we had to wait a bit so my friend and I grabbed tacos downstairs. I had The OG and yucca. The chimichurri sauce was so good! I love hot sauces and the loco was was literally loco. I briefly met Louie the owner when grabbing a cup of water. Not only was he super friendly, but it was the best tasting water lol. Like a melted glacier. After tacos the door man remembered us from waiting earlier and we finally got upstairs. The vibes. House music. Aesthetic. Crowd. Were beautiful! I had a spicy passion fruit margarita. The chili lime rim gave me life. The mojito my friend ordered was beautiful but a lil sweet for my taste. Ever since my husband and I tried Rito Loco at Yelp's Jingle Wheel Rock, his nightly conversations with me have centered around three things: 1) how mad he is that he only got second place in his fantasy football league, 2) DC sports, and 3) tacos...but more specifically Rito Loco's tacos. He hyped it up so much that I decided to go back for a refresher after the Miracle on Seventh Street Mania. I decided to go for the 3 for $10 which was an awesome and filling meal. 1) OG Beef - This is the traditional ground beef soft tacos I grew up with, only so much better. I could literally eat a hundred of these and die happy. These in particular are the ones that the hubster can't stop dreaming about. 2) Mojito Chicken - Out of all three these are my least favorite but I think it's a preference thing. I'm just not a fan of pulled chicken it's too squishy for my taste. That being said my friends devoured this. It had a very light and fresh flavor. 3) Caribbean Fish - My favorite type of fish taco -- lightly grilled (none of that breaded stuff), and seasoned with spices. And for all you Yelpers reading this, DO NOT forget to check in because you get a free taco. Can you believe I took the Yelp App off my phone for a while, thank goodness I added it back. Nonetheless, I ended up getting 3 tacos for $9 Look At God!!! I got a little help from one of the locals and went with the rib, carne asada, and the fish taco. Now I was a little hesitant to get the carne asada cause you know all carne asada isn't created equal. If you get the wrong carne asada you can end up with lock jaw lol. This carne asada was sooo tender and sooo flavorful. Honestly, I want to go back and get 3 carne asada tacos. Yes the flavor is that serious. Kinda reminds me a bit of the beef flavor packet in the ramen noodles (in a good way). They also give you tortilla chips. Now I saw them pour them out the bag, but what I didn't see was the brand; because if I did I'd be at Giant picking them up. Rito Loco is another fast casual burrito eatery. There are so many around, why go to this one? There is a rewards program with Belly. They have a Yelp check-in bonus, like a free taco. They are open late (midnight) during the week, and even later on the weekends. They have breakfast. They make your food in front of you. They are a local business. After just one visit, that's all I can say to convince you. After that, there's nothing surprisingly delicious or not delicious. Standard fare for tacos (corn or flour), bowls, salad option or burrito. The price is fair. The amount of food is good. The food is freshly prepared, but the ingredients that are cooked have been pre-cooked, so, they can be overdone. Mild, medium or hot sauce is your choice. A handful of chips accompany your order. Pay more for guacamole, which happens to be slightly too salty for me here. The food is not bad. There are yuca fries and avocado fries, though, so that is unique and fun, compared to most other eateries of this type. The seating is in short supply in this small eatery, but, you can eat along the wall or against the front window. The staff here leaves something to be desired. They try, and they are nice. However, if I am the only person there, and I tell you my order, and you ask about it, how is it that it is still possible to mess up my order? Just wondering aloud. So, this says to me: be a hawk when your order is slightly different or particular compared to the normal menu item. That's all. If so, you will be fine. Enjoyed everything about this place. The customer service was unbelievable. I was meeting a couple of friends here, and the guy at the front offered me chips and a drink while I wait. The environment is nice and creative. There was a decent amount of seating, but I'd imagine it'd get pretty packed around 5/6. I ordered the quinoa bowl, my friend ordered the rice bowl, and another friend ordered the burrito. We all really enjoyed our food. It was a huge portion, all of us were full, I even took some home. The mojito chicken is marinated so well! Toward the end, the guy offered us the fruit ritos, which were AMAZING. They had fruit, granola, and cinnamon inside the tortilla, I never thought this would taste good, but we LOVED it. I'll definitely be back! Aesthetically looks good. Taste-wise was still decent and while the flavors are there, they aren't as apparent as I'd expect. Nice crust on the outer part of the tortilla although it did leak somewhat. The salsa verde was good as well. For the price, I wish the burrito was bigger. Good balance of meat, cheese, veggies, etc inside the burrito. Came with beans and rice which I always appreciate and which tasted fine on their own but they mixed well with my remaining salsa verde. Rito Loco is fine if you need something quick and are craving Mexican. But I hope that never happens to me because it's pretty subpar - I'll walk the extra bit to chipotle. OG is dry and pretty flavorless. Pair this with a rice bowl and you get something that you could make at home without trying. Rib is decent tasting, and was good in the burrito. No rice in this and they don't ask you what toppings you'd like (same goes with all orders here, you have to be proactive). Overall it's a fine tasting burrito, but one much smaller than what you'd get a chipotle and slightly more expensive. Also tried a chicken taco which was fine but honestly don't remember much about it if that says anything. I liked the "chimichurri" salsa, the other two we tried were ok (verde and spicy). After wanting to come in I finally gave in to check out this Mexican spot. Perhaps it is because it was a Sunday night and the end of the week fatigue hitting the employees but this was not what I expected from word of mouth and reviews. Burrito came out soggy and the tortilla ripped because of it. My burrito basically became a borderline soup. I also ordered the avocado fries and was not impressed. It's probably rare for a restaurant to call a customer a "liar" and "stupid," so this one's a first. Weeks ago, I wanted to mention to the owner that utility work they did on the sidewalk left it a trip hazard. The owner wasn't there when I picked up and order, so wanted to leave my phone number. The guy behind the counter at the time, though, was dismissive and suggested that the complaint would go into the circular file. I eventually spoke to the owner, Louie, who apologized and explained the employee was having a rough time. I decided to give Rito Loco a second chance at some point. Today, I returned to pick up an order. Right away, I was questioned by the same employee if I were the one who got him in trouble with his boss. I said, yes, I had made a complaint. I was then yelled at -- in front of other employees and customers -- for being a "liar," "rude" and "stupid." I'm not kidding -- yelled at. I said that, having once worked in food service, I wouldn't have spoken to a customer like this on my worst day (and believe me, some customers were awful). Yet, he doubled down and defending his berating, so I walked out. These guys have made decent food and I've been a paying customer for years, but this was the last straw. Outright disdain and hostility toward your customers is no way to run a business. I'm sure Rito Loco will respond and say again that I'm a liar, but whatever. Eh, i think they've gone downhill since El Techo took over their menu. The OG burrito used to be legitimately spicy, now, the spice is gone.

Stumbled upon this gem during the major power outage in DC last weekend (luckily they still had power!). I ordered two tacos: marinated chicken and tilapia. The servings were HUGE and the medium sauce was quite tasty. The tilapia had a good flavor, and the chicken was nice and moist. It wasn't quite "knock your socks off" good, but it was definitely satisfying! I did really like how they toast the tortillas with cheese so it's almost like a half quesadilla half taco combination :) read more

I'm sad to add to the chorus of reviews that Rito has gone downhill, but it's true. The guac is flavorless and the Ritos are half the size, and bland. Ingredients taste less flavorful and less fresh than they did this summer 2021 and before. Stale chips and missing sides are common now and they never used to be. Great place for after a night out with friends, the food smelled great and drew me into the restaurant. I got the Rito with the OG meat which is basically ground beef that is kind of dry. The burrito felt like it was 30% tortilla. You're paying about $10 for a burrito that's half the size of what you'd get at chipotle. The ingredients themselves weren't that fresh, and they had run out of certain toppings that night. And it comes with chips with your choice of salsa. I got the chimichurri and it was really good, probably the highlight of the meal. The space itself is cramped which is understandable given the DC costs, but I was confused about where to wait in line and no one directed me, so a few people had gone ahead of me before I realized where I was supposed to order (it's at the cash register, not the counter). Overall I'm not sure I'd come back, but it was convenient to have this open late at night after hanging out with my friends. I'm a big fan of the Rito Loco food truck but I could never find them to get a regular fix, so I was excited to learn they've opened a permanent location which means whenever I want one of their burritos, I don't have to track down a place that is constantly moving. Everything I liked about the food truck I like about the permanent location. Went with the rib rito, the meat was well seasoned, tangy with a nice little kick of heat. The portion size was decent, seemed smaller than the truck version but still feeling. Staff is friendly and quick with the service. Grabbed the Rib Rito (Baby back ribs twice seasoned in our 15 spice dry rub, then braised, for 48 hours and wrapped with a four-cheese blend and our homemade pico de Gallo and served with tortilla chips) via UberEats today for lunch... First time ordering Uber Eats, so when I realized the meals are sitting in an uber until ordered (not freshly made) I wasn't upset, it makes sense! And it helps for quick delivery (5mins) The Rib Rito was still warm so I popped in the microwave for a bit, sliced in and went to work. The ribs are by far the best I've ever tasted. The meat was sweet, well seasoned and TENDER. It was also very filing. I subtracted 2 stars for 2 reasons - first, the chips were definitly bottom of the bag pieces, nothing whole or grip worth to dip into the salsa. second, the dips came in x-small containers and only one of each kind.
