Food was very bad. Fish was not fresh and had a bad smell when served. I ordered cioppino because we were told that the catch of the day (snapper) was just delivered, but it tasted funny. Also, it took a very long time to prepare our order. Our server could not answer our questions about the types of fish and what were included in each order. Upfront I explained to the server I had a gluten allergy and that it might be difficult. She gives me options. I ordered one and was then told they couldn't make it for me, citing a shortage of mushrooms (that they were still offering those ordering steak). I ordered something else that I was told was gluten free and then received something missing ingredients. It was not a good meal. Someone asked me about my experience and I shared with them, only to be charged for the meal minus an insulting 20% when I didn't eat more than that portion of the meal. First time to River & Fort and it was everything I hoped for. The location is in a great spot across from the fort in Saint Augustine so parking was easy. We went with some friends and started out with some drinks. I ordered a cocktail GUN POWDER & GUAVA which is Mezcal Ojo de Tigre, Leblon Cachaca, Guava Syrup, Peach and Lime Juice. A delicious drink! For an appetizer I ordered the French onion soup also very good. For the entree my wife ordered Fisherman Stew. Almost perfect except the shrimp were a little overdone. I ordered the Braised Short Ribs. The presentation was great and tasted great. It was a large portion for sure. Our server was Amber, she made several recommendations and all were spot on! The restaurant was nice with great table settings however by the end of the night it was getting rather loud. But that just means everyone is having fun! This place was hyped up so we tried it. First of all it is very loud. Too loud. The hostess was rude when we arrived. My steak was over cooked and my husband's burger was basically raw. Husband and I went to River & Fort on a Sunday for early dinner. The line was very long but because of its great location, you get to drop your name/phone# on the waiting list and can go for a nice leisure walk. So while there is a wait, it's not really noticeable. We tried a few appetizers and shared a tomahawk ribeye steak. The food was good, and we got to enjoy the view from the balcony. Beautiful location and VERY nice waitress, BUT disappointing food. We started with the calamari that arrived barely warm and was terribly rubbery. My husband ordered the Ocean platter, which he enjoyed, but for the price, the serving was quite small. I ordered the Garlic Chicken Caesar Salad and I couldn't eat it. The dressing had NO resemblance to any version of Caesar dressing that I have ever had and the cheese was more like goat cheese than it was parmesan. The waitress offered to take it back and have a plain salad made for me, with ranch dressing on the side, which was much better than the first salad, but definitely not something I would order again. Our first visit we shared a Filet & Caramelized Onion Neapolitan Pizza which and an Old Fashioned. The pizza consisted of filet, forest mushrooms, bleu crumble, marsala demi, and balsamic glaze. It was one of the most incredible pizzas i've ever eaten. The filet melts in your mouth and the savory caramelized onions and marsala paired perfectly. The Old Fashioned was over priced and below par from anything I would expect from a higher end establishment. If you looking for an incredible view and drinks, go to the 3rd story roof patio and get a seat overlooking Castillo de San Marcos. My wife had the Hot Hot Cauliflower and declared it be on the of the best vegan dinners she's ever had a restaurant. My kiddo also loved her chicken tenders & fries. I had a tasty bourbon & blackberry cocktail, while the bar made a blackberry mojito mocktail for my wife. Service was great, and we had dinner in a beautiful room full of large windows overlooking the bay. We were so happy to try a new restaurant and hit a home run with this one. My husband loved the wings - they were pretty spicy but very tasty. We came back another day & enjoyed dinner at the bar since there was a long wait for tables. We both got the cheeseburger & it was cooked perfectly & tasted great. You could tell it was a freshly made burger patty. Fries were cooked well done as we asked & we enjoyed ourselves.
