Great service. good food choices, although the menu doesn't seem as extensive as before. My favorite: fish tacos has been taken off the menu. Still good choices though, along with my fav Italian margarita. My date and I found the volume level of music too loud for a Tuesday afternoon. It was hard to converse. I will not return because of my tinnitus hearing issue unless my date wants to. I will either bring my mowing ear muffs or ask the manager to turn down the music. ‍. Fish Tacos! My family and I were in Rock Island for my step sons football game and afterwords we went to this place because it sounded like a good place to eat. The 5 of of walked in and were directed where to go to wait to be seated. So after standing there for 10 minutes one of two waitresses waiting one table told us someone would be with us shortly. 5 more minutes pass and what I assume was the hostess finally came to the podium and said how many...5 of us...u realize there is a 45 minute wait right?? Well no we didn't because I'm looking at 4 empty booths right behind us. And ppl were sitting in 2 booths in the same area. Yes I know covid but with 4 empty booths I'm like no we don't want to wait..and oh yes I forgot to mention that my family is black. Definitely felt like we would have been seated had we not been We left and went to the next restaurant which was Johnny's Italian steak house..SUPER NICE PLACE!! We were seated immediately! They even opened the door for our friend who was on crutches. I will go to Johnny's every single trip we take to Rock Island. I had just arrived here for work and had a quick lunch here. I ordered the seafood platter and the fish, shrimp, and crab cakes were decent for this type of establishment. I had asked for rice in place of fries but was served the fries regardless. This is mostly a basic bar menu (burgers, nachos, fries, some seafood) that I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at but it was a close option. read more

This is one of my parents' favorite restaurants. Last week my dad said, 'Pick a cool restauarant for us to go to for dinner tonight!' and my mom clarified, 'You have two options: Sippis or the River House.' So that's how we ended up there on Wednesday night. I've been here many times. The burgers are okay. On Wednesday, I got Buttercup's Bacon Burger. It was decent. My chief complaint is that I ordered it medium and it came well done (WHY oh WHY do they even bother to ask!?). The fries were undercooked - soft and chewy, which is no good. Crinkle cut, and likely ordered frozen from Aramark or somewhere similar. Our waitress was great. Very efficient. Kept the drinks coming. At the end of the day, I feel like The River House is a step or two up from Applebee's and Bennigans. Their vast menu enables them to please a lot of people, but not to do any one thing particularly well. read more

I walked here to pick up some dinner while waiting for show traffic from iWireless to thin out so I could drive back across the river to my motel. I settled on the fish tacos, enticed by the side of black beans and rice, and hung out at the bar while I waited. Not only was the bartender (who volunteered to go card a suspicious couple when no one else wanted to--my kind of guy) friendly, but so was the regular I sat next to, and chatting with him passed the time waiting for my food. The fish tacos were a little soggy by the time I got back to Bettendorf, but they were still fantastic! Pieces of perfectly-friend fish on top of some killer homemade slaw with just enough sauce, as well as the side of the aforementioned rice and beans (which were packaged separately for you to combine or not as you chose). I wasn't crazy about the rice, but the beans were tasty, and best of all they included a set of good sturdy plastic utensils in the bag. Awesome! read more

Never had a bad meal from River House. Their Cobb salad is delicious and huge. The Adult Mac & Cheese is good to. Recently I fractured my foot and I had to have their Cobb Salad because they have been closed and I was craving it and they brought my order out to the car. read more

I have enjoyed many great meals here, but after today I will probably never be back. We were seated, received beverages and placed our order. After 35 minutes our server had never returned, my friend asked another server to refill his iced tea. Our male server returned shortly after (not bringing an iced tea) and began to berate me (a female) that we were not the only people in the restaurant, the patio is packed and the kitchen is slammed. To which I said "but you never offered a refill" he snapped back that he was going to now. We walked out and won't return. read more

Sadly after going to this restaurant for years I won't be back after my recent dinner experience. Went to dinner with my son which is a rare occasion for being just the two of us. We both ordered grouper, I had the sandwich and my son had the grouper dinner. I asked to sub my fries for a side Caesar salad. The food arrived and everything looked good. This is my fav meal from River House. The salad taste was off though. Not sure if it was the dressing or maybe the diced tomatoes were going bad but it didn't taste right. My son tasted it also and said it didn't taste like Caesar dressing to him and wasn't very good. When our waitress came to clear our plates she noticed I barely touched my salad. She asked if so was finished with it and I said yes I couldn't eat it as it didn't taste right. She said she would be sure to let her manager know. She dropped off our check and I went to pay and noticed the upgrade charge for my salad still showing. So I asked if so could have it removed since I couldn't eat the salad. About 5 mins later the manager comes to my table slaps down a $5 certificate (same ones I get every time I order carry out for lunch) then processed to tell me that there was nothing wrong with my salad and it must just be how it was tasting to me. Then goes on to tell me her and the staff are in the back tasting the dressing and it was fine and was also a brand new bottle. She also mentioned that she has sold tons of salads and no other issues. What??? I never even said it was for sure the dressing just that something was off. Regardless a $2.50 upgrade charge and she refused to waive it and gave me the $5 off coupon to be used at another visit. I paid my $44 bill. I stopped at the bar on my way out and saw the same manager glance at me then turn away as if she didn't notice me. Another worker asked if she could help me. I gave them back their coupon and let them know I wouldn't be returning. So sad as I was a loyal customer and would often recommend River House to others including trainers I have arranged for my work who are from out of town visiting QC for first time. Way too many food options in QC to treat a customer like that especially over a side salad. Our waitress was embarrassed by the response and how we were treated. She was an awesome server and was tipped accordingly. read more

Wife and daughter loved the house-made potato chips; I have had better. Burger was OK, not bad, not great. Wait staff was very nice and attentive. They have 1919 Root Beer on tap, which is really very good. Ambience was crowded and somewhat loud, but a nice building with outdoor seating. Nice little neighborhood. I'll eat here again and if the food is any better than the burger I tried I can see going up to 4. read more

I went to River House for a business dinner. In menu and décor the restaurant was typical bar & grill, the walls were flanked with local memorabilia and the menu featured plenty of fried items. Our group of six shared an appetizer sampler and there was plenty of food to go around. I'm not gonna lie, I was excited to see a knock off of Chili's southwestern egg rolls on the menu and I was even more excited that they were included in the sampler. They were every bit as good as the originals. For dinner I had a Buffalo chicken sandwich. My chicken was slightly overcooked, less golden brown and more brown, but it was still edible. The house made chips were delicious. My co-workers ordered everything from salads to steaks to shrimp quesadillas, all seemed to enjoy their dinners. My one complaint about the restaurant was the temperature. We ate there on a cold January evening and every time the front door opened an unforgiving blast of cold air would slap us in the face. Our server was busy, but still very attentive. Overall the place was clean, but it does show it's age a bit. Will I go back? I probably wouldn't choose this place as one of my top dining picks, but I wouldn't be disappointed if I was invited to another business dinner there. read more

Was here for work travel and ended up eating here twice. I got the burger dedicated to someone and fish tacos and both were great. Last year I got The Godfather sandwich and that was a winner too. Great food, very reasonably priced and a good beer selection. Def will stop by again when I'm in the area. read more

Well, we ended up in downtown Moline on a Sunday and this place was pretty much the only one in town open. So kudos for that. The inside seating is pretty spacious, a big bar with a few TVs to look at. We chose to seat on the outside patio which was under the shade and comfortable, a definite plus. Service was fast and adequate. Food was good and prices were cheap for the portions offered (on the large side). We stuck with the specials: meatloaf and seafood pasta and were not disappointed. My only downside, beer was served in plastic cup and I really don't care much for that: it doesn't help the environment and it really makes the beer a bit less enjoyable. Except for that an overall decent place to stop by for a bite. read more

We went to Moline to see a concert, and stopped in here after the show. I really don't have much to say about it, it really speaks for itself. It's a bar that serves food. The service was good, the food was good, nothing out of the ordinary. Just a neighborhood bar with lots of people, especially after a concert. I'd definitely go back if I was ever in town, but i wouldn't go out of my way to find it either. Keep in mind, I'm from out of town and only stopped in for 1 beer and some food on the fly. read more

Fried cod lunch special was outstanding. Reuben was decent. No onion rings on the menu so settled for the onion straws. An okay substitute but why no onion rings! Love it! Food is great, been here multiple times and never had a complaint. Even on their busiest nights the food came quickly and the staff was friendly and attentive. I am in love with their crab cakes! Their burgers are delicious, too. Would definitely recommend for a nice casual dinner date. ;) Only reason I bumped it down a star was that their Bloody Mary was disappointing. They use this *fantastic* smoked salt but the flavor of the actual drink was very bland and seemed almost non-alcoholic. It also only came with one olive and while that technically lands as a garnish, most Bloody Mary drinks I have had (and they're my favorite so I might be a little picky) come with a plethora of garnish treats like celery and pickles, garlic, etc.. But the Sangria was yummy and the beer is always bubbly! read more

They were able to accommodate my family of 9 after RAGBRAI. Food was good, staff was friendly and helpful. My grandparents got a kick out of the margaritas being served with a shaker. I ordered their chicken & waffles, which is supposed to one of their featured dishes (even on advertising poster near entrance. Waitress informed me that they were out of chicken and waffles. I ordered something else, and it was below average. Staff was average, food was average or a little below. Overall, probably wouldn't return unless we went for just drinks. read more

The River House is a decent place to grab a bite, it's a step above the usual "bar 'n grill"-type places but less formal than a fancy restaurant. They have excellent burgers and decent catfish, I have heard that the Mexican is good too but I've never tried it. The servers are always nice and an interesting mix of people (old grandpa-types, tattooed college girls, etc) and I've always been treated well here. During the summer they have an outdoor beer garden. River House is really conveniently located, just outside the Arsenal's west gate and near the John Deere Pavilion. read more

Not Covid friendly. The staff is wearing masks but the clientele are not and it's not being enforced. I get its a restaurant and people have to remove masks to eat, but common areas need to be enforced. They haven't ditched the menus either so you're touching what everyone else has touched when you sit down. Also, looks like this place hasn't been cleaned in a decade. Dirt, grease, and dust everywhere. I'm grossed out at the thought of the kitchen. The server was nice though. Bless his heart for working amongst the mouth breathers eating there. read more

Staying at the nearby Hotel, my friends and I decided to drink here and enjoy the live music. Outside bar seems a bit small but it was okay for what we expected. Overall I give this place a good rating, the place was clean and the service was top notch. I had the tilapia on the rice pilaf. My only complaint was that the salsa garnish on top of the dish had clearly gone bad so I just pushed it to the side as it was only salsa. It tasted as if it were in the early stages of fermentation. Being the farm raised individual that I am a little funky salsa doesn't scare me away so I ate it due to my level of hunger...BUT I know we all know that person who would've been in a uproar over it. Wow need I say more. First things first start with the Italian nachos appetizer. You won't be disappointed. I had the Cajun fish sandwich and it was amazing. Of the items on the menu I have tried the meatloaf and bourbon steak, while both were palatable they seemed to be overdone with covering up the beef and in both cases were mediocre at best. Food was a pretty big disappointment. We ordered the queso to start and it was literally velveeta and rotel. I can make that at home if I really wanted to. The kids Mac n cheese is the Kraft straight outta the box kind and they even served the applesauce in the little container. My husband ordered the meatloaf which was a pile of soggy meat on his plate - it was disgusting and inedible. I ordered the prime rib sandwich, which was at least edible, but had no flavor. Even the waitress told us that she didn't like the food. We might come back for the live music and drinks, but I will never order food from there again! read more
