MAKE SURE to have quotes from different dealers, a calculator, edmunds.com pricing, kbb pricing, pen & paper & SPEAK UP! Walk it out too and think it out. The process of buying a car is not something I personally enjoy but it went as well as could be expected. We test drove a Mazda CX 5 Sport a couple weeks ago with Isaiah but weren't ready to commit to a car yet since we wanted to do more research on tier levels. However, Isaiah was very pleasant to work with and was incredibly personable so I kept his card and wanted to go back when we were ready to give him our business. We did eventually go back this past weekend and were ready to purchase the CX 5 Touring with the preferred package. The negotiation is never a fun part of the process and the only reason I did not give this location 5 stars is because another sales manager named Ricardo came out during the process with Isaiah and immediately put me off. He didn't seem personable at all and did not seem to want to negotiate at all. He actually seemed bothered by the whole process and a bit aggressive in how he spoke to us. It almost sounded like he was speaking down to us and annoyed that we were challenging the extra charges they were trying to get us to pay for. Ricardo eventually went back to his office and we were left talking to Isaiah. We told him what we were comfortable paying and we eventually got the deal made and were able to leave happy. I've had a Mazda for 12 years and naturally wanted to stick with Mazda and honestly glad I did. However, I felt that better customer service could be had when speaking to customers about pricing. Stopped by the dealership to find the parts department. There were roughly 4-5 guys standing out front of the dealer and kindly greeted us, opened the door, etc...BUT the customer service inside the dealer was horrendous. We were NOT greeted at all by the receptionist, whilst entering or leaving. She was on her phone the entire time, just looking down. Working in customer service myself, you are supposed to greet all customers. Hello! The cashier was another problem. We had a fine experience with the parts guy, but when we went to go pay, the cashier was on a personal call!!! She failed to end the call and continued to talk on the phone while we were standing right in front of her waiting to pay. No apology or anything. Brought my vehicle to this location for service because my previous dealership is too far. Not sure if I will bring vehicle back the advisor was very short and brief and did not go through my vehicle like the way a service advisor should he just asked what was I therefore I explained to him I want it whatever service was needed for the amount of miles on my vehicle and all I got was an oil change he asked if the tires should be rotated and I explain to him yes if they need to be but I believe I need new tires and if that's the case then no but let me know the adviser never mentioned anything so the paperwork does not say if whether or not they rotated the tires or not. So, we came in with a Truecar certificate from Nancy Le (the internet manager). She was nowhere to be found. We dealt with Ivan, Maj and or Vinnie. Ivan seemed like a good guy but he wasn't able to offer us a good deal. Maj/Vinnie tried to convince us that "lojack" is required and that all of their vehicles have it and they can't remove it. So, I responded, well you shouldn't put lojack in the first place if you demand customer who don't want lojack to pay extra for it. Then, he replied: Are you Filipino? I'm not Filipino and it's confirmed by 23andme as well. I'm very shocked and offended about his response. What does race/ethnicity have to do with negotiating car buying or even lojack? It seems that Riverside Mazda need to give more training to employees in regards to micro aggression, diversity, intercultural communication, and customer service. I was also told that gap insurance from Chase bank will be around $750, this price was confirmed by other Mazda dealers with Chase affiliation. Maj/Vinnie tried to convince us that we don't qualify for our Truecar certificate. He asked what qualification we had for the truecar price, we were told to prove it. He also changed the gap insurance to be more than $800. So, I asked him, this wasn't what was mentioned earlier, and he said that through Chase, it will be almost 900, so I asked, is this Chase in California or other country? (Why the inflation) And he responded: Why are you talking to me like this? Do you want me to talk to you like this? Do you want me to treat you the same way you treat me? (What just happened here?) I also mentioned that I spoke to several people regarding prices and deals they got, he said that I would never get a deal like that anywhere. I asked him if he doesn't believe me and he said no, and I told him, even my employer got better deal, and he started asking, what does he do? I said, he is a neurosurgeon. I don't believe you, let me give him a call and ask. So, since I'm female, appeared young, about 5 feet, 100 lbs, he won't believe my word that he needs to confirm with a male neurosurgeon whether I told the truth or not. Seriously? We as customers were trying to get a good and fair business deal. We weren't trying to be greedy. Ivan said that Mazda Riverside do not make much profits and he even showed me on his calculator on the computer that Mazda Riverside only make profit less than $800 for every car sold. But, he won't show me how he gets the number: $800. I won't trust your number if you don't show your work in Math. We might just appear as mellow two little girls, but we are not dumb. If Truecar certificate states $23k. Then please honor the 23K and we will pay sales tax, license fee, and all the requirements without forcing us to buy extended warranty and service or extra accessories we don't want. Don't refuse to tell us what the Standard rate for the APR is because we know we qualify for 0% APR for 36 months. Stop saying, oh it's Standard rate, then an hour later, you stated that it's basically 4.9%. Please be an honest businessman/saleperson with integrity, don't try to take advantage from customers. We know as customers that business needs to make profits, but don't rip us off or trick us to spend $31k plus for MSRP $23k, that is a fraud. I learnt a lot from this experience and at the same time lost faith in humanity. Customer-focused build loyalty and relationships. You need to re-think your marketing strategy! We decided to go with Costco auto program. We walked in to the dealer, there was no switch and bait, everything was printed on the Costco members-only price sheet and manufacturer's invoice. We received costco discounts and Mazda loyalty discount, 0% APR, 36 months. We received fair treatment and the dealer managed to get the car with the color we wanted from other location, we walked out with the car we wanted. read more

Unfortunately I don't think I can recommend them on the basis of this charge - I believe it's excessive. I was contacted by the service manager to bring my car back in for a week of investigation. After questioning him about the new process that Riverside Mazda would use to find the problem, I was really disappointed that they were going to do the same exact thing that they had done last year. Why would I put myself through the same experience as last time when it didn't work the first time? If they had a new tactic to find and fix the problem then we would have been all in and given it a chance. To top it off, as you can see the owner reached out to me and asked that I call him. First off, the company has my cell phone number and email. He could have reached me directly any time. But I tried to call him, twice. I was told that he was busy in a meeting the first time and then out of the office next. I left my number both times and no call back after over two weeks. This faux show of trying to resolve this issue was just to try and look good on Yelp. If I could take more stairs away I would. This confirms my point and lowers my opinion of the company and Mazda. read more
