Pretty good Thai. Reasonably priced, tastes home-made and the service is great. It's on my circuit of Marin restaurants I take out-of-towners to, and so far no disappointments. The Tom Kha soup was beautiful. They do a vegan version, and other people in the group had prawns. All were equally impressed. The Mango Salad is nice - Fresh ingredients and well balanced flavors. The sauce accompanying the crispy tofu had a touch of curry in it, rather than being peanut based. Not the best crispy tofu, but edible and went well with the salad. They let us try a sip of a couple of bottles of wines before selecting the wine for table which was very nice of them. The service was very quick, the meals came out very quickly too. The bathroom wasn't as clean as I'd like. The dirty parts were more the smal easy to miss details, rather than the floor/mirrors etc, but still could have been better cared for. Ie. Mould at the back of the toilet paper dispenser. The carpark isn't very big, so we had to park a street over and walk in the rain. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. read more

Some like it hot, and some like it really hot. The other day I wandered home from work, just itching for some good Thai curry. So I pulled into R'Noh Thai, a small, unassuming little restaurant located right next to what can only be described as a strip mall. I guess it could even be part of a strip mall. I'd driven by it a hundred times, but never stopped. To put it in the trite vernacular of today's youth: My bad. I walked in and was greeted promptly. Even though I have no problem eating in restaurants by myself, I wanted to eat at home, so I propped open the menu and asked for some green curry to go. And then I asked to make it Thai spicy. My paper bag arrived quickly, and I hopped in my 2007 Audi S4 Cabriolet (This is the only part of the review I'm making up. I swear!) and headed home. When I opened up the bag, I was shocked at the amount of food I had been given. Seriously, I had three meals worth of curry and a lot of rice. I'm a pretty light eater, but there is no way anyone could eat that much at one sitting. I plopped a large amount on to a plate and took a bite. I then covered my mouth and emitted a high pitched squeal not unlike the sound my little sister made the time I hid under her bed and grabbed her ankle. To say that stuff was spicy would be like saying Natalie Portman is okay-looking. However, it was delicious once my mouth was numb enough to take bites. I will definitely be back to this place since it's so close to me. And I may end up bumping the stars to four once I actually sit down there and have a meal. You can't really go wrong with R'noh thai! Everything we have had there has been very tasty. I really appreciate the fact that they can make so many of their dishes vegetarian/vegan. Their mango salad is so yummy and fresh--it is one of my favorite salads! Sweet, sour, salty, crunchy! Yummy! Our go to dishes are veggie pad thai and eggplant tofu (which is so delicious). Hands down my favorite dish at this place. Definitely one of the better Thai places in the area. read more

HOLYCOWFANTASTICFOOD. I could smell it as soon as we got out of the car. And it was then that I knew it was be great. I went "off the grid" and tried something different than my usual Pad Thai measuring stick - Spicy Basil Pork. A scrumptious mix of stir fried veggies with thinly sliced pork, and lots of spicy thai basil. Mix that with some excellently prepared sticky rice and chopsticks, and I'm in heaven. Mmmm. The bf had his usual measuring stick - Pad Se Ew - and it was some of the best we've had. There was a lightness to the whole dish that neither of us have experienced with it before. None of that heavy "I-just-ate-a-heaping-plate-of-noodles-and-broccoli" feeling. The ambiance is great - very lovely setting by the water, which we would have enjoyed had it been light and not 50 some-odd degrees outside. Instead, we enjoyed our table by the fireplace. Service was alright, not the best, but we got what we needed and it was all fabulous. I can't wait to eat the remaining Spicy Basil Pork for lunch today. So much so I may have to have it for brunch. read more

My favorite Thai food place ever!!!!! This restaurant is easy to miss as it's located off Magnolia in a small isolated nook. But boy do they have delicious food. The pad thai is delicious, especially because they throw in all kinds of fresh veggies like cauliflower, carrots, broccoli, and zucchini. The same goes for their curries--all of which are yummy and chock full of fresh vegetables and meat. If you're not into spiciness (aka you're a pansy), stick to the yellow curry, which is more coconut-y than spicy. But the spicy dishes at R-noh Thai are delicious! They are not afraid to add a bit of a kick to their food. I usually get take-out but it's a cute enough place to eat in too! My one complaint is that their menu isn't online, it would make ordering from there so much easier if the menu was more accessible. read more

Problems: 1. Full of MSG, could not sleep after dinner until 2am (I only react this way to MSG) and my boyfriend was up the whole night. 2. Food was over salted, I could not finish the tom yam as it tasted like brine. 3. Curries are loaded with sugar and salt. 4. Garlic noodles had no garlic in them. Pros: nice service. But, I came here for the food. The over salted food is an old cheap tricks used by restaurants to get you to drink more alcohol (over salted food so you crave sugar i.e. alcohol to compensate). This place used to be ok but it looks like they changed the chef. Very disappointing. read more

I've heard lovely things about this place, and we finally decided to venture out of our comfort zone for dinner last weekend. It's in a weird little spot on Magnolia Ave - you wouldn't know it's there if you weren't looking for it. That being said, the place was packed when we arrived, but managed to get a table. We started with the spring rolls (awesome and quick!) and the hubby had the lamb curry, while I had the yellow veggie curry. He devoured his, and I briefly contemplated licking the bowl before realizing that, 1.) I would want to come back here without feeling embarrassed, and 2.) that curry might sting if I got it in my eye whilst licking the bowl. However, we recent placed a takeout order where the portion sizes were way too small (4 tiny spring rolls in a $10 serving, 3 shrimp in a pad Thai, papaya salad was about 80% filler iceberg lettuce) and the prices we were charged were higher than those listed on the website (eg. $17 for the shrimp pad Thai instead of 16). Finally got to try this local place out and what a disappointment. When I think of Thai food, I want big bold flavors and perfectly cooked proteins. My friend and I had the Tom Yum Soup which was lacking in flavor - this soup is suppose to have strong notes of sour and savory but this was just a somewhat flavorful broth. The Calamari salad was bland, the mint lime dressing was non existent and the calamari was over cooked to the point where it was rubbery. The Spicy pad thai was so generic, and "Americanized." An ultimate fail. Thep Lela Thai in Mill Valley is hands down so much better, they bring the spice, flavor, and less Americanized versions to the table. read more

So, I'm going on my 3rd week of living in Marin County-- and I finally broke down and demanded we find a thai restaurant here in the area. After living in the city for a couple years-- I knew this was going to be a tall order to fill. My husband suggest R'noh Thai-- and I am so glad he did! A list of the things I love about the place: 1. Super prompt & friendly service, and they even accepted us in for dinner despite closing in a 1/2 an hour. 2. DELICIOUS, fresh Mango salad! (even though i hate iceberg lettuce!) 3. The yellow curry had a great, rich sauce and was chocked full of veggies-- unlike my favorite places in the city, where the sauce is a little runnier, and the veggie is cabbage & potatoes. 4. a silly old lady thing to say-- but the bathrooms were super clean, and the restaurant was tasteful, well laid out, and again-- clean. I really liked it-- and everyone reviews here seem to agree. So far, this is where I'll go back for my next Thai food fix in the North Bay! read more

This is a great local place - friendly, professional service bringing very well prepared food to the table, every time. After four visits, I have yet to find any real flaws here. R'noh Thai is a good fit for the Marin vibe, and after several visits here, I've witnessed everything from high school dates to (seemingly) neighborly gatherings who seem enjoy a great experience. Without drilling down into too many details, I will say that everything from soups to salads to entrees are very good (curries and soups have all been very good), without anything making me "sit up take notice" for being deliciously different than the next local Thai place. Being on the adventurous side, I may amend this review after querying the waitstaff about any "hidden surprises" on the menu - perhaps for my next visit. :) Ambience is "nice casual." Wear shorts or jeans, but you could dress up if more evening plans beckon. That's why it would be a good date spot. There are a lot of beer drinkers here, so that has to be a draw, along with the brew-friendly Thai cuisine. There are about 20 Napa/Sonoma wines on the list. Four Yelp stars by me. A well-run spot that draws you in for well-executed, consistently prepared Thai cuisine, and an environment that begs you to stay a few more minutes to relax and kick back. read more

So maybe i got them on a bad dad, but i couldnt wait to go home and yelp them after i ate here today. I had finished a huge essay for class and felt i should treat myself to the delicious comfort of Thai food. I even walked there in the rain! I got there and it had a very nice atmosphere inside. It was calm and not overdone. there were pretty pieces of artwork on the walls and some lotus' flotating in a lovely bowl of water. the women working there were nice and friendly. they also wore a tasteful uniform with an asain style shirt and a long skirt. So why the two stars? the food was just not great! or even good for that matter. I odered my fave veggie red curry. when i looked in the to go bag after i left it was dissapointing. a tiny container of curry. a small scoop of rice and an iceberg lettuce salad. I figured it must be super delicous if the portions are that small. I tried the salad first and it was pretty good. but very plain and simple nothing i couldnt have made, it was literally just some lettuce with a sweet tangy dressing on it. Then i tried the curry. it was spicy but it really felt like it was missing a key ingriedient. also the tofu was not cooked at all. mushy and gross :(. the veggies were pretty good but the curry itself was not satisfactory. it was more vegetables than curry which was also not something I am into. Maybe ill go back some day and try something else on the menu. but until then this is my review read more

We have eaten here 3 times. The first time, we thought it was pretty good. We had the crab dumplings (yum) and pad kee mao. The service was great and the staff were exceedingly friendly. The second and third times we got take out. The pad thai had a weird almost fishy taste to it, and just was not flavorful. The pad see ew was bland and not very tasty. By far my favorite Thai restaurant! I went to R'noh Thai for dinner tonight and this has been my second visit. Just like my previous venture here, service and food were great! I love the atmosphere here. I cannot express how much I appreciate the quality of service and food that they provide there. The staff is always very friendly, personable, and welcoming. The food is always great. I definitely recommend the Sweet Potato appetizer to start off your meal! No matter which dish you order, you can tell that it's fresh and made to order. This is hands down the best Thai food that I have had since Thailand many years ago!!! The salads all are amazing and big, the red curry is enough for two to split with rice, with huge thin pieces of chicken, sweet potatoes, and mmm so much more! Pad-se-ew is also the best. BEST THAI FOOD IN MARIN! A girlfriend turned me on to this place a few months back and since eating here I simply cannot bring myself to eat at any other Thai place for fear of severe disappointment. I haven't had anything here that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Even the left overs get eaten completely, and that says a LOT cause I am not a fan of leftovers... at all! We made an order for our large group and the food was disappointing. The garlic noodles was basically pad thai noodles with some garlic sauce. The coconut rice was yellow with some little raisins in it. Nobody touched this. The best dish out of the 6-8 that we ordered was the BBQ pork and the green curry dish with beef. Green curry with shrimp, tom ka with chicken, pad thai with tofu...about $38 (carry out, so no tip, plus a 10% discount for paying in cash). Although the tom ka was missing the more complex flavors I'm used to in my soup, I had no problem suckin' it down like someone was going to snatch it away. I could've used a bit more heat in the dishes, but overall, everything was pretty damn delicious and the four of us (we ordered for two of us, but once the scent permeated the car, everyone was suddenly hungry) were totally satisfied with the amount of food. We used the menu on Dine In Marin. My only complaint is that the online menu isn't quite complete, so we missed out on ordering something else (would have opted for one of the other noodle dishes). Regardless, R'noh Thai is definitely on the list of "visit again" and will definitely satisfy your craving for Thai food. Next time...I'm eating in. read more

Depends depends depends on whom you're with and what you order. Can't say it's all terrific but if you're with people that have developed palates-unlike my-chicken nugget can eat a whole Challah in one sitting child-then you will enjoy this Thai food. Inventive? No. Consistent and balanced flavors? Yes. I've eaten here numerous times and haven't yet posted until now. The fresh spring rolls are crunchy veggie fresh and yummy though more mint and cilantro or Thai basil within would brighten the flavors. The accompanying sweet sauce is lovely, with the radish flower and orange slice decorating the plate; the presentation on most dishes is serene. We've had the samosas which are a bit gummy but the satay and salads are very good and ample. The chicken wings have the required fried crunch and I enjoyed the calamari which was not over cooked or chewy. The coconut soup was perfectly balanced with shrimp and mushrooms and al dente vegetables. I'd have liked a bowl! The pad Thai is too sweet for me but a squeeze of lime helps cut that. The shrimp are plump and succulent thought the chicken pieces are clearly cooked in one big patch and used in a variety of dishes. From the curry to the noodle dishes all the chicken appears in strips and a tad dry but the accompanying sauces are quite delicious. The spicy red curry is also well-balanced. Key to Thai cooking is that sweet salty umami balance and this restaurant does that very well. It's a popular place and the staff are so pleasant and efficient. Families come, people on dates-moi-come and you'll not wait very long for either a table or your food. Come. Eat. Enjoy this lovely little place. You won't leave saying best Thai food ever but you will leave satiated saying "yes that was pretty good" and, a nice addition, you'll feel the staff really appreciated your patronage. read more

Oh man, was I wrong about Thai food in Marin. I wish I lived closer as I'd try everything on the menu. The grilled bbq pork had intense flavor, pounded thin, but losing non of the texture or bite. Pad thai had a nice balance of sweet and savory, and chocked full of veggies and meat. Next time I'll have to try the shrimp as the couple next to us had some large prawns on their pad thai. The fried sweet potatoes had a great crunch on the outside. Seemed like a popular local spot and the owner knew several folks at neighboring tables by name.
