Hadn't been to Roady's in a while. So I stopped by for breakfast this Saturday morning. This place has an old school diner feel to it. Being in downtown San Dimas you get your share of cowboys and Sheriff's Deputies mixed in with the average joe. Nice ambiance. I ordered the Country Breakfast- 2eggs, 2 slices of bacon, country potatoes and biscuits & gravy. The food has always been great in the past but today it was a little off. My biscuits & gravy was served cold and the country potatoes weren't cooked through. Maybe it's because they were really busy but that shouldn't happen, hence my 3 stars on this visit. I will go back because it's such a cool diner and I know they can do better. read more

Zero stars actually, service was less than mediocre. They burn the Biscuit and they think they can get away with it by covering it in the gravy. I should have taken a picture of the egg that was the size of a 50 cent coin. When we were done with our meal they finally brought the cranberry juice my son ordered before we ordered our meal. Our coffee were cold. Our first time here and our last time. Guess we learn from our mistakes. read more

Pancakes with boysenberry are a MUST. I love these neighborhood joints. Very comforting diner feel. They have a counter and I think they were playing keno or some other live lottery game. Super cool and you know these guys are regulars since the wait staff address them by name. I got the 2x4 for less than $6. 2 pancakes that were amazing! people say its better than IHOP and that is an understatement. 2 sausage links, 2 pancakes and 2 eggs. FANTASTIC meal for $6. Ordered eggs benedict, hungry man special and a stack of pancakes. -Over easy eggs, asked for medium, they were very undercooked. -Poached eggs were over cooked. -Bacon was perfect. -Pancakes were basic. -Home fries were ok. A bit undercooked. -Hash Browns were cooked to order. -Biscuits and gravey were powdery and bland. -Hollandaise sadist tasted like the knorrs packet you buy from the grocery (which is a good thing) delicious. -Our waitress was impatient and kind of rude. Also didn't speak English very well. (jew like more soda what kind is?) really? That isn't even a sentence. I also got instant chorro lol. We won't be back. Tip from our waitress: Always ask for their recommendations. And boy, are we glad we did! Our waitress recommended the chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy. That dish just sticks to your bones until the cows come home! I am also a fan of their generous serving of hash browns. Very filling, indeed. I ordered French toast, which was nicely done-- not too soggy or eggy like many places. It's cooked perfectly. Plus, I ordered my scrambled eggs soft (or wet) and their did it just right. I'm finishing a 5 day vacation here in California and I have to say that Roady's is the best breakfast I've had yet on my stay. We tried a new 4.5 or better breakfast spot in the area every day and the best was definitely saved for last. My husband and I love this place, it's right down the street from us. We get to walk all the cute downtown shops. Like the Emerson's Gift Shoppe, Pozzetto's, O'Malley Flowers and so much more. The meals there are really good comfort food. Highly recommend it and ask for Barbara she's great! They were kind enough to donate 2 dinner-value certificate to GFWC La Verne-San Dimas Woman's Club. I'm writing this while leaving this place thought we would try it today sense we live around the corner. Walked in was told sit where ever u like. We sat down and was asked what we would like to drink ordered coffee. Waited 15 min figured they forgot about us. Went inside and asked politely if I could get someone to give us service. Waited 10 more min with no service waved down one of the waitresses and got nothing so we ended up walking out. I wish I could tell u how the food was but did not make it that far. 30 min no service is ridiculous read more

Looks great from the outside. Took 15 min for someone to come to my table for a menu. Another 10 min for drink orders. When the food came out was cold. No one came to check how the food was. Was hungry so ate what was there. When I said that the food was cold they immediately blamed the kitchen and took no responsibility for the service. Food looked like it would have tasted good hot. Let me preface this by saying that I have been to this restaurant three different times in the space of a year. I think above all, it's dated (which isn't a bad thing) but you can tell that they have been there awhile. I have visited by myself, with a small group, and a large of twenty and regardless, the service was slow despite the owner himself coming out to help our waitress with our large group. The waitresses and the owner were very sweet every time I visited. It is a very American restaurant, and in my rankings Roady's Restaurant is only a rank below Denny's. Their food is very plain and it's hard to find something that tastes good. I can only really recommended ordering breakfast (and use that salt and pepper on the table). The portions of food are quite massive. A few people in my group were served cold plates and our waitress quickly took them back to be warmed without complaint. Overall, I think it's a joint you stop in every once a while or when all of your other options are closed. read more

This cute old little diner on an old town street in San Dimas is dated but it's part of the charm. Their country fried steak breakfast was delicious. Perfect gravy. Perfectly cooked eggs. Exactly the way I wanted. The one lacking star is for the weak-ish coffee. That's the only thing that was below par. The servers are funny, chatty and friendly. Food fabulous. Three is us went here after a long bike ride in sweltering heat. I had read previous reviews, so was not expecting much. This place is what it is, a basic, simple family restaurant specializing in American comfort food. It could seriously use a renovation, but we weren't really looking for upscale. Outside seating was available and a welcome choice since there was ample shade. Two of us has tuna melts and the other had a a club sandwich. The wait staff was friendly, and service was just fine. The food, simple as it was, was just what we were looking for at the time. If we ever do a ride in San Dimas again, Roady's will be our go-to stop after. read more

It's a nice treat for us to not have to cook in the morning sometimes. I love that it's walking distance from our home, so we just bring the stroller or stroll n' trike. What we can always expect. Tried a new (to us) breakfast place in our new neighborhood... I split the corned beef hash with my cousin. It was just okay. But my over medium eggs were cooked perfectly! I have been going to Roady's since I was a kid. The one thing I have always liked is the fact that they just serve good old fashioned comfort food. What Roady's is known for is their amazing chicken fried steak. Hands down, the best ever. It is breaded perfectly, the meat is tender, and it is cooked just right. I order mine with hash browns and two eggs over medium. I suggest you order yours the same way. The menu has something for everyone. The servers are a little on the older side, but that is another unique thing about Roady's. The decor is a blast from the past. Lots of western decorations and brown Formica. Next time you are in San Dumas, stop by Roady's. Take it for what it is. Try the chicken fried steak. read more

I have been coming to Roady's for many years and they have the best breakfast. We usually order their homemade salsa, which is spot on. Their home fries are also good. I am not too impress with their lunch so I only go for breakfast. They have good bisquits and gravy. The waitress, Chrissy and Beverly are the nicest people and fast. I usually pay about $25 for 2 people. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. I would recommend Roady's for breakfast. read more
