My go to Happy hour spot 7 days a week from 4-6pm. Line starts at 3:30 for this place. It's well worth the wait. The chicken pesto pizza and huckleberry frozen Margarita are my go to. You'll want to check out the Big AZZ burger it's a mouth full of deliciousness. It can get a little loud in bar area and main dining during prime dinner hour. This is a busy spot. Stopped in here for dinner on a Friday evening. Friends in town were staying across the street at the Scott Resort. Food was delicious, well prepared. I had the filet and mashed potatoes. We sat at a high top in the bar area. Worked perfectly for our small group that wanted to be able to talk to each other and catch up. Our server was excellent- checked in to make sure we had what we needed without hovering. It's not inexpensive but nothing is this time of year in Scottsdale and it's Scottsdale. read more

We shared appetizers among the table and everyone ordered their own entree. I ordered the Big A** Burger and let me tell you - IT WAS AMAZING. Delicious, flavorful, and juicy. The fries were perfectly seasoned. The restaurant was clean and well organized. All of the servers were friendly (even with each other, which you don't always see). Get there early for happy hour! We had a dinner reservation but after sitting in the bar with our wonderful wait staff, Kalyn, we decided to stay where we were. The Pinot Noir was amazing. Other drinks looked very good as well. We ordered the fresh guacamole and chips, green chicken chili which was amaze balls, steak quesadillas, a pan of cornbread with butter, the big ass burger with fries. Now, I don't like French fries usually but these were out of this world good. Our waitress, Kalyn is fandamntastic!! The beef quesadilla are amazing. Everything is good. This was my second time at Roaring Fork and I was impressed with how spacious the restaurant was inside. It's subdued lighting, lodge rustic decor creates an intimate atmosphere. Dim lighting, large booths with comfortable benches make it a good choice for a quiet date or gathering. The food choices were good, the Mexican Corn side was very tasty and my friend really liked the Pork Tenderloin. Our drinks were a little strong and they did make a mistake with my salad as I had requested no feta but it arrived with feta. The Pecan Dessert was delicious and I would consider going to Roaring Fork again in the future. read more

Came here for restaurant week to check it out and wasn't impressed. Felt just like average food. Got the ceaser salad. Then got the filet mignon, delmanico, and pork chop. All the dishes came with some mash potatoes and sides. The salad was good. I changed the asparagus to brussel sprouts and they didn't look cooked just felt raw. My dad got the pork chops and it was not cooked! Can't believe that like it was pink inside. They did take it back to cook but like the manager or no one came by, which I was surprised. Also for dessert I got creme brûlée and my dad got pecan pie. The creme brûlée tasted burnt. read more

My wife and I go out to eat frequently. I can't cook and my wife doesn't want to cook. We had our "fast food era" many years ago. Currently, we are relishing our "Happy Hour period". Roaring Fork opens at 4:00 pm and Happy Hour is only in their bar area. Even though the bar is a good size, amazingly it always seems to be crowded. The bartender told us many people get there right at 4:00. On our next visit, we arrived at about 3:55 and saw around 20 people waiting out front for the doors to open. Needless to say, it is a good Happy Hour with about 15 food items, some of which are not your normal average HH items you see at many establishments. The "Big Ass" Burger is aptly named. The nachos are very good, the chicken flat bread is tasty as is the guac, and we really like the Queso con Puerco. One of their Huckleberry Frozen Margaritas has become a mandatory order for us. We've enjoyed many of the regular menu items as we really like wood-fired cooking. Recently, we dined on a filet and a very good salmon dish. The bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin is one of our faves along with the braised short ribs. Service has always been good. Roaring Fork is high on our list of dining venues. read more

Tucked away in a corporate plaza, this was a nice eatery to meet up with your favorite people, break bread together and toast long friendships! Suggest making reservations at this popular spot for a weekend dinner; we had 7p reserved and were seated a bit late, but we did close the place down as the last table! Reminded me of a traditional steakhouse, with dark (or could be romantic) ambience, excellent wait/staff and attentive service, full bar and tasty food options! Overall a solid 4.5 rated experience; and entrees range $18-30pp (or more for their Premium steaks), plus a nice broad selection of wines. We ordered several meals tonight, but my #1 vote was for the tender Braised Beef Short Ribs - rich and flavorful, plentiful and "melts in your mouth"! Others tried the RF Big Ass Burger, Spit-Roasted 1/2 Chicken and Steak Tenderloin Salad - all were de-lish! And we couldn't leave without trying house-made desserts, so everyone enjoyed sampling their Creme Brûlée, Pecan pie with Ice Cream, and the Chocolate Cake with Berry sauce, YUM! Our server, Austin, was on point and really made our Roaring Fork experience memorable. The New York strip was absolutely phenomenal.

They have what looks like a good Happy Hour until 6 pm. We had a 7:15 pm reservation and were seated out in the covered patio. It is very spacious back there and the tables are large and set far apart so it doesn't seem very cozy - it has a strange "ëmpty ballroom¨ type feeling and would not return if that was the only space available. WE enjoyed some smoked wings - the server said they smoke them, then chill them and flash fry them to heat and crisp them before service. They were moist inside and crispy without too much smoke flavor. There were 11 large pieces for $14 so a good deal. We shared the BLT salad which could have used red onions instead of scallions - they are too mild. Also a bit more bacon would have made it better. My better half order the 22 oz ribeye medium rare however it came out almost rare so he went it back to cook more. Better under than overcooked we always say! It had good flavor. We each had two drinks and the total with tax and tip was $186 - too much for a week night out. The ribeye put it over the top! Service was solid. If we can get an inside table or one outside on the north patio we would return for Happy Hour for sure. read more

The restaurant itself is in what looks to be an office building so I didn't see valet but we ended up parking pretty close so no sweat. Anything you get here is amazing! They have their yummy signature drinks with huckleberries and the appetizers were amazing! Our servicer was super awesome and attentive. Water is always filled which is nice. I knew nothing about Roaring Fork before coming here during restaurant week except I knew the menu looked great. My brother and I came (I made reservations on Open Table -- we were seated on time). We ordered from the restaurant week menu, some of the entrees were not on the regular menu. I had the halibut and he had the duck, both were not on the regular menu. We also shared the cornbread. It was great. The halibut was very good, and the beurre blanc sauce fantastic. The asparagus was on the raw side, which was disappointing, but the tips were ok, so I ate those. The rest of it was delicious. I was not going to send it back for the asparagus. (I do love asparagus.) I had the chocolate torte for dessert. It had a great texture and flavor, and it was not too sweet. I highly recommend trying the restaurant. We invited our parents, but they declined trying restaurant week with us this time. When we said we were going to Roaring Fork without them, on a day they couldn't go, they were disappointed because they had seen it on AZ PBS' Check Please. So, we'll be back. read more

I have heard amazing things about the burger and have been looking forward to this meal. The burger was satisfying and good but didn't match the hype. Under seasoned which led it to be a bit bland. We ate in the bar area and the crowd was very interesting. As far as the burger game goes the value is excellent and the service was very nice. There are two burger joints in town that execute their burgers flawlessly...Glossy Heifer & Local Johnny's. If the chef could give these burgs some more salt and more juice you would have 5 star burger. But what do I know. ...Just another ignorant Yelper. I will come back to try the often mentioned pork tenderloin sandwich. Great employees!!! read more

Best happy hour in town. Great drink prices, delicious food, and great service (especially bartender Derick). My favorite restaurant and it never disappoints. August 2019. There are only two issues with Roaring Fork. 1) The WIFI is horrible. If I'm eating/drinking by myself I want to be able to have access to a decent WIFI. While it looks like you connect, it never seems to work. 2). Desserts. You can't have the same 4-5 everyday. You need a new pastry chef or one if you don't have one. Yes. These are little issues in the scheme of things. I love the food, drinks, and the bartenders. But they need to address these two items. read more

Roaring Fork was recommended by a local and I always enjoy trying out what the locals enjoy. Food is more like 3 stars. Our waiter's service was 5 stars. Our waiter was Matt in his mid-20s. Wow, his service was the best I've experienced, on par with waiters at Gary Danko in SF. Matt was attentive, fast, efficient and just knew when it was time to check in or let us know why a certain item was being delayed. Matt is kind, had a good vibe and came across like he really enjoys his job - but I wouldn't know if he actually enjoys it. His ability to convey his positivity to the guest makes a nice difference in the dining experience. Matt's talent and attitude is hard to come by in the industry. The place is large and will fill up so reservation is recommended. Outdoor seating is "climate control" - basically there is an outdoor space created for dining but it's sealed off with walls and heavy outdoor curtains that blocks off wind. So it's more like indoor dining, don't expect any air circulation. read more

We came here to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary. We've done this several times, but this time it was nothing special. They used to place a single rose on the table and comp'd our dessert which said 'Happy Anniversary' in chocolate script. Oh well, policies are changing all the time and just another missed opportunity for the restaurant to highlight special occasions. We were welcomed at the desk with 'Happy Anniversary' and was led directly to our table. We ordered drinks while pondering what we should order. My wife had the Tortilla Soup which she said was really flavorful and my Wedge Salad BLT was okay. Can't really mess that up. My wife had the Rotisserie Chicken and I had the Cedar Plank Salmon. I tasted her chicken and it was moist and delicious. My salmon was cooked perfectly and was moist throughout. For dessert we ordered the Gelato and Sorbet. One scoop was $5 and two scoops was $8. When I came back from the men's room. There were two scoops of each. We'll, the server didn't ask if we wanted two scoops and I thought we were ordering one scoop of each. I told him after but that didn't do anything so instead of giving him a nice tip, I took back a third. So, I guess we should have made it more clear. Live and learn. We still love this restaurant but won't be using it for any type of celebration. read more

Struggling to give them 3 stars because it really should be two. It's a very nice looking restaurant inside as well as out. As soon as we walked in, we were taken to a nice booth.... no reservations. Our sever was nice, but seemed a bit aloof. He asked if we have ever eaten here before which we hadn't and he told us it's his favorite restaurant (of course). He gave us drink menus and quickly disappeared; when he finally came back to take the drink order, he didn't even ask my friend first (ladies typically order first or at least that's how I was brought up) and after I placed an order drink, he started to leave and I asked him if he was going to take a drink order from my friend. This was more or less the service we received from our server. He was very nice but difficult to find when we needed anything and just didn't seem to be "there". For clarification, the restaurant wasn't even at a third occupancy so it wasn't as if he was overwhelmed with other tables. Ordered two Cadillac margaritas and all I can say is they weren't. First, they don't even serve them in margarita glasses but more like a beer glass. Fine... no big deal but these were NOT "Cadillac" margaritas. They weren't even good regular margaritas. We started off with the fresh guacamole and chips order. For the chips, I have had fresher chips out of a bag from the grocery store. The guacamole was quite good but they serve up a tiny little scoop so small we were laughing when they brought it out. I wanted the Wedge salad but they serve theirs with Ranch dressing. It does come with Blue Cheese chunks... which is all the more strange. Ranch dressing over Blue Cheese chunks. So I opted for the Caesar salad which also was quite good. We both had steaks - Rib eye and a Filet and for sides we chose the Mac-n-Cheese and Asparagus. The steaks were good and cooked as ordered but the sides were very disappointing. I've had better Mac-n-Cheese from the box and the asparagus side was just about 6-8 skinny spears. Most good places have hefty, thick asparagus spears and they don't portion it out. The dish is usually full. We posted a photo of one of the asparagus spears... it was almost comical. I say it was "almost" comical because when the bill came... well, that was anything but funny. Again, overall, it's a decent dining experience but for what they charge! Not a chance would I recommend this place or refer anyone to it. Service was satisfactory... nothing above and beyond. Food was average at best (drinks weren't as advertised, sides were unsatisfactory) and overall, just not what you would expect for the price you are paying. Damn. This was great. I want more. Get the mussels. The broth was phenomenal. Top marks. The smoked wings were great. But I did then start dipping them in the leftover broth from the mussels because I wanted to get as much of it as possible. The RF Manhattan was also spectacular and the bourbon was on point. Pricey, but worth it an portions are sizeable. Also - huckleberry cheesecake- I got it to go. It traveled well and was killer. I've been raving about this place since I went there a couple days ago. Celebrated an early Valentine's Day this year with a trip to Roaring Fork. We had hoped to take advantage of the awesome happy hour. Sadly there were a lot of people with the same idea but we were seated on the main patio at a lovely table not far from the fire place. Our server was amazing but the food was outstanding! Huckleberry and jalapeño margaritas were perfect accompaniments to the queso con puerco appetizer (unparalleled and a must-try!). I ordered a new appetizer as my entree, beef tips with mushrooms and brioche. The rating would be 5 stars but the beef tips and the sauce on them were very, very salty. Delicious, but too salty - then again, I eat a relatively low salt diet so I can eat the ramen I crave once in a while. My sweetie ordered the Big Ass Burger which is a giant towering, precarious challenge to eat but he loved every morsel! read more

Excellent Service. They came by several times to fill our beverage without asking. Taking away used plates and brought out our food in the proper order at just the right time interval. Someone is teaching the staff the proper way to serve at a restaurant. We had reservations and were there at a busy time on a Friday evening. This is a big restaurant with plenty of tables. We were a bit early and seated right away. I tried to the green macaroni and cheese. The waitress said it was one of her favorites. ( not mine ). The Tortilla Soup was tomato based. They brought out fresh cornbread prior to our entries. The big burger lived up to its name. It was more than I could finish. The lettuce and tomato and onion were fresh. I would have liked mustard, to add, but was not given the choice. The bun was fresh and I enjoyed this as my main entry. Others at our table seemed to enjoyed their meal. The Salmon and Filet were some of the entrees enjoyed by my sons. We would return again and I would recommend this not only for the food but mostly for the service. read more

Love the Roaring Fork and the Scottsdale location by far. Just heard a rumor that the Roaring Fork GM wants to make the Scottsdale location like the Austin location(s). PLEASE DON'T! I've been to all three multiple times. The Scottsdale is the gem of the three. What makes the Scottsdale location sooo spectacular? The longevity of the employees, top notch customer service, the quality of the food, and the amazing vibes. My advice would be that the Austin locations have A LOT to learn from Scottsdale.
