There's so much to like about Roastology! It's bright and open with this gorgeous wooden bar that runs along 2 walls! That's where I sat. It's warm and cozy with seating inside and outside. Light was streaming in through the bay windows and it was reflecting off all the surfaces which were super clean. The Fall Blend Drip was superb!!! The grilled cheese was yummy and toasty! Great coffee (the Brown Butter Latte is a must try) and have enjoyed the pastry items I tried (the blueberry scone was nice and crumbly), but the wifi straight up does not work. Came in this morning to grab my wife and I something shortly after they opened. Grabbed a Cold Brew & Blueberry Scone for the Mrs, and a regular hot coffee with a Chocolate Banana Muffin. Wins hands down slowest service coffee shop in Richmond. I've given multiple chances and it has taken upwards of 15 minutes, even when it's not busy in the afternoon. So right before COVID-19 really hit Richmond, two of us visited this place for coffee and food and fell in love. The open space, friendly staff, quirky design, and delicious drinks and food will entice us to come back once this global pandemic is over. Anyway, when we visited, the staff was well-prepared - they were all wearing plastic gloves, insisted on using disposable flatware and to-go containers only, etc. even though you were allowed to stay and enjoy your meal or coffee. Luckily, the space was wide and somewhat-empty enough to practice some initial social distancing efforts. We got two drip coffees and two breakfast sandwiches. First, they serve breakfast all day! It was great! Second, their food menu is much more hearty than other coffee shops in town which I really appreciate. Sometimes I want to indulge and get a hefty grilled cheese or sandwich, okay? We customized our breakfast sandwiches; one of us asked for the tomatoes to be chopped up instead of sliced, and the chef happily obliged. Mine was vegan sausage, cheddar, mushroom, and egg on a bagel. It was so good and filling - I saved half of it for later, and it still tasted good. I am not vegan, and that patty was satisfying. Went to their new location in the Fan on Cary St. this morning - I ordered a Small Flat White with almond milk and a breakfast sandwich (egg & sausage, no cheese). My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich on gluten free bread with a veggie patty and a large coffee. My Flat White was perfect! Not too milky, very rich and smooth. I recommend getting your drink in a "for here" cup - it makes the experience so much more enjoyable!My sandwich came out with cheese : ( but they quickly corrected that and had it remade. My sandwich was fresh and hot off the press - satisfying on a cold winter day. My husband's sandwich looked even better - I had a taste of his veggie patty and it was full of green goodness like fresh peas and sprouts and carrots yum! I'm getting that nexT time. Coffee is wonderful. Food is delicious. My justification for a one star review is due to poor, rude service and their refusal to make accessible their restrooms to customers. Food order placed at 11:30 am. Food order was accidentally taken by another patron. When this was communicated to staff, I was accused of fabricating this story. Food order re-submitted but not fulfilled for another 30 minutes. I am sensitive to and aware of COVID restrictions pertaining to restaurants. However, not making restrooms accessible to paying customers, particularly to the elderly is not okay. Eight months into this pandemic and I have not yet experienced an establishment restricting restroom use. In addition to it being wrong, it creates an unwelcoming environment for patrons. This coffee shop has a great atmosphere and beautifully designed aesthetic, as well as intriguingly unique flavor combinations for coffee blends (and delicious tea)! I'm not a coffee drinker, but my husband drinks black coffee and tried a blend that had hints of fruit and he loved it. I ordered a chai tea, which has the perfect combination of sweet and spice (when you add some milk and Splenda). I've also heard great things about their grilled cheese!
