Dr. Tamaki takes his time and explains what he is going to do, and how to take proper care of your teeth without being pushy or making you uncomfortable. I can be a difficult patient, i have lots of dental fear. He is caring and his office staff are just as kind and accommodating. I really think he's the tops of all the dentists I've been to. Other than top quality dental work, pain free dental experience is my priority in choosing a dentist. I call Dr. Tamaki the dentist with the magic hands. Even when administering the anesthetic shots there is no pain. To my shame, I have even went to sleep in the chair during treatment...my kind of dentist. And did I mention about when the anesthetic wears off? Because of his expertise and gentle hands, there is usually no need for after treatment Tylenol or other pain killers. You can really tell they take the COVID-19 precautions seriously, taking only 1 patient at a time, taking your temperature and getting everything sterilized before you enter. My fiancé came to Dr. Tamaki to replace a chipped dental bond and he couldn't stop raving about his positive experience. He was so happy with his new tooth, he almost cried. He even got a handwritten thank you card in the mail. :) So when I needed a teeth cleaning and checkup pretty badly, I was happy I had someone great to go to! I needed a root canal and although he does root canal, mine was in need of a specialist. Dr referred the specialist who was excellent. Nice view LAX. Free parking everywhere. Dr. Tamaki is a seasoned expert and all-around good guy. I've avoided the dentist for years but finally resigned to the fact that I needed a good cleaning. I found Dr. Tamaki through yelp, went to his website, booked an online appointment, received a call the next day and was seen the following week. No hoop jumping, no frills...an easy experience from the beginning. When I got to the office, my appointment was pre-approved, and I was back in the daunting dentist chair within 5 minutes of arrival. The office is convenient to LAX, the 405, LMU, etc. The office isn't fancy and full of cutting-edge technology; it's a bit old school. However, the staff are amazing. You can tell they've worked together for years and have a seamless process. Dr. Tamaki was kind, empathetic, and thorough. He explains every aspect of the exam and cleaning process. He takes his time, and he personally spent over an hour with me. He strikes me as the kind of dentist who has seen it all - from cavities to root canals to oral nightmares - and knows how to treat anything. He focuses on preventative care, which is great.
