I've eaten here probably over 1000 times and every time I eat there it's still great.

I have been eating at this location for many years and it was always a good find. Now that I'm back in the area I learned that dogs are no longer welcome in the patio area (really?). We had to take our food elsewhere to eat only to discover the order was wrong. Being that we were no longer there, we just tossed it and moved on. Waste of time and money. read more

A combination of standard delicious greasy Mexican food and weird California hybrids (think a burrito with fries and sour cream.) The carne asada burrito was delicious but ultra filling; it's better to split. The main downside is that it's a bit small so if it's busy you might have to take your food to go. read more

Vegans beware, they use lard in EVERYTHING. After months of being assured the lite burrito was in fact vegan a manager at the Del Mar shop told me they use lard in the rice. Who puts lard in rice? Enjoy your unnecessarily high fat food. read more

I absolutely love this place! Me and my husband love the food here we come like 2 or 3 times a week Their fish tacos are delish my fav.! my husband and I went around 10ish during the summer which is usually when it gets pretty crowded because everyone is coming back from the del mar fair. My husband ordered a carne asada burrito and 3 rolled tacos with guacamole I was looking foward for some fish tacos turns out they had ran out of regular size tortillas for the tacos and all they had was mini tacos! The cashier if i recall by the receipt her name was Xiomara very nice and polite girl we've went a couple times and shes been really nice and attentive with us as well as the other young boy working there she asked the cooks to make me fish mini tacos. Food is very well prepared and tasty. I could bitch about the wait time sometimes, but the meals are prepared very well and worth the wait in my opinion. There's a lot of taco shops from Carlsbad to Solana and this one's a keeper when I head to Solana Beach. Also about a 3 minute walk to the beach (long stair climb back up) so take your food down and enjoy the view. There is even a picnic bench there as well to enjoy the overlook of the ocean. read more

The Carne Asada seasoning and meat quality changed a few months ago as well as increased wait times. We stopped going here entirely after a few more tries to make sure it wasn't just a bad day. Roberto's never fails to leave me happy and very full. I could go on & on about everything that is good to eat here, but basically you can't really go wrong. My personal guaranteed hangover cure is the standard breakfast burrito. You can add potatoes or chorizo if you'd like, but I think the eggs, cheese, and salsa are fine (and don't forget some of the extra sauce, I enjoy the red kind especially). It's really not even that greasy. Just a lot of goodness wrapped in a delicious tortilla that will keep your belly full for the better part of the day for the low low price of $3!! All Roberto's have fantastic food at great prices but this one is also just super cool no indoor seating so go directly from the beach. No need to put a shirt or shoes on or even to rinse the sand off. If you any an ocean view the beach is a short walk. read more

This place has been around as long as I can remember. My girlfriend (now wife) used to frequent the joint back in the late 90's when she used to work in Solana Beach. She loved the lite burritos. She had me pick her up one since I started working down there. I had a regular carne asada burrito. Needless to say, she loved hers, mine was average. It was nothing special. My favorite is the very simple, delicious bean and cheese burrito. Me and the kids come here after playing at the beach (which always makes us super hungry). The food is really good and we all leave happy! Love the location, right on the 101 in Solana Beach. Excellent salsas! read more

Ok seriously, I've disagreed with Yelp's overall rating of a place before, but never to this extent. Have the people who are reviewing this never had Mexican food before? I've been to other Roberto's, and while they weren't great, this place definitely seems like it's not part of the chain. They had a list of their other restaurants, and the dozens that are down in San Diego weren't on it. I generally judge Mexican restaurants by the quality of their carne asada, and the stuff here doesn't even qualify as that. Seems like they just too cheap ground beef and sprinkled some carne asada seasoning on it as they were cooking it. Carne asada is supposed to be slices of steak, and it should be marinated. The thought that came to my mind while I was eating this place was that it seemed like a bunch of people who worked at taco bell decided to open up an authentic Mexican restaurant. Yeah, they've worked in fast food, and they did some reading on what Mexican food is, and their heart is in the right place, but they just don't have the skills or experience. For the price I paid for my plate, I've had GOOD Mexican food at a sit down restaurant with someone waiting on me. Most definitely not recommended. Seriously, if you are coming off of or waiting for the train, there are plenty of better places to eat. If you are coming from somewhere else, you probably passed by 3 better Mexican places on your way here. read more

I've been eating Roberto's for over 20 years. I've been eating at this Roberto's since it opened. Something is wrong here. We just got Carne Asada burritos that were full of some weird looking meat "crumbles". It didn't taste good either. Even the refried beans were not any good. This is our 3rd bad experience at this location - Friday night and the parking lot was empty. We are going to join the other locals below and just stay away. Sad! read more

I've been here several times, and my last visit has me leaving this review. I went to Roberto's for burritos after a day at the beach, and I (plus my boyfriend) was one of the only people there. I ordered a Cali burrito without carne asada, chicken instead. I got my burrito seven minutes later. It had red meat and no chicken. When I went back to the counter, I repeated my order back to the woman and handed her the burrito. She slammed the burrito into the trash behind her and yelled to the cooks to remake my burrito. During this time, she also told me I couldn't eat there with my dog, who was on a leash sitting and watching my boyfriend eat. He's perfectly trained. I took my dog to the sidewalk, grabbed a chair, and ate my burrito alongside the 101 by the bus stop. Needless to say, I'm not impressed. Pretty disappointed with this experience. The burrito wasn't even good! Every bite was a separate ingredient. I wish it was mixed together before thrown into a tortilla. Oh well. (Worst Place Ever) Waited along time,counter person said they were making with new meat.i watched people with numbers get their food before me that came and ordered after me. I have been coming to this place for years when I am in the area. Got my order sat down took a bite of my burrito(I thought I was going to vomit).i took the burrito to the counter and told the cashier. He looked at me in disbelief asked me if I wanted my money back or something else . I said just my money and asked for owners contact info. Recieved the info called number for owner, left message with one of the managers at another location. It's been a week never heard from the owner and left my name and number. Talked with some local residents about it and they said the place has not been the same ,opening late with inconsistent hours. Locals have stopped going there.
