The guy at the counter was very friendly and this location is great- right on the 101 with outside seating and probably the least expensive eats around. Unfortunately my egg, potato and cheese burrito was not good. I was glad to see that they use real potatoes and not fries- but the potatoes needed to be pan fried for much longer than they were- and because they weren't peeled and not properly cooked- it was like eating a burrito made with sliced boiled potatoes- which may not have been that bad had the orange cheese not been sparse and tasteless. There was more potato than anything else in my burrito and not really a whole lot of egg either and the entire thing needed at least salt! The only thing I could taste was the oil everything was cooked in and the slight toast of the tortilla. I don't expect miracles, but a classic like this should taste much better than this. I suggest ordering yours with something that might add some much needed flavor- maybe pico or guac or chorizo if they have it. Otherwise you're going to get what tastes like boiled potatoes in a tortilla. A three minute drive from here is the FISH HOUSE which has far superior burritos and tacos for the same kind of prices. Just drive the three minutes east on Lomas Santa Fe. Don't bother with this disgusting food. read more

Always amazingly good. Love this place. Awesome sauces! The food is so good and as you order and wait some if your professional surfers come by as well. It is that good! I'd been craving a burrito all day so when I randomly stumbled across this place I excitedly pulled over... Unfortunately though this the food didn't live up to the expectations that I'd created in my mind. I ordered the lite burrito with carne asada and it was probably the most flavor lacking burrito I've ever eaten. Very good Mexican food. Hash burrito in the morning asada nachos for dinner. Simple is best and they do it right.

Dine outside only. Food was ok. Chile relleno was a from a canned chili. Tostado was good. Overall is was satisfying.

This place was not good. At all. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is the location and patio are nice, but even then they were playing 1950s Beach Boys music which seemed out of place. I ordered a fish taco and a tostada. The fish taco was one of the worst I've ever had. They skimped on the dressing, the fish tasted like it had been in the freezer for months, and the tortilla fell apart on me. My tostada was hard and chewy. Fresh tortillas are kind of like the basic minimum for good Mexican in San Diego and they couldn't even meet that. They only have three salsas available and they come in big plastic condiment bottles. To add insult to injury, we had to dump a few pounds of plastic in the garbage after we ate because they just assumed it was "to go" even though we ate it there. read more

Under new management...ordered chicken quesadilla and got two tortillas with very little cheese and the shredded chicken was mostly green peppers and onions and VERY little chicken. I could have ordered grilled chicken but that would have cost more! Husband ordered rolled tacos and he felt they tasted like they were premade and hard. Very disappointing. Have been a loyal customer but now it is time to find another Mexican restaurant!! read more

So i have had hundreds of carne asada burritos over the years in San Diego. My favorite place was the glass roberto's off convoy. But the other day my buddy and I stopped for a carne asada at this Roberto's. It was smaller than other shops make, but I think it may have been the best I've ever had. I'm sure the 65 miles on the bicycle helped my appetite but they use fresher ingredients and the size was perfect. I'll be back but next time going to try the California burrito. read more

Burrito was cold and way too skimpy. Literally half tortilla, unacceptable. The small amount of meat tasted funny. Won't be back.

The last couple have trips have been a lot better as far as the food goes. Their chorizo burritos are some of the best in the area, and their beef tacos have been pretty consistent also. The service isn't much to brag about though. read more

Roberto's used to be 5 stars! So sad but now they only get 3.... they have raised all of their prices and changed up their menus and aren't nearly as good now as they were a few years back. Still decent but I think I'd rather go to Rudy's Taco shop down the street now instead. read more
