We were so excited to try this spot, and upon arriving home and take a few bites of my burrito, there was what looks to be a pube or beard hair in my burrito, embedded in the sour cream and cheese. Don't order the fish tacos. The fish tacos I had yesterday were by far the worst I have ever had in the 35 years I've been eating fish tacos in San Diego. The fish was dry and hard. This is one of the best Roberto's in San Diego County. The food is always as good expected, very good. The prices are fair considering that the location may have a high rent. What I like is the stewed shredded beef that they normally use in the burritos. You can order the beef in a container so it's perfect if your living a low carb lifestyle. The rolled tacos seem to be very popular with a few friends that also ate here with me. The location is clean, organized and the service is fast. Roberto's is located close to the beach with is a huge plus. Grab your food, and go to the beach. The beaches along the highway are some of the best in SoCal. Plus, Del Mar is close by to. This used to be my favorite Mexican food spot in all of San Diego. They went under new management and raised prices considerably. The trick to getting your food in a timely manner is to call it in advance. I would allow at least 15 minutes. I order the same burrito every time and it's always a different price. I always order a side of guacamole and an extra tortilla. This Sunday when I picked up my order, the tortilla was missing and the side of guacamole (pictured below) was in a 2 Oz salsa container. I can't believe they qualify that as a side of guacamole. Don't worry you can pay more to get a "large" side. I will not be frequenting this place anymore. read more

The entire Roberto's brand has been destroyed and the quality as well. I have grown up in these places through the decades starting in the 80's and constantly try to give it "another try" but after my burrito yesterday I am DONE. It pains me. I used to love the warm tortilla, perfect cooked carne asada, FRESH salsa and ALWAYS a healthy portion of guacamole. None of this happens today. Meat is tough and usually luke warm at best as it has sat in a prep container on the corner of the stove. Salsa has no fresh taste to it or real flavor of cilantro. There was two bites with guacamole, rest was bone dry. Asked ro cheese inside the burrito and it was COLD cheese. I threw away half the burrito. Roberto and his wife must be rolling over in shame in the graves to what the brand and product have become. read more

Roberto's is consistent. Food is ok to good. Depending on how busy it it the wait is semi bad to bad. The help is ok in that the orders are always correct, don't expect a smile-- but whatever. The prices are decent. It's on my way home lots of times, so yeah, it does the trick. read more

We were in our way to the beach and decided to stop here for a quick meal. I asked for rolled tacos with guacamole and lettuce and cheese and they have rolled tacos with guacamole and cheese or rolled tacos special which has lettuce and sour cream as well. I ordered the first but with lettuce and she said the special and I said but I don't want sour cream I just want lettuce and she said yeah and dismissed me. I get the receipt and see that she charged me for the special with no sour cream. So I'm paying $2 more for lettuce?? So I said well in that case, just leave the sour cream on. She wouldn't look at me or speak she just turned around and told the man to put the sour cream and kept her back to me. So I said thank you! And she kept her back to me and said absolutely nothing. We got our food and attempted to say thank you once again and once again, not one word!!! BEYOND RUDE!! The food did taste decent so that's why I'm giving them one star. I paid an extra dollar for guacamole in my California burrito but all I got was basically a few barely visible drops of it that. At first I thought that they forgot to add the guac until I saw the little spots of green when I got halfway through my burrito. There was more sour cream (which was already included in the burrito) than there was guac. Being only one block away, I decided to phone in so that I could just walk over without having to wait in line. They only have two windows open: one to take orders, and the other for order pick up. For those with phone in orders or online orders, you just need to go to the order pick up window. You might have to grab the person's attention though, because they don't really acknowledge you otherwise. What's nice is that they have their red and green sauces off to the side so that you can get as much as you want. What isn't as nice is that the bottles were nearly empty. It wasn't even almost closing, it was around the early lunch rush. The food is okay, nothing really special to me. You get pretty full, and might even have a few bites left over as a snack or something. For the price, it's decent. But come on, I paid extra for guac and it looks like they used a little pipette to put it in. read more

Growing up on Roberto's requires on every trip home requires a visit. Today i went with the #8 3 rolled taco combo. I just cant describe the taste and do it justice of its pure awesomeness. The beans and rice are perfect and the rolled taco a fried to perfection. I just cant get Mexican like this in Texas! I had to go with the Horchata. I do not recommend to coming here. Possible health concern. I know I won't be back. It's unfortunate, this place has gone so far down hill since changing hands. I have lived nearby for years and this used to be such a great place to grab a quick Mexican meal. Recently, the customer service has been on the decline, and the food has taken a serious hit in quality. Now, I rarely post reviews, but this is the last straw with this place. Tonight they messed up our call In order by leaving off an item; the employee could've been a little nicer about the situation, but whatever, mistakes happen and it wasn't a big deal. This place has gradually gone far downhill. My friends and i ordered 3 burritos. My friend took 2 bites of his fish burrito and was almost spitting it out saying the fish was off. I took his burrito and took a couple bites and yes the fish was definitely wrong. I get fish burritos often and am from san Diego so i know my fish burritos. We took the burrito back and the manager laughed at us saying we had eaten half the burrito so it must not be bad and would not even acknowledge the problem. That's how to lose 3 customers in 60 seconds. We dont go there very often(3-4 times per year) anyways definitely won't be back. On a side note the shredded chicken burrito i originally ordered was poor as well but at least it was slightly above edible i was super hungry couldn't even finish it. Chicken wasn't shredded giant onions. Somebody needs to take burrito making classes. Head further up the road north and go to Lourdes. Much better, same price. read more

We've been to Roberto's several times but I had never written a review, however after this last visit I thought I better highlight something in particular. First, you should know that we generally like the food at Roberto's, although it can be inconsistent at times. We always order using the mobile app, and decided to do that again on a recent Friday night. Be warned, every single time we order using the app, something isn't to order. This time, they missed our special instructions to add refried beans to one of the burritos. And, they also missed the special instructions to cut the burrito in half. And, I always seem to have to remind the person at the window that orders over $15 get free chips/salsa...it always seems to be news to people who work there. Bottom line: I like the convenience of Roberto's mobile app and their food, but I don't like how unreliable their team is in following the orders they get. Perhaps someone needs to implement a more rigorous training program? read more

After waiting 20 minutes for my breakfast burrito with few customers around, I started to get concerned as 3 customers after me had received their orders. My order finally arrived and I shared this fact with the gentleman behind the register. He became very aggressive and I grabbed my burrito and went home to enjoy it. At home I noticed it was not what I ordered and then I got an added surprise! In addition to the $9 for the burrito, another charge was made to my card of $20!! Rather than return to Roberto's and get more abuse, I decided to take the time to wire this review. I know times are tough and we are all suffering one way or another, two wrongs do not make things right.
