Although I'm skeptical of people and places that try to do too many things at once, I admit that there are occasionally exceptions to that rule. Robin's describes their cuisine as "great food from around the world," and does so with veggie and carnivore friendly options inspired by South East Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The patio out back is exceptionally cute, with tiny white lights twinkling amongst the trellised arbor and warmth emanating from both heaters and vents underneath the tables. There's a Friday night prix fixe option with 3 courses in the neighborhood of $30 or $55 dollars with wine pairings; additionally some of the prix fixe options are available a la carte. I opted for the pork chop served with chanterelles in a bourbon sauce with a side of savory bread pudding ($19). The substantial chop was surprisingly tender and juicy for such a lean cut and the chanterelles were delicious. I'm not a fan of wild mushrooms, but I think that this dish really opened me up to trying them more often. Savory chive-flecked bread pudding was dense and creamy in it's individual ramekin, which kept the dark bourbon sauce from overwhelming it. I also tried the lobster enchiladas blanketed in an unexpectedly spicy green chile tomatillo sauce. Spiciness is too often muted for conservative palates these days, but this dish offered enough spice without masking the delicate sweetness of the lobster. Curried tofu ($13) also provided a balance of spices and flavors that went well with the accompanying nutty brown basmati rice. The wine list offers a number of very reasonably priced local wines. Service is casually considerate, offering suggestions and conversing with customers without being overly intrusive. Robin's is a great place for a date or catching up with old friends. The menu provides something for everyone and offers creative dishes that are rare in a town of overpriced sub-par seafood and pasta houses. We spent a week driving the west-coast on Route 1/ Pacific Coast Highway. We stayed in Cambria since we were going to visit The Hearst Castle the next day. What gem of a restaurant we found. First of all Cambria is a great little town. We rolled in a little late since we checked into our little hotel and caught the sunset. Then we headed into town for something to eat. Robin's was such a great find and one of the best restaurants we ate at all week. The food was incredibly fresh, the service was fantastic, awesome wine selection and they even stayed open later for the tourists that rolled up kinda late...like ourselves. So if you're ever driving the coast line I highly recommend Robin's for dinner or lunch. read more

Love this place! So eclectic, such delicious dishes, I love their curries! They also specialize in vegetarian dishes, asian fusion dishes, seafood, you name it! There is a little bit of everything but they do it right as opposed to my normal opinion of "do a little bit of everything and get it wrong." Very good food and service! Had the grilled naan pizzette for an appetizer and it was very tasty. My cousin, who went with me, ate more than half of it so I wasn't happy about that. The roasted chicken and flat-iron steak dishes were really good. To top it off, I got the trio dessert which included a coconut creme brulee, fruit sorbet, and chocolate mousse. Yummo! My favorite dessert during my entire trip to Cambria. They also make a mean mojito. I highly recommend you get reservations unless you like waiting. This is a very unique place right down town. I would definitely go back there. The waitress wasn't very good. We had to ask her what the specials were, then ask her what the soup of the day was. She didn't know what beers were on tap. I had the goat cheese beet salad. It was ok. My husband had the turkey brie melt on a crossiant. It was awesome. This is another one of our standards whenever we come to Cambria. We love the offerings of both vegan vegetarian and meat dishes. The ethnic twist to so many of the items is superbly done. Weary from my long drive from the LA/OC area, I was looking to treat myself to a good meal. Robin's had the most reviews in the area so I figured why not see what my fellow Yelpers are talking about. The menu had a variety of different fusion type dishes to choose from. When given many choices I tend to be horribly indecisive. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she recommended either the lobster enchiladas or a chicken dish. I didn't feel like chicken that night so I rolled the dice on the enchiladas. She did warn me that it would be a little spicy but I like spicy food (as long as its not overwhelming) so no worries there. What really impressed me was how fresh it tasted. There were actually a decent amount of lobster in it and that's good considering most places usually skimp out on the main ingredient. I didn't care too much for the black beans but then again I'm not a fan of beans. The rice was cooked just right, not too hard or mushy. Oh and it had a little bit of kick to it but nothing to be alarmed about. It's a pretty decent sized portion so I was definitely satisfied but it probably could be split between two people easily. For dessert my waitress recommended the special of the day or the peach sorbet. I went with the special of the day which was a dark chocolate raspberry torte. Rich, sweet, and oh so good! I also got coffee (organic, South African) which was great. I came here for a Wednesday dinner around 6-7 and it wasn't terribly busy. But that instantly changed within 15-20 minutes after I got seated. It's a cozy little place with a patio outside. I'm glad I didn't get seated outside. It was freezing that night! The service here was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. This is one of the very few places that has treated me this well so big thumbs up for that. The sound that I would make when being asked about my meal at Robin's would be "Meh." It was just ok. I was a big fan of the fact that they were still seating people at 9pm on a Friday night, which is a rarity for Cambria, but that is pretty much where my favorable review ends. I ordered the Grilled Sea Bass toasted almond wild rice pilaf, roast local root vegetables, wild mushroom marmalade (of which there wasn't a single mushroom) and Jason had the Free Range Roast Half Chicken farmer's panzanella, garlic mustard butter. Both meals were alright but nothing that we would rush back to order again anytime soon. read more

Loved having dinner at this GEM of a restaurant on a recent visit to the coast. They have meatless Mondays for those who are interested in that. I was there on a regular menu day and got the salmon bisque to start and the Thai Green Chicken for my entree. To sum it up food was excellent, the service was attentive, the prices were reasonable and the ambiance is perfect for a coastal community. I liked this place. The quality is good and the portions are decent. I had the chicken curry salad and the wife had a panini type sandwich. There's care taken with the food regarding both taste and presentation. Unfortunately, we came on a day where they only served a special brunch menu. I was pleased to be eating tempeh for dinner, in a town where fettucini alfredo is the main vegetarian option. The sauce was delicious, the veggies were completely fresh and well-prepared. The tempeh itself tasted of old fry oil at the edges. My dining companion went with their specialty, lobster bisque, which he enjoyed, and a seafood curry, also reportedly good. great little place to grab a bite. we sat out in the enclosed patio. there was a wedding going on outside so the mood was very nice. the servie was great; i must have had 6 cups of coffee. the crab cakes were wonderful. i had the prawn quiles. it was nicely done and just the right portion. our party ended with desert and while i couldnt imagine anything fitting to put on top of quiles, the tiramisu did the trick. cambria is a great town, robin's is a great place to fill up before you trek up and down main street. read more

We decided to have lunch here before heading home. We both had the salmon bisque as a starter. It was good, creamy and with large pieces of salmon. It wasn't the greatest bisque though. One bowl had a layer of oil on top (like they didnt' stir before ladling the stuff out). I had the turkey sandwich with avocado. Not the greatest or anything to rave about. I could eat here once a week. The husband and I stopped here for dinner for our anniversary. Very cute and quaint restaurant. We sat out in the garden patio with the heaters blasting. We started out with the crispy vietnamese lumpia. It was very tasty with the cold kymchee on the side. My husband had the kobe flank steak and I had the lobster enchiladas. Both were wonderful and the portions were decent. He said the steak was very tender. We finished it with the chocolate decadent cake. This was all an orgasmic dinner - soo good that the husband was getting lucky tonight! They have a nice wine list and not too pricey but we happen to just come from Paso Robles area that we brought our own. Corkage fee is $12. Service was great. One thing, make reservations early as I hear this place fills up quick. It's a local spot that lots of people visiting Cambria seem to know about. Much more than a great place for breakfast, the cozy and welcoming restaurant has a stellar wines-by-the-glass list and delicious healthy food. Though we started with the brie, strawberry and balsamic vinegar bruschetta (not so healthy, but exquisite) I had the grilled tofu over root vegetables and it was a comforting, healing dish after a day of gluttonous wine tasting on the Central Coast! Plus sitting on their glassed-in porch with vines growing all around you on a cool ocean-side evening makes you love their bench heaters that warm your toes and bum. read more

Went there for lunch during a very quiet weekday. Parked right in front of the restaurant. Very pretty and pleasant both outside and inside. The lunch items were surprisingly affordable at around $10~12. Both dishes were really good. Got the seafood with pasta, and the salmon bisque with a chicken sandwich. Very amazed at the find. Sat in the patio area with the heaters on. Very nice. Wished we didn't skip the desert. Saw the cakes on the way out, at the entrance of the restaurant. read more

This yummy little spot was recommended to us by the ladies at Best Western in San Simeon and what s wonderful surprise! The host/hostess were a little confused at first even though the we only a few people being waited to be seated, but other than that everything else was GREAT!! Our waitress was fantastic (can't remember her name, but pretty brunette with long braid). This was my first experience with curry and I enjoyed every bite. I ordered the Thai Green Chicken and Daniel ordered the Tandoori Chicken, but the show stopper was the Pumpkin cheesecake with whiskey caramel sauce...holy smokes!!!!! This is one of the best places to eat in Cambria! Cambria is a small quaint coastal California town. The food and the service are really very good. I have taken friends both times and they have requested to come back. We stopped here on Saturday on our way back from our Hearst Castle trip, it was only 6 miles away in a little town & we were starving! We decided on this place because it had good reviews & we were unfamiliar with the area so we thought we'd go with the reviews.... we walked in with 4 people at around 4-5, we seated immediately at the indoor patio looking area which was adorable, really loved the look of the place with the trees going in & out through the walls, glass all around, etc. We all ordered the 3-course meal for $30 which included a small salad (with the most deliciousssss tomatoes in it OMG amazing!), I ordered the Risotto with mushrooms (which was just ok for me, but I was starving so I didn't care) and finally the chocolate raspberry cake (which was just ok too).... Overall, I really loved the look & feel of this place, the small town, the people... It was a nice break from the busy LA life.... We left the restaurant at around 6:30, searched for a coffee shop, found one around the corner, walked there in the freezing cold, and found it closed at 6 which sucked! Food was good but Not amazing. Our server was strange. She was kind of nice but not really. She made us feel rushed when she was talking to us but then again she was extremely slow to come back to our table. The man sitting next to us (who was seated after us) had drink, app, dinner, dessert and paid before we got our dinner. I watched her take care of other tables quickly and with a smile but you could tell she was ignoring some tables too. And we are super nice patient people. Not once did we complain or even say something. We just got engaged so we were in a love bird state. Anyway, other than the spotty service Dinner was good but i wasn't raving about it on the way out. It was rich and light all at the same time! my daughter had the lamb burrito--it was so goo; I really loved the flavors in it! Robin's is a cozy place in Cambria that reminds you of someone's house. The inside is very charming and cozy. The food was also great. I had the Ricotta Ravioli. Robin's has something for everyone, and it's always delicious. We recently went for a casual dinner to celebrate. For some reason, although we eat here on nearly every trip to Cambria, I'm always slightly skeptical about whether Robin's will have what I'm looking for. Well, let me assure you now, they will. No matter whether you enjoy a hearty vegetarian dish, a seafood bisque, or pan fried noodles, the food is as tasty as it is intriguing. On our last venture, we enjoyed potato fennel soup, salmon bisque, an amazing butternut squash lasagna, and Robin's chow, a pan fried noodle dish with veggies, mushrooms and amazing prawns. I added a little Sambal (of course they had it) to the toss and found myself oo'ing and ahhhing all night. The wine list has a great selection of local wines, and their beer list is top notch, with enough diversity to satisfy any sipper. We finished with afogato and left delighted.
