The menu is huge and a bit overwhelming with the tortas, so I played it safe with a Carne Asada based torta called A. Pavon. I live about 1/2 mile away. They said delivery would take an hour and it arrived in 25 minutes. It would be easy for the sandwich to get all messed up in transit, but it was pristine and beautiful. I ordered the large torta, and it was perfect to fill me up. There's a dozen mexican places right down the street on Clark, and this is a good choice. read more

Stumbled upon this restaurant while riding my bike. Seemed very authentic. It looked like Fortas were very popular because almost everyone had them. My friend and I went for the tacos though. I had the steak tacos and my friend got steak tacos and tacos al pastor. Steak tacos were seasoned well, but a bit greasy. Toppings were very fresh. My friend said that the pork tacos were good. We both agreed we'd go back if we were in the area. Prices were very cheap. 6 tacos (2 with cheese) for a total of $12! Place is small and got a bit crowded with some live music. Rocky's tortas are the bomb! Always super-tasty, and the bread they put them on is fantastic. The regular size is HUGE - don't go for the upgrade unless you are in a serious power eating mood. Pretty sure i'm addicted to their red mole torta.

I had high hopes based on recommendations of this place. I placed an order online through Yelp for pick up. Long story short I specifically asked no onions and was surprised the inside of my chicken enchiladas was 70% onion 30% chicken that looks like it was dog food. I believe I should have been called or contacted through Yelp that it wasn't possible to remove onions. So worst $13 I ever spent. I don't recommend it at this point maybe I'll give them another shot though I'm not suspecting I will. read more

This has to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in Chicago. I haven't eaten at their place yet only delivery. Their menu is soooo long! Some of the menu items are named after Mexican soccer players, and some are just hilarious! I haven't ordered it yet, but my next will be the "F@*K You Referi" If you can't find something to eat here maybe you should reconsider your cuisine for the night. Although, I wouldn't want you to do that because you'll miss out on the awesomeness that is Rockys Taco's. Not only is the food good, but I was just contacted by them about my order. Something happened and they couldn't read it that well. Normally, (at least in my experience) when a restaurant calls they tend to be unfriendly, rushed or just, well..... stupid and insincere when talking to you. I didn't get that. I'm very disappointed. I requested No Onions and tacos had 2 types of onions on them. Additionally, The milkshake arrived with the consistency of water. The way the milkshake was packaged was on top of the hot meal. Of course, it would melt. Otherwise, the tacos were amazing. Best I have ordered. Rocky's tacos 7043 n clark Rocky's was our 12th stop on our journey north on clark, between devon and howard. The torta (Mexican sandwich) is the specialty here. Upon sitting we were given your typical chips, along with green and red salsas, and a super spicy little serving of pico. The chips were obviously store bought. Hard and thick. Bleh. The green salsa had a good, salty, spicy flavor. The red was hot and smoky. Chipotle. Husband felt the pico was too spicy for its own good. Too much jalapeno. And he appreciates spice. I got a large horchada. It was unlike any horchada I've had on clark. It contained no discernable cinnamon. It tasted more like vanilla pudding than anything else. It wasn't bad. Just different. The interior is kind of fun. There's a cabinet displaying soccer awards. There's a huge mural on one wall with 3D soccer balls popping out from it. There are glittery tablecloths on the tables in different colors. Friendly and bright, with cheerful Spanish language music on loud, but not too loud. I ordered a torta (the americanista?) with carne asada, cheese and chorizo. Husband got a torta (la leonosa?) with ribeye and onion. The sandwiches really do look like footballs. Big and oblong. The bread is toasted. They come with lettuce, mayo, a splash of hot sauce, a little bit of avocado. Husband was hoping the ribeye would come in one piece, but no. it was chopped. He appreciated the flavor, but didn't like all of the gristle. And he's not usually sensitive about these things. There was gristle in mine too, but it was tender enough to disappear amidst the rest of the innards. And I AM usually sensitive about gristle. The chorizo was spicy, but not overwhelming. It was nice. And so big that I couldn't finish it. Husband took 1/2 of his home. That might be, in part, though, because he also tried 2 tacos. We felt we had to compare their tacos to the others we've tried on clark. Glad we did. The pastor was lovely. Not too gristly. Great nutmeg flavor. With onion and cilantro on top. Excellent. the picadillo was good too. As husband put it 'pretty much what I want when I want a taco.' Topped with lettuce and tomato. We ordered some guacamole to round out the meal. And it proved to be the star of the show. Creamy and chunky with a great flavor. We took 1/2 of it home to savor later. Overall it was a positive experience. To quote my husband once again, "if I'm ever feelin grubbin I would definitely come back here." Rocky's almost earns 4 stars, mostly on the strength of its tacos and guac. This is the place to pop your torta cherry if you haven't already and you're a gringa like me. The bread-oh so soft and delicious! I work in a bakery, so that's saying something. The unbelievable combination of meats, cheese, pineapple, veggies, sauce, and spices is unmatched with any other food on this planet. There's a million options to choose from, but if you close your eyes and point to something on the menu, you will not be disappointed. The horchata is creamy and delicious and I don't care if it comes from a bag or a package-it's effing good. Also, their fries are the slightly seasoned battered kind, which is the best kind in case you were unaware. I have never had their tacos because I don't give a shit about tacos in a place that delivers a gigantic cheesy melty sandwich the size of a football. read more

Fantastic!! Amazing chicken milanesa tortas! I am not like most that just eats Mexican anywhere - I want quality meats and sauces with flavor - Rocky's Tacos fits the bill. Great service, all the servers are kind and keep up with their tables. My husband is tough on on his tacos - he wants real meat and flavor again Rocky's did him in - this is our go to spot in Roger's and Edgewater. We live in Edgewater and have 10 places in walking distance we drive to Rocky's instead we love the staff, the food, the restaurant is decent inside always clean. Only drawback no parking but always parking on the street in the evenings. Would like to see better chips (the chips taste burned and dry - this place could do better I am sure of it) and a pico de gallo without the ham on top (must be a regional thing) - we don't eat pork so that is wasted and I always forget to tell them not to bring it to the table. Oh well small issue. Overall you should try them out. Good for families and crowds large enough. FYI Music can be VERY loud at times - grandparents did not approve. read more

This used to be mine and my bfs favorite place to come and get delicious tortas, we came back after a few weeks the store a few stores down burned. Well we wanted to come and enjoy the tortas after coming from the McCormick auto show, we came and sat down normally they give you chips and salsa. Well we sat down and this waitress (black curly hair with glasses) didn't even acknowledge us, my bf had to get up and ask for a menu. The girl then came and asked us if we were ready to order, mind us we had to our own menu. We said we needed a couple mins, she didn't even ask us if we wanted to drink anything I had to tell her what I wanted, she went and got my drink. Once she came back I had to tell her if she was going to offer my bf something she just said yes and looked at him. We just decided to order to go. Don't get me wrong the food is good here but they honestly just need to get better waitresses that aren't on their phone, or flirting with their customers. It will make a huge difference! Ordered from them on Grubhub, the order was fast and was correct when delivered. Took about half an hour to receive living half a mile away. Ordered the platter of 15 tacos for $26(? Give or take a dollar or so, can't remember exact number). The website said you had to call the restaurant after you place the order to tell them the up to two flavors for the platter. I just put it in the notes on Grubhub and it came how I wanted. The tacos were very good! Simple tacos with just cilantro, onions and lime. We got half chicken half steak. The steak was amazing the chicken could use improving. The chicken was a tiny bit flavorful, but was not the best cut of meat, was mainly dark nasty pieces of chicken. Came with a side of green and red salsas. Another down side is the upcharge on Grubhub but what can you do about that? You want food delivered to you fast, that's what you've got to pay. It fed us three (two being very hungry men) and we were all full trying to get someone to eat the last two tacos. Will definitely order again when I'm craving tacos! read more

I had never been to this establishment and thought it would be good to check out. I have been next door to El Famous and know their food well. There was some confusion as to weather I was dinning in or taking it to go and my waitress grabbed the green and red salsa placed it on my table. I ordered a steak burrito with beans and rice. The food was pretty good, but not as flavorful as El Famous. The fountain diet Pepsi I was given was bad.......i.e., meaning the syrup was out of date/code. I did detect some discrimination by the waitress not giving me complementary chips and salsa. Overall the price was higher than El Famous and the service was dismal.
