A big shoutout to Steph at Rod's Steak House in Williams, Arizona! Our family had a wonderful dinner, and everything was absolutely delicious. Steph provided outstanding service--friendly, attentive, and always on point with great recommendations. The food came out quickly and was amazing. If you're in Williams, we highly recommend stopping by Rod's Steak House!

They claim to be the best on Route 66 and they may just be. Steph was our server and a fine one at that. Loved the authentic vibe and it was a convenient walk from our hotel, both of which were about an hour and some change from the Grand Canyon South Rim. The French dip was epic!

Staff was friendly. Prices reasonable. Dad loved his meatloaf. My Aunt's steak was cooked exactly as ordered. Chicken was crispy and juicy. I think seasoning could be better on the food. The corn bread or side bread was fresh with some flavored butter. Would come back again

Walked in without reservations and was seated right away! Excellent service and the food was delish! I'll be stopping by again when I'm in town!!

Ma's Fried Chicken and Biscuit

Were it not for the super staff and my biscuit I would have likely given them a 3. Our super nice hostess gave us a brief overview of the history of Rod's on the way to our table but unfortunately she discovered it had not been cleaned yet so we had to wait a couple of minutes.  Then, as I pulled my chair out I noticed a dirty napkin and bits of food on the floor under the table.  Not a big deal but first impressions are lasting.   We were seated under the AC duct up in the loft area and besides being a very cold spot to sit, it quickly made my french fries (that arrived luke warm) completely inedible.  The fried chicken was VERY good and my biscuit with honey was amazing.  My wife got salad with salmon and enjoyed it. The service was very fast which makes me wonder why my fries were not hot.

Filet mignon with baked potato.

One of the best New York strip streaks I ever had. The meat was so fresh and there was no need to spice my meal with some steak sauce

The rolls and potato was great but the ribeye steak must have been a utility grade. Cooked a nice medium rare but could not chew it!

The space still has that nice rustic charm with plenty of seating inside and outside on their nice patio. Ordering, however, has changed. Beers, cocktails, nonalcoholic beverages, cans to-go, and food is all ordered up at the bar. There was 1 lone employee working the bar; taking orders, pouring beers, mixing cocktails, and closing people out at the register. This was so incredibly inefficient, particularly on such a busy day. I stood in line 3 separate times (once to initially order two pints, a second time to order a flight of other beers we wanted to taste, and a final time to purchase two cans to-go and close out my tab); each time in line took between 15-25 minutes. The girl behind the bar was very friendly and she was working as quickly as possible while maintaining a relatively happy attitude, but boy did I feel bad for her. Management really messed this up; someone needed to step in and help. With such a big celebration in town that day, there needed to be a minimum of 3 employees manning the bar to take orders and get drinks. As for the beer itself, as usual it's just average. Great if you're looking for something cold to enjoy, but not memorable if you're a craft beer nerd. We went in knowing what the quality would be, but still wanted to try all the new beers since we hadn't been in a couple of years. We didn't eat while there, but in the past when we have, the food is good. The knock of two stars was simply for the horrible management of orders. I don't know when they decided to get rid of waiters and put all the pressure onto the bartender, but geez what an awful decision that was.

It was around 6 pm on a Wednesday and there were only about 6 guest in the restaurant. We were seated immediately and our server, a very polite young man( first day as a server) took our drink orders. He came quickly with our drinks and took our order. We ordered potato skins for an appetizer, they were good, not great. A little bland but they were huge! My wife ordered the St Louis Ribs which were the special for the day. She said they were delicious. Our son ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. He ate every bite. Said it was real good. I ordered the 8 oz sirloin which was cooked perfect. I also had mashed potatoes and gravy which were delicious as well. The gravy had an awesome taste. The food was great, the young man ( and woman) who waited on us were great ( very attentive), the only drawback was it was a little pricey, but so close to the Grand Canyon I can see why. Great job team.

I also had their Arizona sunset tea cocktail, that wasn't half bad so only had one then switched to Arnold Palmers. I had their Arizona salmon with wild rice and Seasonal veggies (greenbeans) My salmon was good but also VERY dry so the bartender brought me out some of their bourbon glaze. Not that glaze was amazing and definitely help add life to My fish. We may go back for drinks cause Cass the bartender was amazing but probably not eat there again.

Self-serve your drinks and before you know it you have food. My wife had Ceasar salad and was pleasantly surprised to find it contained halved cherry tomatoes. A salad is a salad, unless it's bad. You rarely notice if good, but this one was. A perfect salad lunch for her. My daughter had spaghetti and meatballs. She loved it. We're usually picky about Italian food and rarely order it from a non Italian place, but we've been on the road and she was starving. From the first bite she was hooked. Bursting with flavor, certainly part pork and full of herbs. Clearly made in house. My son and I split a margarita pizza and it hit hard. Paper thin. For dinner we'd need one each, but for lunch splitting it was perfect. Great flavor top to bottom. The paper thin crust, the tangy sauce, and good quality cheese topped with a generous amount of fresh basil. Bonus for the red hot sauce (green tasted artificial) which I grabbed a spoon to taste with as soon as we sat down, I love hot sauce. And for the classic rock playlist. Highly recommend for a quick meal.

I enjoyed one beer and their Smokey Old Fashioned. Both were excellent! The food, however, was pretty standard, average bar food. We had nachos and pizza we split as a family. It was just average. I had an amazing time but the service was lacking a bit the night we went (waiter forgot my side of broccoli, it was hard to flag down a waiter for a second round of drinks, the soda machines ran out of ice, etc.) But even with the slight challenges, I had a blast browsing their merchandise store in the front, and even left with a few shirts.

The big fireplace and water stream make it feel so cozy. As we usually do, we saddled up at the bar. Service was okay; bartender seemed tired and wasn't overly friendly. He was fairly attentive though which was nice. We each ordered 2 pints of beer; Sacred Saguaro Mexican Lager, Haute Lager, Beach Camp Honey Kolsch, and the Prickly Pear IPA. If you're a craft beer enthusiast like my husband and I, you'll find their beers to be about average quality, but still hits the spot after a long day outside. For dinner, I ordered the Caprese Chicken Sandwich ($15) which was quite good with a large piece of grilled chicken and a soft bun; I'd order this again! My husband had the Beast Brat ($15) and thoroughly enjoyed it. We then ordered a basket of tater tots to share ($5) and it was a huge portion; we almost needed a 3rd person to help haha. We then ordered dessert to go - Sweet Fry Bread ($10) which curbed our sweet craving when we got back to the hotel. Overall, everything we ate was honestly very good; however, I will say for the price, the sandwiches and brats should automatically come with a side of fries or tots. For a la carte handhelds, I feel the price should have been $12 each. The sweet fry bread was also a very small portion for the price which also left us feeling a price point of $6 would've been more appropriate. Despite our small issue with the price point and so-so service, we'll be back. Can't go to Grand Canyon NP without stopping into Grand Canyon Brewing for an ice cold beer and maybe some food too.
