I would probably rate this place 2.5 stars. My waitress was really nice and gave a couple of recommendations but disappeared. Someone else delivered the food, which is no big deal but then no one checked during the meal. Finally, after waiting a while for the bill and a box, a manager I assume went table to table checking on people. He managed to flag her down from closing duties although it was 7:30pm. The food was definitely not that great. Ordered a pizza which was half off since it was a Tuesday. It wasn't worth the half off price. The sauce tastes like it came out of a jar of Ragu. The pizza had a very light bake on it with the cheese on top hardly melted, not browned at all, it was still pretty solid under the top layer of cheese where it wasn't melted. Mmm mmm mmm. That's how I feel about how delicious the all you can eat perch is on Thursday's. This place has the best all you can eat service where they bring you fresh hot portions. Twas a little busy inside which is great, but our server was super sweet and right on point making sure we were always good with everything. Another male server was equally just as kind and in point with making us feel comfortable and taken care of. They treated us like we were first class celebrities. After bringing us 5 servings each after the first 4 piece serving with fries and these magical green beans, we tapped out and took the leftovers home. The picture I posted is of the last 2 piece serving they brought me. That's a big ass tub of tarter sauce for size comparison. Perch was cooked perfectly and tasted great without the lemon or tarter sauce too since I tried it like that right off the bat. Fries were super great also but those magical green beans, booooy I could have eaten all 3 plates of them they brought the 3 of us! Green beans are my least favorite vegetable over ANY other vegetable besides lime beans. These were so good that I almost forgot about the perch and fries. I like this place. Looking through the compendium of Yelp reviews, it would seem that I'm in the minority on that. But everybody says how busy they are and it's almost always been busy when I've come here, which has almost always been in the fall to feast and watch baseball playoffs. There's something real autumny about this place somehow. It's pretty big but still manages to be very homey. But back to peoples' complaints - Roger's Roost is perhaps a classic victim of it's own success? Service isn't the quickest, but hey, you can go grab yourself some popcorn while you're waiting. Go look at yourself in the crazy circus mirror. The people watching is really good, too, which I like since there's a lot of lulls and breaks in baseball. I think I may have seen most of the people who wrote Yelp reviews and most of the people they butched about in just a handful of visits. Going here is almost like getting in touch with my East side Suburban roots, even though I grew up closer to Shores Inn. I come here alone cause, well, I go just about everywhere alone. Cause I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel. But I never feel super neglected by the staff. I let them know I'm patient and they take care of me. And I can usually sneak into a booth or table where I can watch the baseballs, but sometimes I have to go to the bar which is large and often understaffed. I never mind too much but the Roost probably isn't a good place to go if you're in a hurry. The food is decent, but nothing spectacular. Fish is good. I had a really good pasta here once. I had steak on my last visit and it was kind of meh. It could have used more than one side, too. And it makes me happy that they use food runners, too, if for nothing more than the fact that I'm a long time foodrunner. They had a covers band called Under the Covers playing the last time I went, this past Saturday night. They started with Toto's Africa, then played some Doobie Brothers and a bunch of other 70s and 80s pop rock. The acoustics aren't the best and I definitely could have done with the cover of Ice Ice Baby but they weren't half bad for a band I didn't have to pay a cover charge for. They were actually a good counterpoint to the baseball game and the drunk loud mouth with the crocheted-beer-can-labels-attached-by-yarn hat and the T-shirt that read "25 YEARS AGO WE HAD RONALD REAGAN, BOB HOPE AND JOHNNY CASH. NOW WE HAVE OBAMA, NO HOPE AND NO CASH". He was very amusing to watch from 4 stools away but if he had been sitting next to me? Not so much. On weekends staff allow alcohol to be over served to patrons 10 to 15 drinks (shots) each, food quality declines, and atmosphere devolves to loud drunks shouting across long tables. No fights or aggressive behaviors by patrons just people having fun at the end of the week and getting drunk and fed. read more

I will have to say I have been going to Rodger's for years I love the pizza. The environment is great for families and friends to get together for any occasion. It's been a long time since I ate at Roger's Roost. After our experience last week, I doubt I'll return. We stopped here with our son, his girlfriend, and my brother. we started with the French onion soup, which was nothing special, but at least it wasn't too salty. Then on to the main courses. That was when things fell apart. My brother had an okay personal pizza. I had the walnut chicken salad, and my spouse had the walnut chicken meal. Both of our chicken pieces were overcooked. They were dry and pretty chewy. The coating was so close to burnt that it was hard to discern any flavor in the meat at all. My son and his friend ordered the rib special, which was a full slab and a half. . My son started to eat the full slab, and after starting the first rib, he pronounced it "bad". His friend swapped her half slab with him, and that was a different cut, with more meat. It was okay, but not great. His friend barely touched the full slab of what looked like baby back ribs. While they did ask for a box, they left it in our fridge by accident (or so I thought) later. I tried the ribs two days later, knowing they would never get them in time for the ribs to be edible. Our son had it right, the ribs were BAD, as in tasting spoiled. If he had made that comment at the restaurant, I would have told him to send them back. Not worth going there to eat, which is too bad. Still not totally impressed with this place. I know they do a couple things well but I feel like it used to be a lot better here. My friend and I met here for a quick dinner and drinks after work and it was super busy which is good for them! There was definitely a good atmosphere in there. We each got a beer and we ordered mozzarella sticks which were very good. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad for dinner. The dressing was definitely not Caesar, more like just vinegar and oil, it was not creamy or flavorful at all. My friend got the steak tips which she seemed to enjoy. My husband had been here before but I had not till yesterday. She even had another girl bring us the bill we didn't see her again besides her walking around the bar area. As I was leaving because of this lack of service, I asked to talk to a manager.He preceded to tell me that there was not enough staff, but there was because I've been there many times before there was far less staff and better service. This is the first time I've been the Rogers Roost in probably 15 years. 30 years ago I used to come here all the time with coworkers. I still have my boomba card, I considered digging it out and seeing if it still worked. My wife and the other couple we were with enjoyed our food and beverages. We received the right amount of attention from our server, she didn't hover, but showed up when she was needed. It is a standby sports bar that has been in Macomb County for many years. It has been a few years since I've been to Rogers Roost. I took the wife and kids for lunch midweek and the most I can say about the food was it was ok. The food was pricey for what you get. However the service was very good and we all enjoyed the "dated" decor. The kids enjoyed looking around and pointing out the different unique pieces of decor. Today was different, though. Today there was Jack. And evidently a new cook. We made sure to tell the host (manager?) that we were on lunch so that hopefully it would expedite the process. In our past experiences, lunch here was around a two day process. We were seated immediately, waited on by a very efficient, comical and competent Jack and our food was good! This is a place my wife and I frequented a long time ago. We decided to try it again. We were seated in the bar area and it was LOUD LOUD LOUD, so we asked to be moved. We then were in the restaurant area which seemed much quieter, for a few minutes. Soon there were kids playing games and screaming at the top of their lungs making it very uncomfortable to even have a conversation. It was beyond belief !!! We had a great young lady for a server. It was obvious she had her hands full. I ordered chips and queso as an appetizer. It was the worst queso I've ever tasted. It was actually bitter - like it was spoiled or something. They need to fix their recipe. This was horrible. For our meal, I ordered a perch dinner (it was on special that night). Along with that I got mashed potatoes. The perch was really decent....not the best I've ever had, but it was definitely edible and tasty. The mashed were actually smashed potatoes and they were really great. I loved them. My wife ordered a Chicken Pretzel BLT without cheese and of course they screwed it up by adding cheese. She also ordered a baked potato and they brought her mashed. We know it wasn't the waitresses fault because we saw he write it down and she read the order back to us. It will be a long while before we return to Rogers Roost. If I could possibly leave NO STARS I would! And after this review I'm calling the BBB on this company. First of all there was a hair in my food and I immediately stopped eating after finishing half a plate. Then after 10 minutes I felt sick and threw up leaving the restaurant. Not to mention when I was there I used the ATM that they OWN and is FILLED by them and it spit out $40 but one $20 had a rip in it ripping 1/4 the bill off and one $20 was fine. I have my receipt for the transaction by the way. The manager would not accept the ripped $20 for payment for my meal even though it came from his own, OWNEd and private ATM, and persisted to give me a number of the ATM business. Well I called them and they told me that the restaurant fills the ATM and it's their own ripped $20 and they are responsible for it and could not help me. So I called back and spoke to the manager. The entire conversation he over spoke me and would not let me speak saying that If the edge of the bill was in the machine he would give it to me but if not I was out of luck.I tried to tell him this was my last $20 to my name and can't feed myself until I get paid in two days. He just kept screaming. I'm calling the Better Business Bureau on this company in the morning for their food poisoning as well as the huge ATM fiasco, that was your broken $20 and my money on my debit card was not broken but your store took my money and gave me faulty money in exchange and until it is rectified this review will persist to stay on yelp forever. And if I don't hear from you by 9 am I will be calling the BBB and honestly would call the cops if they would help out! Because I have to go without food for using your atm and I got sick and got verbally abused all at the same trip to Rodgers Roost.
