Toppings: banana, strawberry, blueberry, hemp granola, almond butter, honey, cinnamon. I'm a bit of a food-snob when it comes to bowls. This one was good. The strawberries were exceptionally tasty and cut well- thinly sliced. I placed my order on-line, through Mood Bowls. The location for pick-up is a place called Rolling Zone Creamery. I've driven past Rolling Zone hundreds of times and seen it on DoorDash, finally got the opportunity to try it. I'm happy that I did! Husband and I devoured our order (So I didn't get to take a photo). I ordered the paradise bowl I saw from DoorDash but replaced the passion fruit for mango + the coconut sorbet for the base. The young lady, Aisha, was truly helpful. Informed me about the possibilities for toppings! I loved the almond granola + coconut shavings. Got a medium to share! I understand wait time because other orders require them to craft rolls from scratch and it's not just scooping ice cream from a bucket onto a cone and calling it a day. It's a place where individual ingredients are crafted per order. I know customers can be impatient due to the fast paste places they frequent. I have always enjoyed coming to rolling zone because the ice cream is delicious! Today I had to wait more than 45 minutes for ice cream. Keep in mind the store was not full what so ever. The three workers all had attitudes. I witnessed one particular worker be rude to a child asking for a lid. Apparently they had dropped my little brother's ice cream and had to remake it. I am so happy that I got to try this place finally. I came here after the wait at cold Stone was too long and I'm happy that that ended up happening because the ice cream here was delicious! I will admit that there is a little bit of a wait but it is honestly not too bad. I was a bit overwhelmed with the menu or if one was able to create their own but I ended up going with one of the premade options. Let me note, when you pick something that has the word chocolate and overload or explosion you expect chocolate ice cream but my ice cream base was not. So that is the only downfall of my experience. The guy who made my kids rolled ice cream was in so much hurry and did not mix the ice cream real well. It was still in liquid form and he already served it. Still amazing; as you can probably tell from the number of check-ins, I frequent this place way too much. The traffic in this store is still the same-- typically there is quite a rush from Thur-Sun evening right before closing, but during any other time during the week, they seem to be okay. My favourite flavour for the past few weeks has been the cereal flavour with Lucky Charms. But I would say, anything from their menu is fantastic. Really, give them a visit! Ordered Taro rolled ice-cream and S'mores rolled ice-cream. I like the texture as it was creamy, and it was not too sweet. The S'mores was great as the crackers and marshmallows were blended into the ice-cream. The recommendation for Taro is that, it would be a good combination if it was with Oreo or some kind of crunch. I personally think that Taro and Oreo are the perfect combination. They could revisit the combos and make them a better combination (that's why I deduct 1star). Customer service (5/5): Once I addressed wanting the Oreo to the taro ice-cream, staff was friendly and added one to accommodate my needs. I was happy with my visit. Great addition to the South Bay. Tucked right behind CVS, Rolling Zone Creamery is a small store that serves açaí, smoothies, mangonada, and of course - ice cream. The two workers (they're brothers!) are super friendly and detail oriented. I like that they didn't make me feel rushed when ordering and they were able to customize my order (e.g. I wanted less chocolate syrup on my Rocky Road rolled ice cream). Rocky Road was yummy. Here's a nifty ice cream joint that you should put on your list of places to patronize. Rolled ice cream is somewhat alluring and the process by which those rolls are created is kind of cool...even cooler is the finished bowl of rolls complete with whipped cream, a wafer and a topping of some sort. A Yelp photo opportunity for sure. A belly filling, cold and tasty dessert you bet! As the weather gets warmer and the days get longer I can easily see this little shop getting busier get busier. The menu has options that will satisfy your sweet craving, but you can customize your own masterpiece too. I tend to ask the ice cream experts (those behind the counter) for their favorite then I tell them to make that with the volume turned up. This usually means the finished product is a work of art and damn delicious too. Been here four times and really wouldn't have known it was here if not for that large banner on the corner advertising açaí bowls, they actually work. This plaza isn't very busy and the main stores are CVS and a bank, now finally I can stop in this plaza for something worthwhile. We have yet to try the rolled ice cream in a cup, I'm sure it's good, but the Acai bowls are excellent. They even have Pitaya bowls which are really good. I recommend the Guava bowl with Pitaya = granola, bananas, blueberries, strawberries. The tropical bowl is also good but unfortunately I don't remember what's in it. My boyfriend introduced me to this gem in the neighborhood two years ago and I love it . I'm hooked on their coffee roll and their Nutella shake is delicious . I was craving roll up ice cream and decided to try this place since it was close by. They have a huge menu with lots of options but I LOVE matcha so I had to pick it. I picked my own toppings (graham crackers, caramel sauce and whipped cream) and chose to keep the Oreos mixed in. My husband got their Horchata. His only comment was that he would've loved some chocolate syrup on it but I thought it was fine as it. Overall it tasted really great! I would've loved a smaller size since there is SO much ice cream and it's really filling but I guess I'll just have more for tomorrow. The employees were friendly and worked on our order super fast! The store closes at 10pm I had walked in the store at 9:45 pm and one of the staff members (short lady with a pony tail ) she immediately looked at watched and looked at us after five minutes she told us I'll be with you guys shortly. After having us wait for her until 9:55pm she comes and help us out at the counter which then she looks down at her watch looks at us and says what would you like to order we tried to order a tropical smoothie after that she sigh then says it's going to take 10 -15 min we said it's okay she sighs again and we tell her is there a problem she goes well the store is going to close keep in mind we had already been standing there and she had already acknowledge us. I'll be honest. When we pulled up I wondered why there was no one else there(Thursday night 30-40mins before closing). I was skeptical. After us a few people came in. (One of the customers said she had come 3x's this week. She recommended the matcha and mango. ) Husband: Tropical Mango Nice and light. The vanilla base + real mango and topped with more fresh mango, mango popping boba, whipped cream and a wafer. It was very refreshing and even less sweet than the regular vanilla which I really liked bc the vanilla was actually a little too sweet for me. Kids: Vanilla topped with graham crackers and whipped cream. Nice and creamy. Basic but good. They're picky what can I say. The graham crackers were nice and crunchy. The vanilla itself was nice and creamy without being overbearing. If I got ice cream I would've gotten the cookies and cream or strawberry. They had a very good selection of toppings and choices. I like how all the descriptions are easy to read and listed upfront. Very clean establishment. I didn't see a restroom for the little ones. You cannot go wrong with the food here. I've tried several of their ice creams, they're all amazing. The rolled ice cream itself is terrific, but my favorite is their bowls. You have to try the different açaí bowls they have. You can even make a custom bowl. The overall space is nice with plenty of seating. They don't have too many employees and each order is made one by one so expect to wait. It takes a while for them to make the rolled ice cream or bowl so please by patient. read more

Wow! This was super Duper fun! My first time here, and I went with a 98-year-old friend on the advice of someone we had just met. We decided to have "an adventure". What fun! I had the Rocky Road, with almonds instead of peanuts. I had no idea what I was in for. I thought I was just going to get a scoop of ice cream! I am going to try to include my video here... The service is good, and product knowledge along with customer service explaining the process and ingredients (what comes in each named combination) is excellent. The ice cream, if that's what you call it, is great, it tastes wonderful. Where this place lacks a little bit yet gets the "A-OK" rating, which to me is a nice ranking, is in the value. The price is a bit high at over $7, and the portions are okay, filling, but knowing you can go to a supermarket and get a gourmet pint of ice cream on sale for about half this amount, or a quart or half gallon of generic ice cream for the same price makes the comparison a bit eye opening. Sure, these are cute and tasty novelties, rolled up and with a custom blended mix, but at the end of the day it's an ice cream desert. The process is like a show, it's visually interesting, but it does take a little while as opposed to just scooping and serving quickly. I think the right price point for this is around $4. The add on toppings (and by the way if you do a YELP CHECK-IN you get 2 free toppings, priced I think at $0.50 each, so you get a $1 value for FREE just to checking in via Yelp) The parking is easy, and the location isn't in the best part of the South Bay, on the cusp of the Hawthorne / Lawndale area, so the demographics of the residents is a tad different than Redondo, Hermosa and Manhattan beach cities. I'd recommend this place however if you can afford it and like the novelty. The ice cream deserts are tasty. read more

[Review #225] My daughter had her flu shot earlier today, & was running errands with me. I decided to reward her courage by treating her to some rolled ice cream. It's finally fall so I hoped there weren't any lines at Rolling Zone Creamery since the weather has started to cool. The shop was airy, open, & brightly lit with several round tables as well as bar seating against the wall. The simple menu (listing only the name & its base) was directly behind the register where you order. I had to ask what were the included toppings since it wasn't listed, but you can find both the base & toppings on their website's menu. The rolled ice creams start at $6.99 & additional toppings are 50¢ each such as flavored wafers, pockys, & popping bobas; fruits, rainbow jelly, Oreos, graham crackers, etc., with rainbow & chocolate sprinkles, & condensed milk at 15¢ each. Syrups are free: Hershey's Caramel, Chocolate, or Strawberry, & cherry syrup. After perusing the menu, H settled on the Cherry Blast. It comes with an organic base, cherry syrup, cherry maraschino & topped with whipped cream, vanilla wafer, a maraschino cherry & cherry syrup. A Yelp check-in gives you 2 free toppings, so she added gummy bears & strawberry popping bobas. Our ice cream mixologist was seasoned so our ice cream was quickly made even with a family of 5 that just ordered before we did. Only the base was organic as well as plain, but once the maraschino cherries & cherry syrup was added, it really tasted like cherry ice cream. I can't say all their ingredients are natural or fresh with the exception of the fruits, but the end product had better flavor than other rolled ice creams that I've had. Also, Rolling Zone Creamery's are "creamier" & richer than other rolled ice creams. Is it because of the organic base? I'm not sure, but it certainly tastes better. =) Like other rolled ice cream shops, flavors & toppings are standard fare with minor variations. Like I mentioned before, pricing is comparable to other creameries, but its value is questionable. You're basically paying for the "show" of making your rolled ice cream, which I'm debating if it's justified for the price (of a quart's worth elsewhere). RZC has 3 rolling stations so it helps shorten wait times especially during the summer since it takes time to mix & roll the ice cream, & clean the station in-between orders. RZC is strictly focused on rolled ice cream. There's no rolled ice cream tacos, scooped ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, or other frozen treats here -- rolled ice cream ONLY. What sets them apart is their plain organic base with the exception of their Matcha-Matcha, whereas other shops use an already flavored base (i.e. chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, etc.), so the blending of ingredients create the ice cream flavors, & that makes a better tasting ice cream. If you plan to be a regular customer, plug in your number to their "frequent guest system" to earn points for free RIC... no more carrying frequent guest cards (or forgetting them). =) Rolled ice cream is a splurge... but if/when we are craving RICs, we are definitely rollin' over to Rolling Zone Creamery.
