I got a sales flyer from Rollings Automotive over the weekend. We need to replace the front pads on our Hyundai Santa Fe and the ad offered "Free Service Front or Rear Premium Brake Pads Labor not included ($89 Value)". I checked their reviews and was impressed. I called Monday May 11, 2026 about 4:30. A guy called back a short time later and I told him I had just received the new Rollings ad with the free pads offer. He said that the pads where a $200 value. I asked if those were lifetime warranty pads. He said no, they had a 1 year warranty. I told him i used to own my own auto shop and had been a mechanic all my life. (I am 82+). I know what premium lifetime warranty pads cost. I moved on. After we sold I our shop I have replaced brake pads in our driveway for our and our kids cars. I found the Auto Zone Duralast lifetime warranty pads Web page for our car - $24.95. In spite of the consoling words in the Rollings ad, people should know about this encounter. I did not find out how much Rollings charged for brake pad replacement labor. We never treated one single customer like that. read more

He went thru the entire vehicle made recommendations and did superior work that wasn't as costly as I thought it would be. An absolutely SHOCKING customer experience ;TLDR Took my car for diagnostic and repair. Was quoted over $1000 for parts and labor. When I asked for some detail or clarification regarding one of the repair items, I was given a surly, grumpy response with zero help or information. To further add salt to this wound, my car was returned to me in worse condition than I left it. My advice, steer well clear of Rollings. Terrible customer service, terrible attitude, awful people. Full Review I have been a customer of Rollings for a few years, having taken my Trailblazer for regular maintenance and repair. The work had always been satisfactory, and I had only ever dealt with Kimberly in the front office. My wifes Mini had recently began overheating. I always like to see if I can fix the simple things myself first, so before taking the car in, I took a look under the hood. Upon closer inspection the fan was not spinning, obviously the root issue. I hit the internet to do my due diligence. Two common causes are the resistor on the fan, and the coolant temperature sensor can stop the fan turning on. With that info I removed some of the hoses and cables and other obstacles in the engine bay to get to the fan electrical connector. By applying 12v current to the fan directly, the fan spun up - at both hi-speed and lo-speed settings - that indicated the fan motor itself was working. With the coolant sensor now unobstructed, I chose to replace it now before reinstalling all the hoses and cables. Unfortunately, the new sensor did not cure the fan not spinning up. So it looks like the resistor is the issue. At this point I realised I had to take the car to a pro. I decided to take the Mini to Rollings. They had done satisfactory work for me before and they are walking distance to my house. So I can drop the car off and walk home. Easy. So I explain to the young girl taking my details all the steps I had taken so far, I give her the part number of the sensor I replaced, and leave her the keys. With the car in the care of the pro's I walk home. The next day I get a call from Rollings and I was informed of the recommended service work. All the various items added up to well over $1000, quite a shock. The fan was the most expensive part at nearly $600 alone. My wife needs this vehicle back so I just told them to go ahead with the work. Well we are not flush with cash. Like most families these days we make it month to month. Wanting to see what we could do to save money with the fan specifically I called Rollings back. I eventually got hold of the service manager, Humberto (Bert) I asked him about the cost of the fan, as I know there is an aftermarket unit available for $250. Also there is the option of replacing the resistor - a $30 part - instead of the whole fan unit that appears to be working. Humberto doesn't seem to like customers asking questions. The only response I had from him was "I diagnose fan, it broken, I dont know what else to tell you" Now I'm not a mechanic, I'm not a pro, I don't have the right tools or training. But I'm also not an idiot. And I've been driving, maintaining and repairing my 3 vehicles for well over 30 years. I don't appreciate being talked to like an idiot. Especially if I'm expected to pony over a grand to the guy. For that money I expect a little customer service. Just entertain me for a second, tell me what your diagnosis was and at least hear me out regarding the non-OEM part. Don't just rudely give me the brush off. So I told him to hold off on the fan. Do the oil and filter, and we'll leave it at that. Two days later I was informed the car is ready to pick up, so off I trot to get it. When I get there I was given a bill for $250 - for an oil and filter change. And the mysterious diagnostic. So I'm complaining to the cashier girl that for $95 for a diagnostic I should get my moneys worth. All I got was Bert's grumpy tone on the phone and a cold brush off. The cashier goes to see if there is anything she can do. Grumpy old Bert comes out and asks why I complain "I told you fan was broken, you decline work". I ask him what his diagnosis was, if I'm paying for it. "Low resistance in fan" So like I said, the resistor is bad. "Not resistor, resistance" Oh! Anyway they refused to lower the price, and I didn't really have the energy to press my point. It was going nowhere. Halfway home something slid across the hood and flew off into the road. I pulled over and noticed a bit of fake chrome plastic trim was missing from the front grille. I went back up the street to retrieve the trim, it was in the middle of the street busted up.  How does a plastic trim piece get onto the hood? How does it 'fall off'. Plastic trim parts DO NOT come off without a fight, ever. The takeaway is that I took my vehicle to Rollings and left it in their care. It was returned to me in worse condition than I left it, unrepaired and nothing more than bad attitude for my money. read more

In a nutshell, we sent in two cars for repairs, one of the cars was damaged when we returned to pick it up. I'd like to just give a fair opinion of the experience we had. It could have been better (2/5) but I'll give it an OK (3/5) rating. Where it became really unfortunate and disappointing was that when our car got scraped, the shop did not really own up to it. We had before photos of the car before we picked it up, we checked the CCTV and it's clear the bumper wasn't scratched when we moved it off the tow truck. We've kept the car for years and it's been essentially untouched. The fresh scrape is on the front of the bumper, not under, so the damage was incurred from when someone was driving the car. I understand that it may not have been your fault directly, but the car was clearly damaged in your possession and I think as a responsible business owner, you need to own up to it. At first you were not going cover the damage. On a positive note, we spoke to James who was really calm and understanding and he suggested the decision to cover the damage. Prior to the incident, I'd like to note that Bert offered to (and did) drive our car back to our place when we weren't able to. I actually had a really personal and warm conversation with Bert during the drive. He also helped us oil our car doors and had recommended a really good tow company at the start. Why I can't leave a good review is because you didn't own up to the paint damage at first, and then you guys were so hostile to us when we returned to pick up the second car. It made us really uncomfortable so we decided to withdraw our second car and go with the official dealer of the second car. We also didn't appreciate the way you and your staff conducted yourselves to the tow truck driver (that we hired) in front of us. Later that night the tow trucker driver ended up scamming us (our fault for hiring this company, but your staff were fist bumping the driver and discussing in Spanish to him about us when we couldn't understand), that felt really sketchy. I get it you're mad we withdrew our second car, but you still need to maintain professionalism. There's always potential for great future business and relationship if you handle these things well. I think as a business owner you need to be a more accountable when handling an incident like this and not take it so personally. At the end of the day, we just want our car repaired and to not have to cover any damages that we are not responsible for. Peace of mind is everything for the customer; we had 3 expensive sports cars in total to bring you and we just felt uncomfortable to continue based on how we felt, you need to respect that. The scrape was not so much the issue, but the principle of it is huge (these sports cars are expensive), and I think we were really open, trusting, and honest in communicating with you guys. I hope you understand where we are coming from and that we really had a great experience with you guys prior to the incident. No hard feelings, I still think your business is stellar and I really wish we were able to continue working with you. It would have been a really good business relationship. I had the best experience with a car repair ever. 1 The decor is really nice, feels like going back in time. 2 I was sat down and in processed like never! Asked questions, was given options and let me know they would keep me informed and promised a transmission replacement in a day and a half. 3 They delivered! Called to ask follow-up questions and confirm services. 4 They finished on time. This is one of my biggest complaints about the auto repair industry, not completing on time and worse just not calling. Also was given a follow up call days later to ask how the repair was working. Everything about this experience was excellent. I did price the repair at multiple other shops and Rollings was hundreds less than the lowest quote. I will go back here for all repairs my cars need. I chose Rollings from my friend 85 years old. I needed an oil change and also a continual " electrical device causing a dead battery". It was during Covid , I live in a Senior apt . on my earned SS$. Took in auto at noon and done at 10 am next day. Hours 7-6? My bill was $1600 and $600 were for labor... The owner was stammering etc. when I mentioned I had just paid his shop rent... I go to Placentia Service twice now and highly recommend. Rollings is a " NO" in my opinion, especially for elderly women. Brought in my SUV for a break change. After picking it up, I noticed something weird with the breaks. The break pedal seemed to have excessive play almost like they were not properly bled. This was not as bad initially, however, the following week (this is not a vehicle I use daily) I noticed it even more. I ended up calling and explaining what had happened. They did ask me to bring it back so they can check it, which I didn't do because I did not feel confident that they would take care of it. I ended up taking my vehicle to another location where they confirmed that my breaks were not bled. It is unfortunate because I didn't receive bad customer service however, not bleeding the breaks after changing them is a big deal. Not sure the value is there. If you bring your vehicle here, be aware of the work they do. read more

Took my 2009 Lexus LS460 here based on a friend recommendation for 75k Maintence & smogs check per DMV requirement. When I arrived spoke to James whom was very friendly and explained the process of what they're going to work on also I was concerned about the Smog check to pass, he assured me that with repair and the maintenance that is going to take place it will and just Incase if it didn't he won't charge me for it. By 4:30 he called me saying all repair is done and my car is ready to be picked up and the somg passed with no extra work needed to be done. I need to share my experience; even though my initial contact was because of the free service I received via a postcard about six months ago but I can't thank them enough for what they have done since. just last Monday I brought my car and deep down thinking I have to change the transmission, it was making noises; whining and clunking when it was in neutral, James asked Bert to look at my situation, I left a car for few hours and when they called me it was a huge relief, Bert told me it was due to transmission fluid and they got authorization to change it, I picked it later and it is working like a clockwork, thank you, thank you and thank you. So...... Took my daughters car in to get a speed sensor changed and a smog check. On our way to the shop I noticed my daughter's brake lights weren't working and asked them to check that out too. Received a call from them around 3 hours later saying the clutch was smoking and that it would be $1100 to replace (Just had clutch checked by regular mechanic 2 weeks prior who said clutch was fine) by the way, clutch worked great on way to Rollings. Now on to the speed sensor ($260 to replace, quote from regular mechanic $130), brake sensor replacement $110 (reason brake lights not working). James seemed very upset when I asked him to put car back together and we would come get it. Advised me I was being charged $95 inspection fee. I paid, but then when my daughter got in her car to get ready to leave... NO CLUTCH! Had to have it towed home cause I will be taking it to someone I trust! Will update this review when I find out true status of clutch. read more

I've had my car serviced at Rollins a few times now. And I'm happier each time I go!! Most of the times I drop my car off it's for an oil change and they still check my fluids and top anything off that is needed. The staff is all very knowledge and very honest. They noticed I need transmission service but said I could wait a little while. So instead of pulling out my credit card, I'm just waiting for my taxes. I have been taking my cars to Rollings Automotive for a very long time. Let's face it, car problems suck because they are rarely planned and sometimes cost a lot. I think that's why people get mad at mechanics. All I can say is that at Rollings Automotive, the work is ALWAYS done right. If there's a problem, they will fix it. I had a problem with my Corvette that kept coming back. I had to take it back a few times (it was a rare crazy problem), but Bert figured it out and fixed it at no extra charge. If you're looking for a cheap mechanic, this is NOT your place, but if you want it done right. This IS your place. read more

Just going to share this and allow you the reader decide. Had my car towed to Rollings after my regular service shop couldn't diagnose it. Agreed to pay the 180 to crack the engine open and see what the issue was. Rods were burnt and the engine was blown. The telling part is next. I was told that the engine would need to be replaced (3600 - 5500). Needless to say that was motivation for me to try and figure out what really was wrong with my Hyundai Sonata at just over 101k miles. Rollings made no effort to enlighten me to a recall campaign that had been around for a few years. The only mention was that they knew this model had known issues, but didn't share about the recall. I'm not the automotive expert - that's why I seek professionals. However, I'm pretty sure that those in the repair business would be much more informed - and willing to share - if the customer is your priority. I'm trying to wrap my head around why Rollings didn't inform me of the recall - and that the engine would be replaced by Hyundai... ----- Responding to your call and lengthy explanation does not change the fact that between your 30+ years, and your partner's 35+ years, and the internet, not once did you or a representative from your shop recommend looking into a recall. Even after Bert shared that he knew there were issues with this model. He NEVER advised to look into a recall. Why? $$$ that's why. You left me to figure it out myself. Which is fine for me but says a lot about your service. The fact that with all your experience and resources, your team did not share information that would save me the significant cost. If I had not taken it upon myself to research and just gone with your diagnosis, I would have been paying you up to $3,500 - 5,500 (your quote) for a new engine. This review is based on your team's inability to be forthright and transparent about the options I had. To anyone who visits your shop I recommend verify and do your homework. Otherwise you could be paying more than you should. Next time, share your knowledge and wisdom with someone in need, rather than see if they'll just pay you for a job that the recall would have addressed. It smelled too much like being taken advantage. This is why you're receiving this review. read more
