After a few bites, I threw in the towel. t's denser than even Stouffer's! The battered Cajun Fries were quite crispy and seasoned, but arrived lukewarm. Reheating on broil did the trick! The Me's Meal hit the spot! The chewy garlic noodles were on point and the large chunks of tofu were perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavor from the lemongrass spices. The mixed veggies rounded out the meal. Sadly, I don't see the dish on the menu and hope that it'll return! It was a pain to order the Me's Meal - delivery was only twice a week on Mon and Thurs and the order had to be placed by 6pm the prior day. I missed out a couple of times as I hadn't read the fine print closely and finally got around to ordering in advance. The stellar service from the staff knows how to right a wrong. When I placed my advance order on Sunday, the restaurant messed up and didn't receive it on Monday and wasn't able to prepare the special meal. They called an hour earlier and left a voicemail, but I wasn't around and missed it. A text message or email notification would have been nice. When the driver was dropping off the rest of the meal and called about the missing dish, he offered a meek refund. While a refund sounds nice, it doesn't compensate for my hunger. Where was my dinner? A shout-out to one of the drivers, Stephen, who kindly helped me out and drove back to the restaurant to prepare a Tofu Banh mi after dropping it off. He was super responsive with texts and very accommodating. He must know my condo complex well after a couple of trips! The management is great and goes the extra mile! When I called the restaurant to explain the ordeal and still wanted to try the Me's Meal, they put in the order for the next cycle and it was delivered on Thurs free of charge. This is my favorite pho place in the DMV area. The fact that they offer oxtail bone broth and oxtail meat is different from any other pho place I've eaten at. It definitely doesn't taste like your normal bone broth. It's more flavorful and everything about it is great. The egg rolls are the best I've had. They're crunchy, hot, fresh and savory. Must try. If you check-in on Yelp, they usually offer 2 for free. My fiancée typically orders the five spice chicken spring rolls which are massive. Also very good and they add an egg roll stick for added crunch. The staff there is very friendly and they go above and beyond to make your experience there memorable. The space is laid back and very casual. There is also some outdoor seating. Bathrooms are clean. They also offer delivery/takeout until 1am, so if you ever get late night cravings this is your place. The oxtail pho really wasn't what I expected. For about $20 I really wish there was more meat. In total there was probably only one shredded oxtail in my bowl. All the side basils, cilantro, and bean sprouts were pre added into the bowl but they were missing the limes for that added citrus flavor. The bowl was so large that I ended up getting both lunch and dinner out of it. For $11 I thought it was a great deal, especially bc the food was fresh and tasty. They have a bunch of great sauces that you can choose from, and can get the bowl over lettuce or noodles. The roll was also really good, especially w the spicy peanut sauce. For dinner, I decided to order shrimp summer rolls and because I checked in on Yelp, received free crispy spring rolls. SCORE! Note that this place is set up like Chipotle, where you order your style, select your protein and the veggies, noodles, etc. to add to your order. You also get to select your sauces. Don't think you can beat their hand rolls. The price for these huge spring rolls are worth it. However deeply disappointed that my pho was $15 and it was small with very little noodle/meat. The broth itself was beefy but I got the spicy broth which wasn't spicy. It had a bit of chili oil and is honestly not worth the money. I like the technology but be forewarned, if it's your first time here and you're not sure what you want, navigating through the menu can be a bit overwhelming. I am always about paying for quality but I'm giving this place more of a 3.5. Their brisket pho is VERY pricey if you are used to getting the traditional pho. We ordered two fully loaded bowls with lemongrass beef and five spiced chicken. These are super filling and they're a lot of food. They also come with two imperial rolls so that just makes it heavier. There's a lot of veggies and rice noodles and a good helping of protein. We had to take leftovers with us but better for us, another meal. Definitely a go to if you're hungry in the Tyson's area. I was craving Roll Play tonight and I just had to pick some up for myself before going back to college. I'm a regular customer at Roll Play when I'm at home. It's one of my favorite restaurants in northern Virginia. I'm half Vietnamese and grew up eating a lot of Vietnamese food so I have high standards for it. Although Roll Play is not 100% authentic, I let it slide because I love the idea of a Vietnamese-American Chipotle-style restaurant. Being able to customize orders with popular ingredients in Vietnamese cuisine is ingenious and Roll Play does it so well. Everything here is tasty, fresh, and fun. My go to order is the Fully Loaded Bowl with Honey Glazed Tofu + Triple Delight Imperial Rolls. The portion for the bowl is great for the price and more filling than the portion size of the rolls and Bahn Mi. In addition, I prefer traditional and authentic Vietnamese deli-style Bahn Mi to the options at Roll Play. However, the rolls and the Banh Mi are also tasty and worth ordering if that's what you're craving. Their vegetables are always perfectly fresh. The vermicelli noodles are consistently cooked well and have a nice bite. The honey glazed tofu is light and tasty. The other protein options are also good in my experience but I usually opt for the tofu in my bowl because I really like how the lightness and sweetness of it compliment the tanginess of the Nuoc Mam (Vietnamese Vinaigrette). Also, the tofu has no additional cost compared to the other protein options which is a bonus if you're on a college budget like me. Although Roll Play leans on the pricier side, it's undoubtedly worth it because every time I go I know that I'm getting high quality and fresh food.
