Ambiance is a little boring but the food is not!! Walked in a looked at the menu and had a hard time deciding, there was so many items we wanted to try!! We went with the beef pho, shrimp and pork spring rolls, bahn mi and Thai tea! The guy that took our order cost them the 5 star he was in total lala land and just spaced out! He forgot my sandwiches even though he asked if I wanted everything on it, I was waiting for it forever and went to ask and he never entered it for some reason by that time we were just ready to go! Ample parking for this Resturant and the other restaurants and stores in this plaza. Easy to walk in, go to the counter, order and pay and find a seat , and wait for your mouth watering entree. The menu is located on the left wall as you walk in. The staff is friendly and helpful with ordering suggestions. The Thai tea with boba was very tasty and refreshing. My friend and I ordered the beef spring rolls; they were good; the peanut dipping sauce was bomb; added moistness the rolls needed. I ordered the pork banh mi ; such a light sandwich packed with flavor ; meat was very tender and the veggies added a nice crisp touch. Can't believe I never tried this before. My friend ordered the grilled shrimp bowl; she said it was light and healthy. We both agreed the food was good ; and not heavy where you fill like your gonna be sick. This place is a quick service type of restaurant. Order, pay and then get seated and they will bring you your food. Place looks a bit rundown too. Nothing fancy. Menu has a variety of items but not really authentic vietnamese IMO. Pho broth had too much ginger taste. Spring rolls was mediocre. The sliced pork was dry. Peanut sauce was flat and thin. They ran out of sambal so I had to use sriracha! My rice bowl with grilled pork was boring but they gave a good amount of meat. Egg rolls were big and filled with meat. And Thai tea was just ok. The guy behind the counter wasn't super friendly, but that's alright. The Pho was perfect, the broth was very flavorful and very generous amount. The passion fruit drink is so good, but only if u like sweet things and as for the Thai tea well I've had better. The flavor of the spicy beef without the chili sauce is weird. It tastes like fish, and my daughter didn't care for it. They should've packed some spicy oil just in case you wanted extea or something. The beef pho tasted like miso soup, which was weird. The noodles I don't get it they are very spaghetti like instead of pho like. The spicy beef with spicy oil was good, but it was only the spicy oil that elevated to a whole other level. We were passing through town and stopped for gas. We decided we had better get a quick snack. Yelp helped us find Roll And Grill. I am so glad we came here. The young ladies running the show were so nice and helpful. We decided on the Grilled Pork Sandwiches. OMGoodness! These are made to order. So fresh and delicious!! The place is small with clean lines decor. Tables were clean. Trash kept up. The ladies made sure everything was in an orderly manner. We were so hungry. I forgot to take the food picture! Oops. After eating, I asked them what happened to their front door?!?! It was just the metal door frame left. You can see the glass got shattered. She said reluctantly, they were robbed that morning! WOW! Shame on whoever's the culprit. What a terrible thing to happen to such nice people. Well, to anyone, really. With that being said, we're glad we found this place to give them a little business. I will say I would have loved for the sauce to be a little thicker but it's still good to me and I'm no where near an expert on how it "should be". Try the Bun-Bo-Hue (Best in town), the Banh Mi, Salt and Pepper Spare Ribs, Salt and Pepper Fish Fillet, and the Kalbi Bowl. Avoid the pho. I hope they bring back the steamed rolls. Those were my favorite. The Thai Tea and Milk tea is also pretty decent. As a heads up, the Bun Bo Hue is more of a medium spicy but it is very flavorful! I eat pho at least once a week. I have been here once before so this is my second visit. Why do I eat pho for lunch? It's fast and it's a good way to start a Monday, especially when you had a little to drink on Sunday. It's a good comfort food. A very clean place, fast and efficient service. I received my food in 10 minutes. The food is perfectly tasty and authentic. I had the large beef pho. Great broth. The meat and meatball is tender and well seasoned. Overall very satisfied. So total confession, I came here a couple years ago with my daughter and neither one of us were happy. I knew my close friend and fellow yelpers Patrick and Bett love this place and they have great taste. So I decided at that time not to review and wait until I visit again. So happy we ate here today. Food was delicious. We ordered: Korean BBQ Pork Banh Mi sandwich Spring rolls with pork and shrimp Thai ice tea Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The walls are dirty, looks like sauce splatters. This mom-and-pops shop knocked my socks off! My sister and I ordered the spring rolls that were super chunky with the perfect dipping sauce. We also had the grilled pork Banh Mi that had a very homemade taste to it. SOOO BOMB!! This Banh Mi took me all the way to my childhood, who new a sandwich could bring me so much happiness in one bite! Last but certainly not least we had the Thai Ice Tea Boba it was the perfect amount of tea and condensed milk. Last night, I stopped by Rolls and Grill on Ming Avenue because I had a hankering for some of their famous spring rolls. I was greeted by the friendly staff with a smile, and I was immediately overtaken by the delicious aroma of fresh Asian cuisine throughout this tiny establishment. In addition to an order of beef spring rolls, I ordered a bowl of the beef noodle soup to go. After just a few minutes, my order was complete, and I took it home to find it carefully packaged and sealed so it wouldn't go to waste all over my car. The soup was amazing, and the fresh ingredients and spicy broth really hit the spot, especially on a cold and rainy night. The spring rolls were delightful, and the peanut sauce was the perfect topping. This updated review is long overdue. When I first visited this restaurant when they first opened a few years back I came just for the poke. After visiting many many times after and eating their Vietnamese food, Yelp gave me a big yellow screen letting me know I'm a "regular" here. When I used to work every weekends, this would be me and my husbands regular Saturday lunch.... Never miss :-). This restaurant is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Bakersfield. Any time a new restaurant opens up, we don't end up going because we change our minds and go here instead. We haven't dined in for a really long time because of the pandemic, but if you're in the mood for some 80s-90s love jams on their TV screen then you're in for a treat. All they need is a karaoke and they're all set. I have tried other Vietnamese food from other restaurants, but after trying the food here then I pretty much compare everything to this place and I might as well just come here. Don't get me wrong, there are other Vietnamese restaurants that are good, but I just think the food here is sooo good. Don't take my word for it, you should check it out for yourself. I don't know if I have a favorite item because I try to mix it up from time to time, but if you're unsure try the bahn mi sandwiches or the springrolls. If you get the springrolls, do not skip the sauce!!! If you skip the sauce, you will miss out on what I'm talking about. Parking is a little crazy and you might have to park a little far but it's worth it. If you're in a rush, order your food ahead of time. You can order over the phone or thru Yelp. read more

Located in a strip mall off of Ming Avenue beside an Indian restaurant behind Long John Silver's drive-thru. By far, best Vietnamese Egg and Spring Rolls in Bakersfield! Pho is also very good. The grilled chicken spring rolls and the sausage spring rolls are our favorites. They also have shrimp and pork spring rolls. So flavorful and light! The crispy pork spring rolls that we wrap in the lettuce leaves are the best! Delicately crisp on the outside and packed with moist umami goodness on the inside. We really haven't tried much of the other menu offerings, the rolls with deliciously grilled meat is what we drive across town for. Their location isn't the best or the safest. Parking can be a challenge. Worth the trouble. Good food! Will definitely be making many, many more trips to this place! read more

Stopped by for the first time during my visit to Bakersfield and I was pleasantly surprised to find the food was an authentic, Vietnamese-owned small business with delicious food to match! I am normally hesitant to try bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle) at new restaurants because I normally stick to my go-to's, but today I felt adventurous and ordered it and am SO glad I did! The broth was sooo yummy and the meat and noodles were cooked perfectly tender. The vermicelli bowl that my friend ordered was just as delicious as well! There is a great variety of options here and everything seems to be on point! And of course I had to finish my dinner with Thai iced tea which was 10/10! What a treasure this place is - from the fresh rolls (offered in seafood, vegetarian and meat options) to the piping hot pho, everything is done with care and quality in mind. The restaurant itself isn't anything that stands out too much BUT those are the places that win you over with the taste. This place is not to bad , I think it just became my second favorite Vietnamese restaurant. The portions were big especially the Pho. On this day it was cold outside and I was wanting something hot for lunch. When we arrived it was right before noon so it wasn't to busy yet. After giving the menu a quick look over I decide on the Rare steak with meatball add shrimp Pho. My wife had the Korean kalbi bowl and my son had the same as me. As we we waited , and it wasn't long we were hoping to get a seat outside but due to the locations size they only have two picnic tables on the sidewalk that were unfortunately taken already. That's ok we ended up tailgating after we got our order. Everything was packed neatly especially the Pho, the meat was kept separately from the broth and noodles, which was kinda cool it would have traveled well if going a distance. Everything was delicious in all honesty I've had better Pho broth at other places I feel like it was lacking something, but it was delicious and packed with noodles. I had some of my wife's plate , the Korean kalbi bowl and OMG was it delicious. The shrimp and pork rolls were phenomenal especially with that bit of crunch that was in them , that I believe was wonton wrapper but I could be wrong. The peanut sauce that came with them was pretty darn good as well. If there was any downside to the experience I would have to say it's the seating and the fact that they forgot to give us soy sauce for the white rice and the amount of condiments they give you , oh and they could definitely work on some better customer service the ladies just kinda have a blank stare on their faces no personality and they should try greeting people when they walk in. Very bad impression from the first time we walked in, the guy on the front who's supposed to be the manager is monotonal and doesn't seem to be interested in taking care of his customers. First of all, the lemongrass beef bowl came with a ton of green chile when their menu did not list that it is a spicy dish. If you try to argue with them, they'd say you could always ask (so customers still have to ask when the menu already indicates that it's a non-spy dish?!). And their policy is to charge you extra to replace the order even if it was their fault. Secondly, the other order we had was grilled pork with burned edges. Vietnamese carrot pickles had very thick cut which was completely the opposite of how they should be. We also noticed the cook was touching the foods he prepared with his bare hands.
