Foods pretty good. Other than having to pay an extra $5 for pasta that doesn't come with a $20 Chicken Parm entree. It's no healthy serving either. What a surprise. Didn't even want to really go out to the next new pizza place in Trumbull, was I ever wrong. Starting at the physical location, excellent, good spot, good parking good area. Inside... Paradise. (If you don't like the chairs, you probably shouldn't be eating pizza and crepes anyway). The service, attentive and helpful. Non intrusive and all around wonderful. The food, ambrosia! I grew up in the BX and this pizza is as good as anything you would find on Castle Hill or E.Tremont. The crepes were also a very nice touch, not to heavy and they go great with a cafe creme or cafe au lait. Thats all I got. I think I burned through every compliment I know. read more

I really liked the interior and the ambience of this trendy restaurant, bakery, and bar. There was a healthy buzz among the dine-in crowd on Friday at lunch time. It was my first time here to pick up two large take-out pizzas. Upon arriving at home I was really disappointed with the quality of the pizzas. Seems they were made in a great rush. The overall taste and quality were far below my expectation based on the reviews. The crusts were too thick and the sauce was mediocre. They essentially burned half the crust of the cheese pizza. The bacon and garlic pizza had very little bacon and no taste of garlic whatsoever. New to the area and trying to support local restaurants my husband and I were looking forward to eating at Romanacci Pizza Bar. It had been recommended by a number of people. The atmosphere in this local eatery is very chic, warm and inviting with wood high top tables and a long wood bar for dining that spans the length of the restaurant. The vibe is industrial Italian, very warm and inviting. The service was excellent and the wait staff knowledgeable. The food presentation is nice on wooden cutting boards. Unfortunately the food does not match the ambiance and was extremely disappointing. We started with the fried calamari which was fair--a bit chewy, overly breaded and undercooked. The Fradiavalo sauce that accompanied it was good. We also had the meatball appetizer and I was looking forward to a hearty, tasty Italian meatball. Again I was disappointed. The serving size was generous but the meatballs themselves were fairly tasteless, a bit on the mushy side and the sauce was bland. A breadboard of warm soft buttery bread came to the table and the presentation was nice but the bread was not Italian style but more like a cross between a pita and Naan. For my main course I ordered the eggplant parmigiana which all I can say about it was that it was a hot mushy, tasteless, cheesy mess. I was extremely disappointed. My two dining companions ordered pizza (picante and clams casino) because, well, this establishment features pizza. Even the pizzas were a disappointment--greasy, undercooked and lacking in flavor. I wanted to like Romanacci Pizza Bar but I couldn't. Overall this was a very disappointing dining experience and we will probably not return since there are many other options in the area. P.S. I felt so unwelcome here. I place an order over the phone with a girl who seems completely annoyed with me even though I'm being pleasant. I shrug it off, maybe it's loud or busy or stressful there, no worries, I don't need to be treated sweetly while placing an order but at the same time I am regretting my idea to call them and wishing I could just be like "nevermind!" And hang up. Then I go there to pick up the dinners and I'm standing for minutes where ((I assume)) you pay for your food and no ones giving me eye contact or just giving me the reassurance I'm in the right zone for pick ups for a while. Again, I'm not expecting to be greeted the moment I walk in just an acknowledgement im standing where I need to stand to cash out. Then finally someone comes over to check me out and tells me a total that was completely different than what I was told over the phone. I say "that's odd I was told this total" she just dead pans tells me "your total is $62.00" I ask if there is a way to see the prices on the receipt bc nothing is written out and she just tells me several times "your order is $62" rather than like, idk, tell me the prices of things so I can add it? Or say a simple "sorry we told you the wrong price over the phone but this is the correct price"? The final nail and why I'm writing is how bad the food was. They used Jar vodka sauce and not even enough vodka sauce. Just a sad dry (small portioned) amount of Jared vodka sauce all dried up. I feel like an Italian restaurant should tell you they aren't making the sauce and that it's from the grocery store, I even recognize the brand. And honestly I didn't need a big portion of jarred sauce, but I was surprised with the portion. Every other Italian joint I've gone to my whole life is a big container filled up, two meals out of it EASY. This was a small round container filled half way. It's hard to tell from picture, I should have put something small next to it for scale. Let me start by saying that Romanacci is billed as a pizza bar and I did not have the pizza. I got, to go, lentil soup and lasagna. Lentil soup had no body, or seasoning......very flat. Lasagna pasta was homemade and pretty good. That's where it ended though. There was very little meat, either cheer or sauce. It was very bland also. Daughter got a pasta bolognese dish. Once again, no seasoning. On top of all that, the serving sizes were ridiculously small, particularly for the money they get. Got the Calamari for an appetizer and must say it was one of the best I've had. Great quality! We went on 7/20 and it was our second time dining at Romanacci's. The meatball appetizer was very tasty and we all loved the truffle fries with the dip. My daughter and I shared a chicken Caesar salad (the chicken was extremely tough to chew), my son had the lasagna (he couldn't finish it b/c the portion size was so large) and my husband had a panini (he said it was "decent"). A very solid 4 stars! We came for lunch and split a caesar salad to start. It was perfect and was served split on two plates for us. I had the panini special - a milanese chicken breast with tomatoes and cheese on foccacia and it was perfection - seriously. My husband had the ravioli and savored every bite. The service was excellent without being fawning or annoying - just right. The only detractions were the pretty horrible new age music that was playing and the high top tables. When did high top tables become a thing? Well, personally speaking, I don't think they are very comfortable. That said we will be returning because everything else was delicious and well served. Spoke with the manager Kevin he said they do not take reservations but gave some suggestions on how to ensure we don't have to wait too long for a table. Got there around 5:30 on a Saturday and they had a few tables open. We were immediately seated and given water and bread. Our waitress was fantastic. We had a birthday in our party and she was super stealth about getting the dessert out with the candle and singing to our table. It was great, everything: The service, the food, the wine! Excellent food. Driving from NY to Massachusetts and stumbled on this place because it was near the highway. Salad and bread to start - both perfectly dressed with quality olive oil, bread pillowy/light with nice crunch to the outside. Meatball appitezer might be a bit small but was tender in a rich and flavorful sauce. Last was the margarita pizza, with a fresher tasting tomato sauce and the best crust (no soggy bottom, good flavor, just the right texture). Quick and helpful service. Pizza was delicious, and we all enjoyed it - a "large" is more like XXL. I only gave 3 stars because the parpadelle bolognese was very heavy dough and was inedible because of it. Note to the pasta maker, either you are a beginner or you are not paying attention...parpadelle should be a light pasta. This was very dense and doughy. Stopped by last night With two friends for dinner. Pizza and wine list excellent. Service needs attention. We sat down and after 30 minutes of no attention, had to ask busboy for our waiter . Ten minutes later, Still no waiter, mean while the hostess stood there with her chin in her hands looking bored. After a bit we asked the busboy if he could just please put our order in and he kindly obliged.
