So good! Delicious, mom and pop sub shop food. It can be very busy so make sure to go when you aren't in a rush. Definitely glad I ventured to this place during my stay in Boston.

    Chicken Parm
    Yelp R.

Very disappointed. I decided to take a chance and order a Chicken Parm. When they presented it to me the provolone cheese was not melted on top of the sub. Instead it has been jammed into the side and had probably not received any heat whatsoever. This is the type of job I would have done 20 years ago when I worked the college late night shift. -1 star When I asked them to melt the cheese again they added more marinara for some reason. -1 star When I asked them to put it back in the oven, the got all huffy and said it was "too late". They then grudgingly did not put it in the oven but for an unexplained reason put it on the grill. -1 star By the time I received it I was so annoyed and felt that I wasted 11 dollars. I'm going to give them another chance though.

Bourdain never steers me wrong, even after all these years. Rondo's is the defintion of a mom and pop shop, with the charm, atmosphere, service, and prices to match. I got a large steak bomb for 12 bucks and split it with my guy. It was plenty of food for us both. The sub is made fresh right there and the flavor is out of this world. I highly recommend Rondo's for your steak and cheese cravings!

Get the steak and cheese! The people in there are so nice and it seems like it's been a family business for a long time. They make great subs, especially the steak and cheese. The number of people I saw around eating it was not surprising because it's so good. They add in lettuce, mayo, tomatoes, and peppers if you want! You can customize it however you want. A lot of local people come to this shop for lunch or grab and go.

This place was awesome. The fresh, hot cheesesteak sandwich was fantastic. I'm not sure of the history of this place, but it's a small shop that whipped things up as I ordered.

Always delicious, ordered a steak and cheese with peppers and a chicken cutlet sub. Service is always great. Took a photo of the current menu for everyone as well.

Went there and got greek salad with chicken. Size was great and it's delicious. I recommend come early or call in and place your order. The place is crazy busy during lunch. Card is now accepted.

I went here to get a steak and cheese sub. The sub was pretty good. They give you a nice amount of meat and a nice amount of cheese. The service was excellent and pretty fast. I would eat here again and definitely recommend trying this place out.

After reading some reviews, I decided to pay for extra cheese because I saw that their cheesesteaks may not be up to par on my preferred cheese level. I'm so glad I did! I don't think the cheesesteak without the extra cheese would've been as good. DEFINITELY A LOT OF MEAT AND DEFINITELY GREAT FOR THE PRICE!

No seating, no lingering, no fluff. This place is all about the food, and honestly... respect. They're best known for their cheesesteaks (for good reason), but the menu goes beyond that with subs, quesadillas, burritos, and salads. Pro tip: order ahead. Space is tight, especially in the winter, and while I've heard there may be outdoor tables in warmer months, this is very much a grab-and-go operation. Now let's talk portions--because WOW. I picked up a bag with five subs (cheesesteaks and chicken parm), and I almost dropped it. That thing was HEAVY. Full arm workout included. And here's the real tip: the small is pretty big. Like, plenty big. You absolutely do not need the large unless you're feeding an entire second person. The chicken parm was double-layered with chicken, not overly breaded, and absolutely hit the spot. As my boyfriend says, you usually don't think much about rating chicken parm unless it's bad... and this was very much not bad. The cheesesteak was excellent--tons of flavor, generous portions, and I loved that the peppers and onions were finely chopped and mixed right into the meat. Every bite delivered. Next time, I've got my eye on the nacho cheesesteak, because clearly I like to live my life with intention. No frills, big flavors, and serious bang for your buck. If you're craving a cheesesteak and don't need a place to sit, Carl's absolutely delivers. Would order again--and definitely recommend.

I ordered the "traditional" Philly cheesesteak deal that comes with fries and a drink for $13.99. The pictures looked so good and I was craving a Philly cheesesteak so I was hoping for the best. Although the food was made pretty quickly, it was not good. Cheap imitation of a Philly Cheesesteak. Steak was cheap and they used what seemed to be cheese sauce, not real cheese. Very ordinary. That was my fault, I should have known that places like this in touristy areas are typically bad for the most part. The service wasn't great either. Guy taking my order seemed to have an attitude. Don't eat here unless you want to be disappointed.

I realize in Boston you should opt for regional specialties like 'chowdah' and 'lobstah.' Still, my curiosity was piqued by a "Philly" shop in the middle of downtown Boston. And I wasn't feeling any particular flavor at the time, so... here we go! The cheesesteak was surprisingly good, overfilled and tasty! My only complaint: the meat needed more seasoning. Had I known this, I would have added a little S&P on my own, but I didn't know, so I didn't grab any. Oh well, it was still decent. More cheese? Yeah, maybe, but it wasn't devoid of any. Grilled onions? If you ask, you shall receive! And I mean, a bunch of them! The roll was also good. It was close to an Amarosa's from Philly. Maybe not exact, but close. And the fries were surprisingly good, for what I assume came from a freezer directly into the fryer. They still had a nice crunchy exterior and a soft/fluffy interior. If you ask for ketchup, there is a communal bottle with the hand germs of a thousand locals and tourists. I joke, but not really. It's not a complaint, just a wistful note in case you're sensitive to germs and such. The line moved VERY quickly, so props to the team there for shepherding us all along very well! They also HAD a line, so this is what drew me to choose this place over other similar establishments. I figure if you're operating a stall in this market, you HAVE to bring your A game. I feel like this joint knows this, and they clearly showed an effort to put up a quality product. Overall, it's not Philly legit, maybe, but it's not too far from it. Probably more legit than most non-Philadelphia establishments I've tried. And for the record, a single combo with a cheesesteak, fries, and a drink (plus one extra drink) was well enough to feed two grown adults! So, you're definitely getting your money's worth here. I'd come back, honestly! I might remember to bring a little salt and pepper, but I'd definitely come back to this place!

I much prefer the way your local sub shop does it; no measuring, just give the customer as much as will fit on your sub roll and that's that! I am of the opinion that franchised sub shops like these go too far with their pre-measuring everything, and I think they'd be better served to be more hands-on and "made by hand" approach to serving the public. However, the tase of my Philly Cheesesteak here at Charley's overcomes that shortcoming. I was actually surprised how good this steak and cheese tasted. My order took perhaps five minutes to cook up, and it came with free medium lemonade, which was also delicious, although not the best I've ever had, it's certainly in the top 7 or so. I will say the staff here were all nice, professional, and prompt with great customer service. They had one staff member giving out free samples, which were also tasty, and something you don't typically see with sub-shop type of restaurant. Having had authentic Philly Cheese Steaks in Philadelphia, this doesn't quite reach that level, but it is really good food and fairly reasonable prices.
