Why haven't I reviewed this place after my first visit, this place is phenomenal! Beware this place looks like it's closed but that must be to deter the massive crowds that would circle if world really got out about how great this place is. The steak and cheese bomb (has mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers) is mouth watering deliciousness covered in melting cheese and steaming with flavor. I add extra hots because I love the spice. The people are quick, Boston guys who make great food. Love this place!!! So glad I found this nice mom n' pop sub shop down in south Boston, it is definitely one of Boston's hidden gems. Their steak and egg sandwiches are so delicious and always filled with a ton of meat. Just load it up with hots, onions, mushrooms, cheese and you're good to go. I really want to like Rondo's because I try to support local businesses but Rondo's is a little rough around the edges. The sub was good but not great and the service was the same. Granted, it was about an hour before they close on Saturday but I still was not as impressed as I thought I would be. I'll give this place another try because I've heard a lot of great things but my experience there wasn't anything to write home about. read more

One day an impatient customer stormed out and I wound up with his chicken finger parm sub. What a mistake on his part and a win for me! It was awesome. Pretty classic-style Southie sub shop. Exactly what I was expecting, never disappoints. Awesome spot for lunch.

Overrated for me. Love the southie feel to this place. Subs are just okay. Large sub is pretty averagely sized. Tried the chicken salad, not bad. Certainly NOT Al's though (also a Boston sub shop staple). I've had the steak and cheese, noticeably overly salty. Also, the peppers are pre-cooked, so they have that soft green olive color to them, not my favorite. Those are supposedly the top 2 things at this sub shop so not sure what else to try as those didn't blow me away. D'angelo type quality for me. That being said, I'll grab a sub from D'angelo from time to time. read more

Why have I not tried Rondo's sooner??? Had the steak and cheese and added onions on...was fantastic. The bread is fresh and does not overwhelm the sandwich and generous servings of the steak filling. The large is really big but would say go for it as left overs are just as good later that day! It's CASH ONLY but they have an ATM inside the shop. read more

rondos! bunch of greeks, they dont care about their customers need, when i call to place an order for a pick up they would tell me to call back just because its busy and yea im starving! they feel because they know me by now they dont mind me waiting! and youd think my husband harry would take care of me, but does he??? no hes super cranky due to the rush! they stack up my subs with extra onions because they know how much i hate onions! the only reason why i bother eating there is because its right across the street where i work! its covenient and cheap. hey, one more thing! A title once held by Joes Famous Steak subs ,( Roxbury) Joe passed away and everything changed, and not for the better. Rondo's is a great family run establishment. Fantastic Boston experience. Went in and ordered a grilled chicken sub. Nice guy behind the counter tries to explain they are out of chicken, but it was tough because his English isn't great, which is a good sign at restaurants. I get a steak and cheese, and ask for hot peppers. A hilarious 5 minute conversation ensues and I still am not sure whether he was TELLING me the peppers are too hot, or ASKING me whether I like spicy food. In any case, the hot peppers were great, the steak and cheese was great, and the sandwich maker was fantastic. Will definitely be back. read more

I moved back to the area a month ago and went to try this place 5 times and it was always closed during business hours, leaving me a bit ticked off. I later find out from locals, that there was a death in the family and there is a new owner (same family though). I stopped by yesterday and it was open and for $10, I was filled for the entire day....I got the steak and cheese and it was incredible: lots of high quality sirloin steak and lots of cheese on a quality roll, and the small fries were insanely huge and tasty. Staff is incredibly nice and accommodating. The only bad thing I can say is that they are only open until about 6 pm every night, but they do open very early too. Can't wait to go back! read more

The guys here are very nice. Angelo, Jimmy, Harry, and Denise. I love their salads...I think its the best salads in Boston. They also have daily lunch specials..big portions..great price. They are pretty good at making whatever you wanted. I loved grilled Ham and cheese with tomatoes and oregano. The best. MmMmMm!!! Too bad I work far from them now. Had Rondo's for the first time this weekend after living down the street for 9months and I wish I had tried it sooner. We got a Buffalo Chicken and a Steak Combo sub. Both were fully packed and made fresh right there. Bread was fresh and not overwhelming. Toppings also clearly fresh. My roast beef sub was one of the better ones ive ever had that didnt come from a place that specializes in roast beef( Brothers Roast Beef, Louies Roast beef etc) and my friends steak egg and cheese sub was in my opinion big and he said he thourougly enjoyed it too.
