Caveat: we went on the second night it was open The good: Excellent service and waitstaff, really nice space with great windows The bad: really limited menu--this would not have been bad if the food was good. We got the brussel sprouts, the cauliflower, the snap peas, the artichoke dip and the chicken sausage sandwich. Brussels: well fried but the seasoning was really lacking, in a city full of great fried brussel sprout dishes this dish was lacking some components and flavor. Cauliflower: Not bad--was pan-fried/roasted with feta, mint, vinegar soaked raisins Snap peas--served with tahini and blood orange--lacked salt and was just a weird combination of flavor--didn't work well together Artichoke dip ---- this was really disgusting-- it was exactly what everyone brings to superbowl parties only with way too much mayo--and then it was served with deep fried baguette chips that were really greasy-- Chicken sausage--the sausage was good, but the pretzel bun need some work--it tastes more like brioche than a pretzel We really need good restaurants in AdMo so I am hopeful that they continue to work on the menu--it needs some tweaks--. We like Ripple, hopefully they can get the food to match the quality of the other location--will give it another try in a few months to see if anything has improved. To be fair, I'm a middle aged guy, which is not the target market here. If you want lots of excellent beer choices, moderately priced food, and a fun atmosphere, this would be your place. That said, the food was full of hits and misses, and the service was uneven. The salads and artichoke dip to start were hits, the tuna entree was nicely seared, and the sausages were ok but the "accoutrements" were bleh. The semi-warm side plate of french fries we got were nothing short of awful. Service was very pleasant but I had to ask for my beer order more than once; my wife was convinced they were understaffed. We lost our table reservation at 6pm just because we want to arrive early for happy hour at 5. They cannot serve us happy hour at table in which we had our happy hour at the bar then we thought we'd have our table back at 6. But, nope! We lost the reservation?!!! How could that be possible while there are many empty tables?! Even on a Thursday night -- not a busy night! By the time we left at 7:30, there were PLENTY of empty tables!! That's ridiculous! The hostess did a poor job communicating with us. We arrived early at 5:10 pm for a 6 pm reservation. We thought we could take advantage of the happy hour special before dinner. The hostess seated us at the table, only to find out that we couldn't have happy hour at the table (we must have it at the bar area). We figured...since we were early and the place was mostly empty except for the bar area, we would move to the bar to have happy hour and we explicitly told the server that we would come back to the table at 6 for dinner. At 6 when we were ready for dinner, the hostess said, "Sorry, you lost your table reservation." We ended up staying until 7:30 and ordered food and drinks at the bar, and the table we originally sat was still vacant when we left. We were not happy with the service, and we gave the hostess the evil eye the entire time until we left. Don't go there if you are planning Happy Hour and dinner. read more

I'm surprised at how good the food and service is! I came on a Sunday afternoon with reservations expecting for this establishment to be packed like all the other brunch places in the DC area. Surprisingly, there were a few diners but not busy and very spacious inside! My friend and I ordered the Hot Mess (sauteed peppers, sausage gravy, fried chicken and fried egg on top) and it was amazing! The chicken was perfectly moist on the inside and crispy on the outside with just the perfect amt of seasoning! I had them put the sausage gravy on the side since I saw they tend to smother the entire plate with gravy. We also had the bottomless mimosas for $15 and they were more champagne to juice ratio which i preferred. Our glasses were never empty and we never had to flag down our waitress for more mimosas, she kept them flowing the entire time we were there! As our group was walking out of the restaurant, the bartender who had catered to us for the last 20 mins of our time there chased us down the stairs to ask us why we left what he considered a "small tip", and demanded that we give him more money. We had the misfortune of waiting a bit long for our 2nd plate, but the server offered a free drink. Went here for dinner and it's actually a pretty cool spot! We didn't get a chance to check out the rooftop, but I would certainly come back one night to do so. We were seated promptly and I went with the quinoa black bean burger and a beer. Absolutely yum! The portion was big and who would have even known that the patty was made of quinoa?! I enjoyed my meal and it was tasty. They also have a great selection of beers! I would consider this place for a quick dinner early on in the night before heading out around AdMo hopping, but nothing more food-wise. While my entree was good, I thought the menu didn't really offer anything with a wow-factor and had a small selection options as far as food. I always walked by roofers Union and tell myself you're gonna go there one day. Yesterday was the day. It was fairly empty which was great for me I am not a fan of over crowded places. I got the One Hot Minute cocktail. It was good almost taste like a spicy lemonade. We ordered the wings for an appetizer which were good. My friend got the chicken sausage. Which was her first time trying something. Similar to this dish. She loved it !! She wasn't a fan of the mushrooms and the cheese was good that topped the sausage. Me on the other hand I had the chicken thigh sandwich and it was great! I got a side of salad. The cauliflower and carrots have a pickled taste to it. They only had blue cheese for the salad which took almost longer than my food to come out. The waitress was okay. We were mostly catching up and talking but when we did need something it was like where's Waldo. I will probably circle back for an evening visit to see what's it's like. read more

Go for the atmosphere, great for keeping an eye on a game without being in a sports bar. Solid beer list that's interesting and well-rounded. That said, I've been here twice and both times everything we ordered was overcooked or even burnt, seems like they have a great menu but lack execution. The Brussels were intentionally charred but drowning in butter. The salmon, the flatbread, the pretzel buns on the sausages---all dry, blackened and grilled into rocks. I had a Bloody Mary with Tito's so it was fine, but my bf has their standard bloody and it was basically undrinkable Bc of the garbage well vodka in it. Probably has something to do with all the college age kids who will drink anything. The food though, was awesome. We split the salmon Benedict which was great. After some apps, homemade onion dip, pulled pork tots, and deviled eggs, all of which were awesome. The problem with sitting at the bar to eat, is when it gets busy people are reaching over you for their drinks. Other than that, I'd definitely go back. The food is excellent! The service, however, left something to be desired. Empty glasses everywhere! One person finally asked for a BOTTLE of wine because they knew service was slow from the start! Place was slow (a few tables seated). And when she said in a rush, "I'll get that for you..." we had to stop her in haste to alert of more empty glasses! dirty plates left piling up for collection until we asked for them to be taken away. The final blow came when i ordered another glass of wine, and when it finally arrived (place had emptied of dinner crowd), she literally slammed it to the table in haste. I used to really like Roofers Union but when we went there last night, they would not let me in with a passport card as an ID.
