So I've been to this part of Vero Amore's one time for high tea. I think it's even better as a…read morespeakeasy. Love the wall of chianti bottles that lead to the bar and love that the staff dress up in casual Prohibition garb. Came here for girl's night and it was everyone's first time even at the restaurant but mine. I'd had dinner a couple times in the restaurant for my birthday and had the cheese wheel fettuccine alfredo. I asked if anyone was interested in trying it and so 3 of us split it which ended up being pretty perfect. It is hands down THE BEST fettuccine alfredo. We had many drinks come to our table, the first round being the homemade limoncello. Made with local Meyer lemons, it is deliciously potent. A must try. The bartender, Ryan or Brian, he made cocktails from the heart. A couple of gals ordered "dealer's choice" drinks and they were inspired by the drinker's stories. It was really a unique experience for them and I could almost see his mind working out the chemistry of the libations. Another must try, although I didn't because I had to drive myself home. I did have a coffee with Bailey's, Amaretto, and freshly-made whipped cream. Last must try if not on a coffee drink maybe on a dessert. One person in our party thought that the drinks were on the spendy side. Many of the ingredients were house made and all top shelf. I'm from Los Angeles so an $18 drink was a normal night at the klerb. Worth mentioning if that would be a deal breaker. Worth a go. I thought it was better than the speakeasy at the Sonoran House which was too bright and not intimate. You really like feel more like you're not where you're supposed to be at The Still. There is a curio cabinet with cigars that I think are for sale. The speakeasy opens up to the patio for all the smoke suckers. Great for a small groups or date night, maybe not the first date.

Drinks were available at the venue bar or the Tap Room adjoining. There was also a big water dispenser available. The staff were nice and seemed happy. I asked for a recommendation for a mocktail at the Tap room, and the bartender said water. My friend ordered a mocktail and she said he was right, she should have ordered water, the drink was not worth $10. It's always fun to go downtown for a concert, there's so much to see and do.

The one who served us was very nice and even made a drink recipe I came up with. Unfortunately, their bar is not well stocked so had to make a LOT of adjustments to my recipe. But appreciated his suggestions and effort. Now for the bad stuff. They have a jazz club attached. I figured the whole place would have that ambience but was disappointed that wasn't the case. Generic pop on the patio and inside is very noisy. The preferred dress of patrons appears to be gym shorts and t-shirts. Drinks were a little weak so I switched over to bourbon on the rocks. But the prices are reasonable. Maybe a nice pre show stop if you're going to the Century room.

The whole vibe is awesome - they even have a submarine room. My guy had a Painkiller and it was delicious. I was all about the spectacle of having my drink lit on fire so I went with the Tandoori Express. I was honestly not expecting it to be as tasty as it was. I was super impressed. And when the fire gets lit - watch out! I was tempted by the Spam Musubi but sadly didn't order it. We did get some Stoner Fried Rice to go and ate it when we got home. Really good!

In the future, I would probably limit a reservation to 6. My table ordered 1 of everything on the menu. My faves were the coco nido wings (wings with coconut rum glaze), the Stoner fried rice, and the ahi wonton tacos (cucumber, jalapeno, soy ginger, Chubasco aioli, wasabi peas). For my drink, I ordered the Fogcutter (vintage favorite combines a blend of light rum, cognac, gin, orgeat, fresh orange and lemon juice, and is finished with a port float), refreshing and not too sweet. We implemented the 'take 1 and pass left" maneuver to share all the dishes amongst us. We had a great time eating and comparing notes. There were 2 bartenders and 1 dude running food. it's not a place to eat fast. You have to be willing to chill and take in the vibe. Half the people in our party had just arrived to town so it was the perfect, festive yet low key, speakeasy setting for our party. I got a lot of in-law family points picking this place. This was my 2nd here and both times have been super fun. Thank you, Cabali, for a memorable family occasion!
